he Liberty Party is a Political party fostered by the Colored People, they claim that as a component part of the body politic, they are ignored and the very worse set of men of the Negro race in Peoria are chosen to lead them; that no recognition whatever is given, that Negroes are not chosen for jury services etc., and that they feel that this method at this time is timely, and expedient. Hence they have gotten up a full Negro county ticket.
Peoria Colored people are coming to their own. Men like Rev. B. N. Murrey are doing a great work.
My but Peoria is fine all the time, not merely during the fairs and conventions, well you see Peoria has a great river, the Illinois, never saw the Illinois river, go to Peoria.

Peoria Political headquarters believe in Jefferson St, all in six doors of each other are the republicnne, democrat and progressive headquarters.
EDITOR EORUM: I see that the Personal Liberty League is to meet in Peoria, Oct. 19-20th, but no place of meeting is given. It is suggested that they meet at the foot of Hamilton Street on the edge of the river Illinois, where plenty of water is available.
We are not sorry to see the Colored people trying to do what they believe best, but we hope their ambitions, politically, are not overrunning their wisdom and good judgment
The Liberty Party, if it has a real mission, is not suicidal and vice versa, however.
We notice The Advance Citizen has gone back on the G. O. P. Third time this paper has strayed from the fold, will it return next Spring for succor and for bread?

The more we come in contact with Dr. John A. Wheeler during the present campaign and become familiar with his ways the better we like him. Not that he is at the present time assuming to be something he is not, for, above all things, Dr Wheeler is of even-temperament, whether in the midst of a campaign or in the quite activity of private life.
He is a large man physically and has a heart which pulsates with kindness and insists upon a square deal for all, regardless of color or creed.
No man could have been nominated who possesses such admirable qualities for the offie of sheriff. From all parts of the county there come reports of the esteem in which Dr. Wheeler is held, and we predict for him the largest vote ever given to a candidate for a county office in Sangamon County. And Dr. Wheeler merits the confidence and support of all the people.

FOR STATE TREASURER
The Republicans have nominated in the person of Andrew Russel, of Jacksonville, a very able, popular and beloved man. A man who has demonstrated merit and conserved energy. He has shown by his large following, that he has the confidence and esteem of his constituents. He has been a true and faithful adherent to the republican party and her principles and not one honest man has ever attempted to prove that he is other than a true and tried friend to every man. The Colored peeple will find him to be a man who believes in all men up who deserve to be raised up. He is the fittest man for the office to which he is now seeking and our state will be honored by electing him. The Colored people over the state have been staunch Russel supporters in the past and we are sure they have not been estranged from him—no not one.
The Forum can endorse him in the highest terms and recommend him to the electorate of this great state as a champion of the right. A man of worth and integrity. Greater need hath no man than these requisites.
PEORIA POLITICAL Louis J. Gauss
Louis J. Gauss, Republican candidate for county Treasurer, made a most excellent record as assistant county treasurer and his experience in the work of the office well fits him for the place to fill the position as head of that offie. He is an aspiring young man, honest, and has a good congenial disposition. No one can or will say he is not obliging and accommodating to all, regardless of whom you are or your station in the affairs of men. His campaign in the primaries was clean and dignified. The Colored republicans should give him their hearty support November 3rd. History has demonstrated repeatedly that, the republican men as a whole, give the Colored man a better chance in life and better recognition and treatment than any other party so far.

Republican candidate for county Clerk is the man to support for that office. He has given Peoria one of the best records it has ever had, and his work is thorough, his experience is such that he is the best qualified man on the ticket. He is liberal and fair, he treats every man with due courtesy and is accommodating to all. He rep. resents a party which has done more for the Negro than all other parties combined, the republican party. We do not know of a more fair and obliging man. You will do yourself justice as well as the G. O. P. if you vote for Heinrich for county Clerk.
W. A. Clinch
Republican candidate for Probate Judge. Mr. Clinch is one of the finest men Peoria has ever had in public office. He lives at Elmwood and is a lawyer by profession. One year ago he was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Judge Otman. He has proven worthy to be elected to fill the regular term. We can afford to ask every Colored voter and white one too in the county to vote for Mr. Clinch. He is a clean man and an honest upright gentleman. He accords every one that same courteous treatment, and all work in his court receives careful attention.
The office is a very important one, it has the probating of wills and the settling of all claims after death. You want a good honest man for such a place, Judge Clinch is such a man. Vote for the Judge.

