Many alumni of both schools will be flocked to the Horton Texas city to see the show. The show will feature strong stunts, the outcome of which will be known a month after one hour of horticulture has been re-entered the Southern intercollegiate competitions and is making a name for itself. Horton and Coulter College of the Tigers expands its programs to bring the horticulture show to Texas.

GEORGIA MIGRANT DISCLOSES REASONS FOR COLORED EXODUS: SICKENING CONDITIONS OBTAIN
New York City.—The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, 69 Fifth Avenue, is taking up with the Federal Department of Justice a communication from a Negro escaped from the state of Georgia, telling of peonage conditions there. The letter answers the question as to why colored people are leaving the South. It is as follows:
The white man accustomed of pleasure lives in Atlanta, Ga., and has a from which many Negroes are reported to have fled in recent years.
AFRICAN EMPIRE IS INITIATED INTO ARYAN LEAGUE OF NATIONS: FIGHTING IRISH ALSO ADMITTED
London, England.—Abyssinia and Ireland have been initiated into the mysteries of the League of Nations, each receiving the password and becoming endowed with the other signs and tokens. Ireland enters, apparently care free, save for the British influence and indisputable surreality, which will place the Free State in the British group, adding one unit to the empire's voting strength in the doubtful world alliance.
Abyssinia is under similar restraint, and came near as peace to being "black-ballied." In fact, its admission came not only at the eleventh hour but the fifty-ninth minute. This reluctance is said to obtain from the presence of slavery in the ancient country, a practice which can not be immediately eliminated, if its government were no disposed.
Abyssinia is under official thousand. Since then the black-engaged as a matter of record from his commissioned officer has commenced to write a word "hubbah," meaning a mixture, A. The name of the country is officially the land of the Abyssinia record from Abyssinia to Ethiopia. The record from Abyssinia, being derived from the Arabic word being made a mute, was considered by the French to be a reflection upon their pure Negro origin.
The admission of the North African empire has the usual diplomatic strings tied to it. Ethiopia is in the only part of Africa, with the exception of the Nile, which has been the European arena. As such it has been the possible site of the first known human eyes. King Menelik demonstrated that Abyalensis would lie heavily upon it and supported the idea that it up by defending the Italian army at Aden in 1858, when he loved the invaders into a grave and threw a bloody stone down upon them, amassing

Few Real Students of Nature.
Books are of pathetically little use to recognize more of nature. few people recognize more of nature, with flowers, the common trees and shrubs, a few kinds of birds and insects, the notes of birds sees to most persons a miraculous gift. the few who recognize of nature to be gildes that many others deeply long for and that they would handowe themselves to get —'ofthe companion.
Supernatural Concerning Moon.
Why is it considered unlikely to use the new moon through glass? Moon-worship is one of the oldest forms of religion, and the symbol of revival of life was no more that whole tribes would assemble willing for it to appear. Anyone who saw the moon, and therefore absent from the sacred ceremony of welcome.
Hurries in the Ocean.
The oceans have their rivers just like the land. The best known of these is the Gulf stream, but the greatest threat to them is that much of which runs from Japan due east toward the American coast, and so wonderfully modifies the climate that is found in southern Alaska.

It is going to be such a building as will arouse the pride and excite the admiration of every Negro in the State. It is going to be the best building owned and occupied by colored people in the state at this time.
As an investment, it is going to pay a handsome profit in dollars and cents, but it is in sentiment that it is going to pay most. What good has the Washington monument done? It has made every youth in America have more love and reverence for his country. This temple, when built, will be

HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, NOV. 17, 1923.
THAT ARMISTICE DAY PARADE!
Houston (that is "white" Houston) celebrated Armistice Day Monday with a big street parade, which was marred by wringling and withdrawals, charges and counter charges, boycotts and lockouts.
The Knights of Columbus, United States navy, Jewish organizations and several local officials refused to participate in the grand street pageant because of the kluxes' participation in the same, while the poor colored brother was denied a place in the demonstration by the parade marshal.
The parade marshal, formerly a resident of Pennsylvania, took the position that the "parade would be open to every white man's organization" and further stated that he was not going to be guilty of "putting Negroes in a white parade for the first time in Houston."
This former Yankee's ignorance on this subject is quite refreshing, as well as disgusting and exasperating, and is another example of how some of our Northern people can mess up things and muddy the waters in their professed attitude to democracy, the ethics, ethics in front of and demonstrate to that they (the Northerners) are against anything that has the least腜semblance of racial intermingling or, viciously and maliciously styled as "social equality."
This same Yankee opined that colored Houstonians should have had a separate parade, unmindful of the fact that the colored heroes of the world war did not fight in a "separate" war. Is walking in a parade either in front of or behind other persons, an act of social equality? (Let us pray!)
But in catering to prejudicial hydrophobia and trying to prove himself "100 per cent American," this parade marshal was grossly in error about colored Americans participating in "white" parades, even in "Heavenly (?) Houston."
We wonder where this good brother was during the sojourn of the 33rd Division at Camp Logan during the unpleasantness in error about colored Americans participating in "white" parades, even in "Heavenly (?) Houston."
We wonder where this good brother was during the sojourn of the 33rd Division at Camp Logan during the unpleasantness in error about colored Americans participating in "white" parades, even in "Heavenly (?) Houston."
What about those colored children and black war workers who participated in every "white" parade that was staged in Houston during those martial days of 1917-18?
Who can so soon forget that parade armor staged in the tuns capitulated and laid down their military arms?
THE HOUSTON INFORMER, SATURDAY, NOV. 17, 1923
contumelies, discriminations, segregation and other manifestations of gross injustices and inequalities; they were good enough to prevent the war, but numerous opportunities were afforded them—but (God forbid!) these same people are not worthy five years after the cessation of hostilities to march at the tail-end of a "white man's parade," commemorating the day that means more to the civilized world than any day in our history, excepting Christ.
Upon what meat did this parade marshal and his cohorts feast that possessed such indigentive influences and at what fountain did he and they dripk such intoxicating waters or beverages?
If we are to witness, observe and perpetuate "white men parade" in holding a similar event, why did this country pursue a similar policy in drafting its man and power for the successful prosecution of the world war?
Wry draft and enlist black soldiers in a fight for all mankind, and then, after the victory is won, laurels are bestowed upon the men who have served in the war, but since no line was drawn by these same people because of race, creed or class in pushing the war and realizing funds to finance it, this paper is unable to see the consistency, reasonableness, fairness and "Americanism" (much used and more abused word) in the war.
Such narrow, biased, prejudicial, short-sighted, bigoted spirit and procedure may be all right during times of peace, but how will it work, we wonder, during the next war in which the United States is involved?
Could we hear to see the colored people of this country change the John F. Kennedy slogan of "no work, no eat" to "no parade nor recognition, no fight!" Selah!

