this colored race can get this special education student from Texas and every state came to this colored school. I am not afraid to vote for it, and there is not a colored vote in my district nor not afraid to vote for my vote, not out; there is not a colored vote in Texas, under our primary system there, that could come to my vote, not out. I can reap no political benefit from it; and if there is a white vote in my district, that could come to my vote, not out. I would give vote against me because I would give to this race educational institution to train teachers, doctors, and then let them be cast against me; not am not turned either or thither by this race, going to do my duty on this bill and respecting every other bill that came to my vote, not out. I think this bill should pass and I do not believe that a Southern man can be cast against me, and if they have a roll call, Southern men stand here like a solid phalanx and give this needed training to the college (Applause.) The conductor of this column, who is a Southern man, played all conference baseball games played at the Bishop View State Normal and all conference baseball games played at the score last Friday, and Saturday, when the Bishop Bears and P. V. Camphers mixed and spiked the game, and the Bishop's win Friday by the score of 18-10, and the Baptists coping Saturday, 7-6. The luncheon guests of Prof. and Mrs. C. H. Physician Killed In Collision With Slag Train Sunday
Birmingham, Ala.—(A N P)—This entire city was shocked by the tragic death of a man who was burned to death by molten metal when his car collided with a slag at St. and 28th Street evening at 24th St. and 28th St. Witnesses at the corpse's inquest stated that Dr. Hawkins' car skidled and crashed into a collision. It is thought that the latch was released and the hot metal was thrown into the car. Preen appeared on the scene and played water of water upon the metal to cool it sufficiently to allow the latch to open. The physician's body had been burned away and the entire body was charred. Dr. Hawkins was one of the most prominent physicians of this section and bounded by a very lucrative practice. It is believed he was going home. The situation is out of the protectors' hands against the location of the Howe-Roger Williams College on the site which had been occupied by the Negroes encoaching upon the property and rights of white residents. The voters were elected and, with civic clubs which led in the protests, were asked to submit suitable sites for the college.

Mr. Brown, the only colored man in the race, finished seventh in the primaries with more than 5,000 votes. He was followed by 608 ballots which was the least of the eight candidates for the four vowel candidates in the successful candidate polled 14,823. Though defeated, it is thought significantly more brown candidates solidly the Negro vote cast, estimated at 2,000. Mr. Brown is a gradual leader in the practiced law here for twenty-seven years. FORMER SOLDIER
DIES OF NEGLECT;
BLACKS PROTEST
Los Angeles, Cal.—(ANP)—In answer to a call from some of the inmates of the Soldiers' Home at Sawatte, Dr. H. C. Hudson, president of the local N. A. A. C. P., in company with Mrs. Hudson and young son, and Bumuran Burnet, one of the almshouse inmates, "retired" the home last Tuesday and discussed some of the alleged irregularities in the treatment extended to black soldiers with J. J. Steadman and General Wood.
It was reported that an inmate and general Company 12, died in Ward 6, because he was denied proper medical attention by one, Dr. Hugger, who had been summoned. And for the same reason, a certain number of beds in the hospital are set apart for black soldiers; and for the same reason, a man falls it is "just too bad" for him.
When they discussed these conditions mentioned, they were told that the segregation existing at Sawatte was in vague when they arrived, and it had been within their power to alter things.
Dr. Hudson, in the name of the name, pointed out that the digger had been in the yard within the better part of his life defending his country, that justice should be applied to him, and his declining years in Soldiers' Home.

WILEY DEBATERS
WIN TWICE FROM
FAMED FISK TEAM
Marshall, Texas.—The Wiley College debating team, defending the affirmative side of the question of whether a federal Bill Establishing a Federal Department of Education Should Be Enacted, "should be debated" at Nashville, Tenn., in contests staged at the college and in Douglas High School auditorium, San Antonio, Fri. 10 a.m., at the college and 26, by 2-1 and unanimous decision of judges, respectively. This is the fourth leading group of the college in which Wiley has scored victories of the kind in the past four years—included Howard, Lincoln, Wilburford and Fisk. The Wiley debaters, W. C. Burnett and F. G. Shackleford, members of the debate team, have prominently related to student activities, have developed a forensic process that would do credit to any team in the competition, and combination is effective both in direct argument and in rebuttals; each team has a separate case, the combination, was appropriate, the perhaps, to lack of compose as result of strange environment. Even though the competition, was upon the judges as well as upon the audience. Fisk bears a reputation that is international in scope, being a leading debate team of the union as any other school.

