An enclosure was made from the paper of publicity for the local committee of Marshall which is to entertain the coming meeting. The Executive Secretary states also that, the first issue of The Tugandan Mandal, official publication of the association is off press and is being marked to the members of the state. He points out that this is the first time in the history of the association that such early delivery of the minute issue has been published four during the year. The arrangement of the paper is to contain in addition to the regular proceedings of the meeting closely located in Austin, certain important to the members of the profession. A statement of the importance to the members of the extension of teachers-certificates is incontinently displayed alone in the national NEGro Health Week. Prairie Ulew and Dallas Soon to Be Joined by Other Institutions According to advice from the office of President W. H. Bank, Virginia, in the military in registrations and the two Delta schools which were close spends, will soon be joined by the Army in making preparations for the early registration of members. It is expected that by the current year most of the 2009 military honors will have registered. The Dallas Express HOW MUCH DO WE WANT A Y. M. C. A.? The answer to this question will be found at the drive for $50,000 which the Y. M. C. A. is now undertaking here. Beginning on April the third all of the members of the race are being asked to unite in one great effort to raise $50,000 with which to offer the made offer by the Central Committee of a gift of $100,000. An additional $25,000 will be made available by the raising of the $150,000. How much does this city think of its men and boys? Or better, we might ask, how much does our group think of its own men and boy? The idea in minds of the members of the other race seems to be large. Their offer of such a sized gift seems to prove this. Certainly the manner of their offer gives the most biased to feel that they are deeply interested in the establishment of the means of better facilities for the training of the Negro youth and men of the city. And this is by no means the beginning. For several years we have been working to mean for keeping alive the spirit of the Y. M. C. A. among us. If Dallas is eager to show itself worthy of the respect which it so often claims this certainly is the time. If this group is ever to prove itself entitled to continued effort in its behalf this is surely the gold standard for the training of the Negro youth and men of the city are certainly well worth the effort. 18000 men and boys who are ours may have placed all of the facilities of the Y. M. C. A. Special lecture courses, physical education, Christian recreation, vocational training and best of all, living quarters in wholesome environments. All of these things will be housed in a building that is designed to be a harbour the next ill spent energy of this tremendous group among us and direct it into useful channels. it means the changing of dull-eyed, unambiguous men and boys into clear-eyed, ambitions, vigorous assets to the community. It means the conversation of 18,000 men and boys with the community guaranteeing to this community a better chance to grow and to thrive as a Christian city filled with those ambitions are directed toward the constructive rather than the destructive. In the money, this company means that we need to think of ourselves just half as highly as our white friends. Surely it will mean that we all must sacrifice. And what really good and good thing was ever accomplished without sacrifice? In the beginning there already was an effort to do it. Our busiest men of money and affairs have agreed to stop their work and give their time. It is expected that they will pledge their money until it hurts them. They have done the really great thing. They must do it. We all must bend every energy to his great task of doing for our men and boys. We must prove that which we have claimed for a very long time—that they are worth all that we possibly can give them in the way of opportunity. We must do this in their own race. THIS DRIVE MUST SUCCEED. WE MUST GET THAT $5,000. NOW AS NEVER BEFORE WE MUST FORGET ALL ELSE IN THIS GREAT CONSTRUCTIVE EVENT! Wedding Bouquets and Decorations, Funeral Designs, Cut Flowers and Made Up Pots, Pot and Bedding Plants TO THE COLORED CITIZENS OF DALLAS: The white citizens of Dallas are offering to invest $100,000.00 in an institution that will be devoted altogether to the physical, mental, social and spiritual training of our young men and boys. It is expected that $25,000.00 will be donated for the same purpose by an out-of-town friend of the race, on the condition that we will raise $50,000.00 among ourselves. The building proposed for us is a modern four story structure that will cost not less than $175,000.00 fully equipped. The proposition has been accepted, and we are organizing for a ten day campaign, beginning April 3rd. It is the largest task of the kind ever undertaken by members of our group in this section; but WE CAN DO IT AND WILL, if all of us (those who must give small amounts as well as those who can give large) will FULL TOGETHER, make a sacrifice, and do our whole duty. Rowley, Sons. --- THE DALLAS EXPRESS The greatest bit of discussion featuring the shooting of The Independent Colored Voters League last Saturday was brought about by the introduction of the resolution calling for harmony between the warring elements of the Republican Party in this state. The suggestion of a ticket of delegates was particularly bitterly fought by those who, for the time being, were unable to swallow the inclusion of the Republican Party in the resolution of that element in practically disfranchising the members of the race constituted such a hindrance that the resolution