The coming of the New Year will bring days of chance to do and to achieve more greatly than last year, in natural that those who think in terms of the many opportunities for advancement which are ours, will be able to unwind, wonder, whether the New Year will mark our progress and bring Diping the past year in our conscious life we made few advances opened wide of the smaller host and like all of them of smaller forms. There was but one outward proof of the fact that the group here and come into any conception economic war. We still have - no large grocery stores. We still have no shop or hamburger stores. We still can not control any access to life. We still have - money life and we still have - money to operate the consortium which would change that condition. We have no large grocery or filling stations and we still have - money to operate the consortium which would change that condition. We have no large grocery or filling stations and we still have - money to operate the consortium which would change that condition. We still are content to have our money go to stores which openly display by the axes. We still are content to have that they do not desire our trade. We still are making others economically independent while we ourselves are becoming more dependent. And all of this is true in the real world, that is that we must be able to chance this condition but the will to run in our strength and understand it. To wonder whether or not this year will be the day in the future that we will not be and to urge more of the sorrow that we will come to do and be manifest goodness he is not a waste of time, usually to cure, but information demand that we do not remain in the world when the New Year found an end in a misfortune, and will be able to succeed. ANOTHER BANK FAILURE * ACCORDING TO PRESS dispatches the largest of the Negro banks of this town. The External Scaled Bank of Mumbai, has closed its doors due to the deflation of two officers. The funds as it has been disclosed by a causal explanation are more than $200,000 short. A confession is allowed to have been made by the two men responsible. Time was when such a failure would have been the signal for a wholesale withdrawing of funds from all of the institutions owned and operated by members of the race in all parts of the country. Large amounts of comments would have been made and there would have been resolutions galore to the effect that "Negroes cannot run banks any way." Some of that may be done in regard to this situation, but the fact is that time and the operations of Negroes in the business world have caused more of confidence and understanding to come to the race as such and there will be far less hysteria than was formerly known. We should have come to realize that the failure of a Negro bank, due to whatever cause it may be, is but one of the many such experiences which will come in the course of human events and that the proper line of action would be to thrive and grow and lived as long as it did, thus proving that next time its growth will be greater and its life longer. Negrecis will continue to strive to operate banks. All of them will not fail. In fact fewer of them are falling as time goes on and statistics prove that even with all of the resources they have, they will not be able to operate other race. We have lost in those banks and will continue to operate and we trust them with our funds. We do and have done no worse with our own. We continue, in spite of such failures to place our funds in the banks—operated by those of the other race, they then not with those of our own. We have lost in those banks, in one case with the percentage favoring the benefits we use to us with the final success of our own. We regret the failure of this latest venture but we do not take it, to mean that Negro banks as such will never be he safe, sound institutions to we consider others. They will be. We will continue to try them. We must continue to try them for Negro banks as such will never be he safe, sound institutions for economic efficiency. Let us not be下重心. This is but an incident in our financial careers. ANOTHER SIGN OF CHANGING TIMES When the reports of these conditions first began to fill our ranks, we jointly constructed prevention wall which the white squirt was built into, its acts of discrimination and this committee was appointed, in the members of the race in the country viewed it with disbelief. LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON are the sins of the fathers visited in miracles but they are visited upon miracles. At least this appears to federation of the edge of several last week who, while playing a raged one of their number to a man, were so nauseous that the nigger" were so nauseous their fathers that they paid no as for aid. Then even follows and called the women to see and when aid finally reached him they realize the gravity of their indicate the direction of the witch. Not only are the sins of the fathers visited upon successive generations but they are visited upon immediately connected generations. At least this appears to be true in the light of consideration of the case of several little white ladies in Louisiana last week who, while playing at "nigger and hanged one of their number to a tree and strained their neck," sent to be "the nigger." They were so enthused with their mimicry of their fathers that they paid no attention to the cries of the youth for aid. Theyaven followed the example of their fathers and called the women to see the sight. The youth was dead when aid finally reached him. And not until they were able to see the nigger, Straws indicate the direction of the wind. This play of these youth with its fatal ending indicates the direction of their thoughts. They have learned the tactics of the mob at that early age and; with a real "nigger," missing, just anybody will do for the victim; even one of their own. And that is mimicry of the really efficient sort. The mob at that point now that it is none too careful in determining the color of its victim. It just desires to kill and to main. Youth is following fast in this same vein. It is probably true that in the homes of some of these boys there are grue memories of lynchings in days gone by. Charred bodies of many people now are displayed; all some conspicuous places of fathers tell with much satisfaction of the "killing of the nigger." More and more will such a harvest of disaster follow the continuation of this lynching will. It will grow worse, not better unless it is recognized for the dangerous hinge that has been built into the institution. It is democratic institutions. It is the greatest menace which America now faces despite what others may say. 'And certainly when its line proves stronger than the teachings of Bessent teachers' says M. C. A. leader among the youth of Boston, 'you can look, listen and set to thwart it before it is too late.'
