THREE GET FOREMAN JOBS IN CHICAGO POSTOFFICE Photo by Eicha. New York. WATSON IS TAKEN BY DEATH AT MINNESOTA HOSPITAL It was shortly before 10 o'clock, Tuesday morning, when the funeral cars drove up to the Indiana Ave. entrance of the Pilgrim Baptist church, 33d St. and Indiana Ave., bringing the members of the family and mourning friends of Rev. S. E. J. Watson, pastor of Pilgrim, who died at the Mayo Brothers' clinic in Rochester, Minn., last Thursday. Included in the number were Mrs. Lena B. Watson, Topcka, Kans., and J. B. Watson, Boley, Okla.; sisters, Mrs. Bessie Nelson, Tuskogee, Ala.; Mrs. Ida Matthews, Okmulgee, Okla., and Mrs. Laura Fields, Boley, Okla. Sadness reigned on that corner, despite the fact that more than 3,000 people had massed themselves on all sides of the church, fighting for entrance so that they, too, might pay tribute to their departed leader. A deathly stillness fell upon the huzzing throng as the family M. H. A deadly stillness fell upon t of Rev. Watson alighted from the cars and slowly mounted the outside steps of the church. A way was quickly cleared and soon the procession had passed. Then the guards at the door were forced to exert themselves to the extent of their physical and persuasive force to keep back the thunderous crowd participating in the ceremony. The impatient streams from a piece inside the church were audible as the procession itself passed down the aisle in the main hallway, where 1,000 more were assembled representing those who had been fortunate enough to gain entrance by hours of their office or value to the church. **Developer Ones Services** Soon all were seated and the congent, appraising tours of the organ began to snail into the tune of the Dovey, which was sung softly to open the services. The prayer was then shuffled, under the direction of Prof. James A. Mundy, joined in the chanting of their funeral anthem, "Son of the Righteous." The audience listened with uplifted heads, but with their hearts, downcast by their bereavement. A glance over the heads of the even rows of those seared disclosed a view draped in elegant purple. Above it, on both sides, towered mountaint-like wreaths of the sweetest and oldest flowers. Like flowers, they guard the one who no person really beneath. Below them other delicate floral designs, somnual and fragrant. The book was read by Dr. A. M. Townsend of Nashville, Tenn., corresponding century of the book, and then followed by a brief. C., July 24—All efforts to involve President Coolidge in a controversy over the Ku Klux Klan will be ignored entirely. The hundreds of letters recently sent him following the announcement he was to be invited to address and review an assembly of that secret order in Washington next month—including the invitation itself—will go unanswered. These letters will never be "officially received." An acknowledgment to this effect was forthought from an authoritative source in the summer White House at Swampcott, Mass. The letters, which he himself will follow the same course he pursued in the 1920 campaign when similar and unsuccessful efforts were made to secure him from his assignment of "his views on the Islam." Klan Controversy A revival of the Klan controversy threatened over the week-end following the announcement that Colonel Robert S. Baldwin, the buildings and grounds, has written the president asking for instructions as to what action he should take on a request for the order for permitting the president to natural annexation of the Washington park system, for their assembly, close to President Coolidge made no attempt to disguise the fact that the executive is somewhat put out by the reported action of Sheriff, who incidentally, is a military officer. The president feels it was a inessential move, and he has no intention of replying should the letter he "rejected" Communications on the subject continue to pour in at the temporary executive offices in Lynn, how- Society Writes Among the latest organizations to write in to the president is the Holy Name society, a Catholic organization that has cited this address as a reason why the executive "should be willing to greet an organization of Protestants." C., July 24—Plains for an anti-Klux Klan demonstration in Washington on Aug. 15 have been rejected by Lieutenant Colonel C. O. Sherrell, director of public buildings and public parks. The request for an anti-Klux demonstration came to him from Ray, N.J., where he had been on anti-Klux candidacy for governor of that state. Colonel Sherrell takes the ground for a permit for the demonstration to forbid any politiced demonstrations on public property in the national capital. For that reason he will not issue a permit for the demonstration to forbid any politiced point on the mail. Reports indicate that the anti-Klux demonstrators may be arrested in Washington without using any government property. It is not known just what backstory it is. H. Lawson had for his testimony. The permit provides that they can use the theater for a memorial service, but that there shall be no political speeches made. The permit also bans fireworks or other form of illumination. The theater fans in Kansas City have gone on a modern Bert Williams, who is absolutely the best comedian on the stage today, not exceeding the "Great Gang" Sam Titusell, one of the most original comedians of the day, keeps constantly humorous and situations in all the work he turns out. As a fun man, he is a character he goes over the top in the manner he creates some very humorous situations and never deviates from his plan to get more out of his part than did Sam. He would be impossible for any comedian to hear in his earnings and dress, he is 100 percent. Each and every day there is Sam does a dance, and a very ordinary line of scientific steps are provided. He also knows how to put over a comedian's remarkable voice; but he does know the art of making use of the voice he does not have. He lives without any apparent effort, which gives it a natural finish that is the earworm from registering comedy expressions off stage in the very plain and good buff, jolly and a real fellow with a good worker who finds great pleasure in pleasing his audience.
