THE WHITE MAN IS SEEING
FROM A NEW ANGLE
Minneapolis, Minn. Feb. 10. "The old South is breaking up in more senses than one. Dr. Albert E Jenks, the anthropological expert of the University, has recently pointed out four 'significant movements taking place among the Colored people of this country,' says a rather unusual editorial in the Minneapolis Journal, in an editorial under the caption, "New Tendencies Among Negroes." Continuing the Journal says:
"The first is that the Negro since the Civil War has become a migrant. A million and more have left the South and taken up residence in the northern cities. In the wake of this movement come such race troubles as that which broke out in East St Louis, Chicago and Duluth. 'A second movement is the tendency of the Negro to intermarry with certain white stocks. This amalgamation has been taking place for sometime, but only of late has it become pronounced. In the Eastern cities the Negro is intermarrying with those of South European origin. The effects of such racial mixture are not yet known."
"A third tendency is the increasing political influence of the Colored element. A movement is already on foot for Negroes to elect their own representatives to Congress wherever possible. This effort to acquire a greater political influence is advocated by some of their own leaders. "A fourth movement is toward segregation. This is taking place in at least three separate areas of the south. Negroes flourish better in some regions than whites, and not so well in others. In some parts of the South the whites are decreasing and the Negroes increasing at such a rate that the results must soon be reckoned with.
"The first conclusion to which these tendencies point is that further Negro immigration from the West Indies and Africa should be stopped. The admission of six thousand Colored allens every year from these regions only complicates the problem of racial relations.
"The second conclusion is that unwise. It has not advanced the Colored people of Haitt or Liberia. Proper distribution seems to be the path toward the Negro's development.
"The third conclusion points to the necessity of getting exact data on questions of racial relations and intermixture so that problem arising therefrom may be intelligently handled.

THE PERISCOPE.
"The Soul of America."
(By Associated Negro Press)
"What shall I tell my son?" asks the reputable, intelligent, thirty-successful Negro father. He continues: "Must I sit him down before me in the happy comforts of our home and say: 'My son, I have some very important information to impart to you tonight. I have kept the truth from you for a long time, but you must be told. My son, you belong to an inferior race, and this is a white man's country. Yes, I took the honors in college, and have been eminently successful in business. I have overcome all obstacles and have reared a family of which I am proud, and this home with all its comforts is ours entirely, and we have splendid investments and money in the bank for all emergencies. But son, you are very inferior to any person with a white skin, and in heaven and earth and possibly in hell, the white race is supreme! Must I say that?" He asks.
"What shall I tell my daughter?" asks the charming, cultured beautiful Negro mother. She continues: "Must I place my arms about her and look in her sweet and gentle face and say, 'Daughter, my dear, you have na honor that a white man is bound to respect. You are a more thing, a poor inferior, and all white people are superior and supreme. You must never think of resenting an insult from a white man, in fact you are so near nothing that the great supreme white man cannot insult you, it matters not what he may do. Yes, I know I have taught you about purity and virtue, but wherever you go, remember that a white face means superiority and supremacy."

Men find it a wonderful dressing which takes instant effect upon the most stubborn hair by brushing it after applying this preparation. It is so harmless that mothers have used it successfully upon the heads of their babies to grow hair on the sides and back where it usually rubs off. It will grow Hair with or without the use of hot irons, but when it is dressed the Grower will keep the Hair straight, longer than any other. Price per box, 50 cents.
LOU-AU-GENE
Pressing Oil is an excellent dressing for the Hair making it glossy, straight and beautiful. It also strengthens the Hair and keeps it from becoming brittle. Price per Box 75 cents.
LOU-AU-GENE

STOPPED HER FITS
Mrs Dolla Martin, a resident of Wurtaboro, H. Y., writes that she stopped her fits with a medicine that she read about in the paper. She says she has not had a fit since she took the first dose and that she wants every sufferer to know about this wonderful medicine and what it did for her. If you, a friend, or relative, suffer from these dreadful attacks, you are advised to send name and address at once to R. P. N. Lepso, 194 Island Ave., Milwaukee. Wis. who is generously offering to send a bottle of the same kind of medicine he gave Mrs. Martin, free, to any sufferer who writes him—Adv.
