Brown were in attendance at the operation. The patient came to the hospital on Monday and it was seen that her physical condition was so that she could not give birth. The physicians decided on an operation and on Tuesday, the mother was placed on the table, an incision was made in her breasts and the nine pound youngster removed. The wound was then sewed up and the mother returned to a quiet bed where she
Things did not go so well with the youngster at first and physicians worked on him for a half hour before they could get him to utter a cry or breathe properly. "Lily Whites" Win and Lose
National Committee in Chicago Hearing 137 Contests, Mostly in South
Lily White White Delegation from Louisiana Loses To Black and Tans.
Chicago, June 3. The disposition of many Southern whites who have allied themselves with the Republican party to stifle the colored voters clamoring for recognition within the party councils was aimed this week at meetings of the Republican National Committee to consider contests over the seats of the 137 delegates, most of them from the South, the work of the committee is preliminary to the holding of the Republican National convention here week.
At the Congress Hotel, where the hearings are being held, repositive colored men from repouss Soudan are appearing in appearance against the practices of white Republican politicians. In several States colored men are on each of delegates chamoring for recognition. In meeting of the National Committee has attracted leading politicians of both races, the vanguard of the party, expected to arrive at the end of the week. The contests present various phases of the hearings to exclude from the party councils. In Virginia and Arkansas there were entire white delegations elected at convention, including clubs. The Arkansas convention won out Monday.
John A. Hibbler a contestant, asserted that many colored delegates were not allowed to attend the state convention dominated by the Renmin faction for that reason and to organize a convention of their own.
The two delegates named by the so-called regulars of the District of Columbia won over the testing team on Tuesday. Jasper, the governor of Washington, is the colored delegate and Dr. C. H. Marshall, alternate.
W. H. W. Mison, of Solna, Ala., contesting a seat from Alabama, failed to appear and his white opponent was given the place.
LOUTSIAK REGULARS WIN
A white faction in Louisiana was denied seats in the convention Tuesday, and the faction headed by Emile Kuntz was voted as the proper one. Walter L. Coben is a member of the winning delegation.
The fight of the contesting delegations in Georgia was largely along race lines. The Democratic insurgent delegation and Henry Lincoln Johnson, former Recorder of Deeds at Washington, heads the rebellion to have $10,000 into Georgia to get the Pickett delegation and the Lowden forces are said to have sent Johnson $3,000. Mr. Johnson is armed with a pistol in the country, and his delegation has endorsed him for national committeeman. Johnson Ben Davis and other colored leaders helped carry out the rebellion in the committee twelve years ago and Henry Bruns, a Savannah Hebrew, was named in his place. As Bruns did not suit H. S. Rockson, white, eight years ago, Jackson is now fighting the leadership of Johnson, asserting that it would retard for fifty years building a state in the Governor's state by the whites of the South. Johnson ally argued his side of the matter Tuesday. His forces are committed to the county of Illinois. THE TEXAS FIGHT "Gooseneck Bill" McDonald, a Fort Worth Banker, a Fort Worth Banker, from Texas, largely composed of colored men. They hooted a convention largely dominated by whites at San Antonio, Texas. He has a contesting delegation composed largely of colored men headed by J. R. Pollard. Richmond lawyer. Pollard claims that the whites "froze" the coloration of their convention at Roanoke. North Carolina has a similar contest and there are two sets of delegates from South Carolina, both which have colored men.

St. Louis Justice Sets Precedent In Trial of Replevin Case.
Probably First Time in Ame ica that All Colored Jury Has Been Impanelled.
St. Louis, June 2—For the first time, perhaps in the history of the country, twelve colored men were selected to serve on a jury. They were known when three or four members of the jury in a single case were colored, but there is no record of more than one man serving on any single jury. The case was that of Henry Dutley against Laurel Shelby, on a writ of repulence and on a jury selected by the men selected were: Jesse J. Crow, Wm. Moran, M. Brookfield, Market H. Higgins, W. H. Murphy, John Carpenter, B. Ooax, M. A. Anderson, D. Been Holloway and B. E. Harris. After the jury had been selected and were in their places it was decided that plaintiff was not in court and the case was continued. Colored jurors were first introduced in the Fourth District of Poege through the influence of Constable Charles A. Turpin during his term in the Fourth District Court. Joseph Furling, counsel for the plaintiff, was more than forty years practice as a lawyer he had never before seen a colorful colored jury. Justice McChussey declared that all persons concerned with the case should be seen to him perfectly fair and proper that colored jurymen should make the decision.

