The information on Garvey and his organization has been drawn up under the government and is expected by officials to prove invaluable in the fight against the appeal under way. The statement of the leaders asserts that Garvey has built up an organization which has relied minimally on the country to threaten the country and urges the government to push the charges through the country and urges the mails with the utmost vigor. (Preston News Service). Norfolk, Va., Feb. 8.—William Thomas, street car conductor, who was convicted by a jury of second degree murder for the death of Frank Walker, a Negro, was sentenced to one year in the state penalty. The trial was the second for Thomas. He was tried last December and the result was a hung jury. The jury was out nearly an hour in the second trial before a verdict was reached. Brought to the testimony brought out during the trial, on October 18. last Walker and the Thomas, the conductor, got into a dispute in a trolley car in Hallam avenue. Not only did the fire go through their arms a lively pace. Except for the stage the theater was darkened. The director was down in the room, and waiting time to the mute. Suddenly from the rear of the house, a spattered spattered over the scenery. What happened after that was difficult to ascertain from the scattered printings of the show. It seems that Arthur Bruce, manager of the show, has been having trouble until three weeks ago the mademoiselle had been a leading member of the show but recently she was by Bruce. It is said, Rosetta went to the theater, but Bruce. They rent. Worries, then hurls. Before Bruce could take the revolver away from the mademoiselle he had been shot twice through the chest. CALLS STORY OF MISS BROWN'S DISMISSAL "MEAN CAMPAIGN AGAINST WILBERFORCE UNIVERSITY." By CHAS. W. ABINGTON. At the general conference which convened in St. Louis, Mo., in 1920 he was a member of the board of the connection, and at once addressed himself to the church and had in his extensive files much valuable information. He was deeply absorbed in the treatise when falling health overtook him. The Bishop was being ably assisted by his high cultured wife, who was a member of the Miss Halle Q. It is to be hoped that his work has progressed to that point where these ladies may be able to complete it and thus perpetuate the work of the distinguished prelate to whom they were so devoted. The church would do well to assign them that task and render them the assistance and encouragement necessary to his accomplishment. It must be truthfully said that a nightly prince in the American church has fallen whose passing will be surely felicitous. We submit here a brief history of the departed churchman who arranged the possibilities of accomplishment, and the titling with native ability re-enforced by unconquerable will power. Blah-ble-ble, the son of the aide, the son of the Nehemiah Henry and Cathrinne Smith, March 16, 1852. Fourteen years of his early manville, about forty miles from Toronto—it was in the public school Toronto—he received a spendid elementary education, and 12 years of age he was apprenticed to learn the furniture trade—but he never planted a plant leaving young Smith to seek election of Miss Brown. Members of the State Board were not enthusiastic over Miss Brown's candidacy, as some doubt was given to her position, because of her lack of training in the particular field. After a discussion during which the Bishop made an effort to In Miss Brown's behalf, she was elected by the narrowest margin in Miss Brown assured the new position in the State Normal Department at the evening of School Day, apparently that her work was not up to standard. The transition from the Normal Department with consignment change in methods, and further without previous training, to the teacher veteran could negotiate. Added to this Miss Brown was often tend to other business. Thus work in the class room lagged miserable. The clinax was reached, however, when the State Inspector of Normal Training reported to the Board that Miss Brown had come to the Class room he had come to the conclusion that "the had not not the highest conception of the subjects in the school." This report made it imperative to remove Miss Brown. The Board of Students were paramount. Action, however, was not taken out by the close of the school year. The action was unanimous. Members of the Promoted respects for Miss Brown, by reason of her contributions to racial achievement, but on the other hand, because of her resorted to such a mean campaign against Wilberforce University. Even, if, for the sake of argument, it were granted, that Miss Brown was fully qualified to teach the sub-unit, she was not required dutense for removing her from the faculty list in 1922. The respected head of The National Federation of Women's Clubs graduated in 1923, and she has many decades ago, and she has AIGN ORCE UNIVERSITY." grown old and weary in the service of the school. Surely there is enough precedent in the retirement of such noted educators as Chas. W. Eldie' of Harvard, Chas. F. Thwing of Barnet Reserve, Henry King of Oberlin and King of Oberlin, must have given up without a murmur, as they rightly felt that their uneffiness in the position of field head gave up, thus it will be seen that the Board of Trustees may plead a dual cause for removing Miss Brown. In conclusion, I want it directly, understood that this letter is raised above the field head, and must between Miss Brown and Bishop Jones. It is only a plain, unvaried position of state, without malicious intent against Miss Brown, directive towards a dispensation effort to prevent misunderstanding between the institution and others' affairs," has assumed proportions, due to well-meaning but a one-sided publicity, and to the school. Adams, son of the proprietress of the house by the rush of gas falling in this attempt he went to the side of the house and broke in. A burst of flame so intense as to force him to jump from the roof of the front porch in order to save the body of Miss Hurdle, burned beyond recognition, was found partway through the captain Kelsey and police Sergeant Garrison after the fire had been extinguished. It is believed that Miss Hurdle, partially stuppied by the force of the explosion and the fumes of the gas, was caught in the door of the door but was unable to unfasten it. The upstairs of the house was stuppied. Evidence of volume, personal effects, etc., of Miss Hurdle as well as of Prof. and Mrs. Fox and the other occupants the upstairs were finally destroyed. Austin, Texas, Feb. 8. — The time is now at hand when every time in Texas should have an inspection in the hospital. "I said m. D. E. Breed, Executive Director of the Texas Public Health Association. A periodic physical examination by your physician at least once a year is required. You should combat tuberculosis and other preventable diseases. At these exceptions, you have located minor defects and have corrected before they become severe. After the average group of one hundred men dren 70 per cent will have various defects and impairments of the body, and you should be accompanied to a serious condition of the hips or feet. Investigation of your body reveals some slight impairment that can be remedied at a very little expense, would be accomplished if it were not at once. If allowed to develop it can be taken into tuberculosis or some other disease. You can fund thousands of dollars to cure or treat. The time to prevent disease is much better to pay a doctor to visit it, than to pay him to get you well. LETTERS FROM READERS. Judge Mnnroe Sets the Pace.
