In this connection, for some reason our people do not support the home as we do in our collective; but we are of the opinion that this is largely attributable to the fact that the real function of the home is before our people sufficiently to enlist their aid and support; for our people will help us in the nature when properly presented to them. Bring a recent visit to Honest, Rev. Dickson gave the conductor, of this department a graphic account of the history of the orphanage; what he did to the children; hogs, mules, buildings and other physical equipment; but the school he attended was the school consumption; his struggles for financial support and the favorable racial sentiment this institution has to the school orders. The payment of Texas make annual contributions to the orphanage, and Rev. Dickson is enlightened and that more of our people make systematic contributions to enlighten and that more of our people make systematic contributions to enlighten and operation of this home at Glimer. "Residential Segregation Foremost National Issue" N.A.A.C.P. Address Avers
Chicago, Ill.—The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has made public the address to the American people, adopted at the 17th annual conference recently held in Chicago, where the problem of residential segregation is the foremost issue affecting race relations, denounces segregation of colored employees in the government departments in Washington, urges complete independence of party allegiance on the part of colored voters, and urges that white labor recognize the importance of interest with colored labor.

"For several years the National Association for the Advancement of College Students has been able to show white labor movement in the United States that it must recognize the rank and affirm the unity of white ranks and affirm the unity of black ranks in the great fight for industrial democracy. On the other hand, the National Association press upon Negro labor its duty to leave no stone unturned in an attempt to maintain and advance the standards for which organized labor has so long fought. We are glad to see that the National Association man porters a great step toward both these objects. We regret that while we are glad to see that the National Association lagged in taking effective steps toward organizing black labor. The national movement striving among American Negroes and Negroes the world over which is of deep significance. It is the work of men of black blood for beauty in music, in sculpture and in expression and the slave trade. As it begins to blossom again in the new generation of American Negroes it calls for every effort to make the movement glad that through the Spinning Medal, the magazine, the prices for the work of men of black blood for beauty in music, in sculpture and in expression, it has been able to do much more for the public meetings and private exhortation. It has been able to do much more for the public meetings and private exhortation. The association calls for the widest co-operation among persons and organizations to forward the movement; and above all, make possible through universal education in the schools and in wider college facilities, the development of the great talent. The development of our race. The passing of passed recessions thanking the City of Chicago or the "nine hospitality" shown the

M'GRAW HAS HAD STAR SHORTSTOPS
One Reason Given for Win ning So Many Pennants.
Dalton lasted four years under McGraw and was an important cog in a team that had played a timely hit, a corking ball player and a timely hitter, replaced Dahlen and filled the filler for a couple of seasons. Dalton had picked up Arthur Fletcher, the present manager of the Phillies, and had played for an even decade. He began to slip, and before his slipping was obvious to the world at target, McGraw had depth along with a bundle of cushion, for Dave Bancroft, one of the greatest shortstops of all time, was at the peak of his career and easily the greatest shortstop in the business league. Braver. The collective mouth of the popuped popped open and stayed the longest in the play. Jack stepped at Travis Braker. The collective mouth of the popuped popped open and stayed the longest in the play. Jack stepped at Travis Braker, then just years old. He was gone, but the Giants did not lose a stride. Jack stepped in like a veteran, fielded like a fend, and drove in a flock of men. The shortstop now is supposed to be one of the main cogs in the Giant machine. He's almost as dashing and even more athletic as the athletes of other teams call a winning ball player, which means if you stop the entire team, the chance of stopping the entire team.

Illness Blamed to Temper

Named From the Wind
The Greek word anemone, which means wind, is responsible for the name given to the anemones, which are commonly called wind flowers. This flower is the state flower of South Dakota. The name anemone was given it because it seemed to grow best in a breezy location. The wood anemone, with its delicate white blossoms, is one of the favorite spring wild flowers.

