CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST IS BARNY'RD ADAGE
The recent beattings administered unto two white men in this city under peculiar circumstances by unknown parties, ought to bring home to every American citizen the menace of racial prejudice, peace, perpetuity and progress of our common country.
Such wanton and cowardly depredations have called forth the severest condemnation from Criminal Judge C. W. Robinson, who states that either the courts must go or lawlessness of this species must cease.
The courts were organized and instituted as instrumentalities where men might get justice through orderly processes and where no man or set of men could take undue advantage of any man because of his station in society. When "secret organizations" must be maintained to uphold law and order and when these self-appointed patrons (?) resort to violating the law in their supposed zeal and anxiety to see if uphold, they make a mackery in their defense, a denounce that either a screw is loose in our legal machinery or have in our boasted American civilization failed?
Didn't we go thousands of miles from home to destroy the very practice that is now being enacted in our own midst with impunity?
THE HOUSTON INFORMER
Political Woods Are Filled With "Faithful" Who Are Employing Both Hammers and Axes; "Favorite Sons" Swarm the National Capital
Washington, 'D. C.—From good sources it is reported, merit and party loyalty are going to be the chief okey passing marks. Those who hold office must measure up in mental and physical capacity; they must be backed by their senators and their state organizations, and they must be regarded as genuine representatives of the group. The political tools are filled with the faithful thinking for the stones upon which they might grind their axes. But the political carpenter shop is also very lively with individuals, and groups of individuals with hammers seeking to knock the "stuffin" out of every single one of the stones any and all offices. Of course, there has not been a man appointed, or proposed for appointment, from Secretary of State Hughes down to, Col. George Hughes on the side, who has been hammered on all sides. Now, on our "side of the minority," there is being everything said about everybody who has been even suggestive.
to gloat or rejoice that lawlessness, so long unrestrained and unrestricted upon the colored citizens, should now find an outlet upon the white citizens; but they should show the grave peril to the safety and well-being of any citizen, who may get in bad with certain hard-boiled "mysterious" bullies and Huns, under our present dual system of courts, whose presiding judges are Justice and Layman. If were utter absurdity and preposterousness to even presume that lawlessness could be perpetuated upon one group of our population at will and the other hope to escape the inevitable: the law of retribution, which is inexorable, immovable, and inimitable. If matters continue to grow worse, the South is going to become an armed camp and any little flag can start a fight that can only be extinguished with great difficulty and that after much material and physical damage has been done and the law has been abolished. Let's permit the courts to function or let's abolish these so-called temples of justice.
Let's give Jesus Christ a hearing or let's raze all His earthly churches to the ground and erect a memorial to the victims of "mysterious", and "invisible" fraternities, who are now out of duffel both the work of God and man.
Lawlessness must go or America will be weighed in the balance and found wanting; having built our civilization, upon the collapse of the empire will be terrible and awful.
Every cowardly and summary act by these self-appointed

guardians of the public weal and welfare not only deteriorates and degenerates the character of the community, but also stult reduces the community just that much nearer the savage, barbarian and cave man stage and is a criminal assault and brutal outrage upon Americanism and Christianity, all the while suppressing the foundation of our body politic.
As a matter of self-preservation these lawless bands of terrorists and anarchists' must be suppressed, while chickens may roam far from home, they should be home to roost. Selah!

NETS ABOUT $3,000
AMONG OUR GROUP
The membership drive of the local colored Y. M. C. A. has nearly reached the $3000 mark, $2,833. having been secured in-cash and pledges. The board of managers hope to secure larger quarters for the Y and to enlarge the program so as to reach a larger number of boys and men who need the kind of service this organization is pledged and ordained to do. The $3000 budget will probably be realized in the next few days.
Mamie Smith Will Be Entertained at Center
The general public is invited to a reception and entertainment given in honor of Mamie Smith and her "jazz honeats" at the Community Center, 714% Prairie Avenue, Friday night, after the program at the City Hall. The charge has spared no pain to make the occasion a pleasant one. Refreshments will be served and the enjoyment of jazz music "n 'everything."
Chicago Pastor Is Royally Treated Here
Rev Lucius Drane, Chicago pastor who has been conducting a series of protracted meetings at Walt's Chapel was entertained by Pastor R. W. Wells of said church at the beautiful home of the late Frank Hocking, 2005 Dallas Avenue, Wednesday. Several of the leading ministers and laymen of the city were present and attended. A delicious repast was served. Rev Drane, who is loud in his praise of Houston and its wonderful left Thursday morning for Chicago.
DISTINGUISHED AUTHOR FLAYS AMERICANS FOR LYNCHING FESTS; HUNNISH "KULTUR" IS RAMPANT
New York City.—The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, 70 Fifth Avenue, has announced receipt of a communication from George Bernard Shaw, in which, after calling lynching one of the organized pleasures of America, he spoke of American lynchings in the following terms:
"Hardly any American seems to understand that in a civilized country it is murder to kill any person except by process of law. It seems to be assumed that whoever disapproves of the conduct of a Negro is entitled to consult with the judge, jury and executioner, and burn the Negro after inviting the countryside to come to the burning as if it were a hunting meet. As the countryside appears to come, and to enjoy itself, Europe concludes that the Apache is produced by climate, not by race."
The communication from Mr. Shaw is in response to facsimiles sent to him from American newspapers telling of the burning at stake of Henry Lowry, at Nodena, Arkansas, on January 26, 1921.

