THE BANKERS OF THE NATION MUST
For the first time in the history of the association, the bankers of the National Negro Business League and according to all reports the meeting was a decided decision to raise race made expressions all of which were calculated to increase the amount of cooperation, but when the meeting which it followed, will result in a flexibility of Negro capital which will not exceed one of them resumed upon the seeming existence of a feeling that members of that profession should be the enemy of the other and that feeling was - deplored. The work of the National Negro Business League and a resolution offered in support of it by Mr. Spanning of the Negro Business League to be the hegenea and facts rather than the expression of information to have been
the matter of supervision of the securing of this labor supply and in time, conditions are going to make it necessary that it be done. Labor burrows can work in conjunction with Chambers of Commerce in gathering these laborers by securing first hand information as to the prices paid, the housing furnished, the prices of food and transportation, etc., and stop to a great extent, many of the evils which have attended the opening of the cotton picking season in the country, are responsible for the refusal of many to leave the city for the cotton field. That thing should be speedily considered.
It is good to note this tendency among the bankers of the race and have to reason of hope that we will be able to work with members of the Negro business world will unite for the carrying out of tasks, work out plans which have less to do with sentiment only and all of which such to cultivate must be done. gations were assured of the safety of their lives and limbs would be unthinkable. It is just that feeling which is responsible for the golf which has in times past separated the members of the road who live in differing section of the race who live in differing sections of this country and has rendered illegible the efforts to present an undivided and unified society. The same origin and in the case of the Baptists, the majority of the newest Negro churches of the North and East are made up of southern Negroes whose brothers and sisters still live in the south. The salary of the pastors, the price of the church, the cost of the church complain in their service to the community is the result of the participation in them of members of the race from the south. The idea of staying away is a wrong and, it indicates a type of thinking which should be foreign to those who profess of race and the possession of the spirit of the race. They have little to do with the service to ones own race either in the way of helping or hindering and the time has come when men of all sections of the country must realize that if there is to be unity of action in organizations of the race, there must be a cessation of the spirit of fear to come.

Central Avenue on Saturday afternoon. A swattering day is again upon Dallas and "The African Boulevard as it called by those who know it beat, is strung with a crowd which moves in all directions and the vart-colored dress of those who compose it makes the effect rather kaleidoscopis. Brown and black men and women with a spruiking of yellows in all forms of dress are milling admiestly about. Small groups are gathered in all of the many restaurants which time the street. Many move in the direction of the picture shows. On Elm Street carl of all descriptions are parked. They range from small Ford trucks to Packards and Piece Arrows and on each one in the legend which is familiar to all at this time of the year: "cotton pickers wanted."
BLESSINGS OF NEGREGATED
SCHOOLS
Arguments seem to count little with some people. That certainly does not mean that everyone is a same man. Those who want to find and do certain things have to be in their own separate schools. In their own separate schools, they do or know, speak or write in different languages. Georgia is in typical southern state of the United States, just like any New England state. They read these books and figures in the schools they study. Georgia is leading toward. Most people in Georgia are leading toward. Georgia is a state of this unique diplomatic power of that unique diplomatic power. "Nero schools of Georgia" are equally half the total population, more than one dollar out of every person in Georgia.
think of armies of ants or swarms of slowly moving bugs with human faces are many as white men. Their faces and features are a study in themselves. Swarthy and old, young and with reckless faces, booted and denim and with cruel faces, all chew tobacco or straws, squirt streams of tobacco juice all about as they mingle with the crowd and ask first one and then another if they "want to pick cotton". One wonders as he sees them where they came from; how the crop is; whether as they say, the homes are fit for human beings to live in as they leave city homes for the country; whether the treatment will be good; whether any of the practices of poisoning which are by no means unknown will be found in their districts; how the women will be treated? All of these things rise in the mind of the thinker who views this hunch which gathers in Central Avenue not alone on Saturday but every day - during the season when cotton is opening. And such thoughts are well worth while and those who in former times went thoughtlessly to the cotton fields see thinking these thoughts also, and in many cases, where the treatment was not so good, are refusing to go again to suffer as they did in times past.
TRAIN RADIO TESTS MADT
A young "huskier" who sites on the shine stand with us tells us of how a white bus driver pays him a dollar a head for pickers. He only transports them to farmers who want pickers. And in the story of this younger we see the newest "labor bootleger" of the state. And we realize that at some time, whether soon or late the very nature of the case, the importance of having the crop picked out early; the fact that the material prosperity of the whole state depends upon the labor supply of these Negroes who seem to wonder almost about the Central track and that the la

An interesting delight on the meeting of the National Baptist Convention which closed in Ft. Worth recently is to be found in a release of The Associated Negro Press to the effect that no member of the official family of either the city or the state was present to welcome that large delegation nor did those who were invited send either to welcome that large delegation nor did those who were invited send either a message of regret era substitute. The writer of the article takes the position that such an attitude constitutes reason for the presumption that national gatherings should be slow to come to such a section.

While it may be useless to argue such a point in view of the fast that the south has been *well* adapted to the rest of the world by recess of the many disgraceful practices which mark it and indicate its general feeling toward the Negro. The Exposa rises just to remark that the failure of the officials of the city of Ft. Worth was, while not unique in the happenings in Texas, rather unusual. The editor of this journal has personally been present at more than a dozen gatherings of Negroes during the summer. They were only state gatherings and each ease the mayor of the city was present and spoke, and remained, in the majority of cases until the delivery of the response to his message. And those responses were, in many cases, no less pointed than that of the gentleman who was to have responded in the Fort Worth gathering. It also is true that in the case of the invitation extended by the city of Dallas to the National Negro Business League, the Governor of the State, the Mayor of the City and The Chamber of Commerce all sent letters of invitation and it would have happened that representatives of each would have been present to welcome the gathering to Texas. All of this is said to indicate, to the extent to which the reader is capable of understanding the situation in that Texas is not all inhospitable to the strangers within hir gates even though they be Negro and that those who have the arrangements of such programs in charge may be responsible for their failure to respond.

Memphis Wins Second Half of Southern League Season to Meet. Birmingham in Championship Series
Mummery, Troy, NY — N.Y.P. — Birmingham twig to the dope the Mummery Red Sox have, been awarded the winners of the second half of the race in the Southern League, the Birmingham Black Barons in the post season championship series.
