Lesson for February 5
JEBSU MISUNDERSTOOD AND OPPOSED.
LESSON TEXT - Mark 3:19-31; 6:14-16
DENTAL TEXT - He came into his house as many as he power to become the sons of God, and as many as he power to then give him a power to become the sons of God,
PRIMARY TOPIC - Friends in Junior TOPIC - Friends in Junior TOPIC - Facing Unavoidable Opposition.
MIDDLE TOPIC - Friends in Middle TOPIC - The Misunderstood Jesus.
1. Jesus Misunderstood by His Friends (3:19-21).
1. the occasion (v. 19, 20).
1. the importance of important events in the middle of an rapid succession. The twelve had been cheerful, and with Him his friends in preaching and healing in Galilee. Such great interest was aroused that though Jesus was weary and tired, he preached to his friends. 2. What His friends purposeed to do (v. 21). We lay out to lay in bed so that he gave Him giving Him self-help so they abasured Him himself so they helped him from His forbearance by taking Him from His bed. 3. What they sold (v. 21). "He in beside himself." His passionate devotion to saving the host seemed to be
1. Jesus Opposed by the Scribes (vv. 23-28).
2. He charged (v. 22). They charged Him with casting out demons by Bezzelbush. According to Matthew 16:16, Jesus charged the demons in this charge. The occasion which provoked the charge was the healing of a man possessed with a demon by Jesus. He warned the serving service for needy men by attributing His zeal to religious frenzy, and He being in league with the devil.
3. Christ's reply (vv. 23-27).
He exposed his folly by a question and answer to the disciples (vv. 1).
(1) "How can Satan cast our Satan?" If after Satan gets control he can be freed from the languish that he would thus become his own energy. In view of the nature of the devil, this is unlikelihood.
(2) "If a kingdom be divided against itself that kingdom cannot be saved," he divided against itself, a suicide. A living example of this folly is seen in China today. He divided against itself, that house cannot stand (vv. 25). House here mean family. The family that wars against itself will
(4) No man can enter into a strong man's house and spell his goods excessively (v. 27). Salam is the strong man, the house is the world, the goods of the house are the human beings whose welfare and happiness Sainam (v. 27). Christ's charge (v. 28, 30). Since He was doing the works of God (for before their very eyes He was doing the works of God) He was undoing the works of the devil. He went about doing good. Wherever He were men were blessed, wherever He were women were blessed, deaf ears were unrestrained, the lame were made to walk and the dead were raised. Having with unavailable resources charged home upon them most availful guilt, that of blasphemy against the Holy God, Blasphemy against the works of the Spirit to the deeds of the great sin there is no pardon.
II. Jesus misunderstood by His Failure (v. 83, 132)
He was mother with some of the object of getting Him home because they thought he had lost his reason. Of course His brothers did not believe that they had their final interview moved them to try to get Him home. No doubt he was most painful to Jesus. His most painful experience was used the deed to hinder Him.
IV. Jesus misunderstood by His Failure Townman (6:1-8)
He was unable to question the reality of Christ's work and the power of His words, but because he was one of them they were marvelous example of the blighting effects of prejudice. Because of this attitude of soul on the part of the brother, they were very limited among them. And he marveled because of their mislefth.
**Vinity**
Variety of vanity upon the preacher, all at vanity. And because, however, the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and proved many prose—Ecclesiastes 12:8-9.
Life is not a man's personal property, it is a loan from the Almitym for which he is responsible—P. B. Meyer.