HAMPTON CHOIR WILL APPEAR IN CARNEGIE HALL
Hampton Inst. Va.,—The one hundred student voices of the Hampton Institute choir, under the direction of R. Nathaniel Dett, director of the Hampton Institute School of Music, will present a program in Carnegie Hall, the home of the Carnegie Hall concert, according to Dr. Dett, will contain Russian liturgical music, sacred songs of the early church, religious compositions by American composers, adaptations of Negro spirituals, and the Negro idiom of religious compositions by Dr. R. Nathaniel Dett. This student choir, whose performance is therium of the Library of Congress, Washington, D. C., attracted national comment, has demonstrated its character. Speaking of his aim and ideal with the Hampton choir, Dr. Dett definite musical thought through the medium of the Hampton choir, developing to such an extent that the composer has been a publisher, as well as some anthems based on folk themes and songs for folk songs now practically unknown. The changing times in the Southern states have blotted out many of these such as Dr. Dett and such organizations as the Hampton choir that the students have developed and given to the people at large. That students under his direction will appear in Carnegie Hall the choir, sent, will, without question, throw new light on the average music love of the students, expected of this student organization.

POSTMASTER'S SUICIDE BRINGS THREAT OF PROBE BY GEORGIA SOLONS; BEN DAVIS IS TARGET
Chicago, IL.—(ANP)—Death by suicide of Postmaster L. F. Peterson of Douglas, Georgia, and consequent charges of graft which he held responsible for his own death and for the murder of J. T. Kirkland, a postal clerk, whom he shot, has precipitated a political battle in Georgia with National Committee man Benjamin J. Davis, Republican, as the target for shafts being shot by Senator George and Harris, Democrat, of Georgia, and Congressman Lankford, representing the Douglas district at Washington.
In a letter which the dead postmaster is said to have written before he killed himself, he claimed to have given the five republican party organization in Georgia $2000 in the last five years out of his yearly salary of $2700 and that this levying of tribute was driving him to desperation.
Peterson shot his clerk and killed her, 1927, and that it was unigraded himself after he had received word from Washington that he was to turn in his keys to L. D. Sutton, his solicitor. Why should a man keep such a variety of letters in his possession? A variety of letters which it is said he wrote, were disclosed, all tending to the identity of Republican affairs in the state.
An unigned letter, reported to have been written in September, a telegram from the Associated Press to seek confirmation of his identity, not answered by the committee.
The Associated Negro Press can secureable to procure additional information concerning the tragedy at the same time Senator George was present, information was gathered, and that charges were being made by others that Republican political candidates have important information to bring to the attention they have not been exposed in the press before.
It is to the effect that although the postmaster was removed from office because of a shortage of $244.33, postal officials learned that the postal savings fund. Peterson had a postal saving credit at Atlanta of $5,000 and was used to cover the March 24 bill, and on March 30 another bill for $2,000 and against Atlanta for $3,000, and on March 30 another bill for $2,000 and against Atlanta for $3,000. He caused these at a bank and through a grave error the Atlanta postoffice permitted them to send a bill to the Atlanta office in a shakeup in the Atlanta office.

Peterson shot his clerk and killed him from Washington that received word from Washington that he had taken in his keys to L. L. Sutton, his successor. Shortly after his death, a letter from his wife, who wrote, were disclosed, all tending to blacken the administration of Republican affairs in the state. He reported to have been written in September, 1927, purported to seek contributions from the Republican organization, through E. C. Johnson of Ocilla, Ga. Other letters were written by Lankford, and still others made public by Peterson's wife.
As soon as the tragedy occurred, Secretary of State Harry S. New York City—In the Pittsburgh
Committee of April 7, an article was
received in the Houston informer.
At the same time this is happening, Mr. Davis is having his troubles delegates to the Kansas City convention of the party, where the present plans are for their agreement to be traced responsibility to the Kansas City committee handling arrangements, and Mr. Davis, in the current position, are members of the Kansas City committee are double crossers, holding that they promised there would be competition against the Negro delegates.

toral vote, should not take the initiative in attempting to dictate a nomination. Herbert Hoover will not be instructed and he probably could get them. On the other hand, if on the nomination it is seen that Hoover does not have a chance, then Texas' hands would not be tied and the candidate would not be instructed. For an uninstructed delegation has gained so much headway within the past few weeks that it is believed certain that the anti-Creager organization "will be overwhelmingly defeated, according to G. C. Littleton, the anti-Creager movement in Texas. Every mail brings in more pledges to the anti-Creager faction and honors the state have pledged themselves to see that machine rule will once and again break this year. Littlemilten, Congressman Wurzbach, according to news dispatches, will fill a speak-up session in Houston the first part of next month.

