If the attack had been made to the aid of the Army should be placed elsewhere than in this division when the First Army in 1938, there might have been some reason to reproach the colored recruits, but in the November offensives the NEGro soldiers on poor leadership there was plenty of time to reorganize the entire outfit. President Coolidge's letter, which was read at a mass meeting of the conference Wednesday, expresses his "strong conviction that this organization has had an important part in bringing about the manifest advancement in the for-mentioned field, which has taken place in recent years." JONES APPOINTED ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY Washington, D. C.-Attorney Thomas L. Jones, recently nominated for the position of Chief Counsel by District Attorney Peyton C. Gordon, was confirmed Thursday by the Senate. Jones wished to arm in his defense. Jones has enjoyed a law and successful career in political and legal affairs both in the District of Columbia and Virginia. After graduating from the University of Chicago School in 1882 he became commissioner of revenue in Lumberton County, where he served for public organization in that county. Attorney Jones ran for congress from 1890 to 1900. After coming to the District of Columbia Attorney Jones immediately gained considerable prominence as a criminal lawyer. COHEN-JONES The beautiful paraguay of the Autocrat Social, Musical and Pleasure Club on St. Bernard Avenue, were filled on last Thursday evening when the officiant received a reception in honor of Mrs. Candie Cohen-Jones of Chicago, daughter of Hon. Walter L. Cohen, compilator of Mrs. Col. Roscoe Conklin Simmons, though burrying to catch a train for the occasion and in a short but much aplied talk, told the gathered crowd presence and in a short but much aplied talk, told the gathered crowd when honor was shown the deserving women of the race. He told of Mrs. Cohen-Jones' valuation and to him a memorial plaque, saying she was a most worthy representative of her distinguished women. Wm. H. White refreshments were being served Harold Bordeave, known as the human saxophone entertained with Mrs. Cohen-Jones beautifully gowned and quietly in appearance was asked to present the jacket and pencil and soap box jacket presented her with a gold pen, pencil and soap box jacket, and a gift for the club for the gift of a surmise that added to their usefulness. The jacket would cause in the future they would be a constant reminder of the most pleasant occasion. The Roe Walter's Imperial Sirenader's furnished the music for the evening and after the presentation the crowd indulged in dancing until midnight. The arrangement committee consisted of Roe Walter, Roe Walter E. Despinasse, chairman; Wm. H. Rimon, secretary; and Nelson J. Jean, secretary. Bullard was connected with the 92nd Division of the American Expeditionary Forces, and states that the colored officers under him, as well as soldiers of color, were a monumental joke, or words to him. Alabama, where a colored man has no rights that a white man is bound to respect and having been cultured and trained in the Southern University of Negropholia, graduating cum magna laude, it is not surprising to The Informer to see General Bullard vainly trying to uphold the traditions of his alma mater and section and to show that there is something after all in a list for, verily, General Bullard is certainly "shooting the bull". In the German officers often commented upon the heroism赦idity of the "black devils" (so dubbed by the boches behind hell could not stop the colored troopers), to say nothing both and other American commanders and high military officers these colored soldiers were as cowardly and inefficient as General Bullard paints them in his "bull"-sheviki syndicated articles, then why would General John J. ("Black Jack") Pershing, highest military officer in A. E. F. Durham, put prizes high for their military skill and dependent on the field battle. Another thing: If General Bullard remained as far from the lines of battle as it is reported some other officers did during the military clashes with the Germans, then the poor fellow was unable to see, not hardly with highly magnified field glasses, just as the German officer described and not as one having authority and first-hand information. From the fall of Crispus Attucks on Boston Common in 4776 to the storming of the fortress of Metz in the World War, this General Bullard is the first high American officer to ever charge the enemy in the battle of Metz and afraid to acquit himself on the battlefield as a true soldier. Despite the fact that he was a slave during the Revolutionary War, the set-to of 1812 with England and the Civil War, the Negro temporarily cast aside his chains and fetters and helped to liberate America from British oppression and to save the union from disunion. Even granting for argument's sake what General Bullard charges is true, in whole or in part, who is responsible for such conduct on the part of the colored officers and soldiers? What does General Bullard's own home state contribute to institutional, moral and military development and training of its colored troops? Does the general expect "boys" (that what he and his all his called Negro men in the South) to acquit themselves on the firing line like men? Why does Brew Ballard" and expect so much of the Negro soldiers whom it came to shooting and killing those white men (German), when right in Alabama, Bullard's home state, they will lynch a colored man or woman for daring to merely question the veracity of a white man or white woman, or for walking too near them on a sidewalk, or for driving too close to white people in the street. What youths have had access to West Point, Annapolis and the other military schools of the country, while only four combatant units in the regular army have the only openings for the colored youths of the country; save during recent years when New York and Illinois permitted the organization of the Negro youths to serve as national guardmen. H. L. MIMS, Pres. Retrieve Oil' Corp. CROSS TIMBERS TEST REPORTED IN GAS The Retrieve Oil Corporation's widow on the Sid Westheimer dairy farm and on nine miles north of Houston, and on two miles south of Houston, be road. E. F. are condemning Bullard and resenting his slurs and aspersions cast upon American Negro soldier as a combatant and commissioned officer. MRS. CATO GADDY ND MORE Mr. Cato Gaddy, one of Houston's well known and highly respected city officials, has the family residence in Chanveyville, the end coming as a sequel to a long career of most eminent informers who stated to an Informer reporter during the week that his company Really, if General Bullard were as dense and ignorant in military tactics and maneuvers as he is about the heroism, bravery and efficiency of the colored American soldier, it is small marvel that men under him would show cowardice, inefficiency and ignorance! Like priest, like people, like general, like officers and soldiers! Why this belated effort to try to discredit colored commissioned officers and soldiers in combat units in the late European martial holocaust, and that by a man who owes his life today to colossal warfare, is a matter of fact, the reverse is the case; for numerous colored fighters and entire regiments were decorated and cited for bravery and heroism under galingen fire by both France and America, and some of the most daring and heroic exploits of the war are the stories of these soldiers. It is too late now for General Bullard, General "Bull," or General "Bull-sheikil" to endeavor to dim the lustre of the colored soldier's achievements on the battlefields of Europe or to take from him any of his merited honors, which he made possible by his struggles on the shot-ridden and sanguinary battlefields and in the safety and seclusion of some general's underground tent. The Informer does not even dare to assume the position that some few colored soldiers may not have violated their oath and obligation and demonstrated that they were "yellow" under fire; they were not brave enough to carry out unanticipated units, then we are perfectly willing for General Bullard to have his little say and get all the glory and satisfaction imaginable and possible out of his "bull" story about the cowardice, incompetence and inefficiency of the Negro officer and soldier in the World and particularly those connected with his division, the 92nd Selah! plans to extend its operations into two new semi-permanent fields: the North Carolina Oil Corporation and the North section and the Guadalupe territory near Seagull, Mr. Mimu also said that the company has offices in the Odd Fellow Temple (suite 415), the Odd Fellow Temple (suite 415), and without pay; that the company declared and paid its first dividend during the year; and that the company, Mr. Mimu, "retribs Oil Corporation in the oil business and not in Wednesday evening, June 24.