SATURDAY, OCT. 17, 1914
Is there any reason why every Colored man in this county can not vote for L. E. Wheeler for Congress?
Ex-Postmaster L.E. Wheeler is the republican candidate for Congress, do you want a democrat or a republican National Legislative body?
Maybe those Boston Braves (B B's) are all K. of P's.
Thy name shall no longer be Home Run Baker, but Home Run Gowdy.
They had to bring Devore, you can't have a worlds' series without some sign of the N. Y. Giants.
Elijah, when he ascended, dropped his mantle, (symbol of power) on Elisha, and Elisha was as Elijah, powerful — Maybe that is what Matthewson did to James.
The Advance Citizen, for a while, the Peoria Citizen, is supporting the entire democratic ticket of Peoria county. Mr. Bowman, the editor of the paper avers by innuendo, that the republicans ignored him of his propositions and he can't live and eat this winter on the cool breeze that blows up Fulton street from the majestic Illinois.
L. Y. Sherman, from indications will beat 'em to a "frazzle." Sherman is a "mighty" able man and can handle that bunch from Dixie.
Nearly every fellow gets an automobile just as soon as he can, so what's the use of cussing out your neighbor and accusing him of mortgaging hishome," just because you had no home to mortgage and therefore, have not as yet, gotten yourself an automobile? Be just-be kind-hearted—be honest—be sincere—Do unto others as you would that others should do unto you. See. It does not mean for you to do unto others as they may do unto you—turn good for evil even—this is the command of Jesus, the Christ.
Out of the "chosen 15," beauty contest of the New York Age, New York City had 5, 1/3 of the whole St. Louis had one, Philadelphia two, Baltimore one, Boston one, New Orleans one, St. Paul one, Wyoming one, and California one. It will be noted that Illinois, with Chicago, Peoria, Decatur, and
Springfield, was not represented. What is the matter with Illinois? Mississippi was not in at all. The prettiest colored girls in the world reside at Jackson, Miss., and Chicago is supposed to lead in everything good and bad.
Wanted in Peoria, a lawyer, a dentist, two up-to-date groceries, a millinery shop and several other important businesses. We are going to have them too—Our enterprising ministers are taking the lead. P.S. We do not need any more "politicians" here, however — don't misunderstand the call.
The Colored people of Peoria are to be commended for buying homes with such rapidity.
NOTICE, DANVILLE AND CHAMPAIGN
The manager of the Forum or the representative, will be in the above named cities next week to "write up" the towns and establish live agencies. Champaign and Danville are two prosperous cities and our people need to be represented. There is a larger number of colored students in the U. of I. than ever before in the history of that great institution and that is a propitious sign—the colored people see the need of educating beyond "riting," "reading," and "rithmatic."
NOTICE: when you have local news, such as visitors, sickness, parties, etc., Tel. 2720 and let us make note of the same in our city locals, also your church notes etc. This is gratuitous.
The Forum is pleased to note that it has secured the moral and intellectual support in Peoria of such men as Dr. S.A. Askew, Rev. B.N. Murrell and other men of Peoria. Peoria is a city of vast opportunities; she has very fine white people and a class of colored people who appreciate worth and energetic men.
This paper considers itself congratulated on having the support and good will also of such men as Judge Stone, Senator Daily and all of the County officers with whom we have formed an acquaintance. We also consider this as much a Peoria paper as Springfield or Decatur and are long we shall give Peoria a more conspicuous part in the general makeup of the paper, as we have done for Decatur. All we ask the white people to do is to recognize the fact that all Negroes are not alike and a person or thing is what he or it, proves to be, all that glitters not being gold to the contrary, notwithstanding.
What became of that $25,000, 000 gift which Secretary Bryan proposed to present to Colombia?

What has become of it? They have never collected from the war tax yet. There is a war tax bill of $100,000,000, just as soon as enough stamps are sold we will pay Colombia, our credit is good for $25,000,000, sure.

