Grand Master Goree Places All Responsibility For Irregularities on Secretary Riddle Charges Riddle With Suppressing Information as to the Endowment Affairs. Urged Him to Explain but Riddle has Refused. Says he will Forsake Riddle if Assured Such Action is for Best Interest of Order In What Condition Is Your Endowment Department Mr. Goree? (EDITORIAL) The Express, slightly appreciates the letter of Grand Master Gorce, which it is printing this week in order that the public may know his position in the matter of the irregularities of The Odd Fellows of the State. And, as is natural in the case of the State, it is the unevenness and in some instances it differs radically from him. For instance, in that portion of his letter in which he calls attention to the splendid accomplishments of the order under his direction assisted by his cabinet, The Express agrees and proves that agreement by calling attention to the special attention of the general public to these splendid accomplishments. More than a few news stories have been displayed on the front page of this journal with pictures which told of the good work that was being done by the Order and at least three editorials have been published for the many thousand readers of this journal. In fact, so splendid has been the record of the Order that The Express is all the more surprised, when the figures which tell of that splendid accomplishment are distorted and the facts, which were commonplace, are troubled. Why should it have been done; and why, after all of the courtesies extended to this Grand Lodge as to all Grand Lodges, by this paper, should it have been taken advantage of and forced unknowingly, to be a part of the courtship sting of that unfairness, we must confess; still rallies in us and we are still of the intention of standing hard by our duty to the people of Texas in finding all of the facts in regard to the affair, of spending all of the time and money necessary for a full investigation of the FINDING WHETHER THE BE GOOD OR BAD. The Grand Master has called the attention of the Express to the statement of Secretary Riddle which declares that "I have been repeatedly asked for information regarding the affairs of the Odd Fellows as understood that I DO NOT TURN LOOSE, ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE UNTIL I AM THROUGH WITH IT AND READY TO GIVE IT TO THE PUBLIC." Such a statement coming from a lesser officer in a cabinet and being addressed to the Grand Master from the confession of the Grand Master, he was included among those who could not obtain this information. The statement as made at Houston, was made without his knowledge of the facts, which now indicate that this statement was not the truth or the sworn knowledge or without any conference with him. The result is the present embarrassment of this journal and the unpleasant publicity of the order which the Grand Master heads. The FACTS SEEM TO INDICATE THE SUBORDINATE OF A LESSER OFFICER THOUGH FORCED TO BEAR THE BLAKE FOR THE CARELESSNESS OR INCOMPETENCE OF A SUBORDINATE, CANNOT GO SOVENET OF SUBORDINATE AS TO FORESTALL SUCH ERORS. THE SUBORDINATE THOUGH THE GRAND MASTER SHOULD FOLLOW THE PURPOSE OF THE EXPRESS and DO SOME INVESTIGATING ON HIS OWN ACCOUNT. PHILADELPHIA, Pa. Stark, as well as president of the local business league of Dallas have agreed that the proposal of Editor Dunjee of the Black Dipatch of Oklahoma and president of the business league of that state, to form a closer union with the business league of the state, to form a has distinct merit and that they are willing to do all in their power to bring it to pass. Agreement in this should be readily forthcoming from all of those in this state who see, even in a small degree, the tremendous possibilities for increased success which such a proposal embodies. One among the many quantitative features of the recently clerical Dental and Dental Association was the address of Dr. Cecel J. Telford, the president of the association, who used the members of the profession in Dallas to seek by their own means any hospital accommodation not only for the better accommodation of the ill of the race, but because it was the greatest opportunity for them, to perfect themselves in the practice of dentistry there was no need, for . . . Neurophysiologists to expect others to care for them, and to allow them their free use. If such places were to be held, they must maintain them'. It was in the lack of hospital facilities that the Speaker declared that Texas was THE DALLAS EXPRESS, DALLAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 1925 FOR THE WOMEN WHO CARE Texas and Oklahoma are rich. In both states members of our race own and hold large properties which will bear much development. Both states are comparatively new in the matter of development and neither of them, as far as Negroes are concerned has had the amount of "attention called to their tremendous resources which is necessary to their complete development. Somehow, it has always seemed to the members of the race outside that these two states were on the rim of the great business center and that they were not part of the larger community other sections. While in other states, there has been a large amount of development along the lines of commercial enterprises in our group, the surface of the complete possibilities has scarcely been scratched, and in order that the businesses more along stabilities more along this line must be done. It can best and most speedily be accomplished by cooperation of those interested in business in both states. Working together along the lines of this development, there can now be no means of the business that may be done in this connection it may need that credit is due the business man of Oklahoma for making the first step in this direction. They have made the proposal and it is now up to Texans to follow their lead and to make the business man of Oklahoma a closer contact. This can be best done by a process of getting better acquainted by means of actual contacts. And there is no better opportunity of making these physical contacts than of attending the meeting of the National League which will be held in Tulsa in August. Some such plan will be made by the business man in the minds of several of the leaders in the various cities. Particularly is this true of Dallas, in which vice-president Starks resides and from which he will attempt to interest in least fifty of the men of Texas in going to the meeting. The Express considers the invitation of the business league of Oklahoma both timely and wise and it hopes that it will find a large amount of support among the business men of the Lone Star State. he is required by the city all day and must get out, but in lieu of being in the city, he must sit down and eat his meal, sitting better and more relaxed.
