We do not mean to say nor infer that Negro lawyers, physicians and medical carecago, Detroit and other Northern cities; but the field is over-crowded and in need of more training, those succeeding who have the "longest line" or "best pull". Even with all its injustices and inequities, the black clientele fortile field for Negro business and professional members of the Negro race better opportunity for service and professional members of the North and East. We are lacking fundamentally wrong and defective with any educational system or training which inculcates into the minds of the products a desire to serve and a desire to ago the line of least resistance and thereby fall to render the type of service which the race diligently to urgently and woulful need. The Negro race needs more men like himself to equip his people elected to endure and suffer the hardships with his own people in Egypt, security, luxury and care, and ease incident to a life in Pharaoh's place and court. Finally, he only lives who serves humanity best, and the true and accurate test of a successful career is in the social practice, in the enjoyment of the ephemeral things of this world, nor even in the full and free liberties of service in the constitutional rights, in the real barometer of a successful career is to what extent one can help those in need of the services to render to render. Rather than sociability, should be rather than vengeance, vading influence among dominant Negroes who are capable of performance and social betterment.

Houston will be host to two officers of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company of Atlanta, Georgia, Saturday when N. E. H. Bernedon, acting president of the company and son of the late A. P. H. Fernedon, lamented present president of the company and E. M. Martin, secretary, visit the local office, located at 603 Prairie Ave. and C. A. building, Smith and Smith). These officers are on a good-will and inspection tour of Texas and the country while in a South Texas. Plans been laid to accord these distinguished visitors a cordial reception while they are accompanied by those formed to meet a large group of race business and professional men in Hawthorne, Houston. Both men are apparently young men and have literally grown

The Alliance Israelite under the leadership of the Palashas and to open schools for them. There are about 50,000 Palashas in Abyssinia, which has a total population of about 100,000. The Palashas almost the only working population of the country. Some engage in farming and others are are engaged in agriculture adjacent to the native Abyssinians who do some farming, but who for the most part are the soldier of the Palashas. The Palashas have a dissonant social dissension. Almost existed between the Palashas and the native Christians of the Palashas has also become more favorable since Dr. Felicovich has exerted his influence in outskirts of the colored belt of New York. They keep to themselves, however, and make no approaches to the Jewish. They identify themselves with the other Negro Jews in their vicinity. In fact, Palashas shan the Negro Jews in the Christians. The Palashas do not claim to be Jews. They do not pretend to be Jews. They are Palashas or Christians. They are Palashas or Christians.
and that there are no substantiating records of vital statistics.
All members of the commission did agree, however, that the infant mortality rate is twice that of the whites, and that the colored homicide rate is also much higher. He noted that no conclusions were reached on whether mission that colored health conditions, so far as relating to sanitation and hygiene, were improved or contrainshe, he stated that they are improving and offered as proof, the records of the American Society for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Dr. Jackson said: "Conservative states have not been able to protect America are not alarmed by the present mortality rate among colored Americans, and health cannot be considered in terms of economics, environment and education." He generally agreed that there is no such thing as true racial immunity, or racial suspicion in disease, except in a relative sense."
'RACIAL PURITY' LAW GEORGIA SILLY MEASURE
Atlanta, Ga. —To keep the Georgia white folks "pure" and to prevent a race war, the case can be made in the nature of Empty State, a racial purity bill that passed was termed a "racial purity bill" that makes it imperative that all parties seeking marriage, that is, white folks, place in the hands of the license bureau sufficient proof that the applicant is neither that of the applicants has a strain of Negro blood. If this is not a true license bureau can refuse to issue the license. There was nothing in the bill concerning Negro brothers and sisters or children of the contracting parties. up with the Atlanta Life, which is rated as one of the strongest and most substantial insurance companies operated and manned by Negroes.

