BEWARE OF THE RED FLAG OF LILLYISM
Typifies Danger to the Progress of Our State-- Danger to the Republican Party--Threatens the Friendly Relations Between Capital and Labor
Ever our poor old ancestors were hired from their African home by a red handkerchief. Though he can't help it and doubles means no harm by it, yet it is rather significant that the Indian is red, and we all know what kind, of actor he is when he take a notion to perform.
The effort in this campaign to control the people through their ministry is another of the danger signals of the red flag of Lilysian which should be crushed by every patriotic citizen. A prominent member of the Baptist church says that he saw seventeen Negro presachers go into the Lilly headquarters in Welch recently and that five more came down on No. 7 and these were seen to enter the same place. We are not impugning the motives of anybody, we are simply stating a fact. The public can draw its own conclusions. Lilysian thwarts the progress and development of our little mountain state; it threatens the liberty of our citizens; it seeks the disruption and overthrow of the grand old Republican party; it surrenders the natural wealth of the state to predatory interests; it robs generations yet unborn; it undermines the very foundations of self-government by seeking to arraign capital against labor; it attempts to sally the purity of the church by dragging it into the fifth and mire of politics.

WHAT IS THE ANSWER?
In the fifth congressional district convention held in Bluefield Tuesday, two things stand out prominently First: the failure to elect two Negroes as alternates to the Chicago convention when it has been the custom ever since the fifth district was formed, and, second: that Judge J. M. Sanders after making a strong Lilly speech, introduced a resolution to endorse Lilly for governor and with Lilly's friends in control of the convention machinery and the Lilly leaders in including Judge Sanders himself claiming a majority of the delegates for Lilly, yet so strong was the sentiment against endorsement that the able Bluefield ex-Judge upon the advice of strong Lilly leaders was forced to withdraw the resolution fearing the result of a roll call which had been demanded by Mayor Boston of Williamson.
Notwithstanding the fact that Lilly claims his greatest strength in the 5th district and that it is here he is best known, a roll call would certainly have gone against Cousin Abe even in the strong Lilly atmosphere of Bluefield with many of his relatives, including two brothers in attendance. Many delegates who voted for Col. Sol White because of his age and long service in the Republican party would have voted against the endorsement of Mr. Lilly. In fact Mercer county would have divided and a roll call on endorsement would have re- suited as follows:
IT CAN'T BE DONE
The Lilly leaders in McDownty openly admit that as sent in this county is again nomination of their man, a boast is being made that their side has the money, their purpose to put oter at sent on election day which is the county to Lilly. I蒙诺 that this of unscrupulous politicians will attempt to the electorate and the election officers. We do not put this past a year of this bunch leading Lilly's campaign in this season they will find that the group of Republicans in McDownty cannot be purchased supporters suggest to disrupt practices and if an enmade to buy election office will be several Lilly in jail and they will not or devils alone but men his will also peep through an grating. The man in wiorest such high handedorious corruption is after will be repudiated at the point leaders cannot do with men making the last two weeks of campaign what they have for possible to do with money, brass bands, desperate indications, coercion, bluffy other unrighteous polio during the four months. Candidate for The Republican Nomination for State Auditor
JUDGE JOHN L. WHITTEN
Charleston. May 1.—With but little more than a month of campaigning before the state-wide primary, at which the party choice of candidates will be made, Judge John L. Whitten, of Pt. Pleasant, appears, in the opinion of many close observers of the race for the Republican nomination for attorney general' to be well in the lead.
Judge Whitten not only generally recognized as the most seasoned and best informed lawyer among the four candidates, but his pleasing personality and the dignified manner in which he has been making his campaign have won the genuine appreciation of the leaders and voters with whom he has met.
He is a forceful speaker, and his ability as a campaigner has become so well recognized that his ever increasing hosts of friends declare the Republican party cannot afford to put its ticket in the field against the opposition this fall with out the full measure of strength it would gain with Judge Whitten a part of it. Standing on a long record of public service in his home county of Mason, where there is not a dissenting vote in the enthusiastic endorsement of his candidacy, Judge Whitten takes with him in his appeal for support in the rest of the state an excellent recommendation.
His Republicanism, too, throughout his career, has been founded on rock, the principles of the party in both state and nation having been warmly championed by him at all times. He believes in justice and fairness to all, and his friends insist that every department of the State government would have, under his administration, the sanest of legal service on all questions of public welfare. While he has given a good deal of time to his campaign for several months, Judge Whitten will enter into the final weeks of the contest with renewed vigor. His friends predict that he will poll as large vote as the winner for any state office opposed by more than one contestant.

There are several weighty reasons why William F. Hite, of Cabel county, should be nominated in the Republican primary June sixth to be United States senator from West Virginia. Among them are the following:
1st. Mr. Hite is without political alignments of any kind that would embarrass him after election.
2d. He has never participated in fictional fights in his party, but has always made strong pleas for harmony in party ranks.
3d. He has the splendid business qualifications necessary to the office at this particular time. He is a man of pronounced business ability seasoned by a successful business career, able to intelligently cope with the important business questions that are already cropping up with reference to the country's business relations with foreign countries after the European wars have ended.
4th. He is the proven friend of the farmer, the tried friend of good roads, the active friend of education in all its branches.
6th. He is a man who has be trusted by his fellow-men all his life, and who has never broken faith with friend or enemy. He has been four square in every one of his many business transactions involving important business enterprises both in West Virginia and elsewhere when his activities have called him to other fields.
ch. His candidacy was urged and brought about through the solicitation of men who are ardently desirous of harpy in the party. It has been changed then by him. He is in the condition of the admonition, but the form of the war-

rant the assertion. He was personally called upon and urged to candidacy by enemies and friends of the administration. He did not seek the candidacy until it was put up to him in strong words that he owed it to the Republican party and to the state at large to announce for the senate. The above are but half a dozen reasons why Mr. Hite should be the choice of Republicans in the June primary. The people of the State who have personally met and talked with the candidate have, in nine cases out of ten, rallied to his support. They like his appearance, his evidences of earnestness, his unselfish devotion to party, and they do not fail to take cognizance of the fact that he evidences an ability that 1. foreign to a majority of candidates as they go about seeking office.
With Hire in the Senate the vast business interests of West Virginia will have earnest and intelligent representation, and the Republican party will have in high position a man whose every effort will be, in the future as in the past, for harmony, unity, concentration. Weigh all these matters carefully, Republicans, before casting your vote in the June primary. The Republican party cannot afford to turn down this splendid man.
Catarrhal Deafness Cannot Be Cured by local applications, as they cannot reach the discarded portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure catarrhal deafness, and that is by a constitutional remedy, called catarrhal deafness. Catarrhal deafness is condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inflamed you have a rumbling sound or a crack in the ear. Catarrhal deafness is the result. Unless the inflammation can be reduced and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing loss can occur. Your dentist will tell you, if you ask him, that you have gum recession; and that gum recession is caused by pyorrhea.
Unchecked, pyorrhea will warp and shrink and deform the gums. It will break down the bony structure into which the teeth are set—and you will eventually lose them. To save your teeth you will have to begin to fight this dread disease at once.
A specific for pyorrhea has been discovered recently by dental science, and is now offered for daily treatment in Senreco Tooth Paste. Senreco combats the germ of the disease. Its regular use increases your