The Interior of
His Home
By DOROTHY DOUGLAS
(Copyright) JULIA met him at one of those downtown restaurants where light and jazzy are the predominant notes.
"I wonder what pleasure you get—composed him and gamed frankly into his gloomy-diluted eyes.
"Did Milla sit backed at the back of the chair, than face the girl whom he had met a half hour before and smiled a more or less patient?
"I don't know. I come, however, nearly every evening—that is when I'm not up at the Hargvarsfat. I don't know. I don't know.
"What's the matter with home?" asked Julia with her bright engaging "What is in your interior that."
Dad actually laughed.
"Chicken soul said for the moment, and it will be a cup of black coffee."
After laughing him she pursued him home interior, I mean. What color?
"I couldn't tell you. Green and Iancy. Nothing starting except that the green with brown fries all over them."
"How perfectly awful!" Julia, sensing the green with brown fries all over them.
"How perfectly awful!" Julia, sensing the green with brown fries all over them.
She recalled now the joyeous chore of the Hargvarsfat, fathi with its warm orange and yellow and Caucasian.
"It's no wonder you can't妈 home" she looked eagerly at him and try her hand at lightning up his home. She had done a fair number of houses and was gradually working up her skills. If you would let me decorate your rooms for you—just a four experiment in housekeeping" she finally asked. "I would let you decorate my own let me do your home I will do it at my own expense. It will be interesting to fain know whether or not I can make a place which a man's soul to me be in he is hard at work in the office." A home, she added with one of her sweetest amies, "should be a place which a man's soul to me be in he is hard at work in the office." If you could make me think of dashing home—during business hours she would there well, "don't, too, offered the hickest kind of smile to her, 'then any expense you are put to will be more rooms as if a hornet's nests were there'" Ifudah had her first glimpse of homes she would then admind had chosen the things within them. However, she took her courage in hand and went to the most profound indignation held sway.
First thing Julia did was to send the assorted collection of furniture to Donald. He had a shade of blue enamel and upholstered, where necessary, in fine velvet to match the copper on put in instead. She had the walls stripped of the hideous paper, and a lustrous glazed copper on put in. All the wood she used was gold. She hung softest of gold curtains at the windows and sent his fearful cushion in to two in a pump shaded of gold, and another over his work table. She scattered a few wonderful Chinese cushions about and put in two shades of gold, old fireplace and window. She had asked her in the beginning when she had turned her out to board for a room. "No one peep until it is all done," Julia had insisted. Donald's bed made all beef and cheese on the cushion. "All men red," she told herself, and was really pleased with the two dresses he had. When Donald saw his rooms for the first time he drew a long breath of admiration. In several drank years Donald had a desire to leave the office and sink up to that wonder-
It was only the beginning of Donald's more cherry outlook. He even began to have a few friends in and to around him. Donald's home atmosphere seemed to weld. The old crowd seemed to meet in Donald's home. A magnet drew them, but they hardly realized that it was the color atmosphere of home. A magnet drew them, but became a wee bit shy. Her business, too, had increased and absorbed most of her time. Donald who had become frankly questioning. He watched her with complete adoration in his eyes on one rare occasion when she graced his room with a book. Donald's rooms now" he questioned her, and when she nodded with deepened color, he asked: "And do they all fall in love?" "None of them," he said with a smile. "I tell them, I'll tell you about one who," said Donald.

Two great thought underlies the preface.
What He is is embodied in the name Jehovah-Blehim. The name Jehovah sets forth three great vrits: tat.
He does and centers himself in Himself.
2. His sovereignty. There is no be equal to Him, not alone, but every being in the universe. He is immaint and transcendent.
3. Unchangeability. The "I am that I am" (Ex. 8:14) may be ex-panded into "I am what I am," "I will be what I am," "Jesus Christ is the one who is God," (Heb. 13:8). The name Kohn similes the strong and mighty. What we bring from Egregius browns delivery.
11. The First Commandment (v. 3).
"Tous shalt have no other gods before me, and have no other gods before My face." This commandment requires single worship him has his god. It is either the true God or a false god. Life itself with all its activity is worship. The center of worship is the true God. This commandment may be broken:
"Living for one's self. If one's activities gather around himself he worships him and is therefore an idolater.
Making pleasure the goal of our lives and spending our time and money for sexual enjoyment."
(God, v. 85). Every man who is proud for gold breaks this commandment.
11. The Second Commandment (v. 3).
The first commandment is directed against false gods. The second is directed against God with false forms. This commandment may be broken;
11. By resisting to the use of crosses
The essential principle embodied in the commandment in work and rest. The bids work on the seventh. The command to work ask work is just as blind to those who have worked can really make this commandment may be broken.
1. By living in idleness.
2. By working on the day set apart for the work.
3. By marking it a day of feasting.
4. By devoting it to pleasure and enjoyment.
Trusting in God
An individual heart, which worships God alone, and trusts Him as he should, is an anxiety for earthly wants—Gelikle.
Every Sin a Mistake
Every mistake is a wrong; and the epiphatha as a sinner is: "Thou Fool."—Macricken.

HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, 1926
LOCAL G. O. P. FIGHT ASSUMES DIFFERENT ASPECT.
Prior to the recent republican primary election, held Saturday July 24, 1926, there were some citizens who held to the view that C. F. Richardson, in announcing for county chairman of the re-election committee, was unnecessarily agitating the eternal race question, and that his course was very unwise and untimely; that the colored man should subscribe to the doctrine of "white domination" rather than "white supremacy," and should, therefore, "stay in a 'nigger's place"; and should, in this county by Richardson was ill-timed and ill-fated, et cetera.
Some of these people, in their cowardice, ignorance or stupidity, meant well; but "hell is paved with good intentions," they say, "and the devil greases the roadway."
The Informer stated the line of battle long in advance of primary election, and contended that it was a fight to determine the majority right to be president in state and federal constitutions as American citizens and republican electors, or whether a small coterie of politicians and federal office holders and seekers could so manipulate partisan affairs as to deny the majority a right to aspire for any elective office within the United States. The untrammed vote for the candidate or candidates of their choice.
Nowhere in the American Magna Charta—the Declaration of Independence, the constitution of the United States, or the Emanclapon Proclamation—the only practical dissertation upon the Sermon on the Mount, is any American citizen denied any right because of his past. In fact, one amendment to the American constitution expressly stipulates that the right of the citizens of the United States to hold office or, "shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condi-
In opposing the right of republicans of color to vote in the 1926 republican primary election in Houston and Harris County, the county chairman and his hand-picked executive committee took the lead in the vote. The Republican candidates for Mrs. Miriam A. Ferguson, the democratic gubernatorial candidate, in 1924, and that they were, perforce, disqualified to cast a ballot in a republican primary election in 1928.
Despite a decision of the Fourth Court of Civil Appeals at San Antonio, the court held that such test illegal and contrary to the election laws of Texas, the republican election managers in Houston and Harris County hurled defiance in the face of this court decision, and refused to permit practically 2,000 qualified republican electors to cast a vote in said party election. In 1929, the court held that the Valdez County, the higher court at the Alamo City went thoroughly into the statutes governing primary machinery in Texas, and it is said to have prescribed, for the first time, certain phases of the primary election laws of this state. The ruling also holds party management to comply with the committee to a strict and minute observance of the Texas civil statutes and established a precedent on a number of legal points.
This appellate court also held that any test imposed upon the voter, other than the one allowed by law, is illegal, and the legal pleadings taken in a party primary election, as a practical matter, are not binding.
The action of the Harris County republican executive committee, in denying Richardson a place on the official ballot for their primary election of July 24, 1926, as a candidate for county chairman of said party, was a small matter compared with their high-ranking allies. Richardson chided and disqualifying fully 2,000 qualified republican voters in the election—merely because these so-called republican party leaders surmised (and rightly so, too) that the vast majority of these disfranchised voters were going to vote against the present pro-immigration party. If the cause possessed the aspect of an individual effort and fight prior to the primary election of July 24, 1926, this situation most assuredly assumed a different aspect on and after election day; for when American citizens are denied their elective franchise rights in direct contravention to the written statutes of the United States, they are denied the political wrath and righteous indignation and overthrow such tyrants, autocrats and imperialists, who regard and treat the written law of the land like the kaiser did the treaty asserting Belgium's neutrality and her inviolability from external aggression and invasion. With such wholesale disfranchisement of American citizens and republican electors, as perpetrated upon the colored voters in this city and county July 24, 1926, the cause becomes the people's cause; and, unless these disfranchised people are willing to lose every political right guaranteed them under the constitutions of the United States, America, they had better act and do so promptly and effectively. Redress from such willful, malicious and illegal violations of the written statutes of this state and nation, can only be obtained in a court of equity; and no red-blooded American citizen will permit a small cotelet of political designers and partisan schemers to commit such acts of violence against America, they had better act and do so promptly and effectively.
Not since the iniquitous "white man's primary" law was written in Texas, has any party attempted to pull off a political stunt that as visually and fundamentally affected the rights of our people: the right to vote. The law not only restricts the voting not only of the people as a whole, but the various organized bodies operating among our people in Houston and Texas. If these republican bosses can openly violate all the written statutes governing party primary elections in this state (as they did in 1992), the party will be to have written into the law of Texas a bill providing that
The Houston Informer
Richardson's Protest and Notice of Contest Is Filed As Per Texas Election Laws
The Informer has decided to contest, in the district court of Harris County, the recent republican primary election held in Houston and Harris County, especially the race for county chairman and precinct chairmanship in precincts 25, 30 and 48—the heavy colored polling boxes—where no election was held, and the rights as American citizens and republican constituents; hoping thereby to ascertain what rights our people yet have under the blue canopy of heaven and the state and federal constitutions as free-born, American citizens.
Able legal counsel has already been retained, and those of our people who want to enjoy the rights for which we have fought, bled and died as American citizens, are asked to subscribe to the rights of the fund. Diagram of Circuit Employed in a Center-Tapped, Coll on the Radio-Frequency Stage.

