There is no getting away from the problems facing the Republican party in the state. The state is divided between black and white and black presidents and the greatest fear of the South is the possibility of a Democratic nomination by Negroes is dominated by Negroes. This problem will also lead to itself automatically as the Republican party in the state is largest, a math, anyway. Professor F. G. Clark, a graduate of Beloit College, Wisconsin, and who also holds a master's degree from Columbia University in an charge of this course. He makes most of his teaching time at Beloit College and tendens 2nd enthusiasm. The College considers it a fortunate situation that Professor Clark could be detached for service at Dalton. Professor Clark is a graduate of teacher in the state and for this reason, as the institution is trying to do in all the extension schools, the strongest available phase of educational work and while it may expect competition, it does have the advantage of experience over other institutions that have an extension school at San Antonio last year, the first of the kind established anywhere among Negro colleges. The advantage generated by Wiley is now in process of organization and will open before the week is out. TUSKEGEE COUPLE CELEBRATE TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY TUSKEGGE INSTITUTE, Ala. Oct. 16—Mr. and Mrs. Alon. T. Holsey were "at home," to their many friends Saturday night on the occasion of their twentieth wedding anniversary. Stand together as they have stood during the twenty years of their married life, the happy couple greeted that, friends who gathered to extend best wishes, the receiving line with them were Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Moton. The home was beautifully decorated with cut and potted flowers. From a corner of the veranda came the pleasing strains of an orange blossom. The wealth of china gifted abundantly to the esteem in which the couple are held. There were beautiful sets for table use, pictures, lamps, vases. Numbers of congratulatory telegrams were sent to the couple. The candy, cake and nuts, and punch were served as refreshments. Mr. Holley is widely known throughout the country as the Secretary of the National Negro Business Institute and the Secretary of the National Negro Business League. ATLANTA UNIVERSITY OPENING IN EXCESS OF TWO HUNDRED ATLANTA, Gk., October 16—The school year has begun with a larger college attendance than at any previous time in its history, the total number being now in excess of two hundred. When there are more students in the college rank, we have an institution with an attendance of students of college rank approaching three hundred. In the college, eight offer so much college work as to each require the complete services of one teacher. This also in a noticeable advance upon the work of previous year. Afternoon classes are all on our regular schedules and taught by regular professors, and the schedule has also been arranged as to offer attractive class work at three o'clock. Who cannot give their whole attention to school work are welcome to offer attractive class work, which may desire, and for which their qualifications make them fitted. THE DALLAS EXPRESS has never assisted the white navy in her duties but it has displaced by the yellow ornament. It has afflicted the navy with its own displaced in a plain, every day, sensible, conservative, n e w n a p p a r e, conservative, n e w n a p p a r e, the passing breaches risen no- denational flag. It professes a country, its love of even handed justice offends all the navy, its love of even navy, its love of even navy, this is pretty high ground, but we live on it-and are prepared to stand and stand with us. This ground is in W. W. A CHAPTER OF DISABLED VETERANS FOR NEGROES According to the statements of Homer J. Hacker, chairman of the campaign committee of the Disabled Veterans of the World War, plans are being perfected for the formation of a Negro chapter of the campaign committee. He points out the fact that Negro disabled men stand in more dire need of government help than do any other class of those who served their country in the war. The benefits which have come to the disabled veterans as a whole through the efforts of the organization which is national in scope, Texas has been particularly successful in providing which have come from organizations of those who served in the recent war and Navajo have in very few instances made any efforts at coming into direct contact with the various kinds which have taken as their special job, the solving of the problems of the our service man. It is gratifying to note the interest which is being taken in the movement by the Negro business and the work which is being done to aid in the speedy formation of the Negro chapter by Mr. Brankins, well known in Dallas. He, it will be remembered, headed the There is an ever present fear on the part of members of our race who could and would appreciate the beautiful and unusual things as provided by an exposition of the magnificence of the other race. And it is true that in times past that fear has rendered the majority of them unwilling to attempt to obtain the pleasure or to enjoy the benefits of The Other Race. Negro division of workers on Poppy boy and it was through him that the organization had added ex-service men of the race have been placed in touch with the campaign committee which is handling the organization of a within the past two or three years the attitude of the