WELCOME, TEXAS BAPSTISTS!
Holding over to the faith "once delivered unto the saints" believing in baptism, and (and that by immersion) accepting the biblical version of the baptism, (and that by immersion) delivering the birth of Jesus Christ; ever sawing and challenging those who seek to be besides the other books of mere man; standing like the Rock of Gibraltar in Revelation, and the fundamental tenets, doctrines and principles of Baptism Missionary and Educational Convention of Texas is holding its Baptism Church this week.
Led by Rev. A. L. S. Cohn, pastor of Baptism Church of Fort Worth, who succeeded Dr. L. K. Williams, now of Chicago, as pastor of the Baptism Convention, the Baptism force have invaded Houston for their work, denouncing information and denomination's inspiration, and to link their force to the Master here below.
From all points in Texas, and representing as they do the Baptist family of our great community, and an honor to extend a word of welcome to these visitors within our city, and that they are so enlarging, temporarily, in the fastest growing city in the country, the principal part of Texas, with all other cities and towns as more suburban. We are sure we will we extend to you this coral welcome to this fair and promising city making our community a city of unity, municipality affords.
We hope that your work will be brought with much constructive work, and that nothing will transgress the convention of Texas.
Since it is decreed that all human beings must go so some place begin, we must go so some place begin or the world to come, and since some people will be for them, to be sure not to miss one of the "Kiw" "Heavenly Mountains" hands welcome all visitors to our hands and builting city of you have paid your fare and have your ticket in hand. We have pleased you to extend our glad journalistic hand and say, "Welcome,

**Government Was in Luck**
When the whites and Indians signed their first treaty in Minnesota, at found Duluth, 300 years ago, the Chippewa gave the white man the right to hunt the animals, minerals found in what is now Minnesota, and head mining country. The white had their eyes on the splendid copper preserver in Duluth, joining country contained the world's greatest iron ore deposits. Hopes of discovering copper in sizable quantities half a century earlier that intrepid prospectors uncovered the first vein of iron. The provision in the treaty of 1807 was the first government the right to the iron was made at a time, says W. E. Cultin, planner and historian, in the Duluth mine, no real knowledge of that metal.
Italian Lake Drained
The lake at Furcho, in central Italy, has no outlet and was constantly overloading. The Roman emperor Claudius partly drained it, but the draining was made complete by Prince Torlonia beginning in 1832.
MARSHAL'S
Ancient Hymns Discovered
Tests that were sung to music are
the earliest of the many instruments
in the rulers of Ur, where the palaces
and temples of Nebuchadnezzar, king
of the Ancient Egypt, aided in the
dwellings were discovered, dating from
the portion of the Larsa king, about
500 B.C., in the ruins of a dwell-
ing house in burial brick. There was found
against the wall of the room a colo-
nial altar, which had obviously been stored in a jar, whose fragments lay with them. They
preserved and bore religious texts and
hymns in honor of the moon god, writ-
ten in ancient Hebrew. Larsa, twenty-one centuries before Christ. "These are the most important
brought to light—Musical America.
The Vital Spark
Are not the poets themselves to blame that poetry is not more widely read? Beautiful wandering almessome poems are not the impatient, impudent, personal, blaming-a-genuine poetic mood? Are beautifully trimmed and hedged gardens the best inspiration for positing human nature? Are climbers the best laboratories for poeting human nature? And yet an incomprehensible leaf in the air may be a poetic poem. Are the poet it is vital and important—Marie Labra, in Poetry.
Teutonic Race
The Textonic peoples comprise those populations of Europe speaking the Textonic languages and include the Greeks, the Romans, the Greeks, the German-speaking people in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland, the Romans, the Greeks, the Scandinavians of Sweden and Norway, and practically the inhabitants of Holland and Denmark. Outside of these, more than a million above-mounted countries that have embigrated to Africa, America, Australias, etc.
Usually Wished On Them
Rhaeanism, says an authority, is not a necessary evil. He may know that the people of Europe have of anyone having rhaeanism from choice—Buffalo Express.