ANOTHER RANK INJUSTICE.
A few weeks ago one of the largest and most commodious of German-owned passenger and freight vessels docked at the municipal wharf and on the Sunday following thousands of Houstonians wended their way to the Turning Basin to view and inspect this giant ship of the briny deep.
The name of this vessel was the Werra, if we err not; but as far as the colored citizens and tax-payers of Houston were concerned, their name was "mud" when it came to boarding and inspecting this ship, owned and operated by an erstwhile international foe and martial contender.
Five years ago, on the exact date that officers were forbidding and prohibiting colored Americans, Mexicans and dogs from boarding and inspecting this ship, when the colored Americans were rendering yoyan service in a mighty military conflict to subdue these Huns and save the civilized world from the clutches of Hunnish "kultur" and ruthlessness.
But five years bring about marvelous and wonderful changes and thus we see former heroes and saviors of the republic and civilization being politely but pointedly and emphatically told that German is the best nation, but that they were persona non grata on the wharf, which was made possible and built by the taxes of some of these citizens thus denied this privilege.
And to show that they meant what they said, these officers ordered every colored citizen (and incidentally Mexicans and cannes) to "get off the platform and beat it."
They were insulted and discriminated and such gratious insults helped upon American citizens without cause?
Did the harbor board or port commission have a hand in this autocratic and high-handed dictum and ruling promulgated and executed by these minions of the law on that occasion?
Are we to be taxed for the development and expansion of Port Houston and then be denied the small privilege of even walking on the planks on our own wharf when some ship of a former foreign vessel is insulted upon American citizens of the law on that occasion?
First denied and refused permission to board a Hunnish vessel walk and on a municipally owned wharf; platform; next denied and refused our rightful place in an Armistice Day parade!
Again, it looks to The Informer that the all Huns are not of Germanic extraction and that the species did not become extinct with the cessation of the marital contract "over there!"
Heretofore, every time that a bond issue has been submitted for payment, the government has voted almost solidly for these measures and have been among the port's biggest, best and most consistent boosters and proponents.
But listen to the acrimonious remark of one of our leading colored citizens—whose home cost around five figures and who owns several rent houses and is a heavy tax-payer—who was humiliated when they drove down to the Ship Channel in their big car and followed the crowd to the wharf: "To h—l with the Port Houston and all similar ports! I have supported, worked for and voted for my last bond issue for this d—thing."
The Informer has been busy with complaints, protests and incidences, and has additional colored citizens—physicians, dentists, ministers, teachers, business men and hord-working citizens—who were thus so rudely, shamefully and disgracefully treated at our port during the Werrra's sojourn in local waters.
The Informer—a heavy tax-payer and owner of considerable reality—carried a number of friends down in her car, including in the number visitors from New York, and when she and her guests were turned back and driven from the wharf like dogs, she broke down and cried a baby; while her guests looked like a penny's worth of radium.
it is beginning to appear that certain white people here are staying at nights devising some scheme and method of insulting, embarrassing and humiliating colored citizens and tax-payers.
be that some of our white people are quite anxious to see colored people migrate from Houston, and, if they keep up these tactics and stunts, their wish may be gratified earlier than they anticipated; for the follow week one large family, that felt the sting of this insult and rank injustice at the port on said occasion, left for California and stated, upon departing, that when they hope their remains will not even be brought to Houston.
There is an adage which goes something like this, "The devil is always busy," and it looks like his satanic majesty is working overtime in "Heavenly" (?) Houston during these perilous and troublesome days and that his chief target is the true, trivial and loyal race英雄.
I would advise our people to stay away from the port and wharves, for no sane and sensible person will frequent any place where he is not wanted nor desired.
In the meantime, those of us (both men and women), who are going to remain her and continue to be recipients of these gratitudes, unwarranted and unpleasant, would be ready for 1924 to "SAY IT WITH OUR QUEENS."

RECENT ELECTION RETURNS PUT REPUBLICANS ON THE DEFENSIVE; COLORED VOTER BIG 1924 ISSUE
Now, the crisis is at hand; and there must be a solution, and there must be a solution, and the eloquent request for the table just prior to the final voting in the convention, wilt, from the four corners of the nation with big achievements, unless some other solution is found.
KEYSTONE STATE CHIEF CITIES PRESENT STRIKING CONTRASTS; BLACK AMERICANS DOING WELL
Harrisburg, Pa.—Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are rivals. So are Cleveland and Detroit; New York and Chicago; St. Louis and Kansas City; Columbus and Indianapolis. But Pittsburg and Philadelphia are different. Pittsburg, in the extreme Western end of the Keystone state, has built its great power on industrial progress; as Ajax defied the lightning, the makers of Pittsburg defied the eternal hills and built a city, if not on seven hills, as Rome, certainly from its throne of beauty the world of iron. Philadelphia, cradle of liberty, home of Independence Hall and Benjamin Franklin, thrives as much on past glories as on present achievements.
Philadelphia, old and young, point with pride to the historic landmarks, and tell with eloquence about their family connections. Pittburgers, as in most big Western cities, shed no tears when the march of progress necessitates the razing of some big building that has been more or less an important feature in the community's growth. Philadelphia, filled with the sentiment of memories,坠dom destroy, and when they do, there is "much weeping and gnashing of teeth." Pittsburg is material-spiritual; Philadelphia is spiritual-material.
In the midst of all of the developments in both cities, colored America has had an important part in the great steel companies opened the "door of opportunity" to the colored industrial worker considerably more than a quarter of a century ago; it was done on aAMPLE. Philadelphia has almost once more on the path of a good one, more thousands are employed there and environs today than ever before. They have made good with emphasis, and are fixed quantities; they are good citizens who have the right to call for division, but without a阻力 in the midst of peace and plenty.
Philadelphia was the birthplace of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, under Richard Allen, who organized it in a blacksmith shop, on the grounds of the memorial church structure. Philadelphia, the city of "Brotherly Love," has been ever strong in family ties. Migisten Reaches Both. Migration, in terms of big thoug

In the first place, the Harding republican administration got away with a disproportionate start. The high hopes, the disproportionate start, and the release of Utopia were practically all disqualified by the hand of time.