officials of the State. Fair themselves has been of such a sort as to modify in a very definite way this fear and to render it less frightening. The State should seek diversion and pleasure in visiting the exposition. The general public can play a large part in making this move, most a success by directing all of the movement to the headquarters of the movement and in helping them in this way to come into the help in their aid. The movement is by itself, it is a movement which describes a large success. Last year these extensions extended an open invitation has been extended in a more definite way and more liberal provision has been made for the accommodation of Negroes than ever before and it has been made without any of the Sheep who have wandered at the reports of the efficiency of the equipment should realize that there is a distraction drawn between the sailing of the goods of the most humble and the most wealthy, building in afres. At any fire one may see a small fire from a small fire spreading of the specially prepared farmland over the Forniture in order to protect it from water and mud, and proof of the fact that Dallas is rather five places in which to live. Those who have wondered at available marks of discrimination which would tend to mar the reports of the efficiency of the pleasure of any person. should realize that there is no distinction drawn between the savings of the goods of the mementum and at least give a fair trial to the promises of the management. There is much of education to be gained from the exhibits and demonstrations, pleasure from the entertainments and satisfaction from the evident deyemy from the average member of the other race with whom movement about the grounds throws one in contact. This year, as was almost uniformly the case last year, the member of the ground throws one in contact and the air is impressed with the fact that really free places in which to live THE DALLAS EXPRESS, DALLAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1920 SUBWAY water with a mi- and dried to a study use. The Road To Better Health Among the various ways of effectively discriminating against Negroes of this country while at the same time appearing to be granting them an equal opportunity to enter contests for the things which should be within the power of every American to grasp there is nothing to compare with the record of the West Point examinations. Ever so often we read of a Negro boy who has been designated to take the examinations but never in recent years has there been one who could "pass" the difficult entrance examinations. Two years ago there was a New York lad named Holley who was recommended but he failed to "pass" and now a youth from Arizona has been recommended. Wonder what the reason is. In the light of the record of the attendance of Negroes at West Point and Annapolis, we are prone to feel that there is something radically wrong with those who administer the affairs of these two institutions for the education of the American youth in things military. Up until now, the only institution that has needed at West Point. They were Flipper, Baker and Young. And there has been no more heart breaking story of blasted hopes and disappointed expectations than that of Colonley Young who was found "physically incapacitated" for the command of a unit during the World War. And as yet we have no record of a Negro in the naval academy and have been no appointee for the examinations of that school. NINCE last July when Cenneter adjourned without the passages of a lecture, she was able to cope with the Present radio talk about interference, has become steadily more adept at using it, and has managed to have more influence and power than any other interviewee power and questioning. Although she has presented weighty arguments, her wave in order to secure a larger audience, the undisturbed increases in the new stations have all combined to increase her literary. And the indications are that the new stations have become worse, until the interference has become worse. Negroes have come to the point that while they deplore the existence of such a situation and they pity the visible subterfuge of their neighbors who would seem fair to them while at heart they are extremely prejudiced, they are willing to accept the terms as laid down in such cases. Negroes have come to the point that they continue to enter the examinations whether they pass or not. They realize that in this day of splendid records of Negroes from every section of the country in mental tests of various sorts, these candidates are not all falling as ignominiously as the records would indicate but they realize that some day and in some way the tide will turn or an "accident" will occur that will prevent Negroes for West Point. That question, like that of the naval academy and some others is strictly "on the lap of the gods." WJAZ Verdict the Cause The immediate cause of the press coverage won by station WAX over the accident was the loss of leaves. Heavenly in charge of the station, he also managed to maintain wavefronts, opening hours, etc. A crew briefed with the proper equipment, may have been required, and any wavefront which he desires, the doctor must have made to take care of the damage. The range of wavefronts causing range of wavefronts. State Department of Justice still has the authority which refuses to stand by for four years, and other specific provisions of the state department. OUR BARBAROUS SOUTH CAROLINA BEST FRIENDS the formation of Broadcasters, the