BALARY INCREASES DEFEATED.
If the city officials will learn a lesson from this negative vote and ask for a change of looking after the interests of all the people, the voters will be in a better position in salaries when the propositions are again submitted to the electorate of the city.
"SAME OLD STUFF!"
As was to be expected, the triple lynching at Alken, South Carolina, a protest to sweep that state and the South, the daily call to the state and the South, the barricade and the barricade stunt in no uncertain terms. More murders in unjustified that such a dark blot on the record of their death is not to be rebalanced and that the murders of the murderers will suffice the state and society.
There are more murders, for under some circumstances the mob book of our democratic institutions and ideals, and, being an early process of law enforcement, the mobobars and "hallows" book of our democratic institutions and ideals, and democracy can not prevail in juxta-position in any form of civilized government.
In fact there can be no stable government, even when anarchy (mob violence), and, unless an international confession of the hydra-benefit neither the life, property nor person of any American citizen will be safe from the hoodwidows hoodwidows the mobs that engage in this celebrated battle abandons and accuses, and acquiesces in the assault to uphold the law and defend prisoners in their custody. Just like a mighty stream on a periodic flooding and flooded river, the damage both to man, beast, forest and vegetation, so will the ramifications upon American citizens without regard to class, creed or color, unless they are lawfully lauwed by an enlightened public authority.
Mobocracy obtains in this country because those in authority have not been arrested against this great villain, and those in jurisdiction are perpetrated upon members of the community. (Continued on Editorial Page.)

President Courageous Leader.
Realizing that in no instance do buildings and equipment make an imminent threat to the faculty, from the beginning, the trustees have endeavored to secure the best trained men available. No apportionment of faculty positions clearly than the selection of the president to succeed Dr. Hubbard. To find the best qualified faculty members, who possessed executive ability as well as educational qualification, who possessed executive training, Mulloway, who was selected, met all of these requirements and in ad hoc training, the faculty treated whole-hardened in the work and the progress thereof. He is sure that the faculty will be interested, including Dr. W. S. Quinland, Dr. F. A. Stewart, Dr. J. A. McMullen, Dr. C. V. Roman, and Dr. Naylor.

The American people are so used to lynching news that they are in danger of intoxication at an angle and in difference that will cause them to fall the full meaning of a horror like that reported from Alken, S. due to the lack of funds this high rating, that has inspired Negroes in the city to seek a new leadership. It is now threatened. There is an urgent need of a half million dollars to be added to the endowment fund and a new equipment in order to meet the ever-increasing demands made upon him. Sending the need the alumni, under the leadership of Dr. S. W. Smith, Chicago, have stopped in the breach of the agreement, with the amount of this money. "He is strong and of good courage" (v. 8).
His mission was to go in and divide the land among the tribes for an inheritance. It required strength and courage. 2. Unwilling obedience to the Word of God of Moses (i) it required much courage to be true to God. Property and success were conditioned upon unwerving obedience to God. To pass from the path outlined therein, one must conform his life to the law of God. To pass from the path outlined therein, one must conform to orderly this the law of the Lord must be in his mouth continually. He was to meditate therein.
Johann rendered prompt obedience, he did not stop to cavil, but 'it once gave order for the march. God made the plan and gave the directions.

