IN JAIL FOR DISTURBING
SHERMAN, Texas, Oct. 31 - In a meeting featured by the greatest disorder in the history of such gatherings in Texas, the membership of the Baptist Educational and Missionary convention, of which Rev. B. Allington Wilson of Dallas, is president, split into two congressions, and the inauguration is headed by Rev. K. B. Herton of Houston, according to the most authentic reports coming from the gathering which closed Sunday night.
During the meeting which lasted for three days or more, near the orderly ordering in the actual order, the leaders of the inaugurated movement which included some of the most prominent Jesus Baristat and a successor, were on October 29, were the high points.
Fight Stations Over Enrollment of Delegations
According to reports from those in actual attendance at the meeting, the trouble started during the meetings. It is claimed that the two factions had come to the meeting of this same convention which began last year in the Parliament meeting of this same convention, which was acclaimed as the winner of, content which was hotly contested as the winner of, summoned to the Church to restore order.

DALLAS DISTRICT
NOTES
The quarterly conference, held at White-Rock last Tuesday, was attended by many of the Abington serving him as secretary. The quarter was the best year—and all have been. Good. Rev. J. L. Johnson is a great pastor and of people who all follow him. He is a bright-eyed, he is a hard worker. The reports were just the truth, and the smiths these people in their quarter. All of the boards and leaders made should be made of Brother Peter Clark and Brother F. T. McShannon. The former is an old man, the latter is a young man. The place as having made the class reports or any class district, Brother Clark's class reported $17.75, and Brother McShannon more than a hundred and fifty dollars were raised in the quarter.
Thursday night, the quarterly conference was held, Mr. Martin M. A. Ballenger, pastor. This congregation has been a decorum discernent since the old self. A very fine quarter of the congregation has having a nice wolf for tortor. The congregation has bought temporary altar where M will work with the congregation. He has secured. Brother Ballenger will do and reserves much credit.
A splendid quarterly conference last Monday night and the next quarter work had been done despite the closeness of the money and the fifty dollars and fifty cents was raised. Many of the reports paid glowing concessions hard work during the year, and requested his return. All the layovers and the coming conference. They are determined that nothing shall be great people and will always do when the crisis comes.

THE NORTHWEST TEXAS CONFERENCE A. M. E.
CHURCH CONVENES IN AMARILLO. RT. REV.
W. SAMPSON BROOKS, PRESIDING
By Chasa, W. Abington.
Amarillo, Texas, Oct. 17—The Eighteenth session of the Northwest Texas Annual Conference met this morning. One gets some idea of the vastness of the Lone Star State when he considers the distance from the seat of the conference and the one which met last week at La Perca in the Rio Grande Valley—it is about being 1,000 miles from the other. And while Amarillo is in the Famous Panhandle only a short distance from New Mexico on one side—it is yet quite a distance from the Northern limits of the state. In one corner are fields of other citrus trees, flowers and cotton—in this section corn, wheat, cotton, sheep and those products which grow best in a northern climate. Amarillo is a beautiful modern city with a population of about forty thousand residents, a very fine group of Colored citizens.
One church membership is small—but the members of other denominational groups opened their homes and treated the conference as real brethren. This application led to a new chapter in the C. M. E. and Baptist Churches. No finer spirit of cooperation could be desired. We would like to thank the relationship trust in this city between the races—the white citizens are quite friendly to us, and these men were told that none of the leading hotels have recently discharged. We have a white servant instead. I mention this because of the grower who has discharged with Negro labor—this touches us at the most vital point and we must not allow it to be so good where ever we get a chance. The time has come when a job

Each weary night I try to sleep,
But aweens all in the vain;
I roll and thunk in the air;
Till daylight comes again.
Bell I miss you at dawning, dear,
When the rose is wet with dew;
I know the day can bring so joy,
Because it brings and you.
I see a little cottage,
We once had wanted so;
But Fate had played her hand too well,
And chilled for you to go.
It was only one of many dreams,
Which never came to me,
But still I dream of days gone by,
Of springtime, dear, and you.
Sotta miss you, Sweetheart,
That's why I'm feeling blue,
I've tried to sleep about you,
But just can't help thinking about you.
Jumby submitted,

