LOUISVILLE, KY. May 17—In complete reports from the elections of the A. M. E. General Conference which has been in session in this city for the past week indicate that Texas will be well represented when the final toll of the elections has been taken. Already one Texas A. M. E. General who for several years has held the office of Secretary of Education of the General Church has been reelected without opposition and all indications point to the successful run of the other candidate of the state with several exits. Much hope is also held out for the election of Rev. S. J. Johnson who is striving for the position of Secretary of Church Extension. Little on no hope however is entertained for the other Texas who are seeking to be elevated to the affairs of the general church.

HARRISON AND CLEVELAND
TWO TARIFES
The administration of President Harrison and the second administration closely identified with the tariff, the tariff was aided together as an example of a tariff for revenue only to the United States, a convention of 1883 met in Washington to order by H. K. Jones, chairman of the Tariff Commission, John K. Tubeson of Pennsylvania, and as temporary chairman, Morrie S. Wheeler. The platform endorsed the principle of the protective tariff, declarations of the Chinese and Chinese labor demanding a fifteenth tariff, the condemnation monopolies and traps, and asked legislators to reorganize the navy, and praced America to increase the tariff. The administration was demonstrated as
ministration and the territory of Oklahoma. In 1889 the state of Montana, Washington, North Dakota and Alaska, and in 1898 the state of Wyoming and the state of Idaho. In 1898 the state of the latter state was the first to become evident early in 1892 when Presidency that year would proceed. The Republican convention of 1892 affirmed the Presidency of New York was temporary chairman and William McKinley. The resolutions enforced the McKinley and the Republican convention that edified rather than increased the elected election methods the state used. In the annual message to Congress, Mr. Obama outlined the optimistic message of President Obama's visit to Cleveland said: "At this time when a depleted Treasury contracts are engaged in a hard struggle for the money with all assurances at my command, I will limit my effort economy as to securing the Treasury and a sympathy of the Treasury and a sympathy of our fellow citizens." The mission was given over prior commitments, and non-delivery bill was evoked after the visit without the President's signature on the fiscal year 1984 showed a commitment to the government. "In part in the anticipation we were waiting to bring in their goods the period of 1698 to 1699 the Republic's money to meet the expenses of the government and to pay off nearly all of the debt. During the first really Democratic administration, the national debt was increased."

A. S. JACKSON, TEXAN, REELECTED SECRETARY OF EDUCATION AT A.M. E. CONFERENCE

R. S. Jenkins, Presiding Elder over the Dallas District, was the first Texan to win. He was easily the victor in the race for Secretary of the General Conference.
The latest teleographic news from Louisville, late Thursday afternoon among the elected Sectors of the A. M. Review and by overwhelming majority and Ira T. Ray, were re-elected the day of A. M. B. Sunday School Union.
The first week of the General Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church with interesting events, and at the same time full of blisshes. There are many new delegates, some have been elected, and yet they have fallen in line in helping to do the work for the church. It in a business organization, and the rest pushed through, while the rest will get through next week and the Gen. Conference or Thursday of the
At the time of Bishop Lee's retirement, he was in charge of the work of the church. This was followed on Monday prior to the reports of the Episcopal Conference of Little Rock, who referred to his own physical condition, stating that he would be fully recovered within a year he would be the General Conference to grant him one year retirement to recruit. That Prof. John R. Hawkins is the pastor of the church, M. E. Church and the layman, was demonstrated by the ovation which was given to his report made by the clergy. He had guarded every interest of his church, especially the finance. He fitted the system in detail, and such was showed that he had carefully minded out how the church could be discovered that some provision should be made for the General Office, and final conference came to an end so to speak when he was made general
"During this quadrimester we have had two General Officers to serve from service, thereby making it necessary to make special provision for meeting the emergency arising. I have also served on the Chair of Church Extension and the Secretary of Missions. In one case, that the General Officer had served faithfully in that office for twenty-three years. He practically broke down in the office of Dr. Rankin, though sadly incapacitated, still lingers in a suffering state. He should be encouraged to conceive themselves to the work of their respective departments and keep in mind that their work so that there will be some real development of the work environment." "Having done this, when a General Officer breaks down, under the stress and strain of his office and the work of his staff, he should be made for his retirement on the basis of half of the salary at the time of suchirement. "And in the case of the death of General Officer who has served from service, his wisdom should be penned commensurate with the status of the office he held at the time of his death."
Increase in Our Budget System
"That we are progressing can be measured by year by year, but we must take still higher ground. We have made a big program. We have made a financial scheme needs revision.
"We should standardize our regular Theological Seminaries and strengthen professors obtainable.
"Our schools and colleges should be equipped for the work involved in providing with the best qualified instructors for doing work with poor material and cheap instructors.
"The Dames of our regular Seminaries and Presidents of our colleges should be involved in a year with commensurate provision for professors and instructors in harmony with the schedule of salaries throughout the country.
"The vocation of the ministry should be more attractive from a financial standpoint by fixing a salary allowance of the Presiding Elders and Pastors.
"We should be a reserve fund out of which we can make bet-

ter provision for preschools serving on mission points.
To provide an operation for 50 superintendent ministers even at the modest allowance of $500,000, we would require $1,000,000 a year.
For 120 widows at $2.50 a quarter, or $100 a year will be sufficient for our diapers we would require $1,000,000 a year.
For 300 orphans at $2.50 a year will take $1,250 a year.
We need to have diapers at least $4,000 a year. General officers at least $3,000.
In making our budget to carry on the work we need to set the mark for, our General Fund or, Dollar money at $500,000 at $600,000; $500,000 for missions $500,000 totaling for these three items $2,000,000. This should supplement the Fund at $500,000. Special Diapers $500,000, total $2,000,000 which would mean but an average of $5.00 a pet member on this basis.
All the reports made to the General Conference showed an increase in the number of all lines reported, and the report of Ira T. Bryant, Secretary of the M. E. Sunday School Union in the charter, that because of a fight, Bryant would up the property in the charter, but he had it all strattened out, and presented the African Methodist Episcopal School Union of the Sunday School Union in a fee simple absolute. He won many friends by this act, many friends by his self. Bryant is the first man to be secretary of the Sunday School Union, and in this method in what he was defending the church and guarding its interest. Many he declared that he could sleep well each night because he was duty to his God, his church and his fellow. Of the Lord's Support, an oratorio, was presented Friday night of last week by Hiram Simmons of Portsmouth, Va. It was listened to by fully

The detective complied his pistol into the house, but an examination of the premises revealed that none of the inmates had been hit. Petrolman Foe who was about 75 yards distant from the scene of the attack had his comrade and after consultation the two decided to call for reinforcement. A call was sent into the house and the rot wagged responded only to find that the two men had made good their escape. Up until a few minutes later they had not been apprehended.

livestock, butter poultry, home dome chicken and volve heat, and the result of this interest is marked improvement in all of the above stated factors. The poultry are being improved, especially laying poultry. Parents are encouraged. Parents are encouraged through extension workers to send their children to schools of learning of ignorance among Near Easters, noting what this service is in mean of providing public goods better eaten at home. This Organization among other things has as its object:
First—More public recognition of the Negro farmer and the Negro agricultural attention to their interests agricultural under the main conditions. Second—More effective and instituted programs in each of the southern states to increase agricultural production. Third—More thorough information for Negroes on the problems of production and cooperative marketing. Fourth—More understanding of the morals of the Negro farmer and the ancessent effort on the part of the Negro farmer to sustain that morale on the absolute confidence and loyalty of any impending danger, which may arise.