Then the herring, favorite food of poor Lithuanians, has found the dining room at these Negro Jews. The dinner room at these Negro Jews has become almost a prominent never reached among white Jews, has become almost a popular ritual. The other day I was in the home of a family of Negro Jews. The occasion was in English: "You are cordially invited to attend the Brimilla of our newborn son, Saturday, 12:30 a.m. at 882 Lenox Street. Boston, Mass.—(ANP)—A scene of tragedy-pathos was enacted in Lynn court last Wednesday, when Thomas Murphy, age 83, of Florida, just across the border from Cornelia, Georgia, unfolded the story of his life, involving his accumulation of wealth up to $500,000, and his subsequent fleeing from his home and property to escape the wrath of the Ku Klux Klan. Pillage and murder stalked in the wake of his financial successes. According to his story, his house was burned to the ground and his daughter and wife were found dead.
Murphy's weird story brought listeners in court back to the slave days of the "Old South," and uncovered the sinister activities of the Ku Klux Klan-controllers of the present order of things in Dixie. The story brought them through the drama of the Civil War and the tragedy of later days. In Lafayette, the Lynn police headquarters, and asked for a night's lodging. Three years ago I made almost half a million dollars. Then tragedy came to my life. I was turned to my home and found my wife and daughter dead and my home turned to the ground. I received a letter from the Klan, but not taken it seriously.

The Texas educator spoke on "Trends in the opinion that "there is a decided trend among our students in second-order education of critical thinking, self-expression and freedom. In that connection, that nothing has happened in the Negro schools of America since the beginning of the 19th century that was more significant than the speech delivered by Dr. DuBois at the election of Dr. Mordecai W. Johnson to the presidency of Howard University.
In the course of the address, Mr. Rhoads referred to the "unfortunate policy and practice of suppressing the highest spiritual virtues of youth. They subdued it, and rather than an liberate it, and made sure the responsibilities of adult life in a democratic social order with its aspiries, they should be high-minded, high-minded, high-minded."
Mr. Rhoads did graduate study in the University of Michigan Summer School and presented a thesis on the history of the Mexican Opinion. He won high scholarship honors at Yale University during the school year 1922-1923. He is a graduate of the Yale Texas, high school, and Bishop College, also located at Marshall.

The first task of Solomon after his coronation was the building of a temple to his father, David. In his preparation for this task he secured wood from King Hiram of Israel, the stones he used for the temple, and the skilled workmen also from King Hiram. It was located on Mount Moriah (Ul Chron. 3.1). The suitable location was near the Lord and appeared here to Abraham. Its dimensions were 90 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 45 feet wide. The temple was built on the laver, the golden candlesticks and chariubus. The dedication of the temple was arranged to take place at an altar. The dedicatory services consisted of:
1. Bringing Up the Ark (vv. 1-11)
The ark of the covenant was typical of the Jewish temple through Jesus Christ (John 1:14). The ark was God's holy dwelling place. This, therefore, must be brought up and installed for a representative gathering of the manifestation of the divine presence was the real dedication. When the house of God was to be dedicated, the angel was for a representative gathering of the elders, princes and heads of the tribes. There were many great men appointed ministers, moved the ark, the fatal experience of Uzzoh in David's time was doubtless clear in his writings. The blunder of his father. Connected with this service was a very great sacrifice, one in keeping with the occasion. The mercy the mercy seat shows God manifesting Himself to His people on the ground of a law perfectly kept and obeyed, and blood. At the completion of the sacrifice, the temple was filled with the glory of the Lord. The son of Moses's Address to the People (vv. 12-11).
He points out to the people that God had chosen David to be king, yet for certain reasons he would not allow him to build the temple, promising that God would build it, that the work was done, the temple was built and the ark of the covenant was in its place, they could be assured that God had raised him up in the room for his father. Theoloemus' Dedicatory Prayer (fr. 22.22).
On the strength of the covenant promises, he invokes His presence ably and exhorts the people to have those hearts perfect before God, walking in His commandments and statutes. Offer Sacrifices of Thanksgiving (cc 92, 93).

CANINE CAUSES SHOOTING TILT IN EFFETE EAST
(By The Associated Negro Press)
New Orleans, LA—Politics, despite the fact that the election for governor or does not take place until January, the governor will be elected with four candidates already in the field. Each has his pet hobby for the "dear people" from free text books, food control and heaven on earth, and the "dear people" from continuance of heaven on earth in Louisiana for the descendants of slave holders, past and present, but up to *peace* as to any benefits to the colored man or woman of the state whose vote is used in the election of either of the political parties.
Boston, Mass—No probable cause, was the decision of the Third District Court, East Cambridge, Thursday, in the case of Russell C. Burkes of 20 Jay Street, who had been charged with murder in connection with the death of Thomas Digman, white. Testimony of the police was to testify that he dog on the street and that when he resented it a number of white men followed him to his home, where he was shot. The man received a superficial bullet wound on the chin. He died several days afterwards in the Cambridge

Medical Examiner Charles Currie testified that Digman's death was not caused by a gunshot, but chin, alleged, to have been fired by Burks, but was due to pneumonia. Burks, however, was hold in $1,000 and was shot by a gun. Digman dangerous weapon, with intent to murder.
The whole affair, police say, grew out of a fight between Burks and had existed in the Jay Street community since several clashes between whites and black two weeks ago. In the fight, Burks received wounds from an ice gun.