Black Bear Amusing
One of the most popular of our wild animals, the black bear, is amusing, adorable and often relicious. The American black bear ranges over the great part of wooded North America from the canadian borders of our southern states to the farthest borders of the evergreen forests of Canada—Nature Magazine.

"And some fell upon good ground"
The Sower, in the parable, cast his seed to the winds of heaven.
That which landed among the stones, the thorns and in the barren places, perished.
Only the seeds which reached the good ground had a chance to grow.
The modern advertiser does not strew his seed of salesmanship to the winds.
He plants it carefully in the "good ground"—in the places where because of favorable conditions it has a chance to bear a harvest of consumer results.
He uses newspaper advertising because through the newspapers he covers completely the markets which he knows, upon careful investigation to be right places for his product to flourish.

YOUNG PROFILE AND ADULT TOPIC-Moses Lessons from the Life of Moses.
1. Moses Views the Promised Land from Mount Plegagh (v. 3-4).
At the Lord's bidding Moses seconded the mountains from which he got a mountain to the land, but though he knew that he was to die there (Dust, S2:30). He greatly desired to go into the land (Dust, S2:30). Of the Lord. Though he was not permitted to enter the land, God gave him a mountain to the land which was to be the inheritance of the people which he had delivered and led for forty years. The reason for this was that Moses' entrance into the land was Moses' failure to annotate the Lord of Moriah (Dust, S2:30). So too glaring a sin for the Lord to pass over, though Moses had served him faithfully for many years. He survived the Burial of Moses (v 59). He died (v 8). He did not die in the vile man-of-mach, his work was done. He did not die before his time. God put him into the world for a purpose, and as soon as he was gone he returned home. Though Moses was a great man he was not exempt from death. God buried him. Most likely this service was performed by the angels. Likely this is the time and circumstance Michael, the archangel, over the body of Moses (Jude 9). The time of mourning for Moses (v 8).
They mourned for thirty days. It is not wrong to lay away earthly friends who should not mourn as those who have no hope. Indeed, it is much better to hold them in your arms, our friends by showing the proper courtesy and respect while they are alive, than to mourn over them when they are dead. (II. The Successor of Moses (v. 9), Joshua who had been the minister of the wilderness journey, now became the military leader of the Israelites. That military leader of the Israelites is seen.)
1. By the fact that he was full of the spirit of wisdom. While he was not dependent upon human wisdom, He does select as his Representatives men whom he has chosen. 2. He was divinely ordained for the work at the hand of Moses, "for Moses had his hands upon him." 3. He was divinely ordained for the command of God (Num. 27.18-21). 3. The people owned him as their leader, and he untended him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses. 4. He was successful leadership as a rule, that the individual affection and allegiance of the people. (IV. Encoumium Upon Moses (v. 10)).
In this eulogy Moses is given a place at the head of the Old Testament and the greatest Protestant (Deut. 18:15-18), of whom Moses was a type, he stands as the greatest prophet of Israel. He is likened with God (v. 19), "whom the Lord knew face to face." 2. He was great in that he gave to the world a code laws unequaled in the Bible. 3. He was great as a general in that he liberated the Israelite nation from the oppression of the greatest enemy. 4. He was great because he led two or three million Israelites through the desert. 5. He was great because he gave us in the book of Deuteronomy three occasions which, according to the Judge, are a type of the head of the world's literature.

To pass additional legislation against the mobbists and then permit this legislation to become weak and inept through disuse on one hand and moral cowardice and racial prejudice on the other, will merely tend to weaken and undermine the foundations on which the superstructures of our reputed democratic form of government are based, more of a mockery and laughing stock than at the present time.

It seems rather strange that the sheriffs in both South Carolina and Tennessee were overpowered by a mob (which one officer stated was "very orderly"—a rather conflicting statement), and yet not one loosy lynchocrat was wounded by any fire from the peace officer's trusted "gat," which some of these officers can pull and dexterity to shoot some vicious and "bad" criminal! Conditions are terribly rotten and offensive in numerous Southern communities, and, while some little progress has been made in bringing about interracial amity and good will, Judge Lynch still has his grip upon entirely too many members of the reigning and ruling race; for where people have all the wheels of machinery in their hand, to manipulate at will and manufacture all species of weapons, they must resort to illegal lynch law, particularly when they can invoke legalized lynch law whenever and wherever they please or will.

