THE HOUSTON INFORMER
Apropos of the action of the Harris County republican executive committee, in the adoption of a resolution introduced at their meeting on June 21, 1926, by T. P. Lee of Houston, barring or attempting to exclude from party primaries and affairs all persons who did not support and vote for "Doctab" George C. Butte and the republican presidential elections in 1924. The Informer wishes to ask a few questions and, incidentally, to keep the record straight.
Since T. P. Lee, the "financial angel" of the so-called republican party in this community, and one of the "big boys," from a monetary viewpoint, in the state, was so kind to introduce his "exclusion resolution," let him answer an interrogation or two.
Mr. Lee, if you were such a party man in 1924, why did you, in the public press, even after "Rotten Boss" Cresger and his "fily-white" candidate had nominated you as his gubernatorial candidate, congratulate Mrs. Miriam A. Ferguson upon her success in the first democratic primary, and tender her your support in the general election.
After you wired your untimely and unwise message to the democracies, did you call for Cresger and his cabinet call a hurried bid and virtually compel you to decline the republican gubernatorial nomination?
Did you mean what you said in that memorable message to Mrs. Ferguson at that time, and did you live up to your promise to support her at the November election in 1924, or did you permit her to bluff you and cease you into supporting and voting for Butte?
It isn't also a fact that you, deep down in your heart, felt that you were the republican Elisha in Texas, and that the mantle of the late F. H. MacGregor, the partisan EJihad, should have fallen upon your shoulders rather than upon Cresger's.
Did you expect to be powered by expost facto and retroactive rules, regulations and resolutions, how did you vote in the senatorial election of 1922?
Did you support Senator Earle B. Mayfield, the klan-democratic candidate, or George E. B. Peddy, the fusion candidate of the republican, and anti-clan democrats?
Did you expect to be pressured with the candidacy of the democratic gubernatorial nominee, Mrs. Ferguson, in 1924, did you put your ballot where your mouth was, or did "Rotten
LOCAL REPUBLICANS LAY PLANS FOR COUNTY FIGHT AT PRIMARIES, JULY 24
G. P. Richardson served as临时 chairman and explained the plan for the election to appear that Congressman Wurzbach, republican congressional candidate, will be victorious over Knetch in the election. Richardson and colored, seems to be backing the plan.

of money was raised and subscribed for the expenses incident to waging a legal fight and county campaign against the governor candidate for county commissioner, prefect No. 3, was present and addressed the gathering. He was given a letter of condolence and brought forth much applause. He stated that he had a "Lincoln republic"
The next meeting will be held Monday night, July 5, 8:30 clock at the University of Chicago, the promoters of this movement are extremely anxious that the women of our race come out in large numbers to vote. This is largely a racial fight, and if we fail in this cause at political and partisan orphans and outcasts, this also hoped that the colored ministers will stave, from their political power, that they will present of them will be present Monday night," says Campaign Manager Carter. "Everybody has a political freedom, come out to the meeting next Monday night," urges FINANCIAL HELP NEEDED. All persons who are in sympathy with the mandates proceeding now being instituted to get the name of C. F. Richardson on the Republican ballot, to chairman, to be voted upon Saturday, July 24, 1926, are urged to make their checks payable to G. H. Webster, treasurer. Mr. Webster's address is 220 West Dallas, phone 750-7800, tracer and far-reaching cause.

