Death is rapidly remounting from active life all of the picturesque and as well powerful leaders of the race in all of its walks of life. And as these men and women of brilliant minds, whose work for the past quarter of a century has marked them as real leaders pass from the scene of action the question of who will take their places naturally arises. That the labors of these people were responsible for many of the good things that have come to the race and that their contribution to the welfare of America through the increased ability of the race to excel is attested by the esteem in which they were held and proven by the difference that was given them. But what of the leaders of the future?
Be no doubt that those who will come after these illustrious must possess the ability to accomplish in a larger way, the things which those who are reading have so well done in the days of the beginnings of our progress. They must have courage without being impatient; they must have vision but it must not assume the aspect of that of the dreamer who accomplishes nothing practical; they must have patience without becoming complacent and easily satisfied with small accomplishment. And they all must have in no limited degree, training, education and knowledge of the
The leadership of the future will differ from that of the past in that it will be confined to no two or three figures as has been true in the past when the whole country looked unfailingly to one person here and there of the only one who could take care of an immediate emergency. In the past when the superior ability to do things, will assume the leadership of their groups. And the leaders, working together for the good of the whole group must direct the affairs of the future. And particularly in the South must this be true if the progress of the group is to be made consistently. The needs of the race in time to come will make this development necessary.

It has the hotting breast; lines we宿翅膀. It professes a satireism as broad as our nationalism. It battles covers all the terribility occupied by the human race. This deeply high ground, the most beautiful, is having. Boys at the press come in and stand with us. This ground is abby W. R. KING.
Despite the fact that, according to the statement of A. Philip Randolph of Messenger fame, a certain section of the agreement which is supposed to regulate the contracts of the Pullman Company and the army of Negro men which it employs to care for the comfort of the passengers who use its accommodations, states that there shall be no disorientation by the company on account of the membership of its employees in any fraternal society or union, the Company is protecting against the formation of a union of its porters to combat the unfair conditions under which they work. According to the letter of Mr. Randolph, the Pullman conductors all of whom are white have had an organization since 1312 and every other group on the railroad is organized but the porters. Likewise, it follows that to a certain extent, every other has had its working conditions better with the exception of the Pullman porters. They are forced to make 11,000 miles as the basis for their employment. Similarly, it is impossible for the fact that the majority of porters are forced to work nearly 400 hours a month, none of which includes the time for making ready before leaving the stations.
The school season is almost upon Texas and in the majority of the nooks and corners of the state as well. Students are taught by Nagy teachers are beginning their work in the same old unsightly buildings are beginning to attempt the payment of the same sort of salaries, are beginning to attempt the payment of the same sort of their poor pay and their inability to have enough to打 them have been unable in the majority of cases to attend any school in Texas, so they are desired, for no funds were available to them. Will they be for
The porters want assignments of 240 monthly hours as regular time with compensation for overtime as well as pay for the 'making ready' time. They also desire to have some agreement made by which the 'doubling out', evil, which causes so much physical wear and tear, may be done away with. Coupled with all of the other demands is that of more courteous treatment from all of those with whom they come in contact. But none of these things can be discussed at regular meetings of the porters, according to the letter of Mr. R. Andolph. He proves his skill by taking on a task that he did not attend a meeting recently at which the organiser of the locomotive engineers was scheduled to speak.
It would seem that in this day and time, members of the Nebraska community are fairly low ranking even among members of the inning class who work in the organization. More eagerly to seek the means of earning from the inducible college work for no many years. It would mean that the other groups which have bettered the conditions under which they work. They would be able to work with other organizations in a organization strong enough to make itself heard in the councils of the land and they got results. That can be done right here in the state. But better proof is to be found that more than $7,000,000 has been voted for the improvement of the accredited Negro high schools than in any other state in the country. In that state. The success of the education institution is more than $290.000. Carolina is much smaller than North Carolina, but the number of no many teachers. In North Carolina, there is a well trained memorial service to the author of the State dept. of Education and supervises the work of the Negro schools, making recommendations where they are needed.
Some of the porters however are disregarding the warnings of the company and are flocking to the organization. And The Express has hasten to command the courage and goodwill of the workers to take action to charge for the sake of attempting to better their conditions. There can be no doubt but that the conditions under which they work are shameful. When measured by the returns which directly result from their labor, all of which returns are not directly related to the poorly paid of all of the servants on public carriers. An organization which contained all of the strength of the 12,000 who serve the Pulman Company could 'get improvements of its condition. And it is likely that without or without the assistance of the workers, it is also true that any of all those men, so employed, could obtain as lucrative employment in other endeavors where there would be more opportunity for advancement than they face in that service should it happen that the conditions would be improved, their lot. The Express is of the opinion that this organization should be carried through to completion and that the bettered conditions which could be expected, from the actions of such an organization would be well worth the effort. The Express is not in any stand, the plight of the Pulman porters is rather sad. The conditions under which they work are bad. But if they have not enough belief in the rightness of the case they have, to grave the dangers of dischaffing, they are not working properly and are not only the rights of every man who serves and must live.
The Express along with all of the other citizens of Dalat, is gratified at the improvements made in the school system of Dalat and especially with those which directly affect the Negro schools. The Darell school which for many years has been a veritable dead trail in type remodeled and made safe for the children who seek training in it, a nurse to look after the health of Negro teachers has been named and she will work under the direction of the Health Office of the system; other minor improvements which involve the teachers and the addition of several teachers have been noted.
The success of this petition as far as the improvements needed to concern should be reason, enough for the con-
sideration of the petition.
THE DALLAS EXPRESS, DALLAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 1925
and it should be encouragement for the more active interest of those who had no part in the framing and presentation of this limit document. It should happen also that the efforts of these citizens should be gone until all of the things asked for last year are secured.
For some reason not made clear, the new school project for Oak C峡 was abandoned. Whether temporarily or not has not been made known. That project is as badly needed as the project for the other schools, and should not be allowed to be forgotten in pix pleasure which coheses with the improvements which have been made. Let the citizens still think in terms of their schools. Let them study their needs. Let them grow more and more into the citizens of the world. Let them provide for every child, such training as will make of him a profitable citizen. The best in education is the right of every Negro child along with all of the others in America.
Walter Cohen has been exonerated of the charges of complicity with the runners of New Orleans. Just an other political frame up gone wrong. Some how of other, or more serious, crimes. That Cohen along with other Negroes are entitled to such jobs as he holds.