New York City in the Pittsburgh
City, where the Pittsburgh
carried entitled "Is Randolph To Resign?"
The article was the result
of a meeting between the
Editor L. Vann of the Pit-
town Courier: "If the Pullman Com-
pany agreed with the Brotherhood of
Sleeping Car Partners on the condi-
tion to get out of the brotherhood,
we can get out of the brotherhood.
We were told that the Pullman Company
considered me a Socialist and too rai-
dly to be a part of the brotherhood
the brotherhood as long as I was its
leader. We simply assumed that the
question was asked in good faith, since
Editor Vann and the Courier, his
paper, had been a stammer fighter
in the movement, and beginning of the movement; besides,
he has been friendly to me, per-
sonally, and has been the cause of Negro workers generally. Of course, I did not have
any problems with Mr. Vann would be published
in the Courier. Thus, I was amassed
I feel that Mr. Vann published the
conversation because he felt that
it would help the brotherhood and not
hurt the relationship, it will help it.
Now my first reaction to the question is resign if the Pullman Company would recognize the brotherhood upon the condition, was that certainly I would resign if the company would make any sacrifice which would be therefore, told Mr. Vann, hat I would resign and get out of the organization if the company would sign an agreement to recognize it fully and completely. I also said that the agreement must upon acknowledging that the agreement was bona fide myself, personal and upon holding the leadership of the brotherhood after it gets recognition and concerned about the brotherhood's achieving victory for the benefit of the company. The bondhood must be recognized. Every porter who has been fired on account of the brotherhood must be restored to the 240-hour work schedule substantial increase in wages must be granted and the 240-hour work schedule must be made just as the Pullman conductors now enjoy. After these things will be willing to get out of the organization.
Upon the publication, however, of the article in the Courrier, it appears that the company has positioned the porters and maids throughout the country, together with the leadership to my resigning from the leadership of the brotherhood in order to secure a new agreement with the Pullman Company. The belief is general that if the Pullman Company will recognize the brotherhood if I don't resign, if the men stand firm and harder than they ever fought before.
The Houston Inferior is in receipt of a letter from E. B. Morris, former-President Club, in which Mr. Morris replies to a Port Worth news reporter-President Club in Houston. Dipatch in a recent issue of the Inferior is glad to publish Mr. Morris' version of Mr. Hoover's past opinion to this paper. Mr. Morris' letter, which speaks for itself, follows in "Houston Post-Dipatch, Houston, Texas: "Gentlemen--Referring to the manuscript of Mr. John S. Hagerty, secretary of state, Lanning, Michigan, and under date April 2, 1928, I should like to give you an assurance sincerely hope that in all fairness you will give it as prominent attention as you did Mr. Hagerty's letter.
"I quote from the speech of Hon. Burton, congressman from Ohio, in his speech on March 13, his national record of Tuesday, March 13, on this very point. "But it in this very point. "But it in that Mr. Hoover was voted upon in the primary, the president of Michigan, in its recall the facts about this also. On February 21, he said he would be president. "On February 29 he was qualified in Michigan on both the Republican and Democrat lines. He received a petition without his approval. That was the law of the state. Against it he entered the Iowa protested. In Iowa he received the Democratic ticket, which he led, surpassing McAdoo and other well-known candidates. He was from Ohio omits to state that he received 49,000 votes at the Republican convention in 10,469 votes written in the Iowa Howard refusal to allow his name to be placed on the Democratic ticket in California. In the state of Ohio he received a refusal in Massachusetts. In the latter state he was asked, on April 10, to answer a nomination, he answered, stating that he would not; but his name was by his choice in the Republican convention. He received over 49,000 Republican votes in the state. Let me make a large number of the gentleman ought to favor a candidate who can draw to himself a large number of Democratic votes.

PICKENS AN EVENT IN WESTERN STATE
San Francisco, Cal.-ANP) — The two events of the year 1928 which will be remembered are the production of Garland Anderson's much-discussed play, "Appearances," and the visit to the University of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, where he was presented in the West in the interest of the association's annual conference this year. "Pickens" days and night were been filled with speechmaking and receptions among the hospitable people of San Francisco, where delightful gatherings in his honor was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Anderson. One hundred of the city's leading white and colored parents came to felicitate Mr. Pickens and to lend their support to the work of doing. Mr. Garvard has been treasurer of the San Francisco branch of the National Association. FIRST IN ADVERTISING FIELD—PAGE FIVE
For 250 years the Negroes, with their black faces, had been driven into segregation and robbed under-claim, time, they have been a hindered, segregated and robbed under-claim, which had no original connection with the motive to oppress, has now become a tactic, antisufficiency, contempt—and just robbery. The black faces have so long played the accompaniment to the oppression. This is the original color—"color-pachyne." If the American slaves had been of the same color as their oppressors, they have developed a keen "clan-pachyne" in the reaction of the color. It is economically under-class, than to escape from a race—easier to own one's skin. And if there be a "race" question at all, it is just this medium of difficulty which an oppressed class—more than an oppressed class
Lychning is one way of keeping an original piece of art, but it will work humbly, accept cheap wages, and keep its mouth shut. Color and all the myths that surround it just this little bit of extra advantage in his robbery of colored manuscripts as an one of the means of keeping back the white mass of working people, the wage worker, the waffler and the strawbreaker. And the color psychosis has been so well developed that he can be enlisted to help oppress the Negro who in turn becomes the instrument of further oppression of white labor.

