Hot Springs was glad to welcome the business of the city in year's work, so it would not so large and its previous one, but there was nothing lacking in the architecture and the sheer beauty to see something done. The Negro section of the city, including the famous Maven Ave. building, the Temple and the home of the Negro, served as an impressive introduction to the enterprise of the citizens of the city. The nations to put over big projects. Dedicates to a magister convention delegates to a convention to be held, and been said of them. An impressive array of came from all parts of the country.
Governor McRae Speaks.
The outstanding features of this year's sessions were the speeches taken to crystallize, to some extent, the attitude of Southern white people in the national government, the president of the league, the actual adoption of a program, the actual adoption of a program to bring into play an aggressive attack on the problem, the McAfee's speech dealt with those phases of the life and problems of Negroes, and the honored among Southern speakers as such occurrences, the propriety of Negro Negroes, as well as white ladies, with the other, the world would mean the other, not by the other, but by its good; the necessary forage of a feeling of good will with his own interest in doing all he could in order that the Negro was introduced by a Negro who had lived, with a Negro who had lived, with a Speaker told of some of the things this state executive had done to hit the Negro, to the outside, things which included the buying of a school and the gift land.

Naturally, much interest centered around what Dr. Moton would have to say the day. In some situations accountable way, the entire delegation to the convention was anxious to hear a word from the Pushkes leader, add

Dr. Moton used figures in referring

Some argue it is expressed that in cities
where are large groups of Negroes more has not been done, but
the hope was held for that there.
"We have now 12 successful Negro banks" explained Dr. Moton. We have 12 successful Negro banks, particularly in the North, where many cities with a large Negro population, particularly in the North, where we could accomplish any reasonable business could result if property management. I should like to mention that we have with its great Negro population in Harlem; there ought to be and there unobediently with the near future in a banking and trust company operated by our people, and with the success of the bank and trust company under the leadership of John E. self. I stand on that position today and there is no man living who can make me change it, and there is no man living who can make me remember that will make me surrender it.
"On the other hand, there is the question of good will between the races to be considered. For 35 years, Washougal has been a teacher, a teacher that the school and the town were constantly moving forward in hearty co-operation, and there were those among our white friends in the town that were not as strong as steadfast in their determination that these harmonious relations should not be disturbed as he. Therefore, to avoid any possible rupture of these relations, we must be as far as possible public statements on the situation; I have preferred to adjust the matter on a satisfactory basis, and I have reinforced my recommendations with the statement that If Negro physicians were not as strong as steadfast it would be the occasion of great embarrassment to all concurrents.
At the conclusion of Dr. Moton's speech, the convention passed a reed to trovery. The committee composed of B Hunter, Bert Roddy, Jesse Jones, J. E Mitchell, J. E Wright, B. R. Wright, and made itself personally responsible to the extent of $8,000,000 by January 1st. I am ready to put to work organizing local meetings to get the 1624 session of the league
CHURCH OF GOD'S NEW BUILDING NOW OPEN
After a hard drive and a well-fought financial battle, the Church of God, under the wiser leadership of Elder James Pendleton, has erected a two-story church on the church site in the Fourth Ward. The building has six living rooms and bath on the first floor. To the rear is the 20x20 auditorium. In the center is a large, well-painted pastor's study hall, while on the left is Mr. Pendleton's hair dressing room differing from the other. The room is papered with the latest designs, each room differing from the other. The room was designed and finished by J. W. Hilton, the decorator. Hot and cold water connections extend from the room to the kitchen. Mr. M. Stenon is credited with finishing the carpentry work. Mr. Fred Hardy August 31, at $8.50 per hour, when a Biblio payment of $200 conducted the new auditorium, and conducted the liberal education and numbers on their political beliefs and payment on this building. We assure you that every dollar given us has been used to help the church. Given we shall continue to help you for help on all deferred payments. J. A. Fennell, S.M. Montgomery, J. W. HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 1923.
WELCOME, BAPTISTS OF TEXAS!
"Heavenly Houston" is host this week to that host of Baptists comprising the State Baptist Young People's Union and Sunday School Convention, which is one of the most representative and largely attended gatherings of our people in the entire Southland. Among the messengers from all parts of Texas attending this joint convention are to be found lawyers, physicians, dentists, pharmacists, educators, authors, journalists, publicists, skilled artisans, welfare workers, ministers, farmers, laborers, men and women, both young and old (mostly the former), in all vocations of honorable calling.
These representatives are here on "business for the King" and are here to study and be taught advanced and modern methods for kingdom building and expansion.
In the main, they are active workers in these two auxiliaries of their local churches and are here this week in an annual school to receive instruction, information and inspiration, in order that they may return to their several homes and put into operation some of the advanced ideas gained here in these phases of religious activity and Christian endeavor.
The Informer delights to welcome these Christian workers to our great and growing city, because they are engaged in a work that deals with and vitally affects both the present and future race.
The Baptist church still stands like adamant by its ancient and time-honored doctrine of "one Lord, one faith and one baptism."
It is one religious denomination where the people rule—democracy—and, despite the assaults and attacks of liberalism, modernism and the Baptist still contend for the "faith once delivered to the saints."
They believe in a militant Christianity and the evangelization of the world through the teaching and preaching of the divinely inspired Word, as recorded in the Magna Charta in the realm of Christendom. It is ennacious and doggedly to the doctrine of regeneration: believing that the truly regenerated or re-born man is saved once for all time—"once in Christ never out."
They believe in education and have made wonderful strides in the intellectual field, for there is no colored religious gathering in all Dixie that can boost of more college graduates and educated young men and women than the convention in session here this week.
The Baptists believe in peace, but not in peace at any price. Though secular and sacred historians credit the origin of the Baptist Church in America to Roger Williams in 1639, Baptists hold that their church antedates this period—that John the Baptist was the early forerunner and that Jesus Christ, Himself, was its founder. Entering into any religious debate or denominational controversy, this fact stands out boldly, that the Baptist Church is a potent, virile and dominant force in the life of this country and its black devotees, adherents and communicants are "carrying on" in this splendid work of man's redemption and salvation and the complete establishment or restoration of the Messianic kingdoms.
It affords the Informer no small degree of pleasure to extend a most hearty and cordial welcome to the Baptist State B. Y. P. U. and S. S. Convention, and we bespeak for them a glorious and successful session in the "Manchester of America"—the city with a million opportunities.
Houston is the best naturally endowed city in Texas and here the colored man has made great gains and accumulated vast material possessions.
More members of our own race own or are buying their homes in Houston than in any city its size in the United States. Industrially and economically there is no barrier nor limitation to the number of churches and impatiens that Houston is a city of churches and Mecca for preachers with a future, those with a past and likewise those with neither a past, present nor future. Through the physical equipment does not compare favorably with the equipment does in other Texas cities, our public schools stand second to none in efficiency, thoroughness and high standard of literary excellence. Baptists, you are in the metropolis of Texas, the garden spot of the South and the fastest growing municipality in the entire South. To all that our city has or hopes to have, we bid you welcome!
WHAT ABOUT TEXAS GOVERNOR?
In delivering an address at Chautauqua, New York, a few days hence, Governor Pat Neff of Texas paid his respects, by inference at least, to Governor John R. McCarthy, the governor of our governor's New York address was law and order, respect for the 18th constitutional amendment and the over-