It was the finest, the fastest and the best. There were less errors and less hits this year than any previous game, also less runs.
In the first game Boston made 7 runs to Philadelphia 1. Boston making 1 error and the Phillies none. Bender pitched for Philadelphia and Rudolph for Boston.
In the second game Boston made 1 run, got 7 hits and 1 error, while Maack's men never scored, got 2 hits and 1 error. Plank pitched for the Phillies and James for Boston, James proving to be the greatest Pitcher since the balmy days of Christy Matthewson.
In the third game it was a long drawn out battle, Tyler was pitcher for Boston, assisted by James, while Bush pitched for the Phillies. Devore of the New York Giants played in this game. It took 12 innings to settle this battle and Boston won. Gowdy hit for a home run. Score: Boston 5; Philadelphia 4. Boston 9 hits, 5 runs and 1 error. Philadelphia 8 hits, 4 runs and 2 errors.
In the fourth game Boston won; score: Boston' 3, Philadelphia 1. In this game Rudolph pitched for Boston, while Pennock and Shawky pitched for Philadelphia. 6 hits for Boston and 7 for Philadelphia. No errors for either team.
This was, no doubt, the cleanest and best series of games ever before played. Evers and Stallings used brain work and out generalized Connie Mack at every turn.

What we want in Decatur is a large reading clientele. Every Colored man who can read should read the Forum. We also want you to have some regards for your word or promise. When you say you will come up to the office on a certain day and pay, you should do so. It is your bounden duty to do so or give a reason, you forgot it is no reason. Every business firm will do well to advertise. We are trying to help Decatur. Help us help you.
IMMORALITY CHARGED AGAINST NEGRO BAPTISTS.
In a late issue of the Philadelphia Tribune, of which Mr. CHRIS J. PERRY is editor, direct, severe and serious charges are made against some of the Baptist ministers, who recently attended the National Baptist Convention held in Philadelphia. Editor PERRY does not mince words. If one-half of what the Philadelphia Tribune alleges against the conduct of some of these Baptist ministers is true, it represents a very serious condition—one that the Baptist fraternity cannot fail to give attention.
The officers of the National Baptist Convention cannot afford to ignore these charges. They should be taken up, investigated and something given out to the public concerning them. The time has long passed when it pays to cover up or attempt to cover up the filth of the minister.
Let us have the light. We call upon President E. C. MORRIS and other officers of the National Baptist Convention to make an investigation and then speak out. The public demands information. The ministers who are guilty, if there are such, should be condemned. Those who are innocent should be exonerated.
The New York Age.
This is the correct position to take in the premises.
Of course, according to law, these "defendants" are presumed innocent until proven beyond a reasonable doubt, that the charges are true. They, the ones charged, and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, only know, but "murder will out," and time will tell. We hope the charges an IGNIS FATUUS.

GEORGIA EDITOR WILL TAKE FOWLS FOR PAY.
The Georgia Baptist has hit upon a novel plan to aid its delinquent subscribers who have been hard hit by failure to market their cotton crop owing to the European war. Those who want to pay their subscriptions in eggs, chickens and other marketable products may do so by simply sending a sufficient quantity to the Georgia Baptist office, provided the express charges are prepaid, and due credit will be given.
The Rev. C. T. Walker is editor of this paper, which was founded by the late Rev. W. J. White, and his friends view him with jealous eyes and watering mouths as they think of the many chicken dinners that he will have while the war is going on. NEW YORK AGE The Forum will gladly accept the above "live" articles, and even more, you may bring in later on, rabbits, apples, pumpkins, 'possums, potatoes and most anything, but old clothes and nest eggs.

WEEKLY POEMS. (For your Reflection)
The Melancholly days are here,
The saddest of the year.
And every time I think of home,
It makes me shed a tear.
That dear old home, my native
heath,
Oh how I long for thee,
But sadder still when I reflect,
That mother I ne'er shall see.
Those youthful days, and play-
mates too,
Those times I'll ne'er forget.
Lord God of host to thee we pray,
Lest we forget, lest we forget.

If there be any misunderstanding or differences between any candidates and any considerable number of colored people let them see each other and reconcile them, if possible, that is the only sensible way and remedial method to take. If a certain portion of certain people find they can't conscientiously support any man, Republican, Progressive, or Democrat, they have that privilege, but let us all be honest and consistent.