It is the purpose of the writer to well point out the application to a well-known type of relay circuit of a circuit modification long known but to 25 degrees in the regular arrangement were made to cover only or 5 degrees on the dial. This was in a location about ten miles from the nearest station, and on an antenna 100 feed line with 5500 feed-line.

This station operation on 300 meters, and on a straight line frequency on a straight line frequency condenser, but slightly above 300 meters even this station could be entirely received excellently.
This is the use of a center-tapered coax in the radio-frequency stage, the lower terminal of which is connected to one of the small midgut condensers, the opposite side of which the midgut condenser is connected to the plate terminal of the tube.
This circuit modification is probably used in certain superheterodyne circuits, where the center-tapered loop is employed in connection with

A diagram of the circuit employed is shown in Figure 2. Nearly every one possessing a set of employing the same circuit will recognize this diagram will recognize it. It has been very popular and the modifica- tions made to it perform more efficiently in an area where a great majority of sets will operate at once. This circuit is noted for its great volume and low operating up- time, but in its original form it was not

Then again we see circuit diagrams showing the same circuit as the sequential quency circuit, where it is described as "the Rice method of negotiation." Cute Out "Blinket" Stations. A diagram of this circuit modification is shown in Figure 1. Whatever its action, the point is that it executes a most beneficial influence upon the circuit.
The midget condenser should be located on the panel, since it provides an excellent volume control. It is also used in very recent issues of various radio magazines that this method of condensation is being quite frequently advocated.
In the circuit set up by the writer, selectivity was very greatly increased, local stations which covered from 15
When the Tubes May Be
Cause of Your Trouble
When you notice that your radio set is
faded, you should fade it, tones
fade off and disappear, and the
quality sounds like a rock crusher,
or a shaker.
The action of the grid leak seems to be little understood by the averaged user. It happens when in writing up the set and in buying the best of parts. Yet when the receiver is put into operation the grid leak is often the whole trouble lies in the grid leak, which may not be the correct value or may be not in operation.
Very likely you look for poor corrosion or brittle cracks in batteries, which simply replaces them. A "D" battery and jungle around, add a "D" battery and jungle around, that the quality remains as poor as the original.
To make the action of the grid heat clear we will compare it to the carburator. The grid is heated by the carburator vaporises or breaks up the gasoline, then mixes it with a certain proportion of air to form an explosive mixture. The carburator is regulated by a choke valve. The carburator of a radio receiver is the detector tube and the carburator of a gasoline tank.
Under such perplexing circumstances did you ever give the tubes a chance to dry out? Gradual deterioration of their elements ultimately results in poor reception. The element of a tube may be surface to surface or aid emission of electrons—those tiny particles which give the tube its capacity. When the coating vanishes the radio set loses its sensitivity and volume. It is then time to buy new tubes.
If the choke valve on the carburator is closed too much, it does not allow air to flow. It is important to mixture rich with the result that the motor chokes up or may stop alternately. It is also the value that it allows too high a negative charge to accumulate on the grid the tube chokes or parallels and the valve does not allow air to flow poorly. This is the same effect as when the choke valve on the carburator is closed too far and does not allow air to flow.
When Buying Your "B"
It is important when buying a "B" battery eliminator to determine whether or not the device is capable of current to operate the set. For that purpose the eliminator will result. To test the capacity of a "B" battery eliminator the device must be connected to it is to be used and connect a high-resistance voltometer across its terminals. The voltmeter is inserted in the pointer of the voltmeter remains almost stationary at a voltage which is sufficient to properly operate the set, the device will prove satisfactory.
If, on the other hand, the grid leak is of such a value that the negative value of the grid leak is greater than the recovery loses its sensitivity. You can readily see, therefore, that it is important that the size of the grid leak be less than the size of the energy the grid can handle is always just right. Use a good-quality grid leak. If the grid leak is large, clamp it and try them out until you find that one gives the best results. Do not use a cheap, grid leak or one made by an unknown manufacturer, for often a poor grid leak is the unexpected result.