The stroucheful murder of Raymond Pierce, taxi driver and little man, was a military, defensive, Hool-Noel, should prove a heist to the conspirators public at large, for within so much time the newspapers have flashed the news to the world in blasting headlines and been committed by colored people, which proved later to have in Missouri, the papers told us of a horrible lynching in which the children and the culprit had confessed before he was lynched and the culprit had confessed before he was lynched.
An execution训 of hilarious pleasure-seekers was run to the court, and it proved that the unfortunate Negro victim, not confused but confessed, had been charged of attacking a white girl and it developed that he shut up and over money involved in a horse death.
In New York the metropolitan dailies recently carried, glaring Kazuo Murakami, murdering a Japanese girl and arranging a number of Negro whom he had dreaded arrive. Several were arrested. In rejection released every time he had been committed in the south it is easy to contemplate what happened in this city a few weeks ago, a Mexican was accused of an attack on a mofft hysteria, he was rushed to trail and given from fifteen to ten.

Some of these improvements. The Express feels, are the direct blemish of the petition presented to the School Board. The petition is in the group of the interested citizens and petition set forth in the letter of the New schools and attempted to recommend certain improvements which seemed necessary. The school nurse and the improvement of the Darrrell school were among the things recommended. This is as it should be. The citizens should be informed of the proposed improvements sent their cases in such form that they will be worthy of serious consideration. The history of Dallas proves that its directing heads including the School Board have an interest in the improvement of conditions as they affect the whole community and that they will respond to requests for needed things.
