PAID UP POLICIES FOR KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS
THE PRESIDENT
GREAT BRITAIN
GOVERNMENT
According to the recommendations of Grand Chancellor Willis which were adopted at the session of the Knights of Pathfis just closed in Galveston, it will now be possible for all new members as well as the old to receive policies which in time will become "paid-up" policies. Each policy will enlist for itself a pure endowment fund and it will no longer be true that a man may live for years in the order and become unfinancial after the failure to pay a premium. In other words, the lodge has become more of a real insurance company and "nobody can lose" what he has paid into

This is a radically forward step, one which few white concern have been able to take and one which this fraternity has taken only at the bidding of its actuary who has checked its statements so closely as to be sure that no error has been made. It is a careful handling of the funds of the order and their investment in such ways as to make this added benefit to the policyholders possible. It has never happened in Texas before. It has never happened in a Negro fraternity in America before. It has never happened in a good that is so. Its assets to total more than a million dollars. It is the first Negro fraternial society to do this. It was the first in Texas to make its surplus available for the assistance of its policyholders. And now it goes a step further and becomes the first to guarantee to the fraternity the assets of the men them an estate like that of an old line insurance company.

Not only has the remarkable growth of the Pythianis been an example of what it is possible for a fraternity to become in the hands of an experienced and senior leader, it has also been the case that the space and marks the way for others to follow. It is giving service to those who compose it. That is as it should be. It ministers to them and it gives them reason to stay in it for more than grip, signs and passwords. It has become a proud of the distinction which it has as the home of such an organization, and the members of the lodge should take pride in their scene in choosing such an able executive as Grand Chancellor Willis. And all other fraternities should realize that this fraternity has done, others can do. The Pythianis has been a proud of the distinction which have scarcely been marched. Of the 800,000 Negroes in the state, less than one-third are members of any lodge. Think them, of the splendid possibilities which the remarkable success of the Pythianis has opened up for all who are interested in the fraternity. In time, there will be others who will be able to take this forward step in the protection of their policyholders and that Texas will be noted for the number of well governed fraternities which it contains. Padd up policies for Pythianis and other fraternities. Padd up a stepward step guarantees estates to many who would otherwise have been forced to do without them.

It is a plate, every day, smaller, consistent live no new paper, which strime no add to catch the passing breeds; flies no doubtful flays. It professes a patriotism no broad as our country, its tuve of even hundred justice covers all the territory occupied by the human race. THE CASE OF PAUL QUINN COLLABLE
It appears to The Express that there is much sympathy due to these members of the A.M. E. Church in Texas who have backed Paul Quinn College through all of these years. They have been unfortunately handled. The affairs of that school have been muddled, mixed and so mangled that it has failed of its fullest growth and, according to the latest report from that place, the end is not yet. A president whose only sta seemed to have been the desire to make the plant efficient has been turned out with his reputation rather amished as the result of charges which were only stated but not proven. It appears that he was the victim of deliberate planning and that the case against him was carefully built up with malice aforethought. At any rate, if the
Two precedent setting things happened in Texas last week in the insurance field. One was the writing of a group policy on the Lone Star Dental and Medical Association while in session in Houston which will total more than 225,000. The Road To Better Health
WARNING WEATHER WARSING
By: Dr. Arthur Le Yorster
RUMMER will have the official opening next Monday and we will celebrate the occasion by considering some warm weather "close" and "don't" on this beautiful June 4th.
During the warm season our physiology is vastly different from what it is in cold weather, and we need to be necessary that we adapt to the conditions of theమీరు which will give us the most pleasure which they could be materially enlarged upon—will suffice to eat attention to the needs of the environment of our people of living during the time of the year.
Diet
In cold weather when it is a case of "everything going out and going coming" into so far as bodily feeling coming in the day, it is not concerned that the good day comes in the good day. In the good day we are trying to get old of the surplus heat with us. We are a team of our all-around team, the most diligent of the time. But we are not weather, and the weather we have will do this to the extent of fifty per cent. Student people will confirm their needs to do well, and we are the best of our stockpiles and eat little and pastries, commitments, and other stimulating foods. They will also see to it that their foods are fresh and the food we have are as an absolute necessary during the heated season.
Guangzhou
Knowing is unquestionably good health in the world, the world weather, and the weather will find it to maintain a good day. But it's always a good day during the next two months itself, smoking out the smoke. The air is good. The cold one. The old pipe should be laid nais and given a much-needed but a package should be made to last two-old people.
Enabling
There is a natural desire in hot weather to fill up on cold drinks. But taking a drink is better than a day. It's a drink with the idea of cooling off-in a deusion. The so-called "soft" drinks are harder on the stomach than some cool hard-billed food. It's a good day for the cool let's come to water ten over the wrists for the minutes and drink a how) of hot snug. What is good, may be said for the good. It is a good day for the best to lose harmful than ice water because its alcoholic content promotes its rapid elimination and offsets the evil effects of its low temperature.
Ventilation
During warm weather when drivers and individuals are being charged against insights, especially files, manquillosa, and spiders. Carriers in this regard has cost you a lot of life. It is only a swindle-a "summer cold" in an echinatic eritter, and many people suffer more because they think they have no way to live.

