DR. CHAS. STEWART SPEAKS FOR "GO-TO-SCHOOL" CAMPAIGN.
AMONG THE CHURCHES
By R. L. H. Rice.
It was an evident fact that the visit of Dr. Chan, Stewart to Dallas was a pleasant event as demonstrated by the large audience to which he spoke Sunday evening at McDonia Baptist church, Good and Madison. He spoke in the interest of the "Go-to-School Campaign" which has for its purpose, the decrease of illiteracy among Negroes of Dallas.
Preceding the speech of the evening were several solos and the adoration of the audience, who set forth very briefly the purposes of the campaign. After the address of Mr. Williams came the address of Dr. Stewart, E. Arlington Wilson, pastor of McDonia Baptist church, pastor of McDonia Baptist church, appointed Dr. Stewart to his audience.
In a most clever manner, known only to Dr. Stewart, he arose and announced the name of the Pig Waxed Fat and Died." This subject he made to fit our present audience very forcibly to the attention of all, the call of the world for men. He was very forcibly to the sign which hangs in every nook and corner of the universe, regardless to whatever sphere it may be.
He defined man and showed that by all composition he was superior to all composition, composition, composition, mind, soul and body. These qualities he discussed, showcased and explained.

Diety. He forbly brought to light the fact that since all humanity was in possession of these qualities there were no superior races because of color, hair or physique, but men were superior to women in prior development of mind and soul. He pictured the Negro race trying to imitate the world for men. He showed that in the development of manhood there is created an ideal which makes him a superior man, he will understand that he must make life and not a living merely. He gave to the audience a model of manhood by giving, from the platform command attention, the sound command attention, the sound erect, head and eyes straight forward, Mr. F. K. Richey and Wm. F. K. ALLEN CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR
LRAGUK.
Nolan H. B. Elliot, B. S., Conference President.
Sunday, Jan. 8, we were at Wear Chapel at Port Worth, with Rev. Kyle Spencer, the pastor, and we spoke to the League, after a very excellent program had been rendered. Miss McCoy, the president of the League, pledged us his support in his district. However, in regard to the perfecting of a real systematic organization that will be able to develop the league in this conference, the president of the League who are supposed to constitute the leadership of the race are sleeping. Never before in our racial group has there been such an urgent call for Christianized intelligence. Never before has there been such a need for young men and women, who are vices, and "Gome over into Macedonia andabor." Never before has there been such a need for Christianized intelligence in the church that will wholly prepare young men and women of the above stated type. But despite the need of it, in reference to its development, in the North Texas conference, the Talented Tenth is asked.
We have seen the young people daily, being drawn from the church, seeking the Mammans of Modern England, for help, and the plea of succumbers from those, who have been caught in the church, and the brink. We have felt for those, who were striving valiantly against those forces that had become their Mastress, having hearing and feeling these things, we have carried them to the Talented Tenth. But in vain, for although we have unseasonably healed hearing and feeling those things, we have fallen into deaf ears and the Talented Tenth slept on. We are awake and the others nine-tenth shall continue to fight for the development of a Allen League in this conference, and those who are awake and the others nine-tenth shall continue to fight for the development of a Allen League in this conference, and that will really do the work as laid down in the Discipline, the Constitution of the A. M. K. Church.

Has a Negro bank, but new york has no bank. On purpose) has no negro bank. In Ocala. Pln. is a Negro farmer who is one of the greatest farmers in the world. He owns a land kept land and 21 miles of force. Just consider one single product of Coca. He may ship one hundred carloads of melons, and for a single car of melons he receives hundreds of dollars. And deposits his money in that Negro Bank. Colored people cannot be either economically or politically strong unless they concentrate their own efforts to represent the community, and for example, represent the financial strength of the Community, and the strength of this strength is given by one group (the Colored) into the hands of other groups (the White, the sample), the one group is simply surrendering so much of its strength into the keeping of that other group, and the one group may build hotels where the Negro cannot even wash the dishes, and the one group may spend in the "third heaven," and capitalize business where the Negro will be spending More money. FEDERAL COURTS FOR LYNCH ERS.
The Times-Union is an extreme advocate of states rights, and a great sticker for the observance of the constitution, but we regret to see Southern congressmen placing themselves in the apparent attitude of those who have lynched the constitution. We would think that the right to have prisoners lynched is one of those resolute stances we have in our constitution. We would like to see the states break up lynch law, and they have done much to accomplish this Lynch Law, but were, they continue, and not always are they inflicted for the one crime they are supposed to commit. It is not true that lynchers have been decreased because of the punishment of members of the mob, but it is not rare as to be almost unknown. If the states will not punish lynchers, the government take the matter in hand.
This bill is not aimed especially at the South. True more Negroes are at the South than other parts of the country, but we doubt whether more are lynched in this section than elsewhere in provinces in the South. The Chinese and Japanese are lynched on the Pacific coast. The law would stop this as nearly as it would stop lynchings in the South, out and out, and if the federal government can stamp it out more efficiently than the state governments can, we say by all means that in the South they would be men charged with lynching would be tried by practically the same jurors as would try them in state courts. That is not the case, that in one case they would be tried under federal authority, and in the other under state authority. Under federal authority, prisoners than they do why not let the federal government see what it can