About two weeks ago you received from us a schedule of approximately five hundred lines for one insertion as an advertisement for our products. Altho there has been only one insertion, and as yet we have not determined upon a definite schedule for your publication, the response from that one insertion has exceeded even our fondest hopes. Of the number of papers in which we advertise our products, The Houston Informer is by far the best medium, with the possible exception of two which have national circulation. We congratulate you upon the pulling power, from the advertising standpoint, of your publication.
We are enclosing herewith a news item which may have quite a deal of value to your readers. We are hoping that you will publish this in your net issue of your paper, not from an advertising viewpoint on our part, but as an item of real news interest to Houstonians.
We have read with a degree of appreciation, the incorporation of your paper in its new quarters, of the publishing house, and of the Building and Loan Association. You may expect from us, in the immediate future through the W. B. Ziff Company, a regular advertising schedule to be used in your paper for the Southwest territory.
With the most modern and best equipped printing plant in Texas and the Southwest, The Informer will devote its efforts now to producing a BIGGER and BETTER NEWS PAPER; and advertisers, local and foreign, can not go wrong by advertising in THE HOUSTON INFORMER

Boston, Mass. — Harry Carter, 32, a Webster Street Cambridge, was found building in the unsecured second floor of a three-story stairway at 1025 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, early Tuesday morning, with his clothes thrown after fireman had gained control of a fire which threatened the fire building. He was taken to the Cambridge Hospital, where physicians say there is little hope for his firemen. Seven persons were forced to close to the streets; Mrs. Elizabeth Lath, 38, and Mrs. Frances Lamb, were taken down over ladder by the firemen. A semi-vacillated border, Mrs. Elizabeth Lath, was brought to safety, and watched them fight the fires from a year earlier. Ernest Lamb, the occupant, and four more men reached the stairs in injured.

Morehouse College has arranged a very attractive schedule, and with it the opportunity to attend at the belm, the Marcone team may be counted upon to take the field stronger than it has been in several years. The players are Brown, Allen, Howard, Alabama State Normal and Clark in the order named during the season, and the Tuckeegee Tiger will be in Atlanta on November 19. It is expected that this game will attract football fans from all sections of the state. Talladega will have Cooper, the forward passing ace, in the backfield, and James in the fundamentals of pass-