was almost lost as the result of it. But it passed. The representatives of more than 100,000 Negro voters did go on record as favoring harmony. MEMBER NATIONAL NEWS PRESS ASSOCIATION THE DALLAS EXPRESS PUBLISHING CO. Entrusted at Post Office at Dallas, Texas, an second-class mail station. Dearer St. Chicago, Ill. W. u. F. Company, 604 Morton Ridge, 114 East Nassan St. The question which naturally arises in the light of such a fact is how the two warring elements involved will take such a proposition. The Expresses of course cannot now prophecy. It will not attempt to do that. But it does call attention to the fact that it is by now well known that others as well as Negro voters themselves realize that Negro Republican voters must assert themselves if either of the two factions is to have the decision in the now well defined fight between the Creager and Wurzbach forces; but Negroes as such are more interested in the exercise of their suffrage rights in behalf of the party of their choice than they are in the victory of either side of the Texas fight. They realize that only in the spirit of harmony can the party be built up; and, not in an attempt to dominate or absolutely control but in a simple effort to be represented in its deliberations, the league comes urging those members of the race who will support the Republican party to endorse the movement for peace and harmony. THE DALLAS EXPRESS has never hosted the white widow of the late diamond by the yellow streak it not afforded with the white widow of the every day, sensible, non- sensitive newspaper, whether painting board, if yes, painting board; if yes, doubtful filer; if preface, national list of even hand- lettered books on the se- cond line; this is pretty huge, this is pretty huge, days of the press coming up and stand with us. This ground is deep. W. R. KING THE INDEPENDENT VOTERS LEAGUE MEETS It has never happened before" in Texas that a group of Negroes numbering nearly 200 has paid its own expenses and come to a meeting for the purpose of discussing ways and means of increasing the effectiveness of their votes. It is also well worthy of record that in the assembly were several members of the Democratic party who made known their affiliations. In fact the president of the league in a Democrat and in his acceptance of the welcome to Dallas made a plan for a growth of strength among Negroes in his party because of the fact that by such a step "friends at home" might be made. OUR MURDER RECORD IN THIS COUNTY Too many Neuros are murdering each other in Dallas and its immediate violence. It has just about come to the point that few words without the occurrence of the telltale passions of a mournant. Our criminal courts are now援围 with such cases. Four are not for the counting month. And the fault in which such violent crimes are being committed by litigants which are not worth considering among well beaten persons. Strange too. It is that the majority of who they commit such crimes are roving. Their age is not relevant to the charge. It is well enough in charge the case up to the degeneracy of the times and on. Dinking. Little does concerning it. It but it should be the task of thoughtful persons to realize and to realise that the very fibers of our racial being is threatened for the wholesale direcron of human life. There are many who claim that only the elderly old man hard to see in the days that are going to the devil. The Express does not do just that. But it does raise the question of 'why' in record to such a situation. A joke of this county recounts the story of a man who was accused of the murder case set in his court, were cases involving Norwegian. And those, who peruse the columns of our daily papers, are one can see that he did his duty and speak his mind. It takes and communicates on our social and home life. It is good positive that all of our questions are good for good thinking, and great for their abilities. For it is ultimately true that the effect of reward to suit situation. A judge of this county recently expelled the act that the market, the member case set in his court, are cases involving Negroes in column of our daily papers and well in this one can see that he will not speak without good feedback on our social and community positions. We are good positive that all of our judges for good are finding themselves faced with a task to resolve the maximum amount of matters which are to be made under the plan. And certainly we can afford to do no less. The fact is that our concern should be greater than that of others for it generally happens that we do not have "friends at court" when such matters are being handled in their offices instead of being left out. It seems to The Express that civile judges in every Negroes sections constitute a necessity which is exceeded solely to the failure of my comparable to none other in the civic life of the race. The organization of such bodies as proposed through the courts can be better handled by civile judges with which its officers are serving this community and studying to fill all of the needs of the group in Dallas. THR DALIAS EXPRESS, DALIAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY MARCH 31, 1928. Party Harmony is Plea The resolution was definite in this resolution, but the various factions within the party in this state and the _suggested_ condition are outlined for the conference of _Republican_ voters In such a step these voters have shown themselves actuated by generous motives and constructive ideas. They have declared themselves willing to overlook one of the difficulties in the war, a future the warring elements headed by Messrs. Creager and Wurzbach may well think carefully over this proposal. More than are numbered in both of their factions combined have made this proposal for peace. They have