It does not require much "superiority," "supremacy" or bravery for a crowd of "hellocritical" hoodlums to grab an unarmed prisoner, spirit him away from prison, order him to run and fill him with shots in his back.
Going a bit further, when any race or civilization resorts to nongiving women (it matters not how low the woman has sunk in the water), the victim has reached the lowest depths of human depravity and hellish. Hunan atrocity, and is about ready for the discard and oblivion.

COLORED ELKS PUTTING OVER REAL PROGRAM
HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1926
In awarding scholarships to youthful members of the colored race in various sections of the country, the Improved, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World, of which Editor J. Finley Wilson of Washington, D. C., is grand exalted ruler, and Judge William C. Hueston of Gary, Ind, commissioner of education, this national organization is performing a far-reaching service, and is informing the world that it stands for the highest educational and cultural development of the race that is possible to be attained by our young people in our several institutions of higher learning.
Aside from her duties at Mt. Corrittin
Mrs. McRae will also give music lessons to a limited number of pupils and spend more time looking after her.
DIXIE LYNCHOCRATS ON PERENNIAL RAMPAGE!
In America—the reputed land of the free and home of the brave; the great Christian republic which felt itself divinely ordained to save the world for democracy and to obliterate Humhii cultur from the face of both oriental and occidental civilization—we have open and closed season on everything excepting the American Negro.
Prof. a. driefruger paid his apouse the following compliment: "Her care for me has been excellent. My co-operation and helpfulness in all my endearments, have been beyond value. Without the help she has rendered me success, my would have had been
At certain seasons of the year in this country, if a person kills certain birds and other game of the forest, he is subject to arrest and punishment (and many have been arrested and fined for killing game out of season); but the killing and lynching of American Negroes continue with painful regularity and the authorities do not put forth as much effort to apprehend and punish the lousy lynchocrats and murderous anarchists as they do to bring some hunter to justice for killing game during the closed season.
In view of what some local lodges of this order do or fail to do, some persons have gleaned the idea that the Elks are only concerned in "good times" and "fast life," and that the order is indeed "in love with the Elks," money nor time to the worthwhile and permanent lifes of life.
Y. M. C. A. NOTES.
Not only has the national organization already rendered financial assistance to about 30 young people, but it also plans a nationwide oratorial contest among Negro boys and girls in high schools, with the goal of raising the national contest, and $250 to be awarded the sectional winners.
Why not pass a federal law to legalize lynching of American Negroes during certain months in the year, and thereby give the black citizens of this republic the same kind and calibre of protection accorded the birds of the air and animals of the forest's
In order to revive interest in the American constitution, and most especially the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments thereto, the Elks commissioner of education has designated as a subject for review the constitution in the spring of 1927, "The Constitution of the United States."
The recent mobocratic orgy in South Carolina, which treated three American Negroes (including one woman) to the famous and celebrated American pastime, makes the Palmetto State a runner-up to Florida for the 1926 championship of the Lynching League of America, Incorporated. (Now watch "ole Mississippi!" take on a spurt to outdo both South Carolina and Florida!)
The Informer congratulates the Elks of the nation for what has been done already by them towards Negro education, inspiration and information, and hopes that their future plans along this and other lines will bear much fruit for the good of the race and success. In connection with the spring oratorical contest in high schools, which will be an elimination affair to select orators for sectional contest, where the best speaker will be chosen to represent said section in the national contest, this paper hopes that Houston Texas cities, particularly where there are Elk lodges, will join hands in this undertaking and help to make it a staggering success.
Not to be outdone nor denied a berth in the mobocratic loop for 1926, Tennessee had to stage a lynching fest during last week, thereby qualifying for a franchise in Judge Lynch's circuit; and thus the fight for titular honors in this damnable and diabolical organization goes merrily a-pace, while the maddened and frenzied devotees, adherents and supporters yell themselves hoarse as they cheer their favorite club on to victory and the coveted gon-falon!
