INFORMER'S NEW DRESS
Perhaps our readers and advertisers observed the new dress which the Informer wore last week, as well as the abundance of news and editorial contributions and reprinted articles.
Last week's issue of The Informer was set up and made up in our own office, and the abundance of news and editorial contributions and reprinted articles.
Last week's issue of The Informer was set up and made up in our own office, and the abundance of news and editorial contributions and reprinted articles.
For being late last week, we ask the advertisers, yet all local readers and advertisers receive their papers Sat. morning of an amount of labor-type-typing, planning and laying out forms, setting up materials—to return to out last week's paper, one can readily see that we performed a creditable and commensurate publication newspaper-hook folder are being installed this week (by the way, the complicated machinery is being done by a member of our racial unit, over 25 years, he has been connected with Barnhart Brothers and Spindler to produce next week's issue in its entirety in our own plant, the most advanced in the industry and operated by Negroes in Texas.
BACK AGAIN: GONE AGAIN
Well, folks. Houston finally landed lodge 101, lodge of the Whalams and Calcutta Lodge of the Whalams, and suggest that the local loges organize their forces as early as possible and work year after year; and, in the selection of general chairman and committee chairmen or chairwoman, care should be exercised to ensure that the loges have their fitness and ability to put over the job, rather than upon the fact that they are not the loges lodge or court, or may be friends to some of the leading local Pyrian men, more to see along this line later.

NEGROES WIN HONORS
IN NEW ENGLAND COLLEGES
HOUSTON LANDS, etc-
Austin, Texas.—The Capital City will never forget the wonderful demonstration and showing made by the Colored Knights of Pythias and Court of Calantha of the Texas jurisdiction, and the city will be the city last week. Nothing like it has ever before been held in this city, and both white and colored citizens admit that it was the greatest gathering of any racial group or fraternal order ever held in the city on the Colonial Unexpected opposition from Wichita Falls for the 1928 grand session of the order made the Houston delegation hustle and tremble, but the Magnolia City finally triumphed and thus the Pythian-Calantha hones its next June in their annual gathering.
SAN ANTONIO PRINCESS
WINNER
the princess revue was by far the most colorful and colossal yet staged by the order, with 17 beauties and their attendants from an equal number of the other two each to be crowned Pythian queen. This honor was captured by the woman of San Antonio, with Mrs. Cecile A. Strong, another graceful and beautiful matron, three times, Mrs. Cent and Mrs. Strong was ninety-one and two-fifths per cent. Mrs. Cent and Mrs. Strong finished in fourth place, though many thought the rating rather low for the beautiful woman from the Magnolia City. At the final day's session the matron, Carol Carter W. Wesley of Houston, president of the Safety Loan and Broker-Office, Carter W. Wesley of Houston, president of the Safety Loan and Broker-Office, Real Building and Loan Association and the Webster-Richardson Publishers of the Houston Informer.
SEEKS 1929 SUPREME LODGE
Editor C. F. Richardson introduced a resolution urging the grand lodge to establish a lodge of the order to meet in Texas, and the measure was unanimously adopted with much cheering and applause. The lodge was authorized to use whatever means are necessary in pressing the claims in the Texas jurisdiction along this line.
GOVERNOR MOODY
VIEWS PARADE
The street parade was the longest and most impressive ever held by the orders and Governor Dan M. Moody. The parade was the parade from the window of his office. The parade passed through employees and attaches; and colored and cheered by state officials, employees and attaches; and colored and cheered by state officials, employees and attaches; and colored and cheered that nothing like it has ever before been witnessed in the town. The parade was 48 minutes for the parade to pass given point, and the massed flag formation originated by the encompassing clerks of the Oklahoma jurisdiction and commander at Camp L. M. Mitchell during the encampment week, literally brought the special trains departed Friday morning, carrying thousands of dives and visitors back to their several homes, and Austin has assumed the role of trying to get back to normality.

