The news was too much for the second wife, who fainted.
After an hour's talk the two deserted wives wept together and deserved that, while there was little chance of either of them ever getting support from worrying Johnson. They had him arrested.

A short time ago the county was agog with the news. that
Harvard Uotves, les 4 emily oeiders. moet Baral

‘account of race, The agitation died down for a time but the Lit-
‘rary ‘Digest again brings it to our attention by making public)
‘excerpts from an article printed by The Nation in which the

‘Of the total number forty-one believed the policy justified
‘under certain cineumistances, thirty-four believed that it "as never

‘Among the opinions of thote who favor restriction we find
the following: |
“One aeeusation has to do with scholarship. In harmony
with their poliey of getting all they can for aslittle as possible,
Tews incidentally take majority ofthe sholarshipe. ‘us they
deprive many worthy men of other races of « chance. Here, how-
fever we must discriminate. There is a diversity of opinion as to
the intellectual powers of the Jew. A considerable number deny

etter grades than those of us who have broader interests? One
student who made a Yery low grade in examinations says “They
memorize thelr books. ‘Thus they keep the average of scholar-|
ship so high that others with x high degree of common sense but
Tess parrot knowledge are prevented from attaining. a representa-|
tive grade.” :
Among those who oppose the restriction we find opinion in|
part a8 follows:
to 1g The nly seul fr clos student shoud be the abi
ty to pursue his studies with profit’ “A colloge is founded on a
basis of service to those who deserve it. The moment it is hint-
od that there is some other purpose more important than develop-
ing the intellect and character of the community, the college, as-
sumes a new and lesser’ role.’ ‘Certainly the aim of an edueation-
Al institution is not to be a desirable collection of pleasing people
“Bvery applicant, it in contended, ‘should have the copa
ity to prove his individual worth.’ ‘One man is as good as another
until he proves himself worse’ ‘A college should be the home of
tolerance, of which racial restrictions are the spiritual negation’
#79 maintain that a race is inferior is nothing short of rid-
iculouk, says a Jew. ‘Inferior in what Tin intellectual culture? Or;
merely in opportunity? Who ean tell? Every race has its bad as
mel as ood. | Bach tends to consider ita? superior because
itexeels in those things which it values. Often the excellence is
more apparent than real.’ Tn a number of papers the point ts,
made that differences between individuals of the same race are
greater than those between race. In short, the ant-reatreton
‘agree that ‘objectionable individuals must be eliminated, not
races, We must seek ability independent of race, as of sex. |
“1g, under fair examinations, Jews predominate among the
entrants, it ean be doe only. to the laziness or-Inck of talent of
those who fail. If Christians are unable to compete intellectually
with Jews, if they fail to take the same advantage of their oppor-
tunities, then the Christians should suffer, not the Jews. If the
traditions of Harvard are not able to inspire us, her non-Jewish
ons, to exeel intellectually, then those traditions must go. They
must not be used as a stone wall to protect the mental infants of
the future from the ineursions of a more enlightened alien race.’
As to the desire of the restrictionists to keep the college
fairly representative of Us drag yeep phe bred
fie: ‘An educational institution should not be representative

a cor not the policy of restriction is still being employ-
fd by Harvard we cannot say. We however lean strongly to the
belief that “a college is founded on a basis of service to those who
deserve it, ‘The moment it is hinted that there is some other

Advertising The True
American Spirit.
‘America, the land of the free and the home of the brave finds
chance to advertise its real self well and often but seldom does it
happen that it so potently distingtishes itself in this regard to
foreigners, royalty if you please as it did-tast week during the
World's Series. when the second. game way called by the umpires
fon aecount cf darness and the displeasure of the crowd of fans
feaused it to change instantaneously from a good natured assem-

Harry G. Withers, special staff correspondent of the Dallas
Morning News in a dispatch to his journal describes it thus:
“The crowd, or a large segment of it, emptied its scorn and
abuse upon the hoary head of @vdge Kenesaw Moviituin Landis,
high commissioner of baseball.

South was scheduled to meet showing that John Wilson Booth, elder of Lincoln, lived at Wilson. Wilson has followed the story of John Wilson Booth, the identity of a man who committed the murder of John Wilson Booth. Dr. Wilson was waited on at his hotel by a group of Nashville citizens who objected to the fact that he agreed to omit it from the "The Questions of Rape and Other Are the Fact" that was the subject of Weldon Johnson, the speaker who some of the temperate temperate forest covering lyrchings in the United States, were raped committed by members of his race, but declared that the sponsorship for the acts of a foe was gross, as were represented by the group with the Negro criminals than with the white criminals. He said: "We are not asking for pardon for the law enforcement against carrying a weapon after being tortured, burned to death. We are asking for trial before a jury of American, and if he is guilty, Negroes will not express one word of
Law-Abiding Citizens.
"The underlying evil of our government is disloyalty, which is being waged with law enforcement, who can be bought, killed, or even killed, known to replace them with non-human have, who can kill them, and good police have, who can kill them," Dutton said. The men are young, many are married, and many are divorced. Dutton for one law is to have the men charged to men of character," continued Mr. Dutton.
A brief outline of the beginning of the story is given, depicting some of the trials and adductions that the hero must endure. The speaker paid tribute to each one as Washingtons, the crusader of the country, the crusader of the nation, the best governor of the ever over known, and it will exist as long, as men are capable, of governing the country, to the reference to the birth of the

A FOSTER INTERVIEW.
On the other hand a recent interview with Mr. Porter at Kansas City was given to Mr. Foster for this interview with Mr. Foster in order that we might include bots sides to a motted question. We found a question that answered everything put in read style: question: Mr. Foster, what is the most important thing confronting the League? "Maintainence; you see the people don't understand what responsibilities involved," said the "Big Learner" earnestly. Have you any specific plans to imitate this question? "What are they?" They will be revealed in due time, but I wish to say now that certain undesirable white capitals will be eliminated, but that Colored people throughout the country will be given an opportunity and control matters if they will." Why can't we have a more uniform schedule? "Because of a lack of training of the League members, and too there are geographical areas of most of the League members, and too there are geographical areas of Kansas City, despite it being a good baseball town, always creates a hard problem for members of the League
Why do the American Giants play at home so much? "Because I am insomuch," the Giants said, because they do not control their prizes we must necessarily protect them.

of our park and consequently an advantage to offset some of the disadvantage of other teams. That I have the best interests of the whole League at heart, and it is my ambition to have a leadership role. Others have had an opportunity to become president, but refuse the job. For the last two seasons this honor has rather been a responsibility and responsibility attached there, the lack of facilities and real co-operation render my position disadvantageous rather than parallel. I am as so pleased plainly imagine. "What about publicity?" The League asks, "What is it for the newspapers; they don't seem to grasp the situation properly, with proper co-operation the League and the Newsbapers have wonderful possibility."
There now, you have at least some of both sides. The writer merely asks you to support the League, for after all it is "your league." It means more of National development among racial groups than it does as we have already pointed out. To Poster, you would say that the people you would represent are demonstrated in the organization and direction of the American Giants, and greater genius will be shown in the solid construction of NATIONAL NEGRO BASED LEAGUE that would be of time.

In the School of Experience we have learned that combination is the key to success. Combination of our strength in man-power and the proper conservation of our funds are the things necessary and requisite for a membership of Fifty Thousand and the accumulation of One-Half Million Dollars.
Help us accomplish this wonderful achievement for the race by inducing race men to join the Knights of Pythias.
