THE POOR SAINTS FUND
There are those of *M* who sometimes thought those of us owe them a debt of our own faith. This irritation there is the possibility of our overlooking some of the more fortunate of our brothers and of failing to learn some of the lessons in help we need from them. For instance, there is The Church of the Faiths of God in Christ Church, which never fails
to furnish entertainment and other amusement for the average casual passenger who needs it. It is a compelling list of the intelligent or cultured. It is the form of worship which interests because it
that it will be done for too long
so that if it is being done
Some of the things which occur in the every day existence of society, among which crime is the leader, are not racial deficiencies as much as they are social misfortunes. They occur, not as the result of racial or organic tendencies so much as because of the fact that certain conditions maintain in society and that the individuals who make up that society are not equally fortunate in the ability to take advantage of all the opportunities which life in that society should guarantee.
It has been told in America for many years that the Negro, race was primarily criminal; and it has come to be so considered by even the majority of the members of the race themselves. But nothing could be further from the actual fact. Crime is individual and not racial. It is a reflection on society as a whole and not on the race as such. And, realizing as we do that, because of this unfairness in featuring the news of crime as it goes in but country today, the lot of the race is made harder, but at the same time that we seek to make the more constructive achievements of the race out to combat our own misfortunes, and then others to the realization of the fact that the race cannot in fairness be made to bear the blame for the commission of crime by the individual." It may be true that, in proportion to the population, Negroes commit more crime than others. But this is a thing which must not be readily admitted without recourse to accurate figures. But this can be said in regard to it; that taking into consideration their lack of proper educational facilities, the poor living conditions under which they are
a group tide in such environment as does the Negro in the majority of cases, cannot by any means hold itself blameless when individuals of that depressed group, break its laws and commit deplorable outrages. That group is at it because the rest of the society of which it is a part, helps and forces it to a state of arrest development along the lines of social perfection. The following facts prove that this is so, in Texas, in spite of compulsory school laws, 14.2 per cent of Negro children are out of school; according to the present length of Texas school term for Negro children, it would take the average Negro child 18.9 years to finish an elementary course; the investment in Negro education per child in 1982 was $13.72 while that for every white child was $4.61. A survey of Negro homes and living conditions in a Dallas recently disclosed the fact that over 50 per cent of the Negro homes were not equipped with drainage facilities and that more than 64.5 of them had no water supply. This is not true for human inhibition. All of this is true and in addition to this, segregation laws make it impossible for the removal of Negroes to districts which are suitable for their decent living. All of these poor conditions actually prevent cultural development. They are an effective bar to social progress. Negroes are not able to see that crime, as it concerns the Negro is move truly a social misfortune, than it is a racial disgrace. It must be so, considered before definite progress along the line of permanent improvement can be made. This consideration must be kept in mind, as it constantly seeks to imprint desired wisely must be had in the improvement of the conditions which hinder.
WAR VETERANS ARE WARNED AGAINST
MONEY SHARKS
Director Hines of The War Department has warned all veterans who have received their bonus certificates in as collateral for the sort of small loans which usually mutel the ignorant public of perfectly good money. Particularly is this warning in good place as it refers to the average Negro veteran who has received this sum, usually larger than the amounts to which he is accustomed.
And in this connection, one is forced to acknowledge that it is particularly unfortunate that in some way, there has not been some sort of central organization perfected by means of which the Negro veterans of the late war can benefit from efficient direction in the matters directly concern them. Barred from active participation the American Legion in the majority of cases, they have been neglected almost since the close of the war. Some who there has been no outstanding leader developed in their ranks who could weld them together into a unit which in peace make itself felt as in war.
And now that this bonus has come to them, there is the possibility that the many thousands of dollars involved in return to them will not be put to the most efficient use. It will be squandered or wasted by them in their ignorance of what to do with it. It is fortunate taken as a condition which no one attempts to remedy; but, if every person who knew of this warning and feels the need of helping in this case will best himself in directing those of ours in the good use of the money, the Negro veterans of the warning and thousands of dollars will be put into permanent investments which otherwise would be squandered in trifles.
HINDERING HANDS
The latest instance of hindering hands in the affairs of the race is noted in the recent investigation of the Veterans Hospital at Tuskegee which seemed to have grown out of charges, films to the point of being ridiculous, which were preferred by an engineer who resigned as the result of paral differences.
Too often this has happened. And as often as it has happened, the group has lost in influence. This "crab in the basket" spirit must be crushed. As often as hindering hands are extended, they must be curbed. Thus only can progress be made. And all too often apony us, the extended hands are hindering hands.

GLORIFYING OUR WOMANHOOD
No greater force is working to glorify the womanhood of our Race than Madam C. J. Walker's Wonderful Hair and Skin Preparations. Our eighteen world renowned articles, made and sold by members of our own Race, are daily relieving stubborn scalp diseases, stimulating the growth, increasing the length, softening and thickening short, stubborn, thin, unsightly hair, clearing complexions, smoothing, softening and preserving skin. NEW YORK CITY, July 11
N.Y. — The first step in the direction of a new hospital is the establishment of an all-inclusive "Administration Center" of physical therapists who are trained in the point of care of advanced spinal surgery. The center will be located at 100 West 42nd Street, New York, and will continue until the entire hospital is completed. The physician who will be the first to be hired in the surgery will be Dr. Robert W. Granger, a member of the hospital staff.

"Hospitalism is one of the greatest challenges in our nation's healthcare apperception and in our national defense," he added. "The change to demand opioid prescriptions will change the
"Of course, Harlan is a community hospital, he continued. The increase in hospitalization has been followed by additional hospitalization. An additional, additional doctors are being hired at Harlan Hospital. It is quite likely that no one will be able to work. That no person will be able to work. Dr. McIntosh mix the decision to open a hospital at Harlan Hospital was reached in 2005. Doctors and doctors and members of the hospital were present. The white coat was present. There was no objectivity, according to Under the plan now operating at Harlan Hospital, two new members of the hospital were present. There are appointments and care, and family house urging.
