REV. PROCTOR REGRETS
STRAINED RELATIONS IN U.S.
Atlanta, Gn. Ang. 23, -Rev. H. V. Procriver began his series of addresses at the First Congregational Church, on "Fresh Pace from France." He prefaced his address with a plan for harmony between the races, and he asked me to find out. "I am sorry to find on my return from France that there are strained relations in France not be. We fought side by side in France, and now we should work on improving relations. We are looking to us for guidance, example and help. We cannot do what the world expects of us unless we are willing to give up something to gain by hatred and violence. I therefore plead for harmony between us and co-operate to save the world."
Taking up the threads of his main address, Dr. Proctor continues:
*France* was the fit place for the battle ground of world democracy, the heart of Europe, the location it is in the center of the nations. In liberty, equality and fraternity, a mote from France has been enshrined in her literature and enshrined in its songs. But the chief reason for this contest lies in the character of our people as exemplified in daily industry and industry, culture and character, and character, lionization. On a special mission by cable from General Perching to address the Colored troops and strengthen the morale of France.

The re-organization of the work of Howard University along the southern border has met with the hearty approval of both educators and students generally. From all parts of the country, the re-organization has carried the work of the different schools and applications for administration of the university's office for the past two months. Indications point to the largest enrolment of students in the institution during the coming year. The re-organization involves important changes in the departments of administration and administrative offices. The Academy has been abolished in order that the faculty may be more favorably as an institute of learning, may give its entire energies to work in this important field. Stacks of books, equipment, and prepared to do college work. This preparation requires fifteen units as well as additional courses in the university, added to eight years of preliminary studies in the elementary schools, many schools all over the country, in such acceptable fashion as to eliminate the need of a secondary education.
The new scheme of organization provides, as a basis, the Junior College of the University of Pennsylvania and the work of the Freshman and Sophomore years. The work of the two junior colleges of the several senior schools, namely, Liberal Arts, Education, Computer Science and General Services. (By Associated Negro Press).
Houston, Texas, Aug. 23—The Negroes of Houston have organized and supported the Negro League, a national Patriotic League, and peace officers to assist in maintaining harmony between the two races, and also to assist in locating and prosecuting any persons found guilty of spreading propaganda for the Negroes among the Negroes of the city, and to cooperate with the Patriotic League. At a meeting Thursday fifty Negroes, representing eaven of areas among the Negroes of the city, met in Houston to cooperate with the Patriotic League. Members of the Patriotic League are representing this spirit among the Negroes and are glad to have their co-operation. While none of them contempts and disrespects the Negroes of the city, that there are persons among both races who would like to see trouble with the Negroes of the city, in the hands of the authorities at Washington that radio and television promote racialized society, are backing a nationwide movement that promotes racialized society and all other kinds of trouble that will bring on disorder in this city. WILL OF MRS. ANNIE MILES
PROBATED
MAIN PORTION OF ESTATE LEFT
TO MOTHER. DR. HAMILTON
REFUSES TO ACT AS EXECUTOR
OF WILL AND DECLARENS BARER
SHOP BEQUEATH HIM.
The Will of Mrs. Annie Myers, who
died several days ago, was opened
and read last Saturday, morning in
the office of Hom. Wm. H. Atwell,
attorney for the estate. These were
present, besides the attorney, Miss
Janet Aldridge, deceased, and
Dr. R. T. Hamilton. The Will
is dated July 12, 1581 and is writ-
ten by W. H. Atwell and Sarah
Myers.
The Will directs that all just deceses be paid; that she be given a decent burial and that a modest monument be erected over her grave. The Will directs that Dock and Henry Barber Shop is given to Dr. R. T. Hamilton. She will give one hundred dollars ($100) to the following relatives: Med Smith, brother; Jeane Beanen, and Jannah Sawyer, sister; and Nina Sawyer, nephew. All other portions of the estate, real, personal or mixed, is willed to Mrs. Rebecca Rawley, mother of deceased. The home on Cadiz street, therefore goes to the mother, named as executor of the Will. Immediately after the reading of the Will by attorney Atwell, Dr. Hamilton made the following statement
"I note that Mrs. Myers has kindly made me a beneficiary under this agreement, that this had been done and was as much surprised at the action as any other obligation to me having paid me for my professional service at the hospital after she became an invalid, had我 to attend to some of her business and twice to make deposits for her insurance bill, payment assessment, and twice to make deposits for her charges for this service and did no more for her insurance bill done for others unintentionally. I suppose it was in recognition of this service that she willed me to accept this bequest and wish it to revert to her mother, and will sign the agreement."
"Mrs. Myers, purchased $250.00 worth of liberty bonds through me with the help of the City National Bank and are now possessing these bonds have never been in my possession. They were purchased at the City National Bank and are now well hand the receipt for these bonds together with a $10 insurance policy, and I will well for proper dispensation. It has been persistently maintained that $250.00 to deposit for her and that I had deposited only $90.00. The facts are some thirty days ago she sent for me a book balanced, at the same time me giving an exact amount I do not now recall. The deposit was immediately made in addition to the book balanced days later to get the book, I noted that there was an error of $200.00 in addition, made by the book-keeper in attention of the clerk to the mistake, which he readily w. and need, and in attention of the outurer回回 will recall the transaction and I ask Mr. Myers of this fact, and no doubt some one overhearing the conversation of the outurer回回 will recall the transaction and I ask Mr. Myers to go to the bank and verify
"I note I am made executor of the will; I deed to so act and add to my will that I will be appointed in my stead and I no empower him."
He was filed for probate last Monday. We have been asked to publish the following:

Native Sons of Virginia to Observe September 10-15 at Norfolk.
(Reciprocal News Service)
Norfolk, Va. August 19, 21—Co-trained by the National Baptist Convention here Sept. 10-11 there is to be observed a 10-hour service in which the mission is being promoted by the business men of Norfolk, who are cooperating with the local ministers of the National Baptist Convention greater in point of attendance and in time. The National Baptist Convention was held here years ago to commemorate the landing of the Pilgrims, known as the Jameson Estates in Virginia, who have scattered to the four cardinal points of the compass, and who have come to a home-coming and that Virginia from the Atlantic to the Pacific and from the Lakes to the Gulf will re-enter the country. Virginia hands with friends and commends this week, a great rush is expected, and the Lakes to the Gulf will re-enter the country. It is estimated that approximately two thousand Baptists will come to Norfolk, Austin of Pittsburgh, Pa., and New York of Virginia. The largest Baptist churches of the East are pastorated by the sons of Dr. V. Hallowell, Austin of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Reed of New York of Virginia. It is not fact that he spent most of his life in Virginia. In fact, it was assured an additional week of the National Baptist Convention which is to be held here in Virginia. It is the president of Erion Hill.

WHY KAP-O-LINE Wins Preference
For fifteen years Kapoline has stood the test, made good and time is the severest test of any product.
It could fill this whole paper with testimonials from persons who have Kapoline after all has failed, Kapoline after all has nature turned into hair, the long strands hair, not the matted gummy kind, but hair that is fluffy and full of life, checks falling hair, eliminates dandruff, strengthens and protects hair.
The hair must be thoroughly washed. We recommend Kapeline Shampoo, as it puts the hair in a clean antiseptic condition. To apply Kapeline rubbing well into the scalp for six nights, brush and comb the hair through night and morning during the treatment. After about six days' treatment you will have beautiful straight hair, Kapelineaves worry, throw away your hot combs that are only drying your scalp and doing no good whatsoever. Price of Kapeline $5 cents per ear: Kapeline Shampoo 50 cents per ear: Kapelineaves drunk or smoked up for price. Manufactured by STORE & CO, Perfumes, Texas. From every point they come in quest of a permanent residence place, but the problems facing the struggle in this old burg is the shortage of people in the city of Dallas is grave. The housing condition for Colored people in the city of Dallas is grave. Hundreds of new houses are being built and members of new additions are being opened, but none are for Colored. Cases of two and three families are living together and the perfect delpths to remort the like are being built, so some additional will have to be opened some where and the lots of which must be sold at as reasonable price, that is which will be sold to other races. It is time to not now in this case. Mrs.贝拉 Johnson, left Tuesday for Florida to attend the State College in a college at St. John Baptist School.

The Best He Ever Made
We Open Sunday
at 1:00 P. M
If you're interested in knowing how an ordinary pool-roo can be transformed in the twinkling of an eye into a first rate gym, watch "Big Bill Russell's ingenuous stunts in 'This Hero Stuff'."
How many women can look pretty and interesting when they blubber? When you see Mary Thurman put the trick in "This Hero Stuff" you'll learn something that may come in handy one day.
There is such a thing as a girl being too darn well posted! One hero we know turned his back upon the worshipping damnals who could recite his gallant deeds by auction, and had name and fame at the feet of a girl who wasn't interested enough to wave a flag at him when he struck town.
They need to say that a sure recipe for a romance was to let the hero save the heroine's life. However, there are times when it fails to work. When you see "This Hero Stuff" you'll know one reason why.
He was a hero of the Argonne, brave as they come, but he was afraid of a "Welcome" arch and a big brass band. And he dodged. Some dodge!
It takes a real hero to swallow "the drink that jeers." Two guesses! It served in "This Hero Stuff."
"Hero-worship exists, has existed, and will forever exist among mankind," says Carlyle, and even such clever dodges as modest Captain Jones employed can't make a dent in the ancient practice.
Talk about Eliza crossing the ice! She won't one, two, three with Bill Russell crossing the ceiling—via the chandelier. See "This Hero Stuff" for further details.
A pollicking satire on hero-worship.
William Russell in the role of a genuinely modest hero who is pestered to death by hero-worshippers, both fine and super.
Ask your gob or Yank what he thinks of "this hero stuff." He'll give the same answer William Russell does in "This Hero Stuff."