Maria paraded for the red coat even more than Jasmine did, but the same dress she wore to the Emily Family give away the garment, had shown Maria that it turned her brown. She had given her tiny income upon condition of never seeing her, nor having her birth date recalled. This, unwittingly, she could have paid more than her own mine owned the cottage with its garden, but, lacking Maria's money, could not have paid much beyond taxes, and the help of Peggy Smith and the bees.
In haplier old times the mish road run in talk of sight of Lowland, and in talk of sight of the sea, way, seeking easter grades, rain out of sight, but almost with Peggy the bee, wherein she bought and sold plainly everything all offered, taking from Jasmine all her com-hose, biggest dress, were burgundy, Jasmine went on to her jumble of hives and barely in time. Two swarms were burgundy—out-the-war and out-the-war, was the month of the bole trouble of beef proof. Swiftly she was armed for the f甜 and -buter and any whole
Thus she did not see Maria stithering away, with a fine long box under her, and she turned back later—a third swarm had burst into lendert, in tandem烫手, fully deterred, and allowed—prevention took strategy and all afternoon, to say nothing of many stings. Sleep brought management for her, and she were even darker. There was nothing for it but abhread herself in a deep sunbonnet, when, "unawning her eyes," she looked at the shop, with a basket of choice fresh honeycomb. Her first glance aboved the shop, with a red coat, agitated in the window. Peggy Smith was mainly eyes and mouth—the eye keen, the mouth acutely. Her lifespan lifted out the combs—she even said less gruffly than common: "With mouth can afford to push," she added the trade"Jas."
"Even if I take it in trude" Jasmine begin.
He was answered a horn knocked imperatively at the door and as Peggy appeared a man asked hurriedly: "How much for that-that red coat?" "Not marked it sit-*snow* stock." Peggy returned. The man, burrying in, caught down the box, shook its outward coat. "What is it?" I wonder, would you be kind enough to put this on.
"What's it," from Peggy. Jasmine could but obey, yet managed to shield her face from the stranger's gaze. As the softness enveloped her, he gave a small glint cry. "Here for quiet and color. I'm painting a picture—I hope to make it great need in all this green richness a she will." If this young lady would pose for anger, yet stoping there uncertain, eager yet, she said. "I know she will," she said. "All she does is to study how to make her livr—see, she even fools with bees, and see she will be just as good as new—and she will know things about you—what you come from, what's your moral rutil—and any other thing I may think it
"Come along to town with me—all the references you want at the bank," he said joyfully—then almost truely to lamassia to "The Larry Curtis Book." "I don't know," he haven't ever seen it before. If-If you will pose for me—"
"I will." Jasmine interrupted.
"And you'll do somp' eis—stay here, keep shop for me, while I go a-moonp': Peggy said, stunned in the excitement of going to town in When a man and a moll meet in the green country with roses awake, mock birds singing day and night, and watch them dance. June face to face all in the glory of dew and dawn, you may guess the inevitable result. It suit that it Mrs. Larry Curtis, born Lewis, no longer a life a sword, will live, something a sweeter than honey.

Ament the newspaper controversy now, being waged between Benjamin J. E. C. CIRCULATORS
This is not the only recent instance where Negro editors have filled up their sheets with scurrious and vitriolic articles and editorials about members of the same profession, and neither the colored press nor the race is being helped one bit by such journalistic procedure; but on the other hand such tactics are playing right into the hands of our internal and external enemies, who delight to see Negro leaders engaged in fighting one another, and thereby progress the progress of their racial contingent and the social family.
"Backward, O. backward, time in the flight, eit erem, is mined, is caught when the circus comes to town.
Have you bought your bale of cotton yet?
Dr. C. W. Pemberton, local physician of the school doctor at Wiley Park, school games at Wiley Park, "boc" says the Lagrange garden, "were 'sonor' across the Wiley line with two touchdowns Wiley and I, and I with two touchdowns Wiley and I."
Some bit ago a big lion suit was instituted in a certain city by editors of one newspaper against editors of another race publication, and the other was thrown out of court by the judge when called to trial. It seems that Negro editors are becoming as envious and temperamental as the proverbial grand opera stars, prima domas and society leaders; and there seems to be too prevalent a disposition to dismiss the journalist as a journalistic contemporary at the least pretext, and for no other earthly reason than an insanable ambition and selfish desire to "show up" his journalistic frater and expose him to the reading public as a human being unworthy of public confidence and re
"The elevator boy" wants to know why they can't circus-breath the balloon, but they can do their way in and out of the big top.

Fraters, we can not win the game by pursuing such underhand and destructive tactics; for, while we are fighting among ourselves, the racial foe and opponent is getting away with every conceivable thing, even to murder, arson, bychning and beacon!
Two city flappers "doke" a tint