"During my extended overland jaunt during last summer," the colony governor Empire State, I observed that Governor Al Smith is very popular with the residents of Northern and other Northern and Eastern states; and, it is my candid belief that if the Democrat nominate him at the governor's convention in Houston during June, he will receive more votes from colorful electors than the candidate in the history of the nation. My chief magistrate of New York, Governor Smith has earned a well-deserved reputation for strength and impartiality in dealing with both men and measures, and his favorable attitude toward colored citizens has been a strong influence among New York and Eastern Negroes. Thousands of these colored men attitude and platform, but because they recognize him as a type of person who believes and advocates the fundamental principles of democracy, which, translational to the language of the rule—a government in which all the people share alike and are treat-
"In my humble opinion I do not know a single man now being favorably appointed by the Republicans who can measure up to the Gotham governor whose name is not known, nor can be doubted or even consistently questioned. I believe that much, if not most of the opposition, particularly in the South, against Governor Smith was a result of his religious connections, and that he was not a candidate for high election grounds upon which to oppose and beat any candidate for the Republican, Colonel Simmons fired back this rejoinder: from framers of the Constitution, deemer or dreamed that the day would ever arrive in this country when a man's vote would be for any office within the gift of the electorate, and I am for AI Smith, the president of membership in the Catholic church and his pronounced opposition to the Volunteer law as presently constituted. I am not both domestic and foreign matters and represents the masses rather
"Please don't forget to include in your interview," the colon insisted, "that I am a Democrat and that I name Hose. Jice H. Jones, our financial leader and eminent citizen, as Al Smith's running mate, in the campaign, but how does a Smith-Jones combination sound to you? Mr. Jones is the logical man for the Democraticocratic ticket, and I am firmly of the opinion that Texas Democrats are just as big from all angles as the party from other sections of the country. Then, as the banner Democratic state, Texas is this consideration from
"Another thing," the colonel finally retorted, "can tell the world how much time has arrived in Texas for colored citizens who have followed blindly and ignorantly the so-called 'grand old party.' No genius can be so blind to any political party, and the Negro will never get the political and party power, and is entitled to, until he, racial speaking, learns how to use the ballot like other free American citizens. New York City.—(ANP)—That the Metropolitan Insurance Company actively seeks to insure Negreus but will not employ them in any capacity out in the January number of the Southern Workman published at Hampton Institute, Virginia, in its leading article entitled "The Attitude of Life Insurance Companies toward the M. Allen B. Doggett, Jr. edition of the magazine writes that: "It is a most valuable contribution to public knowledge that the facts cited are not generally known to the public." The writer develops the fact that the Metropolitan Insurance Company, second largest company in America, will not issue any form of policy to insurance relations with colored people upon the publication in 1868 of Fred R. Hoyt's book on insurance relations with colored people and Tendencies of the American Negreu. Mr. Hoffman predicted that the Negreu race would have died out by 1870 and social diseases, causing nearly all insurance companies to reject Negreu.
During the National Urban League meeting in New York last year follow-up meetings with Harry H. Pace, writer of the Southern Workman article, took the Mr. Hoffman securely to talk for his stories and figures used in his book. Mr. Pace divides the 381 life service figures according to their attitude on the Negro. It is interesting to note some of the New York Life employees Negroes in its home office, but very grueling while the Metropolitan insurance everybody but will give no employment to them to make them less likely to the Metropolitan, it is reported, collects over a million dollars a week from New York Life insurance dollars to them in wages or salaries. Twelve colored life insurance companies have less insurance in force than they do in New York. Mr. Pace makes a place for race patronage of race companies. Mr. Pace makes a place for mortgage loans and investments and for employment of Negro boys and girls who are coming to the United States.

Membership in ministerial relief is daily common with the ministers and the proposed pensions are to be paid from interest on an endowment of $100,000 per year. Oscar W. PLANNING THE STORE AND PLACING STOCK TO ADVANTAGE
There are three types of merchandise in most stores. Of course, there are really many more types, or combinations of these types, but virtually all goods offered for sale come within one or the other of the three following definitions: Merchandise the customer needs articles which a customer may want, and articles which the customer may be induced to want.
The habits and customs of different localities differ so that goods that may be in one category in one community, may be held in entirely different estates elsewhere, and be classified in one of the other two groups. It is, therefore, impossible to cite examples. Each merchant must determine this for himself: self-selling instinct is so highly developed, many people will be impressed with a more view of an article that has not been occurred to their minds as being at all desirable. Therefore, the reverse of the listing given above makes a very excellent plan for laying out the merchandise in a store.
The customer will quite willingly walk through the aisles of a store for the needs he needs. To a less extent, he will travel through other department stores, where he will be taught to want to en route to these other, more or less, already sold commodities.
Merchandise that may be sold upon impulse to the customer, and goods which he must be invigilated into wanting, should all be placed along the regular lines of traffic through the store. It is reasonable to expect that customers will go to any part of a store to buy essentials, therefore, the merchant must be able to place the thing he is to be taught into the proper co-relating of departments is a very important factor in the selling of many lines of goods. Does your display of goods in all lines function so as to give you the best possible experience? If not, you are in some sales that are rightfully yours.
Dress materials suggest the findings and many minor contributions to the completed garment. Shoes and stockings are of all interested. So are ham and eggs. It is not necessary to continue a long list of possibilities.
Slow moving stocks may be speeded up a bit by placing them near a more rapidly handled line. The psychological effect of quickly made sales often may be exercised, the nearby place which otherwise had been installed fashionable.
In addition to these practices, the merchant must give due regard to the customer's ability to pay for the services. The comfort of the customers, for a tired customer becomes increasingly difficult to please or even to interest. The sense of pleasure must be encouraged. The efficiency of the sales force has opportunity for demonstration only after a fair chance to function has been provided by the merchant who himself must provide stock planning and general customer welfare in his es-
