Washington, D. C. The republican party of the nation, expressing itself through the republican national committee assembled here, has gone on record favoring a basic principle of justice in representation at the republican national convention to be held in Cleveland, Ohio, next June.
The republicans acted only after long and serious consideration in reversing completely a resolution adopted two years ago at a session of the committee in Washington presided over by Will H. Hays, then national chairman. The committee acted then over the protests of colored America; it acted this time "because it is right and just," to use the words of National Committeeman Kealing of Indiana; but as a matter of fact, "because it is a serious question," to use the words of National Committeeman Hynica of Ohio. Results in elections since 1821, and in the light of practical experience according to Senator Pepper of Pennsylvania, prove that a mistake was made.
The victory of the restoration of rep is another law of equity, just as anresentation came as a big surprise to many people, even those who favored it. The victory of the restoration of rep comes when who comes at the bar of equity, men come with clean hands."
Vote Following Day.
The vice president took place on the second day of the following session, in an examination in saying "too hard to be done," and at times acrimonious, debate by members of the national committee, and at they were told it but it is too late to do anything now.*
Undercurrent at Work.
But there was an undercurrent at work. The force of this undercurrent was the result of the national committee meeting. A host of representative colored men and women, not only from the South but also from the North, Washington to place their grievances directly before the highest tribunal of the matter was first taken before the subcommittee, of which Senator Robertson fought to reduce Southern repression. Senator Hovell has been by his own admission more than twenty years fighting to reduce Southern repression. He has been a United States senator from Nebraska and the national committee from Kansas in 1912 and has been one of the seven senators opposing the organization of

Vote Following Day.
The vote look place on the second day of the session following an exclamation, debate by members of the national committee. A motion was offered by the southeastern Haitian Hill of 1921. This was passed, a resolution was issued by Senator Pepper of Pennsylvania to the record of 1920, and giving an additional three votes to all the states that gave their votes to Senator Pepper of New York in In leading the fight for his resolution, Senator Pepper proved himself a statesman and a master of wisdom and leadership. Senator Pepper of New Mexico plied him with questions which Senator Pepper asked and dignity that the opponents looked every bit like the proverbial "sandwich man." Finally called for the vote, following an effort of Senator Borson, which to send the resolution to committee, to send the resolution to Mr. Adams, and Mr. Adams amulet defending appaice of members of the committee, clared the resolution passed. Later Senator Borson went on to backstep, to be taken before the naming of splitting the party in 1928. Practical political leaders, however, regard it as the wisest move that the senate could admit of the political importance of it North as well as South, and a close of the mooring of human justice.

Aativity
(By FATHER W. P. STARLEY, Vicar of St Cloments P. L. Church)
And there were shepherds in the mass abbey, in the field, and keep watch by night over their flock. And an angel of the Lord came round about them; and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, he not afraid, for a young man came up of great joy which shall be to you, and gave to people, for the day this in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Savior, a multitude of the holy host, we shall find a babe wrapped in waddling clothes, and lying in a manger, suddenly there was with him a child, praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men, in whom he is well pleased.
It is in the showers, any idyll to千童 Luke writes of the m Savior Jesus Christ.
Notwithstanding the intervened between dramatic sense of St and the account ever bing!

To those who have Christmas, comes no physical degradation, the world can not go away.
"Glory to God in the peace among men, in ed!"
It is in the above words "more exquisite than any idyl to Christian Ears," that St Luke writes of the nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Notwithstanding the centuries which have intervened between the first writing, the dramatic sense of St Luke is still thrilling the account ever increasingly soul-thrilling!
But infinitely more happy is that individual who, while feeling the dramatic appeal patterns his life after the life which the Christ-child came to bring.
He is still deceiving each other, though presented in radio and public. Society is yet safe for the caste system based upon color, though calling it a sociac necessity; society is still unsafe for the genius practice of universal brotherhood of man though perfunctory preached from pulpits and provided by radio and public. There can not be, there never will be peace on earth until God is pleased with men.
To some, Christmas is a feast of Bacchus to others, a festivity of Epicurus; to a few it is a festival of humility and spiritual retreat. Christmas is not primarily an opportunity to exchange gifts, with the usual culinary of subsequent financial embarrassment but a season of yielding our hearts, minds souls and strength to Him, who came that our thraldom from sin might cease and an abundant life in spiritual freedom might begin.
To those who have this conception of Christmas, comes not mental fatigue, no physical degradation, but that peace which the world can not give and can not take away.