Democrats. However, Displaced Over Prospect of Colored Men Supplanting Whites.
From all the disturbance in the City Council chamber Monday afternoon, one might have thought there was under discussion the question of curbing the opponent in the city administration. Expressions like "traitor" "fair play" and Negro, with a short e, were handed back and forth in the called meeting the commission fails.
The question under discussion was the constable ordinance which contains the nominees of the Republican and Malon Democrats only, meeting out the Kelly men
Councilman McCaim, Dickerman and Schlumberger, the last two white, voted to report the ordinance to the First Branch as it stands. Hutchweiler, white, refused to sign the favorable report of the ordinance, because it contained the nominees of Metcalm and Fitzgerald. Beverly Smith, the other Democratic nominee, did not present. An effort will be made to get Smith to sign the favorable report by next Monday and if unsuccessful, it is said, the light will be taken to the floor of the First Branch City Council, due to the white Republicans in the city that the colored constables must be manned. Friends of the ordinance pointed out that even if it passed the council and did not contain the colored constables, Mayor McCaim deciding would be to vote it.

A good-bossed young man walks in a dressed shoestyle silhouette. Pretender and gaited store owner sells silly tricks. The proprietor turned down a number of garments striped green, yellow and purple for which he asked various customers to pick them. The proprietor called several other purchasers to his aid in picking out the preacher to pick out $12.20 for a $15 garment and walked out of the store. In response to inquiry the proprietor said it was not good for him to stirrers to one customer, especially to stage people and devotees of the race to one customer, it necessary to "put on a good front."

THE E. A. WELTERS TOOTH POWDER COMPANY, incorporated five years ago, with a capitalization of $5,000.00 with stock sold at $10.00 per share, is now a corporation, capitalized at $100,000.00 with NO SHARES FOR SALE AT ANY PRICE, yet it is understood that a small number of shares have been donated by some of the larger stock holders for certain Dentists and Druggists whose names have already been listed, and will be called on personally in the near future by the President of the Company.
The Dentists, and Druggists who will be solicited were selected by the Directors of the Company because of their progressiveness and the great advertising value that their connection will mean in the distribution of this exceptional dentifice to the race throughout the United States.
The demand for the Weters' Tooth Powder has grown steadily during the past six months that their manufacturing facilities are entirely too limited and has forced the management to make immediate arrangement for their larger plant to be erected in Baltimore, to properly care for the increased business. Not only in the United States has their demand greatly increased, but in England, France, Cuba, British Indies and other foreign points.

Beauty is the first present that Nature gives to a woman Unless proper care is given the skin, as well as the hair, this beauty is the first that is taken away. The power of beauty in a woman is inestimable—how important, how necessary, therefore, it be that she should look her best—improve the charms that Nature bestowed upon her.
Now some women are endowed by Nature with a bright soft skin-but others not so fortunate, can acquire that youthful complexion-and what's more desired a light, smooth skin, just by the use of two toilet preparations known as the Black and White Beauty Treatment.
BLACK and WHITE Ointment and Soap make up the BLACK and WHITE Beauty Treatment. This name was given by those who used the two and secured gratifying results. Both are made and recommended for the skin. Women everywhere—those whose skin is dark especially—are loud in their praise of the wonderful skin brightening properties of this wonderful BLACK and WHITE Beauty Treatment. Testimonial have come to us unsolicited from all parts of the world.
Black and White Ointment and Soap are easy to use—as delightful as cold creams and skin lotions. You wash your face with warm water and Black and White Soap. This opens the pores of the skin. Then mix according to directions the Creamy Ointment. Leave this on the skin—face, hands, neck or arms—overnight, and the next morning wash off with Black and White Soap and warm water. Repeat this treatment for several nights—the first application will show results in a very short time you will be deigned.
Black and White Ointment and Soap will also remove pimples, stop itching and heal irritated conditions of the skin.

Improve your complexion
Black and White Soap has other uses beside the relief of complexion troubles—it makes an excellent shampoo—a quarter of a cake shaved in a pint of boiling water makes a liquid shampoo. For baby's bath and after shaving it has no equal. Put a cake on your wash-stand—let everyone enjoy the pleasures and satisfaction of a pure medicated soap. Black and White Ointment sells for 25c and 50c a box—Black and White Soap for 25c a box. The 50c size contains three times as much as the 25c—one large box and a bar of soap will last a long time. If your druggist won't supply you—send to us and both Ointment and Soap will be mailed you postpaid on receipt of price.
If you want to know more about the Black and White Beauty Treatment—and the other Black and White Toilet Preparations—write Dept. R. H. M. for sample and a copy of the book "Birthday Readings."
You can make money telling your friends about Black and White Preparations. Ask about it when you write.

Both sides hit the ball hard but errors kept the score from mounting much higher. Fenton, at short stop, was the principle offender in both games, missing three out of nine chances in the first game and two out of nine in the second game.
Logan pitched the second game for the Black Sox and kept the Stars from scoring except in the sixth when they put three runs over.