Taukegue is not expected to be as formidable last year, but its backfield, halfback, halfback halfback, Ernest T. Bailley, will no doubt keep the Tigers in the run-up to the playoffs. It is hoped the Tigers will be serious contenders for the conference crown. The destinies of the athletic activities will be entrusted, little can be said about them. The team made a good showing. It appears that Johnson will be most important of the season as recent announcement that R. W. During the few years that have been able to work wonders with the football team, and the Panthers have been able to work wonders with the football team, and the Panthers have been able to work wonders in his high school year the Clark team has a smashing attack and developed some passes which were no well-executed. It will be interesting to explain. It will be interesting to explain. LANGFORD STOPS ADAMS IN SIXTH
(By The Associated Negro Press)
Chicago — Ill — Woolcott — Langford, popular Chicago middlewomen, started on his "comeback" series Thursday night by knocking out Farmer Todd Adams of California in the sixth of their skated ten round.
Both fighters went into the ring determined to win and from the opening round it was evident that the battle was going to be a thriller. Adams had never been stopped and many of his opponents had beenLangford, however, believed otherwise and he centered his attack upon Adams mid-session. Marshall, Tex.-Extra curricula activities which are becoming more and more a vital part of the higher education, will lend life and spirit to things academic around Wiley College this year, *Football*, perhaps first in magnitude in the line of sports, continues to top the list when it comes to non-football activities. The Wiley-Langton game at the State Fair of Texas, Dallas, October 17 (Negro Day), will present quite a different aspect from that of last week's game. The Wildcat machine will go into the conflict unhappened by a list of crippled students and in the second place, Langton will make the fight of life here.
Coach Anderson of Langton wrote a special训会 will bring the Oklahoma, and, of course, Wiley协会 will run from Marshall and East Houston and other points in South Texas. The Wiley alumni will take a tour of the campus as an occasion for their reunion. Thus it seems that attendance both at the Wiley and at the university will be unusually large and enthusiastic. In the second and third rounds, he was punished with blows to the stomach and chin and clearly outwitted by run, punishing him with blows to the stomach and chin in the fourth round, from his corner in the fourth round, and administered a terrific hit to his midsection. The Houston Informer
The school system in Texas is unusually good. There is an abundant educational fund in which the Negro shares fairly well. The graded teachers are well paid in all parts of the state. High schools of four years duration and standard standards are maintained in every city of considerable Negro population. The high schools of the state of Washington; although in two instances they are known as Kelly Miller high schools. The state authorities are alert to the requirements of the education of the Negro. The legislature has just appropriated $800,000 for the state college at Prairie View. I addressed one thousand eager, anxious teachers in attendance in summer session to improve their preparation for their life work. The requirements are being steadily raised. Teachers from other northern institutions are being trained in other northern institutions. Texas and North Carolina take the lead among Southern states in the field of education.
The fraternities work in close sympathy and affiliation with the church. The prominent minister is called upon to preach the annual sermon when all of the pomp and glory of the order is on display. The funeral always takes place from the church where the minister has the conspicuous role. Membership in the orders is limited. The sermons are read in the church creed. The church and the fraternal orders are both calculated to appeal powerfully to the imagination of a simple-minded and highly impressionable folk.
In Texas, as elsewhere, the Negro spends extravagantly upon the burial of the dead, but pays little or no attention to the upkeep and beautification of the graveyard when it is opened before, and after, the funeral. Why is it that the Negro neglects its burial ground? I will return to the consideration of this query at another time.
I had intended to take up the question of secret orders as a field furnishing an outlet for the talent for leadership and power on the political domain. But this also will be taken up at another time.
I have still another week in Texas—why not wait until my literary interest has been observational? One does not have to eat a whole cake to tell the story.
New York has always been a symphony of the softer woman, all the climes of Sodom and Gomorrah; all the decendence of Ninawa and Kekuk, into belly Harlem, the synonym for cabarats; the "numbers," Negro剧院s; night bands, wasted youth—in short, "Nigger Heaven." The popular, concep- tion, one sleeps all morning, parades all afternoon, drinks, drinks, and gambles all night and only speaks the name "Nigger." As a matter of fact, there are more churches than in any other city in the world. There are more churches in Harlem than there are cabarats. There are more churches than you will find in smaller cities. Every city block in Harlem or even four churches. They may be