Boss" wield his customary big stick or magic wand and thus cause you to change your mind?
Was your 1924 vote for governor, free or trammelled; willing or forced?
When the late President Warren Gamaliel Harding swept the country in 1920, did you support the republican ticket for president down to constable; or, for business reasons, did you support the national republican ticket and the state democratic ticket, in whole or in part?
Why all this political bumbrec and inconsistency?
If your party is so "regular" and stands for such "party regularity," come and go with us to the 14th congressional district of Texas, where you, Creager and the other partisan tyrants are trying to defeat Congressman Harry M. Wurzbach in his candidacy and rejection and action.
Since the congressman is a "regular" republican and has thrice been nominated and elected by the voters of said district to the lower house of congress, why are you contributing so freely of your wealth to defeat this true and tried republican?
Isn't it a fact that your candidate, Fred E. Knetsch, ran on the democratic ticket in Kimble County in 1922 for county attorney, and was elected to office on said ticket?
Is it a fact that your candidate, the congressional candidate of yours and "Rotten Boss" Creager ran for county of Kimble County in 1924 on the democratic ticket, and, as such candidate, supported and voted for the democratic ticket from stem to stern?
If this is not true, please trot out the records of the county clerk in Kimble County!
Going a bit further—in order to keep the record straight and demonstrate how consistent you and your partisan carpet-haggers are in politics, you should support in Texas—why did Creager-Nole-Lee & Co. urge, endorse and select a lifelong democrat, Knetsch, to support a lifelong and old line republican congressman in the 1926 primaries?
Why did you, sir, become a party to such a movement or agreement that would accord this high honor to a man who has never supported nor voted for a republican candidate, as it is common among the party's members, both your money and influence in a vain and futile effort to bring about the defeat of a genuine, orthodox republican congressman?

Couldn't your "gang" find another republican in the entire 14th congressional district who was willing to pick up the banner of Creagerism and "illly-white-ism," and march forth to the political battlefield to be slaughtered and annihilated by the Wurzbach forces?
Since you are such a stance advocates and believer in "party regularity," and in barring from participation in party affairs and activities all persons who did not support the 1924 klan candidate, little "Georgei" Buttle of Austin (who was never known in republican ranks and councils until selected an the republican-klan candidate to supplant you, when Creager-Nolte &o, bodily kicked you off the republican state ticket after your death, when you were arrested for a crime (waste), why didn't you object strengely and voicelessly to this dictate, and refuse to spend your money in a crazy and foolish effort to save Creager's political scab?
Mr. Lee, you have a great surname—one to conjure with in the people who reside in glass houses, if they have the least bit of horse sense, will be very careful how they hurl stones at others' horse sense; or he attentively政论 or otherwise, should come with clean hands and an unspotted garment; for the law of retribution is immutable and inxorable, and reaping is as sure to follow sowing as night to follow day, or vice versa.
All right, Brer Tom Lee, you have injected yourself into politics and, since you are not playing the game "according to Hoyle," don't get excited, holler nor hot in the collar when we bombard your partisan entrenchments; for often we fire a "Big Bertha" of that only needs to know your address to do its awful and "dirty." Again, Tom, never start a song when you don't know the words in their entirety, or else as a singer or song leader you will be a burst and force!

The main thing an advertiser wants to do is to tell you pligly just how and why his goods are worthy of your consideration. You can learn a great deal from that advice. You can learn what you see in the things you buy and use in your regular daily life. By reading the advertisements, you can learn the names and read descriptions of the things that are test and most instructive.
But advertising teachers more than that. All advertisers try to make their advertisements themselves valuable to you.
A good many people have learned a whole lot about good advertising. They know the healthy, ways to live comfortably, ways to keep the house and grounds looking well - they've learned all these things and many other things just by reading advertisements.
Read the advertisements right along, and you will learn a lot about what is helpful and valuable to you as you go through life.

New Orleans, La.-Betterly attacking Richard Dowling, assistant district attorney and former judge of criminal district court, for alleged disregard of duty and for the part he is accused of playing in the alleged "fixing" plot. Ben Dainly and Walter Hamlin were charged with the same offenses against L. Edward Brandt, deputy sheriff of parish prison, and Edward Palmer, Allegro Negro. The jury reported in Judge A. D. Henrique's section of the criminal district court after two hours of deliberation, answering the plea of Eugene Stanley, assistant district attorney, prosecuting the case, that Brandt should be tried for his role in his duty for not reporting the alleged "fixing" plot.
Judge Humeira rejoined, "That is not notes and the leases but did not con- tinue to voluntarily join the case before Stanley answer- ing," and the criminal district court

Daly declared: "It is discouraging to hear men prate about duty when duty has been so neglected. I am surprised at the state! There is more matter to be done in Borie than there is against Brand and Palmer." Daly declared that the Borie and Palmer were in the attorney. It was insulted by Brand that Dowling and F. W. Borie, who have been named in the alleged "fix-up" of the case, were responsible for carrying out the law. Borie's name had been among those who were indicted that it had been a state witness, with the exception of assistant district attorney Bernard Mackey, who were accomplices. In opening the case for the state, Engineer Stainley said: "It matters not whether you are your duty to convict those accused, irrespective of any part of the law." He is your duty to convict those declared in his closing remarks, that never in the history of criminal practice have the rules of evidence been