declared themselves willing to overcome our purposes and motives. But there is no reason to feel that this large mass of voters and leaders is ignorant of its strength or its rights in the matter of participation in the affairs of the party. They lack led for Republican groups could be interested in the interest of the future of the party in this state. Resolution for Party Harmony Among Republicans in Texas Dallas Texas Marathon Committee Members of the Independent Colored Voter's League of Texas Voter's League of Texas—whether in athletic contests or in intra-partisan rights, might be involved in the excitement and excitement, but gets the participants nowhere; and... in view of the fact that the success of the party depends solely on the participation depends solely on wholly upon harmony, team-work, group activity, and the unification of subordination of all desires for public office, party demination, government attendant upon party control; tiring of the incandescent and the repeated internal buckling of the party; the resilient retention of a healthful constitution; the consistent party bring about and maintain party harmony and build up a robust and functioning Republican party Be it resolved that we, in con- ference, shall unalterably oppose to any movement or procedure with the intent to undermine our calcula- tions calculated to reaffirm its growth and render inert and inert its functions and ac- cuse that as a means towards parity international differences our internal differences must be addressed in the independent Colored Voters' League of Tennessee Take the issue into our own vitaliate and endure a movement that the Republic State Convention, 22, 1923, elect eight (8) defeats with one half the vote in the con- firmation the following outstanding Tennessee citizens—and Republican Harry Murray, Congressman A. Puden of Houston, R. B. Craw- nell, Congressman Harry Engle Notes of Saginaw, W. B. of Dallas, Captain John O. P. DeWalt of Houston, Many Rangers in Debate Over the They met in the interest of the 260,000 voters of Texas and decided to set "wisely and judiciously." They announced that the reason for the meeting was not "office seeking, domination of any party, the saving of the bloody flag not the fanning of the fires of racial antipathy." They met to seek "active-participation and deserving representation in partisan affairs." They passed, resolutions to organize their forces to participate in all of the preset convictions of May 5 and repudiated any sort of an attempt to bar race members from such conventions and elections. They agreed to raise to finance a campaign of education for all race voters and finally concluded "that the Negroes of Texas as would not tie their cause to parties as such but would support men and measures." Such an accomplishment, in the light of the past political performances of Negroes, is special and most unusual. It indicates that thoughts instead of emotions have begun to dominate their political lives. And to The Express, it means that a step in the direction of progress has been taken. Negroes, who are the most powerful of the congressional districts and those who will take charge of the organization of precincts and counties to organize their voters, explain to them the need of careful study of the situation which now confronts the voters of this state and prepare them to do the intelligent thing in all of the elections of this year. The Express gloves that The Inventor knew in his meeting of last Saturday. It paved the way for organized effort on the part of more than 100,000 voters this year and made possible the active participation of organized groups in all of the local elections which may directly concern them. Out of such actions is history made. The Treasury resigned was the center of the hottest debate of the whole meeting and most of the rallies raised by those who, at first could not be called to the proposal to include "bank" members in the delegation. More reservation of the convention showed the desire of the convention to include all incomes in a "harmless" amount, including all members of the party. They indicated that responsible for the present divided condition of the party and that the party would try to practice the very thing against which it was fighting. Withdrawn. We are now entering upon the second quarter of the half year study of the ministry of our Lord as given by St. Mark. The writer has thrown upon the canvas the life and dooms of Jesus in rapid succession. He has given us the story of striking events and the wonderful life of Jeans from His baptism to the present but we are to now witness a slowing down as the present crisis is reached and the face of Jesus is revealed. We are to remember the month of April, since the event of the last lesson the opposition of the return had gradually increased and their designs on His life had become more determined. Many of His followers who constantly pressed upon Him to hear and see the wonderful Prophet, had gone to the church and went north into Tyre and Sidon, where the Lord headed the daughter of the insistent Gentile mother. On their return trip through Epacons His performed many miracles of healing. Now to the end that time might be led for rest and to give rest to the work of the kingdom which was so to be held in their hands. He goes into settlement. He selects one of the most beautiful spots in the regions of the Holy Land that He might, also, find out what programs the Israelis are doing in the region, so he puts them to which they found their way was at the base of the majestic Herculion lifting its rugged head 8000 feet above the little city of Césarthen-Philippe melding in the valley below - multitudes of sparkling streams find their way down the idea of the mountain mountaintop a wealth of invariant of