LOCAL "THROW 'EM OUT" STORE!
According to information imparted to the Informer, all the employees, except one, of a certain local colored concern are slated to be "thrown out" of a certain local white mercantile store, in the event any of these black Houstonians enter this store to purchase an article or commodity.
If The Informer is not in error, it appears to us that this same "throw 'em out" store, one of whose directing heads made the answer the nantier hostile reception which awaits this particular group of black citizens, was frantically striving some time back to interest some of these same colored citizens in acquiring some of its stock.
Every time the door of this particular colored concern opened a stock-selling representative from this "throw 'em out" store was seeking entrance and vainly endeavoring to plict the financial and moral support of these colored citizens, who are not wanted nor desired in this store now since a few local Negroes fell for this salesman's pleasing palver and invested some of their money in this white store.
Of course, the editor of The Informer did not purchase any of the stock, for he feared the "gift-bearing Greeks" and already it appears as if his fear and suspicion were well founded.
Furthermore, word has been conveyed to the editor of The Informer that this same "throw 'em out" store will advertise in this paper any more, as if said "throw 'em out" store is refusal or failure to advertise in the columns of The Informer will bankrupt the paper, or force it out of business!
In looking over our advertising records we discovered that this same "throw 'em out" store, whose slogan a few months ago was "sell 'em stock" and "invite 'em in", has not inserted six aids in The Informer during the entire career of the newspaper; and that the first of this brief series of advertisements did not appear in The Informer until the stock-selling campaign was launched here by this "throw 'em out" white mercantile establishment among the Negro citizenry.
As to the advertisements of this local "throw 'em out" white mercantile institution time the date, we found in The Informer that they were merely being placed for strategic reasons—not because this store desired to advertise in a Negro newspaper, but rather due to the fact that this was somewhat of a novel and shrewd stroke to interest Negroes in buying stock in this anti-Negro concern.
In the present "throw 'em out" policy of this local white store is not surprising to The Informer (even though a few local Negroes are reported to have purchased some of the stock placed on the local market); for the policy of this white mercantile institution has been rather hostile to blacks since the early 1960s, and the fact that the stock placed on the market is effectively because she endeavored to witness an exhibit on one of the floors of the store.
The Informer wonders how these local colored stockholders feel now, with this "throw 'em out" edict being issued by one of the directing heads of their store.
In this connection we are interesting to note what reason for the violence upon certain colored citizens and customers of this "throw 'em out" store, will have upon the Negro patrons of this local white mercantile establishment!
NORTH SEEKING TEXAS MINISTERS
Despite what some think and say about the "colored brother" in Texas, judging from recent calls tendered some of the leading Negro Baptist pastors of the Lone Star State commonwealth, it appears that the eyes of the North and East are turned towards Texas for ministerial lights.
On the heels of the acceptance of the pastorate of churches in Cleveland, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois, by Revs. A. L. Boone and C. C. Harper, pastors of the M. Gilead Baptist Church of Fort Worth and St. John's Baptist Church of Dallas, respectively, comes the report that the Metropolitan Baptist Church at Washington, D. C., pastored several years by the late Dr. Norman, has issued a call to Rev. E. L. Harrison, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church of Houston.
This latest report anent the Harrison call could not be confirmed before the reverend left the city for the national gathering at Detroit, Mich.; neither could it be ascertained whether the local pastor will accept the call to the nation's capital.
Only last summer of the leading Baptist churches in Florida introduced a call to Rev. J. Newton Jenkins, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church at Waco, but the good reverend declined the call and remained in Waco, where he has done and is still doing a wonderful piece of constructive, Christian work.
Not only is Texas a large state in resources and dimensions, but this state boasts of producing some outstanding characters in the fields of religion, education, science, arts, commerce, athletics and politics.
With some of the best prepared ministers being drawn to other states to work and, with a death of real ministerial leaders in the particular demination in Texas, the

Informer takes this occasion to remind the young men of the race, especially of this denomination, that here is a wonderful field for the greatest earthly service—for "the harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few. It seems to be up to them to pray the Lord of the harvest that He will send forth workers into the field to gather in the sheaves, and to preach a gospel and live a life that will give the world the true and proper conception of "the fatherhood of God on brotherhood of man."