Stanley exerted pressure before the grand jury several weeks ago and that body had seen fit to indict only Baldar and Palmer, who is the and is father of Bentice Palmer, 13, Algerian, the "fixing" trial Alvin Olbreu, Algerian, who is charged with statutory offense against Baldar, who is years old, Edward Baldar, who is acquitted in the "fixing" case. Brandt and Palmer accepted the wagga, who it being denied the Brandon mer accepted $3000 to suppress the Abure part. Borie claimed that he and Dowling together were exchanging evidence they thought to impress the part of the Bocage to blackwomen denied the case, the accuse of Dowling denied the case, the part that Borie said he played, but said that he had been asked some questions. He said he said the saw the run notes and the leases but did not connect them with any open case before the trial.
Because of the notoriety and publicity given the case the members of the Co-operative Juvenile Workers Association said, she refused to do. A meeting was called and she was dismissed. The club decided to pay her two month salary for March and April that was paid. Mrs. N. Parnell and Miss C. Azamare were appointed salaried workmen. Thompson is president of the club.

D. 1926, in the Odd Fellows Temple beginning at 3 o'clock p. m., and generally to transact all business looking to the best interest of or that may be deemed wise and expedient and such matters as I have been asked to consider a view to the future growth and perpetuity of our noble Order.

The legally constituted Grand Lodge and Grand Household, the clergy, the clerks and conventional members, together with the duly elected members of the Grand Lodge of Ruth, whose credentials have been duly certified to the office of District Grand Secretary and District Grand Worthy Recorder will be recognized and shall compose the legislative body of each, the Grand Lodge and the Grand Household of Ruth. The payment of Endowment, Burial Tax, Temple Tax (if any), Budget Tax, Grand Lodge and Grand Household Tax is compulsory and no delegate will be seated in either the Grand Lodge or Grand Household whose Lodge or Household he or she represents that person in the payment of any or all of the taxes indicated.
Reduced rates over all Texas railways entering Houston have been granted by the railway companies and delegates and members of the Order, who may wish to attend the Grand Lodge are requested to read the announcement of Jas. T. As Grand Master, may I urge that every Lodge and Household, the Patriarchies, Juvenile Societies, Past Masters' Councils and Ladies' Chambers put forth every effort to have as many representatives of the great host of Odd Fellows and Ruthites of Texas in August. The magnificent Temple is now completed and equipped and will be the center of attraction where the business sessions of both the Grand Lodge and Grand Household will be held. This beautiful temple is located in architecture and construction. The delegates and visitors will enter their new home for the second time since its completion with a sense of pride and satisfaction that is not easily described. Enwrapped in this magnificent Temple is a mute testimony of the loyalty of the membership of the entire Jurisdiction and is also a mute testimony of the success of the temple, gave his last years to see that it was erected and completed and doubtless from the terrible strain under which he labored, caused his untimely passing. For great rejoicing and thanks to Almighty God for the great success and accomplishments of Odd Fellows and Ruthites in the Jurisdiction. May I urge as Grand Master that all delegates come to the Grand Lodge and Grand Household of Ruth imbued with the spirit of co-operation and good will that the successes and accomplishments thus fan had in the past have been greater in the future and more determined than ever that there be no steps backward by the Grand Old Order.
In testimony hereof, I have affixed my signature and caused the Seal of the Grand Lodge to be hereon impressed, this the 15th day of June, A. D. 1926.

"And some fell upon good ground"
The Sower, in the parable, cast his seed to the winds of heaven.
That which landed among the stones, the thorns and in the barren places, perished.
Only the seeds which reached the good ground had a chance to grow.
The modern advertiser does not strew his seed of salesmanship to the winds.
He plants it carefully in the "good ground"—in the places where because of favorable conditions it has a chance to bear a harvest of consumer results.
He uses newspaper advertising because through the newspapers he covers completely the markets which he knows, upon careful investigation, to be right places for his product to flourish.