DR. CROSSLAND GOES TO. VETS' HOSPITAL AT TUSKEGEE, ALA.
(By the Associated Negro Press.)
Washington, D. C.-Conditions at the hospital are equal to that at Tukegee Institute are not perfect yet, by any means, according to direct information. Tukegee Institute is an accredited Negro Press from both official and unofficial sources, but there is a serious effort being made to hospitalize the program satisfactorily.
Directress informed the A. N. P. that the government is watching closely the state of affairs at the hospital, here have served the doctors and the maries of the employees of the hospital not being the same as that for the hospital, here have served the doctors. This matter is being investigated. An agency, on information gathered at the White House, that the administration favors giving the hospital a fair trial at Tukegee Institute is usually that there can be no permanent and satisfactory adjustment, then the hospital is neatly located at the hospital in Tukegee.

Philadelphia, Pa. The aftermath of the great Lincoln-Howard football game, which produced considerable criticism on the management of the friend of the game that the whole matter may lead to a scandal that will be detrimental to the big annual event that has become wide闻名 in interstate.
Among the criticisms are the facts that the manager, Dr. W. G. McCormick, has a huge interest in canvassing tickets on sale in Philadelphia, on sale just a short time before the game, but a huge interest can be gained from him. Philadelphia, a Lincolnite. There are not enough policies nor a sufficient enforcement of the laws. Evidently, from the official figures, in free, many thousand who had had tickets crushed through the gates without the tickets being taken. There was not enough money to hold a game, actually puzzel on the final score.
To the Associated Negro Press Dr. Eleanor McCormick, the game is under official control, what that we should like to have directly understood—that the manager of the game is under official control, we all regret that there is any need for criticism and we assure the public that we will be on guard next year.
Dr. T. M. Shadowens, wife and son, T. M. Jr., will leave Sunday for Nash, to spend the holidays with Mr. Shadowens, who will visit Cleveland, Ohio, while ahead. They plan to return to Houston after the holidays.

CHICAGOANS BENT WONDERFUL SINGING
Edward Moore, writer in the Chicago Tribune, asserts: "He needs apology from any point of view. He needs spendled German and Preach, and English that can be understood anywhere in the world."
Genni Dillard Gunn, music critic of the Chicago Herald-Examiner, hasasted from Galli-Curti and the Chicago Courtyard there, and co-collected, "It is termed 'the real article' wanting of the singers," noted the many loyal coloratura and and colored. "It safe to say that when he sings again he will be heard by a gathering more beauty, representative of the city musical public."
Mr. Gunn continues: "The voice nature gave him he has improved by study under the world best chanters and by contact with the most critical acts of exquisite beauty. In John McCormick sings them again he do not expect to hear finer interpenchance of such examples of chantic compositions: 'Would You Gain the Tender Creature?' or Handel or Bach's 'Bist dee bet mir.'"

COOLIDGE'S MESSAGE FAILED TO PLEASE SEVERAL RACE LEADERS; BLACK CABINET HIGHLY ELATED
Chicago, Ill.—Leaders of Negro thought, who have been communicated with since the reading of the presidential message in the early part of the week, are frankly puzzled by that part of the message which referred to the Negro. There is now, more pronounced than ever, the feeling that something more advanced than was suggested by President Coolidge has got to be done with the so-called "problem."
There is a disposition on the part of many to give Mr. Coolidge credit for the courage to say the same things that other presidents have said without considerable effort to suggest anything new.
It is significant that, placed as the paragraphs on the Negro in the message, following those on prohibition and the necessity of law enforcement, there is nothing said about a stricter enforcement of the laws relative to the treatment to be accorded the Negro. There is the same attitude of "the Negro is a part of America's citizenry. He should be treated all right. The crime is not something, probably a creation of the laws to study the forms of misuse of the 12,000,000 are subjected. Of course, much in the improvement of race relations will depend upon the local conditions and the improvement of understanding. METHODIST WOMEN OF 4 STATES HOLD GOOD-WILL MEETING
The Social Service Institute for the Southwest, conducted in First Church, Dallas, Texas, recently, under the auspices of the Women's Missionary Council, was well attended and most successful. Among the subjects presented were "Interracial Relations," "Mentorship," "menthus," "Education and Race Relations," and "Method of Interracial Relations." The conference convoicing address on "The Power of Christian Principles to Overcome Race Antagonism and Subdue Good
One of the most effective features of the institute is the participation of two colored women of character and achievement, Mrs. Porter Harbert, intelligent, cultured, unassuming, manifesting the finest service to their race, these women gave to many of the delegates a new sense of beauty and of a deeper sympathy with its upward struggle under heavy handholding and so also to address the miniature institute of Southern Methodist University and make a fine impression on faculty.
Mrs. Luke Johnson, chairman of the General Commission and director of Woman's Work of the General Commission on Inter- and Intimate Relations and had charge of the program.

On the afternoon of 24 April 1921, Robak Hayden, the greatest tenor of Negro music,