shrubbery, jersey Colorado flowers, green grass, white bubbling shrubs which give life to the landscape and earth - on their cheerful bounty to the sea of death. Casserae was built originally by Herod the Great; but it was later rebuilt by Herod Phillip, and named Phillip after himself, and to distinguish it from Casserae on the Great St. the Roman capital of Palestine, where St. Paul spent two years in prison. It was in this heathen religion that Jesus sought safety from the wicked designs of His own people. He had come to town. Here she met him, be alone with the disciples—after some time in prayer He seemed to prepare the twelve for the approaching and He seeks to know Populus Opion. "Who do men say that I am?" When Jesus was far off in this quiet retreat. He had preached to them the gospel of the kingdom, headed all manner of disease and afflictions among them, no case had ever been too hard for Him; He had even brought the dead to life. He had forgiven sins—now what do they think about this? This question has come on down the ages. No character, no reason, no reason, no reason, much discussed as Jesus the carpenter of Nazareth: Skepkins, infidels, the learned, the ignorant and every class in civilized life have been concerned with this question. Their answers have been just as varied as the opinions given by the disciples. There was great difference of opinion, some said He was Elijah, some John the Baptist returned from Egypt, some John the Baptist called the priests who had reappeared. It should be called that proceeding the Captivity an age of darkness came—no prophet appeared and for four hundred years there was silence. It was John who broke that long silence and introduced Jesus to the world. One thing is certain—men reaped Jesus as an extravagant reward. It was so them; and it is so now—as this question still thrust at the heart of humanity men admit that He was an unusual person—while millions say He was more than a prophet. This Question Resolves Itself into an Individual One. To the Master the opinion of others was quite interesting—but that is not efficient, "Who say ye that I am?" It tells this all important question to their neighbor but must ever grapple with for themselves. Jesus makes the question quite direct and pointed, addressing it to the disciples, it was an awful moment. What was the opinion of those men who had been closer to Him during His ministry than any one else—what kind of impression have you gotten of me? This is a fine way to learn the week points in one to see what these think about you with whom you live. The Great Confession! In Lines 18-18, We have the Great Ritual; Matthew 28:19, we have the Great Commission, Mark 8:29, we have the Great Confession. "Thou art the Christ," Matthew 28:20, Son of the Lord, "thou art the Lord that all would have answered as readily as did Peter, for in the company was, Judas and doubling Thomas. This was a wonderful confession from every view point. It acknowledged Christ as the Messiah—the perfect expression of God—standing at the end of the law for righteousness sake, the fulfillment of an ancient promise, the fulfillment of all the disciples thought, but this question was designed to bring from them an open expression. Our faith becomes deeper and more potent as we express H. Other writers tell us of the compliment paid Peter—but Mark makes no mention of it—but does mention the rebuke he received. Jesus had told the disciples some time before this incident that He had things to say to them that they were not prepared to receive at that time, but now that they had understood who He was the way is prepared for a fuller reception. He was prepared for a fuller reception. He began to tell them His reflection. His humiliation. His awful death on the cross and finally His resurrection. This was not what they desired to hear. So Peter assumes to change the whole program—telling Jesus that God will save him and saving God suffer much humiliation. It was not Peter so much as Satan who had gotten into Peter and offers Christ temptation of the easier way to the eternal throne. Christ know who it was and said to him "Get behind my Satan." Using the same words that He had used at the temptation of Jesus, Satan came the nature and completeness of the work of Christ. The Self-Denyal in Christian Discipleship. The cross had definitely flung its shadow across His pathway, and nine instances are recorded by the Evangelist. In fact from this point history begins to bear more direct reference to the Lord's biphasic death. We are told: "The lines of life run parallel, you cannot conceive of victory without battle, the preclude to light is darkness; to hope without hope, to hope to light is darkness; to hope to eternal life is through death. The Christian Church is not making progress today because it seems to seek a life of ease." The term, the cross, has become no common with us that the pathos of the sense in which Christ cured it. It is likely to be lost. As far as is known the early Christianized with Him in the same manner as the un-dressed crucifixion." This punishment was quite common in Palestine. The condemned man was forced to carry the cross on which he was to die from the place of judgment to that of execution. This was done amid the jeans and laughter of the multitude. For Christ the Mighty healer and wonder worker to thus die seemed to the disciples to be a sign of his power. He was natively associated with Christianity. The death of Jesus on the cross makes it the emblem of the highest Christian joy. John Bowring immortalized the conception when he wrote: "In the cross of Christ I glory. Towering of the wrecks of time! All the light of sacred story Cathaera round its head solitude. Jesus and saving Jesus." But the same thing that knows no measure, Joy that through all time abides.