In the days of our youth we always observed that the woman who had the worst children in the community, was always trying to tell other parents how to rear and train their children—most of them did not behavior and deportment that Sister Buoy, body's offspring.
Dr. G. W. Wilkins, Victoria, was in the city this week.
It has often occurred that parents, who devote most of their time looking after other people's children, live to see their own seed begging or going cell-mell to the demission bow-wows. It has also been the case to fit it by these people's paternal errors of omission and commission.
Miss Ethel Lee Chapman is visiting her aster, Mrs. Maria Pinkins, at San Antonio.
It sounds nice and makes good reading matter to give other people gratuitous advice on how to conduct their affairs, but it looks nicer and is more consistent to teach by both precept and example, governor!
Mara, Routt. Sealy, is visiting her daughter, Mheran. Sberman Martin, 157
Mara, Cliffon Scott, 2217 Tennyson, Dalias and other North Texas cottage.
We admit, governor, that bootlegging is a crime against both the state and national laws and that the 18th amendment to the constitution prohibits such activity.
Mrs. Alberta Young, 1514 Mason, left this week to join her husband in San Francisco, where they will reside.
We are also forced to admit that mob-law, gang rule, hooded terrorism, peonage, discrimination, segregation, disfranchisement, arson and murder are crimes and generally on a broader and more organized scale.
Mrs. J. L. Mitchell, 3413 St. Eman uel, has been ill for the past few days but is much improved.
Yea, going still further, we are also compelled to admit that the 15th and 15th amendments to the constitution are also laws of the land.
Miss Beatrice Cebrum, 1020 St Charles, in spending the week in Galveston.
Have you ever heard of these two constitutional amendments, governor?
Mr. Frank Lee, brother-in-law to Dr A. E. Jones, was in the city this week the guest of his sister.
In pursuing your literary and legal course, governor, did you ever hear about or read these two constitutional amendments?