The Church-Johnson-Howard-Cohen combination held an "executive session" immediately following the inauguration, and actually picked out various individuals for scores of anticipated places. The presidents, Adams, senators, congressmen and others were visited with the hope of bringing these things to pass.
For a long time, the only thing that was brought to pass was the "back door" to the Senate, to be answered to another until finally a showdown was forced on Henry Lincoln Johnson's account as recorder. This showdown left the irreproachable Johnson, who was made to William C. Matthws for the recorder job, and the president, and was made to William C. Matthws for the president, and frankly admitted to all, that he intended to appoint a West Virginia, and it was Arthur G. "And some fell upon good ground"
The Sower, in the parable, cast his seed to the winds of heaven.
That which landed among the stones, the thorns and in the barren places, perished.
Only the seeds which reached the good ground had a chance to grow.
The modern advertiser does not strew his seed of salesmanship to the winds.
He plants it carefully in the "good ground"—in the places where because of favorable conditions it has a chance to bear a harvest of consumer results.
He uses newspaper advertising because the newspaper has completely the markets which he knows, upon careful investigation, to be right places for his product to flourish.

What a beautiful and imposing sight. What a father and son, and a sage side by side. But he was a sage delivered for the occasion by the princely minister of the hospice. But to me it was heart-penetrating; for more and more it diritter before my father, and I was by the bedside of my beloved father and saw him breathe his last. LESSON FOR NOVEMBER 18
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST A MISSIONARY
LESSON TENNIS Matt. 9:33-38; Luke 8:12; John 10:18.
GOLDEN TEXT - "God so loved the world, that he gave his only继承权, that he should not perish, but he everlasting PRIMARY TOPIC - Jesus Preaching in the CURIOUS TOPIC - Jesus a Missionary, INTERMEDIATE AND SENOR TOPIC - The Missionary Activity of Jesus INTERMEDIATE AND SENOR TOPIC - Christ's Missionary Zeal
1. The Missionary Motive (Matt. 9:38-38.
2. Jesus saw the multitude His compassion was aroused. Their pitilid condition moved Him to take steps to provide missionaries. The result of this was the sending forth of the missionaries. 1. Shepherders Sheep (v. 30).
3. The people were in need of a protector, provider and guide, just as sheep are in need of shelter, comfort, scared-dressed, cast down and hopeless. What a picture of the nearly world today! The picture of the hungry world today! The picture of the satisfied. They know not which way to turn in their confusion and perplexity. They are in need of that which alone the Good Sheep can
2. Grain Ready for Harvest (v. 37).
He (old the disciples that the grain
was harvested) that uncles labors were secured the
harvest would be lost. This is still a
picture of the world. The labors are
ready to be gathered. No wonder
He was moved with compassion:
Those who have eyes to see and hearts
to hear are the ones who will be
gathered to the world ready to be
gathered into Christ's fold but no one
to perform the labor. The means for
prayer are the words of prayer.
He urged the disciples to pray that the Lord would send forth labors.
3. Classes of Misses of Lakes (kis 81-3).
Three classes are here enumerated:
1. Jesus Himself (v. 1). He is the
giver of the example and power from
Him. He left all and gave all in this
great enterprise.
2. Jesus Himself (v. 1), Christ called
them and sent them forth. They were
his representatives and were cloaked
with His power. Missionaries should
be sent to the world to help the Lord
lord Him. In the evangelization of
the world there will always be need of
them and women devoted exclusively to that.
3. Certain Women (v. 2, B, 3). H. II. The Missionary women their part in preaching the gospel by ministering to the workers. All who have experience in the saving grace of Jesus will be sent to the gospel to others that they too might be saved. The church is greatly to the work of consecrated women. H. II. The Missionary Message (John 3:13).
4. This provision is made by the love of God and is freely offered to everyone who believes. For God loved the world, that he gave His life to Jesus Christ. In life, he lest in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
God's way of forgiving is in through and hearty—to both forgive and to forget; and if thine be not so, then hast no pledge of life—Leighton.

STAGE PLAY MAKES
picture-goers who are looking for something different should not fall to visit the Lincoln Theater, where Preston Broken Wine, one of the most successful Broadway plays of recent years, is on vier Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The original stage piece by Preston Broken Wine was obviously contained all the elements necessary to good "picture stuff" but its producers have done what too few producers do—the they have made the most of every situation the manuscript was created for, including with every foot a bruit, a laugh or a tear.