It will do our raw editors much to good the fable about the two rats squabbling and striving among themselves about the cheese balance. We have a feigned attempt to have each piece of cheese balance on the scales, with the result that the entire piece of cheese was devoured by Judge Monkey in his supposed attempt to settle the heated argument and internal bickering between these two would be belligerent.
Prof. James D. Ryan, Yates High principal and "high coordination specialist," is going up at West Dallas and Fred Mihan and Priscie. Talk about your Roanum-queen, we'll put "Jimmye" up every time as the Houston price
HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1926
WHEN WILL HOUSTON NEGRO HOSPITAL OPEN?
Ever since the dedication on June 19, 1926 (more than four months ago) of the $80,000 unit of the Houston Negro Hospital the question so repeatedly propounded has been, "When will the new Negro hospital open?"
Two youths going down a railroad track one day, en route to the railroad shops with their fathers' dimers, got into a hectic argument and brief fistfight; and while they were batting each other on the railroad right-of-way, a hungry turtle eased up seized the dimer pails which they had set down on the ground and their fistic bout, and meandered away with their fathers' meals.
The building grouch says J. H. Rid. of the Bronx, where he grew up, North East Texas. He off his latest Wyllk-Isle sports road trip to New York, Huntington, Boston, it's some car, car, car.
This interrogation has been fired at the Informer so much that we have admitted our inability to answer it with any degree of correctness or intelligence; for, with the exception of a proposed financial campaign for $10,000 for an equipment fund, a cloak of secrecy and cloud seem to characterize the actions of this Informer to sympathetic institution for our people located in the Third Ward.
Where are all those fellows 'who were going to attend the Wiley-Lange stump games in Gaines on the 18th inst. between the bet too heavily on Wills or Flowers.
As in the case of the rapacious rats and battling boys, our editors—who devote so much time and space fighting each other—are going to wake up one morning and discover that their cheese and dinners have been seized by an outside force and consumed in their entirety; and thus they (our racial quill pans) will be forced to fight each other and get busy trying to reclaim their losses.
Even this proposed equipment fund of $10,000 does not seem to be sufficient to cover the costs of what some whom contend that they are not going to contribute any money to this hospital under the present system, and as long as a ceramic-sculled race man is a member of the board of directors of this hospital, he is not entitled.
It seems that the referees are trying to help the white piglets this late in the game, and they are for "fouling." Years ago the charge against the Negro was "fowling" (lifting chickens from the room) or "threat," then, say, the office office opher.
Where issues and principles are involved, it is expected that ediths will take divergent and opposing views; but there is no earthly need nor excuse for this deliberate and malicious program pursued by the author. The program is not a threat in a pail and future endeavor to destroy and defame each other.
The colored board of this hospital has selected the names of 100 local men and women, who have been requested to contribute $100 each for this equipment fund; but it appears that little program has been put into place. To be perfectly frank and candid, there seems to be stiff and stubborn objection from certain circles against a certain member on the board, who has always taken a hostile and antagonistic attitude against his race; who incessantly and invariably opposes it; who has been accused of being a member of the race; who has bitterly assailed and attacked any number of local physicians and ministers, and who identifies himself with nothing racial except secret fraternities (and he has even sought to destroy several racial fraternal orders), having denounced the local faith and apostolized the church of the Lowly Nazeanza!
Any man is a mighty poor credit to his profession when he thinks up a reputation for trying to be mishandled and destroy other men. He is not a good judge of how much too many, varied, complex and exacting for Negro editors to continually serve in the role of journalistic yellow jackets (yellow jackets) in the field of journalism.
The Mirror--
(Continued from Page One)
of the so-called inferior race; but let these indifferent, apathetic and conniving public officials and citizens have a care, for as long as mobiles are available, they can help to grip any American citizen in the fight.
Humanity, despite all our boasted progress, education, wealth, culture and refinement, is still imperfect (for, to err is human, and to fail is human, but has never made a mistake, has never done anything worthwhile!). The editor holds a position next to the minister of God, and the printed word endures long after the spoken word has been written. The editor is not the one they say about each other, for “birds of a feather flock together.”
We hope South Carolina will嫁
to the North Carolina team.
Alen Akman marshals, but we are "Trom
Missouri" and must be shown; for the
North Carolina team, the North
Negro has no rights that a white man
has.
According to those who hold the key to the present equipment, the director of the pseudo-race man is removed from the hospital board, the directors of this institution can hope for very little financial or moral assistance and support from the business and professional members of the team.
Finally, fraters, when you have a disposition and desire to sling mud, vilify and "expose" another member of your lofty profession, remember the admonition of the Great Teacher: "Let him that is without sin cast the first stone." Sealh!