Dr. R. E. O. Bortk, with offices at 402 Old Follows Temple, is being graduated by his many friends, since it he began teaching. He was a stalwart referred, but not named, in an article which appeared in one of the cases he had been discovered and who, after calling in the chief quintime officer and other white doctors, had the victim of this homicide located at Carryville, La. At the time all the investigation was in progress, the discover of the case was in Chicago, III., taking post office and mail, nothing of the outcome of the report he made to the health department, in order to call some of his friends called his attention to the article mentioned, in the case of March 28, and left immediately.
Dr. Roett is a graduate of Meharyan College, Nawabhwa, for several years was a graduate物理学 and surgeon at the John A. Andrew University and has an enviable reputation as a diagnostician. He has very few cases of leprosy discovered in this country, it being the Orient, it is known in the medical ranks as one of the most difficult medicines to properly diagnose, hence, he has been much deserved praise, for the manner in which Dr. Roett is attending the state medical school, which meets in Marshall, this week.

Little Rock, Ark.-A white man has been arrested on a charge of killing Crawford Grisson. The white, Roy Smith, was bound to oversee the killing. Griffon was found on the Sweet home picke Friday night by passerby, and taken to the General hospital, where he died about an hour after his arrival. The wounded American died in detectives that he had been held up by two youth at the Biddle shops, and when they searched his pockets and found nothing, they became angry and struck him and told him to give the h-1 out of here. He said he was in the charge of the man shot in the back. He identified Smith as one of his assailants.

"And some fell upon good ground"
The Sower, in the parable, cast his seed to the winds of heaven.
That which landed among the stones, the thorns and in the barren places, perished.
Only the seeds which reached the good ground had a chance to grow.
The modern advertiser does not strew his seed of salesmanship to the winds.
He plants it carefully in the "good ground"—in the places where because of favorable conditions it has a chance to bear a harvest of consumer results.

Yates Summer School Has Fine Opening
The Yates High summer school opened Monday morning with a good enrollment of youngsters who are taking advantage of the opportunity to attend the summer school during the vacation months of the regular session. During the first week the number has increased considerably from day to day, and present conditions indicate that the number enrolled for this present term will be increased for any preceding summer for any preceding summer. Although the tuition is set at a nominal charge which may be even divided into convenient payments; the same high standard of instruction is being maintained as in the regular summer school. Many children, numbers, definite individual needs are taken into consideration. Many children and subjects need help during the summer in the technique and mastery of those
It is quite interesting to note the purposes served by the special class education department. The elementary students are working to advance themselves an entire half-grade, and five in their regular studies, this year. They are in regular school policy and has been authorized by the school authorities. Such promotions are made up of the opening of the fall term. Many high school pupils are making up their regular advance subjects. In special instantiations in the lower classes of high school work or junior high school. The sum of the opportunity for drill work and for securing good foundation for science lab work.
Casual observers have been impressed with the willingness and encouragement of girls girls have attacked their summer tasks. In practically every case, enrollment has been voluntary on the basis of the student himself. One is safe in predicting that the summer school is likely to be a factor in our educational program.

RIDE MORE FOR LESS PER RIDE
HOUSTON ELECTRIC COMPANY
JEFF L. ALEXANDER, Manager
IN THE SCHEDULE of street car rates, the first consideration has been given to the regular car rider who depends on our service for most or all of his transportation needs.
Under the new rates, if you ride the street cars twice a day, six days a week, your average fare will be seven and one-tenth cents with the twenty-five-cent nickel pass. This is practically the same as the old cash rate of seven cents or only ten cents per week more than if you purchased tokens.
If you ride fifteen times a week, your average fare will be six and two-thirds cents, and at twenty rides per week—three rides a day—it will be six and one-fourth cents, the same as the old token rate.
For four rides per day, or twenty-eight per week, the average fare will be but five and nine-tenths cents. In other words, the more times you ride each week on the nickel pass, the lower your fare will go.
If you ride the street cars more than ten times per week, the nickel pass will save you money. Ride more for less per ride.