The secret is of the Black Harves winning streak lives in their pitch, keeping her raze strong. Salmon and Bardon have proved themselves the season's best defenders to the line in consistent victories, and the average score above the average, supporting them with who will win. The task of putting an end to the Black Harons winning streak is now placed upon the "Nashville Elite". To do the job right: Secretary Green of the Elites hired himself up to Evansville, Indiana, last week and brought back four new players, Clarance White, a pitcher with a splendid record, Russell Bailey, a catcher, William McNeal, stop.
The Albany Giants are still in the running and are playing a winning brand of ball. One of the features of the playing of this team is the pitching of Big Hill Gateway, the veteran pilot of the Giants. Bill has been pitching for many years and has many of the told-timeers thought he was through that old age, evidently has not effected Bill. He is winning right along end-bathing the youngest and veterans alike, with his smoke, his curves and his change of pace.

THE PASSING OF MISS IRMA CHISOLM
Miss Irma Chisolm is dead; and in her death, the world of business news one of its most promising tollers.
At 4 o'clock Wednesday, she ended her short career at her home in Denison, brilliant in its entering the U.S., so short! Among the young professionals of our City, Miss Chisolm held an envailable place; and their respect for her lightening-like reasoning, for good study of efficiency or peak in glowing, in the time of one who lived and walked with us and is now no more. Those who do not know http so intimately will perhaps remember her as private secretary to Attorney A. B. Wells, a place that has been awaiting her return since December. This in itself would indicate the ability of the young woman. Miss Chisolm was a graduate of the Denison High School and of the School of Commercials at Wiley College. She leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss; and our hearts are sad.
Every time a Negro succeeds in business, our race moves up a note.
Congratulated for his stand when three of his white police bworked on marching through the street with these. Race police. Houston, has been given a boost and Houston deserves every commendable thing that has been said about her and she is coming to greater recognition and better lives relationship, because there is "leadership" among her. Race citizens, not personal leadership, not rational leadership but the more preferable type "co-operating group leadership," the kind of leadership that causes Houston to stand unmoiled as the home of Texas' most aggressive and progressive Negro citizens.
It is true that there may be "actions" in Houston, but this factionalism has not caused these members of our race in the Magnolia city to acquirге, race pride, race wealth, yield morals for more self-improvement or minor group, agrandisement. The citizens of this com. monwealth have race pride they fight for it, they love it and have died for it.
What has been their reward race, institutions are given first consideration, and they have given them the chance to prove that they have the stuff. Negro business has been given chance to grow, and the most important thing is that they have shown interest in their schools, not with "big gates" in their schools, but with "intelligent attacks" "fractionalism has had its rightful place", it, at no time had it been indulged in at the back of the goodwill chain.
What is the House Negras, but if we study with cars the chance of "Old Houston" negro gives them young men how new blood will and does keep alive, progressive ideals. Her reward is Race. Development, from the first general group of the first and the final analysis individual development.
How has the Houston Error been able to become difficult to be stem in but when we hear our knowledge in this Southern City courteously denounce certain conditions, when the group will put their own interest, their for and win, when we heard them fearfully but not aggravating cry out for their original work with the highest interངial Committees has been blooded men on it when we stand on San Falls — and Prairies and the people who are considerable, the effort made by such men as Trof James R. Ivan, the DeWalt Niehrath James R. Johnson to push the young Negro on and up them we say nothing, should come to such a city as the "but increase" Municipal
"Tig London" they call the largest and weakliest city in the 130th-War State. It is "Tig London". The vice, personal arrandisement, larger in "Factional strife" and largest in back-of-leaderships. Lack of race prides lack of group cooperation and worst of all in matter of race, aggressiveness.
Coming in "Big London" the most attractive and still more displeasing is the site you held on the Tigless shiffles masses, plod their way on and down Central Avenue. Why should his condition be? Coming are this mass of humanity with the mass that is found bustling through the streets of the Magno. In City. We find its comparing the two groups, that Houston presents a more pleasing sight to the ever-than-done "Big London." We look again on Milk and we see the strong arm of the law manifesting itself in a man of color.
The why of the whole situation is "The Londoners" have only personal development foremost in their minds. Race pride, progress, and even race are not仅仅 for the whole thing. "Do you have a group of Negroes," Dallas possesses a group of black men equal to the whole world. Houston on "Thes men have not been able to make any change, and I am a little more certain to being of anything that could help find tidiness to the group. "If you are a group of black men, I am a group of "Factions" have filled the war progress of "Dallas-Nigeries" and Race Pragmatics have been until the end of the year, and the whole world is now who are able to lead shaller for "fictionalism" and work together for a common cause. In an attempt to find an allbl for "Thes" by Houston-State Ahead, "and are going to go to the other place" is the feeling in that city. It was brought about through headhood both of the show's statements are true to a certain extent but a greatity of the Whites are still an allbl group. In every place they are "Thes" of the Magnolia City. What city has a major, that has tried to give with its conscience and heart as his only assistance to the Nagans them rights that are the most for the race this is going on. In the right the place of the rest of the city. An Aulterium when thousands of whites had protested. Against the rest of the city from the Ne
pro his right to vide certain street cars and for a second time he chamished "civil rights." These are elty affairs but we can go into county affairs and see deeds of valor that are of similar merit. The present Sheriff of Dallas County has shown himself a "Hater of Mob Violence," causing the papers of the country to marvel at his stand.
If these men do these things without the race group making any suggestions whatever what would come to "Elli" London? If "Fiction" is "would be reduced by group cooperation," Houston would have to catch up.
The Dallas Neuro can catch up with and pass the Houston Negro and "script" need not be thought of. Men of any race respect, in intelligent group action and will encourage this type of cooperation when there seems to be a "group good" to be the result rather than personal good. They know group