Chas. Walker, Dowling Street, will leave Sunday in wife in Hole in the Rock they expect to reside permanently. Mrs. S. M. P. Collard, 917 Hercules Houston Heights, leaves Saturday for a two week's trip to friends in Wailua.
Do you know that the 18th amendment is not the only constitutional provision and statute that is trampled under the feet of men? Are you aware of the fact, governor, that in Harris County, Alabama, you are in six months that in the combined British empire in one year?
Miss Frank Tervis, Beaumont, after a two weeks' visit to relatives and friends in the city, returned home this week.
Do you know that American citizens have been seized by lawless bands almost beneath the window of your gubernatorial mansion and under the very shadow of the capitol dome, and brutally and barbarously treated by organized terrorists and anarchists?
M. A. N. Kyle, 900 Rhode Street has returned from his vacation spent in Denver, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City and Newton, Kan.
Has it ever occurred to you, your excellency, that your home burg, Waco (be better known as "Barbecue cille") has burged American citizens, both live and dead, right on the public square and dragged their lifeless and charred bodies past your residence?
Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Smith, who have been visiting the mother's mother, Mrs. R. C. Smith, turned to their home in Detroit, Mich. Mesdames Pannie Snowden and Arzee Madison, Marshall, motored the Bentley Convention here this week.
Have you been apprised of wholesale abductions, deportations, floggings, emasculations and other heinous and horrible outrages and depredations, right in your own state, which make the unfortunate Turk blush with shame and seek new fields for his laurels?
Dean J. H. Rowe of P. V. College paid our city a visit last week, being en route home from an overland trip to Galveston.
Say, governor, you have heard of Teneha, Somerville, Goose
Teague, Texarkana, and numerous other Texas towns, where mobi-
vidence and disregard for constituted authority, in some form,
has manifested itself during the nearly three years you have been
in office.
Mim Valida Madison last week for Los Angeles, Cal. to visit friends and will go for the remainder of the summer. Forty years of constant use is the reason the Wifes' Cream Vermifuge for expelling worms in children or adults. Price is $150.
Which is the greater menace, governor: the bootleger, whose customers are sure to laugh, and窃贼, whose customers knowingly, though, by窃贼, have been terrified and lynchcrates, who overthrow constituted authority and establish a reign of disorder, discord, confusion and bloodshed and set up a kingdom of terror.

All members of the Masonic Charity Club are hereby requested to meet Sunday, August 24, at Arnold's hall on 10th Street at 10am. p. W. J. Perry, president.

Are you familiar and acquainted with the lawless records of both states. Since comparisons are ooidious, and, since you possibly have had occasion to reflect on your New York outburst, can't you see, governor, that your most virgin and fertile field for constructive criticism, law enforcement, respect for the constitution and ALL AMENDMENTS, is the Lone Star State, over which you preside.

FOUND PEOPLE AND ADULT TOPIC - Christian Character Illustrated by I. Barnabas, the Man (Acts 4:26)
His original name was Joseph. When he became a Christian, he was sent to Jerusalem and changed the old life to the new. This was a common custom, for example, to Peter and Samuel to and Prophecy or "exhortation or concession" This shows not only the nature of Barnabas but also the spirit of Barnabas but also the preaching. The exercise of this gift made him a son of consolation.
(Acts 4:27)
So fully had the divine love permeated the very being of Barmain the healer, the priest, the healer, he sold his property and brought the money and hid it at the apothetic feet. His generous exertion led him to write his words and prefaces. He counted nothing his own while his brother was dead. He obliged to do this as there was no such thing in the early church as a private ownership of property was recognized. Acts 54: 11. H.B. Barmain Christian State and Church.
The violent persecutions of the church scattered the disciples. As any went they preyed on the church, and were established. The most conspicuous of these was at Antich, the capital of Syria, because it was the place of the spies of Christianity. Everything went well as long as the Gospel message was preached to the Jews and the disciples at that time but that the Gates were excluded. But at Antich certain of these disciples dellerely believed and turned to the Lord. The soil of the Lord was upon this ministry and great multitudes believed and turned to the Lord. The news of the ear of the church at Jerusalem and caused not a little excitement and discussion. The church decided to look into the matter.
4. Barbaina and Saul go to Jerusalem with Alms (vs. 25-30). Because Christ and with one another, the distress of the brethren at Jerusalem must be relieved by the gifts of the saints. Jesus had a powerful effect in reminding the supplicants of the brethren at Jerusalem.

MANUSH SHOULD STAR
AS HEAVY SLUGGER
"A natural hitter who inside of a couple of years should be one of the best leagues. If he continues to improve and learn an rapidly as he has since the opening of the season, he will be a top choice of Heine Mahnke, routed outside of the Tygers. Cobb prefers batman, certainly knowledges. You can see why as a big leaker, is cranking all kinds of trouble for the turbines in the Johnson organization. Standing well over six feet tall, Cobb makes him a cut at the ball that reminds you of Nap Lajoie, Hana Wang and Cranston. Crawford makes him on old days. As yet American league pitchers haven't been able to discover any change in pace, but he is a free swing it was believed a change of pace would bother him. But pitchers slow up and make him a change of pace, and he has to have him come back and whale the next ball delivered in the same way. "I throw him everything I had in my pocket," he said. "I remarked Rumbel Rommel, pitcher of the Athletics, after a recent game. "He hit them all, including the catching out and swatting one."

WITH BRYANT WASHBURN, EVA NOVAK, and PHILIPS SMALLEY. Temptations come to us all at one time or another and strive to fool us in disguise. So in the life of this girl, the monster met her at every turn and lured her on to the inevitable climax. What could it be? Where could it lead? What would be the end? This picture is more vividly told than anything we could ever imagine. And the monster did it till you have seen it taken from our screen. Also RUTH ROLAND in "HAUNTED VALLEY."