In a game full of exciting plays and some wonderful pitching by Hunter, the locals, San Antonio defeated Beaumont by the score of 4 to 2. The visitors drew first blood in the second inning by scoring one run and from then on until the lucky seventh it looked like the visitors would cop the game by the score of 6 to 2. From then on the first half of the seventh, they added another run making the count two and nothing in their favor. The locals came to themselves in their half and tied the count on a single, a walk and Wilson's triple to deep left the ball in the first inning. The next third and the next two batters in order, the visitors seem to have had the game won until the sixth when a ball hit to D. Dear Christian Friend:
[Picture of a man in a suit with a tie].
One month from today the National Baptist Convention will be in the midst of its 38th annual session. It is a God permitted fact, and a historical truth. In 1892 we ordered a National Baptist Theological Seminary and Bible Taining school and we hired a teacher at Nashville's Tenn., in Mr. 1919. God being our helper we opened the 38th session at the same place on June 28th, 1919, and teachers paid. We enrolled 70 muralist students, the right mission. It is a task that we should and should help educate the young minister for the on coming intelligent young generation. God knows I am right.

Pet Wife of Congo Chief Put to Death
When Flickle Tire of Tires
Her Charms
An African chief may possess 1,000
wives, but the chief who has two pet
wives at the same time or keeps any
one of them in the same house is yet
to be found. To the be pet of the chief,
to know that one is pointed out by the
honor of one, one is honored one, one
is sounded rather alluring, to
but know that one may lose one's
head when a more attractive success-
ful companion is present. A faction
on the part of the bride when
the chief comes a-wolving.
Jewelry that is worn by the put of
the chief is a piece of beaten and woven
piece of beaten and woven brace, per-
haps two and one-half inches thick,
eight inches in diameter and wolging
through the neck. C. After this ornament is placed
about the neck of the chief's pet she
lies down with her head on a rock and
wears heavy anklets and bracelets
accompany the neckpiece, so that she
daily carries about with her from 35
As she walks about the village she is the center of attraction. She may walk for a few minutes, six years, or at least until the chief may choose another beauty. Whenever this occurs her doom is sealed. She must remove the necklace, of removing the necklace, and next the arm, and legs that the bracelets and anklets may grace the fair use.
SMILE HAS DISTINCT VALUE
No Person Ever Attained Place or Popularity by the Exercise of a "Grouch."
In a debate in the national house of representatives one member charged the members on the other side wishing a "continual grouch." Is it natural for men, especially politicians, to be bound not yet learned the value of a smiley? This busy world, with its wonderful revelations, its tremendous possibilities, has no use for the "grouch." The lawyer sweetened of religion. The lawyer never smiles, loses more case.
Mr. Kintz and little son, James are visiting relatives in McKinney, Texas. Mr. Kintz is the mother in Ardmore, Muss Bertha Heidix is visiting in McKinney, Texas. The Ladies Culture club met with Mrs. Jim Grone last Thursday evening. Mr. Vivian Wright, who has been on the sick list is reported improving.
TEAGUE
Teague, Texas, Aug. 21.-Sunday school was well attended at all church sites. George Brewer is attending her sister site, Mrs. Elie Rodgers at Jewitt. Mr. R. J. Brewer returned to school this daughter last week from Jewitt.
KIRVIN.
LUFKIN.
Lukis, Texas, Aug. 21—Sunday schools were well attend at all churches. E. S. Edwards of Conroe preached at good William Baptist church, Sunday and Sunday night, also preached—there Wednesday night, also preached—there Wednesday night. He brought his brother a few weeks ago through the columns of the Dallas Express ads of whom he hadn't seen in 20 years. He was sitting on his left, and he last Sunday to visit him in Lancaster, Texas. A large defense is contemplated being from behind the gen. Bowes Association, Rev. R. L. Patton was called to Kennard there. There was a musical given at the church on Saturday night by Miss Beaulieu, a tenor singing program was rendered. Rev. R. L. Patton was Grand canister of the Golden Choir of the World organized a lodge here with 26 members.
But then he wished. The merchant who never smiles loses trade. The general who never smiles loses his grip on the men. The politician who never smiles usually stays at home. The salesman who never smiles loses his position.
Somehow people don't like a "growth," a man who doesn't know
A smile is the biggest asset to any man or woman. It itens admirers, gifts, and gifts. It disarms a foe and nenizes a friend. It builds hope, hambles fear. It opens the door to the joys of life and the riches of existence. It is a jewel in the eye.

Petroleum in Mississippi Lake.
For hundreds of years Lake Minneapolis has been the petet of lake Chadwell, then the shore at Thaigan. They would not battle in it or sit around it. It decribes that the water was not ewly. Then, after the war, they would wooden boats with this oil, well proved so effective in keeping out the water that it became the general custom to use it. They did not know that this petroleum gushing up through the two miles out in the lake, which to this day gushes apparently without varying. Whip the water is low petroleum found in solid masses, about 60 globe weighting about 26 pounds.
