The Colored clerk asked, why and what he sent to the kitchen door. For speed was the response of the cashier, who was the door for speed but comfort quietly turned the clerk and insisted upon service, whereupon tendering a dollar for the change offered it to the clerk

This restaurant is leased for the purpose of serving the employees in the city, and it has a capital in a government building of a nation, proclaiming that it is making the world safe for democracy, when the people denied service represented by the government, their "bit," not only their "bit" in the recent war, are forced the inconvenience of no service in the city, and are accepted from the Mitchen window.

The campaign of preparation for the drive is being rapidly organized and the country among all races. In order that the race may be adequately organized in the field of its contribution to this effort, following the grouped idea, a Colored Adolphus Lewis has been loaned by the Laymen's Missionary Movement to serve as director for this division. The grouped idea, compliment, but it is first of all a signal recognition of the executive
During the war period just closing, no people have suffered more than the Armenians and Syrians many of these men, women and children have been deported and killed by order of the Turkish Government, under the Armenian and Syrian conditions. Thousands of them are many times from home in the wilderness, in a homeland, desolene, perilous condition and will die of privation and starvation during this winter unless we give them relief. So great are the needs of these people, that

the President of, the United States, having made two former appeals in their behalf felt constrained to issue a third proclamation for this purpose, the same. We have also estimated that about 4,000,000 Armenian, Syrian, Greek and other war sufferers in the Near East will require outside help to sustain their families. The vast majority of them are now hundreds of miles from their homeland. The vast majority of children, including 400,000 orphans. The American Committee for Relief in the Middle East has a minimum of $30,000,000 to be subscribed January 12-19, 1919, with the assistance of these people. We can call upon the people of the United States to make even more generous contributions than they have made heretofore to those who, through no fault of their own, have been left without food and to help establish these ancient and sorely oppressed people in their former homes.

Estimate Five Years Required To Compile-War Records.
TO THE SOLDIERS AND SAILORS OF AMERICA;
Approximately four million officers and men of the Army and Navy are under government for a grand total of almost thirty-seven billion dollars. You owe it to yourself and to your insurance company. It is the strongest, safest, and cheapest life insurance ever. For your protection Ucman Sickle is the greatest life insurance company as might, and generous, and as democratic as the United States Sam protected you and your loved ones during the war, so he stands ready to help you through the days of readjustment.
and peace.
The privilege of continuing your government insurance is a valuable benefit. You will receive compensation for your heroic and trumpet services. If you permit yourself to be right and you will never be able to pay for your services, you present insurance—by the regular payment of premiums—you will able to change it into a standard government examination. Meanwhile you present insurance will write ordinary life insurance, twenty-payment life, endowment insurance, for the benefit of usual forms of insurance. This will be Government insurance—at Government rates.
United States Government—through the Bureau of War Risk Insurance of the Treasury Department—will provide loved ones with the spirit and purpose of a Republic grateful to its people. Self of this protection, you must keep up your present insurance, Carry your own insurance, and an asset, the continued insurance protection of the United States Government.
Hold on to Uncle Sam's Insurance.

Suffice it to say that for a half hour I struggled and pushed and shoved and when I did get through I found that I had traveled just one square. I had been immediately thereafter to walk a long along the Boulevard Des Capucines. There again I struggled, with the help of a man who passed all kinds of small parades—each ball, each squirrel, each etsy and each squirrel. On such a crowd I saw was made up of soldiers of all kinds, the head of a cannon, which had been from the exhibit of thousands of captured German airplanes, cannon and rifle, which was pulled by a great number of men and on it was seated an army of stripes and yelling for all he was worth. /Oconetti was being stripped and stripes and yelling for all he was worth. /Oconetti was being stripped and stripes and yelling for all the girls, a privilege which I was told was reserved for the soldiers only, how she screamed and struggled, she was released only when she
On many street corners were musicians, singing and playing beautifully in the Allies and the President of the United States. I saw two young women carrying an American soldier who continually grieved the people with "Vive La France." When on a walk home, I suddenly found myself enthralled with several young women and semi-soldier who for a long time had been manly while I stood in the center. THERE IS HOPE.
It may be that Mr. Wilton, being able to die over little or none of his country, was impelled to go abroad with the hope of finding it in shell-crackedurns, buried in marsh-Iden Europe, but instead the drowned were red with the blood of the innocent, how now the colling of the light of liberty, of the light of liberty, are strugging up in numbers and in a man-made life of which theology does not record.
The struggling millions, which me) up the oppressed masses, may be weak and weak must stagger and litter on their deliverance is sure. The great injustice of the slave state still before the Eternal Court of Equity, and a Righteous Judge in the Court of Justice.
VOTELESS—RELPLESS.
January 21, 1919, is the last day in which you can by paying your poll tax, save for yourself the right to vote. Remember, that a voleless man is a helpless man. Quit him, yes, but him. We need the man who will not pay his poll tax, get his exemption oath, take it.
A SOLEMN TEETH.
When Kelley Miller, the great philosopher, who recently toured the South returned to his home in Washington, she wrote a newspaper report for an opinion. He said: "The Colored man is making a living; the one who lives in the country is making money." This is true. The city Colored man is installing furniture, rues, carpets, cheap jewelry and other trash, while the country Colored man is buying furniture and other items to count. Back back to the country.
LET THEM PASS TO THE REAR
The "Bla Mama" Colored woman, the "Uculee Tom" Colored man, and the "White Man" Colored man, ship to the Colored race alone in talking about have sucked a "Nigger man," are three individuals who, at the same time, have outlived their usefulness. PL Worth is growing. By the end of 1915, it had a population of 98,558, something like 12,000 are of African extraction, and it is of this 12,000 something an industrial element. There may be a few loafers in the town, but they are not to the "nanny born" wood. They have mostly come from here and they will come to nothing but the work of not get the work habit. PL Worth, there are two great Beef and Pack warehouse—Armour and Swift worker an opportunity and I will say to their credit they have not thrown away the great public service corporations, creating the packing house spirit, and the door to work stands wide open for the best bread in the sweet of his face. He has gone to it, as the hundreds working people will show.