THE OLD DIXIE ORDER CHANGETH!
That the old order in the South is changing, is evidenced by an editorial from the Birmingham News and Age-Herald (white), Birmingham, Alabama, which is reproduced herewith in this issue of The Informer.
In fact, this editorial is most unusual, and the attitude assumed by the editor of this leading white Southern newspaper marks the first time in the history of a Nordic journal of the South (as far as the Informer can recall), when any white editor has taken such a broad position.
When certain members of the Colored Knights of Pythias of Alabama sought to discredit the grand lodge officers of that state and destroy the order, resorting to court proceedings, this white daily newspaper carried several articles concerning the case; and the news items which appeared in the News were misleading and damaging to the order and race.
The news articles was admitted by the court and the attention of the editor of the Birmingham News, published in the city where court action was invoked or sought, was called to the misrepresentations printed in the columns of his newspaper, which injured and damaged the Pythian order in that state, as well as the directing heads of the fraternity, in a lengthy editorial this white Southern editor apologizes for the misleading captions and news articles, and commends the order and its leaders for their contributions towards the elevation and betterment of the race and social order.
Despite the fact that many of the white daily newspapers are always carrying news articles and items, often without the least scintilla of truth about Negroes and Negro organizations, movements, et cetera; and, despite the fact that many of these white Southern editors and publishers are often apprised of these erroneous news stories and damaging articles—sometimes written by some "cub" reporter who wants to be witty or have some fun at the expense of the Negro race—this is the first time, to our knowledge where a white editor in Dixie has had the courage, backbone and Christian manhood to admit his error and make an open and public apology for his misrepresentations.
When it is borne in mind that Honorable Thomas J. Heffin, United States senator from Alabama whose anti-Negro attitude is nationally known, is vice-president of the corporation publishing the Birmingham News and Age-Herald, rated as "The South's Greatest Newspaper," one can easily see that the editor of this Southern publication has truly been converted, and undoubtedly must be an ardent follower of the Lowly Nazarene!
The Informer has never been able to comprehend how white editors and publishers, who profess to be Christians and followers of the fair-minded and unprejudiced Christ, can continue to fill their newspapers with scurrilous articles and base misrepresentations against their colored brother, and not be pricked by the truth of their own public apology when such matters are called to their attention.
Only a man with a big heart can apologize for a wrong perpetrated upon his fellowman, and whatever may be said to the contrary about Alabama and its white citizenry, the Birmingham News and Age-Herald editor has pointed the way to all editors and publishers of his race whose newspaper a misrepresents, either wittingly or unwittingly, certain Negroes and Negro organizations, movements, et cetera. Veryly. It augments a new day in the South and a new epoch in interracial relations when the editor of a leading white daily newspaper has the moral courage and Christian heart to correct misstatements appearing in his publication concerning a purely Negro organization; and here's hoping that his tribe will increase. Selah!
In Justice To Colored Pythians
And Their Excellent Organization
abundant proof of its beneficial influence upon the race here in Alabama, not alone as relates to the insurance benefits paid to the families of the victims, but also to the economically. It appears that this organization during the last several years has made a distinct contribution to education by furnishing school supplies and time to color boys and girls in the dance. We are informed that Tuggle Institute, one of the most useful and helpful institutions for the Negro youth in the state, has been for many years a source of benefits from this organization.
Birmingham, Ala. News (white): It has been the uniform policy of the Birmingham News to be absolutely fair to all persons, both in its editorial and in its publication. Umaha. This course we have always endorsed to follow, not only as a matter of policy, but also as a matter of principle.
A short time ago certain proceedings were filed in the Chancery Court of Alabama in connection with the former general of Alabama against the colored order of Knights of Pytheas, seeking to place that organization in the hands of a receiver. In reporting the fact that such a prosecution was made, the witnessing used in conspicuous baselines the words: "NEGRO K. OF P. LODGE GOES BANKRUPT." There was nothing in the article which followed that in any way justified the headlines; and the News surely rejected the testimony. The mistaken was, of course, wholly unintentional; and now that the news was corrected to the correct error and to do what we can to counteract any unjust or unfavourable impression that may
An organization that is doing real good and rendering worthwhile service in its own field of endeavor for the advancement of its particular mission is the general welfare of the state, not be overestimated. Any agency that makes for the genuine good of a particular group among us contributes to the general welfare of all. Certainly, no self-seeking persons, they be inside or outside the organization to destroy it. What matters it that one member or another with ambition to serve the state may not be chosen by those who have the right to choose? The organization of the men in the race in the state, who for many years have served faithfully and sacrificed their municipalities. The men that live and their people and their various common goods must always count in their
It appears, too, that in the court proceedings referred to there was no claim not assertion, and the slightest suggestion of such a condition. On the contrary, it was stated in open court that the organization had several years there has been a steady financial increase, and that a recent report by the Bureau of Insurance of the State Department totals over $600,000, while its liabilities total only about $17,000,000. That the organization is exceptionally strong financially. The case was dismissed by the court, which action was not asserted, nor the logical outcome of the proceedings.
It is quite safe to state that any praleworthy movement or effort made by our colored people for the advancement of our people always has the support and assistance of the best white people of the country to the colored Knights of Python who wishes for continued growth and wider opportunity for the good it is endeavoring to do for its people. May God bless them thrive and go on doing good forever!
A fraternal benefit society, such as the colorful organ groups, has a strong moral support of all right-thinking members. Its field of operations among the colored population is the most important.

This release is done in Wichita Falls, Texas, which in turn is done in oil. Not one of my readers out of a hundred knows where Wichita Falls is; neither did I until my itinerary brought me here. It is located near the northwest border of the state and was brought into prominence by the oil company that brought a boom to so many Texas towns. By some strange concomitance, oil companies owned by owners receive the unual royalty which has suddenly transformed many a family from poverty to affluence. But in too many instances they were not ready for their newfound wealth. One hears of but few instances in Texas where it has imminured to substantial personal or racial benefit. Either the oil company has advantages or extravagance and poor judgment bring on the usual results.

These latter are the martyriums in the middle ages and the intitinabulations and mean of the "Hallachulah" song from "Hit the Rock." The farient strain of "Hallachulah" arises from scores of early prayer meetings from there is more sound of hymning than there is of riotous jazz; more prayers and burying churches and buries are filled.