COTTON FARMERS FACING SERIOUS CRISIS
Due to the bumper cotton crop of 1926, which seems to have surpassed even the estimate and expectations of governmental experts and authorities, the cotton farmers are facing a financial crisis—the supply of the fleece staple being greater than the demand.
In neither the South Carolina nor Tennessee lynching bee was the "usual crime" assigned as the cause for this return to savagery and barbarian on the part of the "superior race!" (If such stunts as these pulled off by the white lynchers and anarchists demonized "superiority complex," then may God have mercy and pity upon the race obsessed and burdened with an "inferiority complex")
Tuskeguee Belle New Hair Dressing
—HERRBERT'S DRUG STORR.
Y. W. C. A. NOTES.
According to an economic law, whenever production exceeds capacity, the price will rise, and the demand will decrease than the market needs), the price for said commodity declines, and thus a panicky situation is precipitated among those engaged in said line of production, as well as those who have advanced the demand.
The annual baby contest is creating quite a bit of enthusiasm among moms, and the annual baby contest takes place November 24, inclusive of a visit by the parents and a visitor this week. Girl Reservoir clubs are being organized the week before the event, and Gregory have started their programs for the year. Thursday, October 16, at 10 a.m., the program is urged that our people attend in large numbers to participate in the preciate the fine arts. The Cosmopolitan Club welcomed the new member to the club.
Heretofore, most advocates and supporters of lynching have contended that any Negro who commits or attempts to commit criminal outrage upon a white woman, girl or child, should be handed summarily by a howling and hungry mob of hoodlums; but just ask these same rabid mobsters and "hellcrats" what punishment should be meted out to a white man that commits an attack upon a colored woman, girl or child, and they (the Negro) should be sent to prison —proving that they favor mob-law not because of the alleged crime perpetrated, but rather because of the color of the defendant and complainant.
As has been repeatedly said in newspapers, from platforms and in farmers' congresses, the farmers of the South depend too much upon a one-crop product, and when they have a bad year, either from underproduction or overproduction, the logic of this argument is brought directly home to them; but the next year finds farmers devoting most of their acreage, time and money to cotton.
There has been much talk of a federal law to curb the lynching evil and to eventually eradicate it from the confines of our national government; BUT NO AMOUNT OF ANTILYLNCHING LEGISLATION WILL BLOT OUT MOB VIOLENCE AS LONG THERE IS A DOUBLE STANDARD OF CITIZENSHIP IN THIS COUNTRY, particularly the South, for American citizens—ONE FOR WHITE CITIZENS AND ANOTHER FOR COLORED PEOPLE.
If more acreage were devoted to other farm products, which generally find a ready market and neat profits, the farmers would not be so hard hit when such situations arise as the one that confronts them today.
MT. CORINTH BAPTIST
REV. A. HUBBARD, Pastor.
With one of the best cotton crops in the history of the South, and, in many instances, with no one even to pick the cotton from the bolls, the price has fallen to such low levels that to sell at the prevailing price will mean huge losses for the farmers—virtual loss and will place many banks in a precarious condition because of the high interest rates that liquidate the naper held against them at these financial institutions.
As long as American Negroes have no rights that other races are bound to respect; as long as American Negroes are denied and refused their inalienable and constitutional rights and prerogatives; as long as American Negroes are disfranchised, jim-crowed, segregated, politically outlawed, otherwise maltreated and accorded a rough, rotten and raw deal, the hydra-headed monster, Judge Roberts, has been accused of these unfortunate and defenseless people—whose chief crime is to the color of their skin and texture of their hair!
A national conference has been called to discuss and adopt means to save the situation and relieve the cotton planters from this serious predicament, and it is hoped that much good will come from it. The information is of the opinion that a diversified crop will serve as safety valve to the farmers hereafter. Water and fire are necessities, just as cotton is, but too much of anything makes for disaster and trouble; for the law of supply and demand will even the cotton yield, as well as other products and commodities.
As far as laws are concerned, there are ample laws on the statutes of the national and state governments now to curb the persecution of the poor.
