JOHN C. TULLOCH COUNCILMAN 6TH WARD. One among the best known business men in this city is Mr. Jno. C. Tulloch who has been urged by his friends to enter the race for Councilman in the new additional ward known now as the Sixth. Mr. Tulloch did not want his clothes torn off him in our recent cold spell hence he consented and today he is a full fledged candidate ready to be baptised on Saturday next. It will be remembered in the caly days of trouble Mr. Tulloch set his sails for Kansas from the state of Iowa, he was no politician then nor now, he is an honest advocate of the Republican principles and no man need be afraid to have a hearing with him for he can easily be approached. For over fourteen years Mr. Tulloch has been a representative coal dealer but recently consolidated with the Webster and Tulloch has made no actice campaign believing on the merits of his friends to land him safely 'o'er which castophe will take place on Saturday next. HIS POSITION Mr. Tulloch has had plenty of experience with the present Water System and if nominated Saturday and elected in April will use every honorable effort in securing the system commonly talked as 'Topeka owning its own Water system.' It is not neccessy to give a more extensive sketch of Mr. John C. Tulloch for he is "to well known to add any more lustre to his good name and fame" He will be nominated, every voter in the Sixth Ward may look for good mes and great changes if Mr. Tulloch gets in the Council chamber. Vote for him on Saturday next. MR T.E.SHEARD For Member of School Board. 4th Ward. One among our best citizens is Mr. Thomas Sheard who seeks to become a member of our city school board. Mr. Sheard has lived in this city for 15 years, and has resided in the 4th ward for 13 years. He is a property owner of considerable amount in this city he has been urged by the voters of the 4th ward who favor a modern school on the old Sumner school site. If Mr. Sheard is nominated and elected this spring there will be no idleness on his pact, but will use every honorable effort to secure the erection of a modern school building now vacant on this site. Mr. Sheard has some distinction from the fact that he contributed a son to the Phillipines Company A, 20th Kans. and who became famous with that company as an American and his candidacy should receive the support of 211 intelligent voters. SNATTINGER For Councilman--3rd Ward One of the most prominent citizens who wants to be nominated for Councilman in the third ward is Mr. M. Snattinger who has been one of the oldest and most reliable business men in this city For many years he was formerly of the firm of Barnum and Co., but for the last twelve months having severed his connection he holds a desk at present in the Building and Loan Association office 115 West sixth street. Mr. Snattingers campaign is managed by his affable son-in-law better known as Mr. Doc. Newman who is well acquainted with the colored people throughout this city. Every one knows Mr. Newman who is giving a good deal of his time and attention to his father- in-law's campaign This means he is on gaining ground and ere long we shall see. Mr Snattinger is one of those capable and conscientious business men who knows nothing but Topeka and its progress. If elected member of the City Council every one can rely upon him being a just man and one who will represent the interest of all classes. Let us respect ourselves and as as rule others will respect us. We. we suppose that John E. Epps is still riding his 'Jim Crow' Car hobby. Any man who needlessud stirs strife between the two race in the Southland is the enemy of both. Respect vely referred to John E. Epps and his Jim Crow' Car supporters. Money runs this country, if you have it all right—if you have in its all wrong that is all there is to it. Hence its nice to be a society dude, but its much nicer to save money to support most anything you want. Don't let us forget that the white in Southland who too, were nursed by mammies will wield a powerful influence in our behalf. Colored men, do not forget that our white friends sympathize us even though they seem to be unable to stem the tide of oppression against us. Colored men, let us save our earnings and not be extravagant. Education in this country is great but money is greater. Let us be manly, polite and God fearing. Let us not mistake politeness for cringing or cringing for politeness, Stand up, colored men stand in the face of it all, and if you are to die, meet it boldly and go "shouting home to glory. RICHMOND PLANET. PROBATE JUDGE. Mr. H. J. Beville, who in to day's issue announces his candidate for Probate Judge, is a well known and a popular resident of Shawnee County having lived in Topeka for over fourteen years. In 1885 he entered the employ of the A. T. & S. F. railroad in the Auditor's office, which position he occupied for over four years. He was appointed chief clerk of the Probate Judge's office by Judge Elliott in January '91, and continuously occupying this position for seven yeas, thereby securing an invaluable education in the intricate workings of the office. It is not given to many men to gain the confidence and esteem of the public so throughly as Mr. Bevelle has done. He has always been extremely popular, not only for his courtesy and desire to please, which are among his distinguishing characteristics but for the thoroughness with which he accomplishes every thing he undertakes and the marked intelligence he brings to bear on difficult questions. He is not without political experience having served as Republican representative before coming to Kansas, and is intensely loyal to his party. Certainly the Republicans of Shawnee County are highly favored in having such a man as Mr. Bevelle in the race for Probate Judge. Ex. Mr. Bevelle will make a first class official in that capacity. He has served in that office long enough to know just how to manage the affairs of it. He is honest, capable and efficient. When he was in the office as clerk here-to-fore he made it a specialty to serve all classes alike. No voter need be ashamed to vote for Mr. Bevelle, he is all right. When Jesus wept he didn't weep because he was such a coward, neither was he afraid but because there were fools whom he came to save that railed him and didn't know what they were doing. And just so it is today, men will revile us simply because they don't know any better or just because some big mouth enemy comes along and speaks ill of us he to takes the burden to himself and begins to kick and snort such causes his own defeat: BROWN CHAPEL: Rev. WEBER FOR COUNCILMAN 4th WARD We notice in the last issue of the GOOD CITIZEN that Mr. W, F. Weber was quoted as being against the ordinance and in favor of Vice License, the same is a gross injustice te him Mr Weber is one among our most prosperous and substantial merchants, and he is out and out in favor of the enforcement of all municipal laws. Had Mr. Hilton, the head pusher of this little sheet gone into the ward where Mr. Weber res'des he would have been sorely disappointed and received a cold reception. Just such nothingness sheets as the Good CITIZEN will tend to increase Mr. Weber's majority over his opponent next Saturday, Above all things Mr. Weber is a gentlemen of exemplary standing he belongs to no ring, no clique, no schemeing gang of ridiculous politians; no truthful man can say a word ill of Will F. Weber; he is always willing and ready to show favor wherever merit demands. If the readers of this paper fail to turn out Saturday to nominate this good man they will make a n irreparable mistake. Vote for W F, Weber. The snubbing class of office seekers must go in t he coming primaries. He needs no introduction to the voters of this county as he has always been an active member of the Republican party and has never held any elective office. He stands well with all classes, and if he has an enemy it is wholly unknown. Mr Fagan is the present County Auditor which position he has held for some time with honor to his constituents and a credit to himself.
