Ninety Nine Year Leases
And Us
Every new and then we see in the daily dialogs among realities that "such and sooth" - an estate has "touch" such and sooth" - a place
building or place for ninety-nine years. It is not a place for an antiquarian to sit and an antiquarian to practice the traditions of anglo-Saxon epigraphy, the passage of that law. It now appears that many of the large insurance companies of that state have white man management but catering largely to the patronage of Negroes of many years removed. In any other record of the titles of property belonging to the Nordic people, the attempt to put Negroes "in their place" has deepened petitions for generations as far back as the old Norman parish, in a manner American white man, is always the most tender, his pocket. Of course the harm will make itself felt both ways for the Negroes who have spent their money with these companies will find that their policies are worthless. THE ATLANTA BARBER BILL IS ENJOINED
Report has it that the famous "barber bill" of Atlanta prohibiting Negro barbers to work on white people has been enjoined as the result of a fight waged against it by the Chamber of Commerce of that city. It seems that that organization, representing the wealth of that southern city has decided that it does not want its faces shaved or its hair cut, except in the extraordinary case, and it is fighting the battle against the king of that city, with a vengeance which is insuring.
It is good that this is so. Were it to happen that in families intact, this show the tendency of families intact. We may now, by the force from a stain of mind at the white race, the most backward and illiterate were to remain in power and to dictate the policies of the government, not we must generally thought on. On such ideas changes would not be far away and the very fundamentals of this government would be in danger. It is that of those
The Road To Better Health
A news item of last week told of the institution of a suit against Wilberforce University by one of its former teachers for back pay which he alleges is due him. A few weeks ago news digests told of the trouble at Paul Quinn College and of the dismissal of the president of the institution of Wilberforce University. The Bishop and board of trustees. Last year the alumni of Wilberforce made charges of gross efficiency against the governing boards there. All of these things coupled with statements like that of Bishop Bernon recently and those of Ira Bryant two years ago give rise to a question as to the utility of the A. M. E. Church to measure up in the matters of governance. Now, when the men like Bishop Hampsa, Turner, Arnett, Smith and others were figures which commanded national fame and respect. Now, with the exception of a few names like those of Gregg, Vernon and Ransom, the names of men of that connection never figure in the national news.
The A. M. E. Church is one dedicated to the rights of men to have opinions of their own and its traditions, beginning with the action of Richard Allen in his protest against the Bishop of Wilberforce University, which any connected with it any Negro organization in this country. Truly the fathers of that Church handed down a tradition of splendor which their sons can ill afford to allow to become tarnished by poor management and careless handling. Were its traditions alone to be considered, that Church more than any other should produce men of vision, courteous national leaders of their people in the battles against discrimination and oppression. The child be the fount of free thinking and independent action. But is that the case?

Charges of graft galore adorn the pages of those peri-ordinals which are dedicated to the dissemination of the news. Blahpicons bought and bartered for in general conferences. A system as damnable as that of Feudal times is to be found in many of the discourses where those who do the war of the Bishop who is the master are favored despite the fact that the war of the Church is in the most manual of positions. Not only that but in many instances there is record of such procedure that the charge of corruption is levelled at the heads of the Church by jaymen whose eyes are now no longer closed to the true condition of affairs in that Church. That should not be. There are strong men in that connection who should dedicate their lives to the correction of the condition which is renown in the Church. That is why the splendid traditions which have been handed down by the fathers. Let the truth be known. Let the fittest men manage the affairs of the Church. Let politics be made secondary to the selection of efficient men to man the positions in that connection and it will be found that there are more men, better men, more courageous men in that connection now than in former times. These are the words of Miss Elizabeth Welsh, the popular actress of our group, in telling of the change in the appearance of her hair.
"Why!" she continued, "When I started using this preparation my hair was so unruly. I couldn't do a thing with it. Now it is so soft and smooth, and I can wash and it stays that way, looking smooth and glossy. My hair has grown longer, too, since I started using Pluiko."

You will be delighted with the refreshed and invigorated feeling this delicately fragranced Hair Dressing gives. This makes your hair softer, gives your hair, and the way its continued use makes your hair long and abundant.