Every boy and girl goes to school. Various courses are open to them. Some take a college course after their high school park is ended, and this should be the ambition of every school to be carried should be committed. Most great to make to stain this and Joseph had a different kind of schooling—this was the school of trials and difficulties. He took a-esent year of course into school in slavery in the home of his family and three years in prison—the last was a kind of college course—for history proves that he had never wisdom than the learned men of Sigurdsson was. He was promoted over the time of his inpatient service to a template what Fettish and his lying wife had to say when the news came to them that their former slave, Joseph, had been made second only to king Pharaoh. Our first text was written by a young woman from a school which fitted him for the high place he was to fill in. He was a few of these countries as a fidelity, integrity, self-help, trust in God, patience, and sympathy in the way of a lying circumstances which in the same more important in the

that he might not die before their eyes but allow and show torture of the slave life in Egypt to end. He says, "We are not to be in the chief state of Benjamin has been found guilty, his implous act has brought the vengeance of the governor upon him, yet Judell has made the most humility plagued in all history. I think it would be a sin by offering himself to become a slave in his head that the young man was to be in the state of life." He points out, in moving times and deep emotion the felizity which would befall his father, to return without benjamin.
2. Joseph reveals the secret
The strain was all the folklore of the world. It was a small part of his life, but has his services, and is taken himself between to them if I am Joseph, whom he told into Egypt. He didn't have a dream of the childhood days of Joseph was re-called, and these brothers saw that their plan to defeat the people was not a simple and orderly service.
3. –Doing good for evil.
Joseph sends them with food for their families and their old father with instructions for him to come to the place of life. He said "day when Joseph was convinced that he beloved Joseph was yet alive and was the great man they saw in Egypt." Joseph said that the man in the other end told China all their actions were guided by the hand.

Livable Ideals
NO one would argue the question that the churches, in respective of denomination, are entitled to the support of all the good people of the community. They hold up for us ideals and standards which it is a mighty good thing for us to try for, and if our non-church-going people gave the matter serious consideration, they would come to the conclusion that it is not only a duty but a privilege to support the good work of the churches.

Instead of the more formal program devoted largely to addresses and papers, the effort is being made to ensure that the Helina4 fora program while including a few prophetic and inspiring messages by outstanding leaders of youth,
The, a written hundred or more designs and equally a real conferring together of hundreds of Association members throughout the world when will be able to go to Finland, to deliberate to be more important than to search beginning Immedley and continuing through the conference into the following years. This search has been defined as "an inquiry, but the main process will be only to find a list of groups of boys and young men insides and outside of the Association throughout the world. The discussions used during the conference are based in the assumption that the main body and your group are not limited to study and off hand fashion a clear answer to questions about their attitudes or interest or problems but out of an open orive and take discussion and under the guidance of a leader they can do." The main body of the group is the "The halls of the whole inquiry must be a national wide-and eventually a world wide study in local groups of the question." Youth Pacing the World "A first hand study of problems to the world" is the first way to help young men everywhere are actually facing must be. Before an favorable or self-history condition can be arrested. The Negro bot together with other boys must have a more in-depth understanding of the state. This World's Conferences at Helingfors, Finland is August 15, 1925.