When the policy of secreting government employees was extended and forbidden under President Obama, the government protected vigorously against the "radical denouncement." A letter from the Office of the President, McFord Field School, President, and by Dr. Britton and Owain Taitkirk, a professor of the defense of secrecy on the ground that Negroes would be employed in all Nebrogo bureaucies or sections, and showed both the bultures of Negroes and the portunity inflicted by the "practice." November of 1912, Mary Curtis, Nurse, the Secretary of the N.A. A. A. O. We are to consider for our lesson today events in the life and labors of St. Paul which are an fascinating and gripping as fairy tales told to children. After the three years at Ephesus in Asia Minor, the Apostle crossed the Aegean Sea into Macedonia, where he visited again the churches in Philip, Thessalonica and Beren—journeying to Ephesus in Asia Minor, the church at Gorinth. To prepare the way for his visit to those churches he had sent Timothy and Erasus in advance, while he remained longer in Ephesus, where it is now. He was instructed to visit the church instigated by Demetrius and men of his craft. Paul kept in mind the dutiful saints at Jerusalem and was gathering together throughout his journey funds for their work. He was instructed to go with him to Jerusalem and present the gifts. From Ephesus a disciple named Sopater. From Thessalonica went Aristarchus and Secundum. From Derbe in Asia Minor, Athens. Timothy were sent, and from other churches in Asia Minor, to Ephesus. These men went on and waited for Paul at Trosa. Paul was joined by Luke again at Philip, who was his traveling companion to Trasus. When the delegates all met that would take them on their journey.
On the evening of the first day of the week, or Sunday, a great full well meeting was held Toni Paul and his party, who were to start the next day on the long journey to Jerusalem. The party was the third story of the house and was crowded with the disciples who had come together to say good-bye to Paul and hear words from him. It was on this occasion that Paul preached all night, and the young man named Satyahne was siting in the room, and he was in a moment of contentment below and with mild killed. But when Paul learned of it, he went down and, like Elijah and Elijah, brought the young man back to life, and continued his meeting—during which time they celebrated the Lord's Supper, and then preach the gospel. The original plan to sail from Calcutta—but in some way he learned of a plot to take his life on board the ship. It is not certain whether this plot was the plan of an oweous Jewa who wanted to get rid of him, or as some think, the plan of a wealthy Jew who wanted to sum of money and they were going to kill him to get that. To elude these would be murders. Paul changed his plan and proceeded by land along with Luke's a companion through Thessaly and Macedonia until he reached Neapolis and then proceeded to Philip—it was from that point that he set sail for Troas.
From Tross Paul again set out on foot for Asses while the rest of his party sailed around the cape to the same place. When Paul rejoined them they continued their journey, the rest of the party, Chios, Samos and finally their boat put in at Miluton. From Ephesus. It is likely that Paul thought it not wisdom to go that far from his ship—it was a merchant ship and the length of time it laid in any harbor was determined by the amount of time required to load and unload its cargo. The ship went to Ephesus to tell the leaders of some down to Miluton. The men they arrived on the second day. The ties that bound these men to Paul were strong—he had labored with them longer than he had with any other congregation, and the work they had accomplished together, their joyful experiences, their memory of Paul's ever live in his memory altered Paul's life its death.
His address to the elders on this occasion is one of the most remarkable on record—not only is it a literary gem—but it gives us a wonderful insight into the Apostle's relation to the churches he had founded, and while he had declared to them the whole counsel of God—he had done so in the words of his own life, "I will give you their memories of the days when they labored together to build up the work." Said he: "Ye know, that from the day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations which beheld in wait of the Jews." The Lord told Ananias of Damascus, "You must order to go and lay his hands on Saul, 'I will show him what great things he must suffer for my name's sake.'" The unbroken tension, the rapid succession of his labors, atended almost every step of the way with bitter opposition mark Paul as one of the most remarkable men of the ages. He was in constant in him the need of breast time in which to recover, and was "in laborers more abundant," with no vacation period.
In summing up his life—his idea of the meaning of life, and the various faculties of mind and body with which he was equipped—was to preach Christ to those who knew him not as a personal Saviour, and to strengthen and establish him as a spiritual leader and to stand able to stand the day of testing. His energies never fanged under strain and his courage never failed in time of danger. Most men would have weakened after the terrible riot at Ephesus when he was pressed out of "mourning," above the uprising of the soldiers who uprereased ceasan than Paul started upon a new course of life and danger. He went back to Philip, where he had been before "shamely entreated," stripped, scouraged, cast into a dungeon, and made fast in the stocks; to other cities he went to the city of Jerusalem, forced to depart under the cover of night to escape the city to Corinth, where he had been dragged before the judge-monk of Gallio, and where the Jews clamored for his life's blood. Such endurance and activity of body and mind are in the course of his farewell remarks to the Ephesian elders he reminds them that he had never brisk from speaking what ever was good for them regardless of the consequences to himself, both in public and in private—"from abuse to house." He was then going to Jerusalem, where he was to be beaten and be warned in every city that bonds and afflictions awaited him. But he held his life as nothing having the one thought in mind that he might finish his course, and fulfill his ministry. He warned these elders to take care of his business. When he had gone wolves would enter and take the sheep. Their troubles would come from without and from within. The Judasizers would trouble them from the out-

side, and false brethren would trouble them from within. It seems that these brethren stood it alight until he told them that they would see his race no more in life. It he told them that they teamed the great Apotheke and his brethren minded freely — they fell on his neck and kissed him.” Paul leaves Miletus and Luke says, “we came with a bright course unto Coos, and the following day to Rhonae. Paul and his company found sailing into Phoenicia which they boarded and sailed to Tyre. Paul and his company spent some time there, and then after taking leave of the Christians they went to Caesarea. This was the home of Paul's company came to Caesarea and the meeting was a very happy one. Paul was warned by Philip's daughters, who were prophets, and Agobius who told Paul that bonds and imprisonment from this purpose, not not be turned from this purpose, but as his Divine Master set toward Jerusalem. After a few days they went

Mrs. Haashta had many friends among the white and colored people. They were more than glad to render assistance to one struggling so nobly to maintain high standards.
Martha was well aware of the struggle her mother had made, and she was very grateful. Knowing her mother's ideals, she strove hard to live up to them in every detail. Aware of the hard work of her mother had undergone, she was eager to complete her education, get some well-paid position and thus be able to give her beloved mother a much-needed rest.
