THE HOUSTON INFORMER SPOKE IN NEW ORLEANS TUESDAY DR. ROBERT BUBSA MOTON, successor to the late Dr. Bocker T. Washington as principal of Tuskegee, Normal and Industrial Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama, and president of the National Negro Business League, delivered an address to the 48th triennial convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church. In session at New Orleans, LA., Tuesday night. Dr. Moton is recognized as one of the most outstanding orators on the American platform, and is in great demand as a public speaker. "The race problem in America can be solved by the patient and persistent application of Christian principle." Such was the case of Dr. D. L. D., L.D. of Princeton, moderator of the Presbyterian general assembly, who convened the Presbyterian Council. The sessions of the council will continue until the thirty-first year in the life of the organization. Dr. Erdman stated that some phases of the race problem were as acute as ever, but all that could be done was sympathy and unselfish service. "We should be guilty of no denominationism, and we should seek to attain the idealeds held by Prebyterianism in common with other Christianism." The Prebyterian church has always emphasized the need of education and the duty of evangelism."Moderator Erdman said a high tribute to the late Robert C. Ogden of New York and Philadelphia, whose work for Negro education was instrumental in the signing of a new proclamation of emancipation, promoting deliverance of lessees, and calling the race to intellectual enlightenment, to economic independence, and to moral and spiritful MUSICALE POSTRONED The musical, booked for Wednesday night, Oct. 14, at Antion Baptist Church, by Sys Memorial choir, Dr. Ruth Browne, the school's choir, posted until Tuesday night, Oct. 20. I stood in a crowd of 600 people as the flames gradually creep near me, watched the blaze begin higher and higher, encircling him without mercy, watched the base climb higher and reached him and set his clothing on fire. "Iob. God; ch. God!" he shouted. "I didn't do it. Have mercy!" he meered. "I have mercy!" he reached him and set his clothing on fire. He kicked the chain loosened from his ankles but it bolt his waist and neck against the iron post that become嵌嵌 with the intense heat. "Have mercy!" he said. "I didn't do it." You should be from the before, so the chain loosened from the silence. The chain rose in agreement. What he does need is an education that puts him into a position to supply his own needs and satisfy his own desires. The more education that more and more is given to the Negro by private schools the more education that is education that in large degree accounts for the rapid progress which the Negro is making along all the way. "But remember, my friends, there is vastly more to be done than we think. We must prove that the Negro race has reduced its illiteracy in sixty years from $55 million to $20 million and write is just the beginning of education. Our private schools are the only institutions turning away thousands of students who are clamoring for admission. Schools of college education are the only institutions of college of this number that should be graduating if Negroes had college facilities at the time. Schools of college education are today still doing the work that should be done by high schools. Schools of college education have Negroes had more than a dozen high schools maintained at public schools. Schools of college education have nearly one million Negroes of children." Then, as if to emphasize the work that these educators were doing. Dr. Koch, a professor of the gee Institute, was introduced as the foremost representative of his race in Dr. Moton paid a deserved compliment to the individuals who had been involved in the school each of the schools gave the one at Okolona, Mias, and then praised the Episcopal Church for their dedication and loyalty to the cause of the advancement of THE JONES PHARMACY HARMON'S DRY GOODS STORE Can satisfy all your wants in the Dry Goods line.