STANDARD ICE CREAM ENJOYING RACES' IS GOOD NAI
When the above named company was formed policy—to endeavor to create one firm policy—to endeavor to create from experience what should eventually become "The Aristocrat of the Ice Cream World." Though but a year, it old age, it ranks second to none in quality of the institution. Its business is chaste and a desire to make the best that can be made has given Standard Ice cream a distinctive individuality—when you eat some of it, you like all the rest, come to this conclusion. Only only two ice creams—STANDARD and others—and discriminating eaters prefer Standard.
The triumph of the Standard Ice Cream Co. has been made possible through the firm belief in its future by every number of its harmony of effort, intelligence, honesty and confidence assure the company that will be conducted on the same high plane of integrity that stamps the dealings of any big legitimate enterprise.

This system makes available a combination of fashionable and correctly proportioned garments which give large women the cured "Stylish Stout" figure.

Christ in the Life of Today
1. The Empty Sepulcher (v. 1-7)
1. The earthquake (v. 1-4)
This curved when the glorious angel descends away from the tomb. This work of the angel was not to allow Jesus to be empty. Christ needed not even the help of a glorious angel, for He was raised up by his own power and cross. The open tomb and the angel sit upon the stone with calm dignity is a picture of God's trumpet of keepers is a sample of what all of Christ's enemies shall one day experience. He comes in glory to reign as King.
2. The angel's message to the women (vv. 57). "I [fear not] (v. 5), fear these women who loved the Lord received good news from the empty tomb. The Lord will not long leave them, and I [fear] them and dread. The empty tomb put an end to all doubts and fears. It is the evidence that the question of the Lord will not be answered infined and eternal victory is secured. "The Come, see (v. 6). The angel told the women that the Lord had told them to see the place where He lay. The reason He invites them to come in is that He desires them to make sure they will see the place where He lay. The effort to convince the disciples of the reality of His resurrection. He remained with them for 40 days, after which He told them, "Go quickly" (v. 7). Having seen for themselves, their responsibility was to go tell the message. White facts, of course, one should not stay too long because there is work to do. Experience is important, so they should go to quilty to the disciples with the message, assured that the Lord would go before and meet them. "The Risen King Meets the Woman" (vv. 7).
The women quickly obeyed the command of the angel and were running to bring the disciples word. Jesus told them, "You have an experimental knowledge of Christ should go speedily to tell others all. It who quenched with his lips the word of God way. When they saw Jesus, that He was really the Lord, they worshiped Him. They knew that He was the worshiped. Therefore entitled to be worshiped.
II. Paying Money to Circulate a Lie (v. 11-15)
He came from the dead could not even be deified by the Sanhedrin. They could see but one way out of the difficulty, that was to bring the keepers to tell a lie. They had to tell the people they pay much more to circulate a lie about His resurrection.
IV. Wonderful power money has over the lives of people. Only indirectly induce people to lie, but it even muzzles the mouths of preachers.
IV. The King's Great Commission
By virtue of His royal authority He issued this command to the disciples. In order to prepare them to them he declared to them that all power in heaven and earth was given unto Him. This is most fundamentally. Only the is业 deity himself has declared they likely to go about with the message. "Go, teach all nations." This is the first and primary business of the disciples. The rise and mighty Lord issues this command to all (v. 10). 2 Baptize them in the name of the Christ. He has declared the disciples of the Lord should receive that rite which signifies that relationship to Him (v. 19). 3 Command the disciples (v. 20). Those who become Christ's disciples should be taught obedience to all His commands. He has declared the abiding presence. Christ's abiding presence guarantees the success of the enterprise.
**Prayer.**
In the morning, when you awake, accustom yourself to first think upon God or something in order to His service. When you hear Christ close nine eyes—Jeremy Taylor.