introduction of broadcasters west—the increase of radio confusion with their present wavelengths from all of the stations in the country as well as from the United States. Mr. Paul Klimch, the chief executive of the principal troubled centers so much as with the five prospective broadcasters who make up the broadest prospective group. Another mob has lynched three members of race one of whom was a woman; this time it was South Carolina and the mob was composed of those who so gibly told the world that they understand the Negro better than any other persons in this world and that they are his "best friends." An annual they became "incensed at the action of the court" which had found evidence enough to grant a new trial to these three black folks who had already begun the serving of their last few days on earth before execution for the murder of a sheriff. Stanley is considering this funding for the university's transmissions. He plans to use the Wireless Service Bolletin* of the Department of Telecommunications of 1922, the first telecommunications month, radio signals of a definition used by the public in the stand-alone wireless service. May a Merciful God pity the plight of people like these of South Carolina and every other state in which the love of barbarian exceeds their willingness to obey laws for the government of their own society; laws which they alone make and administer with evident parity in every case of their own society. We must come in some way to assist the pitifully slow progress of erring mortals in times and cases like these for they are sadly in need of it. And, we who have been accustomed by years of this sort of thing, pity them with a pity, not kink to love, but with that of the sort which would that they would see the light of Christianity and remove their own sins. We must unite tenuity to serve their country and civilization by safer deed. BET HEALTH Mobs seem to think that lynching serves as a deterrent to crime on the part of Negroes; but Negroes, reading of happeninga like these, are more impressed with the brutality and barbarian of their neighbors AND THEIR HEARTS than with the innocence of their victims. NOT BROKEN. They are in possession of too many facts concerning these lynchings where a show of anger by some demagogue who is guilty of the crime with which these poor wretches are charged hides his guilt by killing them to the sound of much rejoicing by those who love for the blood of helpless, men and women is satisfied in the orgy which follows every lynching bee. And Negroes also know that some of the men who have increased body members of the white race who have been going to become so slackened by the barbariana of a less intelligent mass that an open division of thought will come and decency will make itself known in such sections. Negroes as such are not criminals to any greater extent than any other group of American citizens with an opportunity for improving their conditions. That fact has been proven by the fact that lynching is a thing is certain and that is that American life and American reputation is suffering at the hands of those compose all lynching mobs and the time will come when, if a fault is not called, the love of the barbariana will so far surpass every other sort of instinct that in more instances than are now being recorded, institutiona will crumble, family life will become a mockery, the love and respect for womanhood will be more apparent, the love of the race will move as definitely but more speedily to a state of barbarian which cannot be hidden behind a mask of apparent prosperity and love of culture. FIND MANY WHITE NEGROES THE "PRINCESS FLAVIA" COMBINES HARMONY OF MUSIC WITH GEORGEOUS SCENFRY AND INTERESTING STORY That ancient story, "The Prisoner of Zenda," leaves nothing of its former glamour as it is fold in song and conversation in "Prince Fiona," another title of the play. It is the entertainment of its patrons for the two weeks in which it is open. It is rich in harmony, evokes in stage an costumes effects and brings to Dallas a cast of artists who are passionate about the play. Howard March, senior, who plays the role of Herbert Rassadny, young Englishman whose resemblance to the dissolute Crown Prince, who gets so drunk on the play that he no longer has an intimate friends of the Prince, is a singer with an unusually pleasing voice which, combined with his good ability as an actor, makes him an agent for the company. No other major role has ever no greater sponsorship has been heard here in dramatic life in a production of this type that Miss Niese Herbert, leading lady of the company who carries the role of Princess Fiona, singing and acting in the play, has been involved in. The most critical Northern and Eastern audiences. Both of the leaders are well supported by a large cast of singers, men and women whose voices are not possessed by the music. The music while not possessing the lil' and werv of that of "The Student Prince," is definitely pleasing and rich in harmony. The orchestra, differing also in composition from that of the other companies, is not as strong as the effect of the performance by its residency of all of the numbers. The stage effects are superb. Beauty in sensory is enhanced by the use of color and light. The actors have been blessed by the sound of a real artist to produce of feces that cannot be forgotten. It is probable that no more impressive stage has ever been in Dallas than that which gracefully has been played by the actors.
