Church will meet in the City of Dallas in February of 1921. This gathering, the guest of St. James A. M. E. Church will bring to our city more than two thousand of the most representative men of the race in America. It will be composed of bishops, general officers and laymen of the A. M. E. church of the world, who will make up the committee on organic union, and heads of the educational institutions of the church everywhere. They will honor our city with their presence. They will be our guests, the guests of Texas for the first time in the history of this great church which was established more than one hundred years ago. They must be housed, entertained as befits their station, and made to know that they have acted wisely and well in choosing this city as their meeting place. Their entertainment is the duty of all of us. Their presence will affect all of us. It is more than an ordinary convention. A committee of business men and citizens headed by Dr. R. T. Hamilton has already been formed and is now busy planning for the reception and entertainment of these visitors. It has been estimated that more than an ordinary amount of money is necessary to the successful accomplishment of this duty. The contribution of every business man to this fund will be a good investment. The hearty co-operation of households and property owners will signify a sense of the civic pride and responsibility for which Dallas and Texas are famous. We are parts of Dallas. It is a city famous in doing big things in a big way. It always succeeds and the spirit of its citizens is responsible for this success $5,500 must be raised in sixty days by the citizens of Dallas in order that this Council be approved. No citizen is excepted. Every one of us is involved. Our duty is plain. It is urgent. Let us hold ourselves ready to help in making a success of Dallas' most important gathering.