The Apostle Paul in First Corinthians 15:12-19, discusses the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation and basis of the Christian faith, summing his argument up in these words: "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain."
Most of our readers are quite familiar with the historical facts connected with passion week; the betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot; the trial before Pontius Pilate and the finding of no fault in Him by the Roman ruler; Peter's impetuosity and pugnacity, and the ultimate crucifixion of the Redeemer upon Golgotha's rugged heights.
According to Divine decree, at the appointed hour angelic messengers, on the wings of much alacrity, flew from the heavenly abode, caused sleep to take possession of the weared limbs of the Roman guards, rolled away the stone from the tomb and Christ arose and marched majestically and divinely from the sepulchre, triumphant over death, hades and all earthly powers.
His resurrection was the most notable triumph and achievement in the annals of the scriptures; no doubt heaven adorning itself in its gayest garbs and apparel and watching the conflict as waged in the grave.
Perhaps the heavenly host sent up vociferous shouts that shook the celestial regions from center to circumference when the Lamb of God demonstrated His divinity and supernatural powers on that memorable occasion.
This day, made momentous, sacred and holy by the resurrection of the great Atoner and Propitiat, is called Easter Sunday in Christendom and is a gala religious day.
Upon Christ's resurrection hinges all our faith; for if he did not rise from the dead, then "we are of all men most miserable."
Easter should not be celebrated with style shows, meaningless ceremonies and formalities, but with lowly, contrite worship, giving due consideration and recognition to what the day really signifies and typifies to the human family.
"Ring on, ring on, ye bells,
Peal forth a gladsome sound;
Jesus, the victor, lives today,
His name with honors crowned."
COLORED PEOPLE SHOULD BUY FROM RACE'S ADVERTISERS
The Informer wishes to call our people's attention to the fact that there are several stores in Houston that do not cater to nor care for the colored people's patronage, and when our people enter these stores they are in variably given a "cold shoulder."

To avoid this uncalled for humiliation and unnecessary embarrassment, peruse the columns of your colored newspapers and unless you see business places advertising with some deed in your name, and in your papers, stay out of those stores and urge your friends to do likewise. Any store that desires and applauds the race's patronage will advertise in colored newspapers, and when they do not advertise in papers published by our racial group, it is primal not wanted, and it is not up to us to make ourselves conspicuous by our absence. Then, too, don't purchase your merchandise in these "holes in the walls" and 2x4 joints, who, like the Dead Sea, take in everything and give out nothing. The time has arrived for the colored people to have some racial self-respect and stop spending their money with merchants who are base ingrates and mercantile hogs.
The readings in advertisements in all issues of your newspaper and then practice the doctrine of business reciprocity by patronizing only those merchants who are insensitive to that
It is a serious reflection upon our race to continue to enrich men who do not care a rap for nor appreciate our trade, and if we would only employ a little gray matter and make a few sacrifices by foregoing such purchases, even if they are in the shape of bargains, and go elsewhere and throw our support out of their support to our race's enterprises, we will be committing an act that will have a three-fold blessing.

The guest/boonor was completely surprised and taken off her feet by the occasion and was very visibly affected. Refreshments consisting of sandwiches, cream and cake were served. NEGRO HEALTH WEEK BEGINS SUNDAY, APR. 3
For the third time the Texas Public, Health Association is announcing its co-operation with all of the states having a large Negro population, in the National Negro Health Week. This Negro Health Week is held at approximately the same time each year. Last year over 200,000 Negroes of Texas participated in some form or other in the celebration of this week.
The purposes of Negro Health Week are to educate the people of the race in the methods of preventing disease and the improving of local sanitary conditions.
A special program for each of the days of the week has been prepared. Sunday, April 3, is given over to sermons and lectures, while Tuesday, April 5, is Children's Health Day, and Thursday, April 7, is Tuberculosis Day.
Anyone interested in having an active part in Negro Health Week can secure full information by writing Dwight E. Breed, executive secretary, Texas Public Health Association, 616 Littlefield Building, Austin, Texas.