This attitude makes for mob-law, so per-invaded by the dual standard of citizenship; and the only way to act is to deal properly with the cause.
It would certainly be a calamity for the race to lose or "mess up" the new hospital project, but the person who recommended and pushed this objectionable man for a position on the hospital board is largely responsible for the present embarrassing and alarming predicament; for he (this hospital official) knew quite well—or he should have known that "his man" would prove a liability rather than an asset to the hospital and its racial cause if left unchecked. If he were to vide the equipment fund, this same board member could not be elected to the office of official dog-catcher in the precinct where he has lived since the early village days of Houston!
COLORED CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
If the state and national government must remove the various causes of the destruction of the environment, destruction, Jim-crowism and misinformation, and see that the laws are correct, and that the great stop will have been made to wards ridding the republic of its incarceration.
Dallas Negroes have recently launched a Colored Chamber of Commerce, and Waco boasts of a similar organization, both of which maintain direct connections with the white Chambers of Commerce in these two Texas cities. The Waco Negroes' organization in the two North Texas cities, practically all of the colored business and professional men and women of said cities have joined the movement, and the organization seems destined to do a piece of real constructive work, and to bring the race in closer touch and more direct contact with the men and forces that are directing and connecting the business, commercial and civic affairs and policies in Waco and Dallas.
The time has passed when colored citizens are going to swallow gullibly any superimposed leader, especially when said superimposed leader is only racial in color, and has nothing else in common with his own race; seeking every occasion to betray his own racial group for the proverbial "thirty pieces of silver," and to anathematize, scandalize and slander members of his own race with some title in the name in the household, without paying homage at the shrine of this "semible" oracle from Muddingingville!
Those in charge of state and federal water that it is not the water on the side of the ship that sinks it, but the water that gets on the inside of the ship.
Some years ago we had the Colored Commercial Club in Houston, but like most organizations of its kind projected here, this club was not a place for business for some time; and it seems that the business and professional members of the race in this city are satisfied with the utter absence of any organized effort to promote and advance their inter-occupationism. The number of Commerce in boosting and building up a greater Houston.
OMEGA FRATERNITY IS
SPONSORING MOVEMENT
FOR YOUNG MEMORIAL
Some of the members on the board of directors of this hospital are good, fine and respected citizens—too much to be aligned and allied with a man of the guttersnip species, whose only claim to fame and notoriety is through a wanton effort and malicious policy of trying to destroy, defame, defeat and despoil the best medical professionals, surely mercenary reasons and through fishish, ulterior motives.
With the largest population of any city in Texas and the largest number of business and professional men and women, both actual and potential, Houston Negroes need some kind or type of an organization to serve both as a clearing house and school for the Negro community. We need to encourage our people race pride, thrift, industry, sobriety, economy; to explore and develop the unexplored and undeveloped fields of commerce and business, as they particularly relate to our race; to form a working agreement with the white Chamber of Commerce towards the end that both bodies will work together—in the distinct entities—for the best interests of "Heavenly Houston."
If the Houston Negro Hospital can survive during its initial days under such a handicap, it will be one of the wonders not only of the African world, but the civilized world! Just when the Houston Negro Hospital will open and begin to function as its donor, J. S. Cullman, intended in his wonderful and humanitarian benefaction, The Informer is unable to state his opinion. He will be colored to the colored board of directors. Maybe they can shed some light on this otherwise dark and hidden secret, mystery or puzze!
With a real, live Colored Chamber of Commerce, or Colored Commercial Club (the name is rather irrelevant and immaterial) in this city, it would not be long before some concrete and visible results could be obtained, and the organization could play a very important role in promoting growth and progress of Houston—the fastest growing city in the entire Southwest.
It is not the object nor intention of The Informer to pitch a fight on this institution, nor the board members per se, but mere encouragement. It is not the object nor intention of regarding this hospital movement, and to state what this paper believes is the best way out of a nasty and embarrassing situation, and that is to force this anti-Negro "race man" (some human, some animal) off the board of directors of the Houston Negro Hospital pronto!

Two events of importance to the American public have taken place since the 1960s, one being the defeat of Jack Dempsey by Gene Tunney for the heavyweight, which by now, is an enduring engrossing the attention of many of the sport's greats. Wills by Fate Time and Jack Sharkey. One question, which has worried Jack Dempsey, is whether he solved to our satisfaction now, and that is whether Jack Dempsey was in a decision to bring Wills as he persisted in doing.
And "Tiger" flowers, they tell us, in a decision to bring Wills as he persisted in doing.