She Called His Hat.
"Please take off your hat as you enter my home" were the words standing in her face. Frances Smith, standing in her office at Cocoract街店, Dallas, Texas, one day last week. She addressed the young white man who is connected to her as a assessor's office, he being at the Smith home for the purpose of assessing her property. (Y) was much offended by the request and refused to comply, leaving her home without getting the desired information as to how, now, that make you hungry. Here is a white man of education, who gets mad because he removes his hat before entering the home of a decent woman, and all because she is a member "of the race" has under heaven. Talk about sending missionaries to Africa! Don't stop 'em, but for God's sake don't be afraid. We need a few in Dallas.
Dallas Bank Draws Color Line
"Well, Sir, what a difference." "Well, Sir, what a difference." Thus queried Mr. T. B. Wallace, a respectable Colored man, who lives in Dallas, who never "knew" replied the man addressed. "Well," went on Mr. Wallace, I would ask him to give the other day to get a check cased, and I thought while there, I would open my Christmas Savings account, and I would open my Christmas Savings account, and I would open my Christmas Savings account, the attachee said: "Ws do not extend this privilege to Colored men." Now here's a case for prayer, Every informal man in the First State of Texas, Christian and M. C. A. worker, Christian and M. C. A. worker.

And finally, I thought of our foreign war, so lazily closed, and we had to be careful not to present, and shell to tschatch civilization from the maw of death! And not to measure our own more bitter than ever, more determined to sto; our progress from every day to every night, more determined to Is there a God? If so, where is he Can he help? These and questions we have been coming well up to choke me.

Public diplomas were given the even ten of his way. He did all this without equipment. High schools in the south were preceded by what were known prior to the civil war as academies and universities for those who paid tuition. In many instances, the rich people had prized prepared their children for the colleges or for the academy. STRAIGHT HAIR
You Need a Real Scalp Food.
There are so many no-called hair growers on the market, a large number of which are nothing more than perfumed grease, it is no wonder people get discouraged and lose faith in all hair tonics. In deciding what products to use, you must be able to get a remedy of proven merit. Seeby's Quinade is in a highly medicated pomade that has stood the test of time. It is a real scalp food; it is a natural oil that can be used on the hair, causing a natural growth of long hair.
Quinade is the invention of an expert chemist and is made under the supervision of a specialized pharmacist. It makes the hair soft and smooth and easy to put up in the style desired. From the use of Quinade it is necessary to shampoo the scalp about every two weeks with Seeby's Quinasoap. Quinasoap is made entirely out of pure vegetable oils, which are used and is a thorough cleaner. Quinasoap lathers very freely. It leaves the hair soft and imparts a refreshing feeling to the scalp unchanged.
Do not accept any substitute, but insist on getting Seeley's Quinade them by the full name. Price is 25 cents each. If your drugstreet or dealer does no stock these two articles and you want to buy them his wholesaler or send us the price and we will mail them to you. Seeby Drug Co, 79 East 135th street, New York, NY 10017.

He cited their skill and courage in the defense of the pyramids of Egypt, one of the seven wonders of the world, and of the building of the unruveled city of Jerusalem. "The Negro is worthy of any boast of past achievements or of any future doctor. Dr. Hardin, reviewed the conduct of the race during this great world war, picturing the boys at the battle front. "The race has shed its blood in the defense of its country in every war, he proved and proudly proclaimed that his race had never prevented it, and doesn't believe that it ever will. In speaking of the different wars, he said, "The Negro is especially in speaking of the race problem, he said, "God has his hand in the web and is pulling the tangle Everyone who heard Dr. Hardin agrees that he is a genius, a mighty man."
In speaking of President Wilson, he styled him as the world's foremost leader, and he planned of God that Mr. Wilson was elected to his office. He asked to the address by Dr. Harden, Prof. J. M. Hurdle, principal of the Colored school with a number of his pupils rendered a short speech after which Prof. W. B. H.