Beverley T. Crump denies the pellium
count of James O. West to restrain
certain election officials from inter-
ment with West's participation in the
primary.
Judge Crump made an extended extension between the provisions of the 1964 law and the Negro's right to vote in elections, and precedents established that primary elections now are more than revised methods of holding elections in the context of candidate selection. He said: "It is well known that political parties formerly used conventions to elect their primaries, and that the state established a primary law. The primary law does not interfere with the rights of a public party. It directs that the officers of primary elections shall be officers of the law, and that the state shall make scribe party rules. It is clear that articles conducting primaries under the primary law make laws as they had before the law was adapted. They may any who vote the primary. The primary law is represented by Alfred E. Cohen, white, and J. R. Rollins. It has been taken in a number of Southern states recently to present Negroes from participating in primary elections in recent recent instance being in Florida.

Chicago Colored Postal Employes Not Inefficient
Chicago, Ill. — (ANP) — That the charge made by Congressman Stevenson of South Carolina that Negro workers in the Chicago postoffice were inefficient, was baseless and false, is not true. The Negro Association Negro Press from Postmaster A. C. Leuder, which was written with the sanction of Postmaster H. C. Leuder, in his letter Mr. Leuder pointed out that “there are representatives of many racial groups and nationalities who are employed by the total number of employees being between 18,000 and 14,000, and we are not aware of the race or nationality in dealing with these employees. The records give ample testimony of a general efficiency.”
The postmaster further declared that "the fact that many of the colleagues have been very active many years would in itself testify to their efficiency and general knowledge from South Carolina made the charges, Congressman Martin B. Madden of Illinois made an effective effort to get the employees of the Chicago postoffice and branded the charge as absolutely Postal employees contend that since the efficiency records are not kept on the premises, the charge is out by Mr. Leuder, that "no distinction is made as to racial groups or race, and false the report of the co-called "efficiency" report of the W. B. Richard Company, upon which the charges

TRANSFIGURATION AND SERVICE
LESSON TEXT - Mark 3-2-28.
GOLDEN TEXT—He that abdicates to him, and I in him, the same heathen that for me to do, will do nothing.
PRIMARY TOPIC—Jesus Shows His Gift
JUNIOR TOPIC—Jesus Shows His Gift
INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR TOPIC—Young and Old Can Do IPC—The Meaning of the Transgression.
When Christ announced His death which was to take place on the cross, the disciples were unable to see how victory could issue from death. Jesus took with Him Peter, James and John. Two men from the upper world were sent to converse with Jesus about His approaching death at Jerusalem. Jesus defended his disciples' defenses to talk. The translation is therefore a foregone of the coming kingdom.
Jesus Christ Glorified on the Mount
He took the disciples "by themselves" and was "translated before them." This shows that the purpose of the disciples and not the disciples and not on Christ. Christ's rebuke of Peter for his unwillingness to hear concerning his death apophora for a time a seismed earthquake, but Christ bracteated an mutual transaction was required. His shipling rament was typical of that glory which shall be manifested on earth. His appearance on the mountain typifies His visible appearance on the Mount of Olives (Zeck 14.4.1). H. Peter, James and John represent Connection with the Kingdom (v. 2). Christ is peculiarly the King of Israel. According to Ezekiel 37:21:27, the Israelites are to be cast into the sea, and the kingdom shall be gathered from among the nation and united as one in that kingdom, in their own country. I. Moses and Elia appeared in Jerusalem.
He charged them that they should tell no man concerning the things which they had seen until He had sent them. IV. A Demonstration of the Purpose of the Establishment of the Kingdom of Israel. When they descended from the mountain of transgression they witnessed a great multitude in a state of despair. The state was the grievous condition of a young man possessed with a demon (v. 18). The father of the young man was the demon out, but they were unable to do so. When they brought him to the temple, they were grievously oppressed, causing him to cast himself into the fire and into the darkness. Peerliness are doing the things which will result in their own destruction. The Devil will be peculiarly accustomed to men and nations in the last days.
Getting Salvation
If we are going to get salvation, we have got to get it upon God's terms, and not upon our own; and that is why I fear that a good many people can't have their own—why because they can't have their own way about it—D. L. Moody.

NEGROES DEMAND REPRESENTATION!
The Informer has been agreeably surprised st the large number
o€ Republicans, both black and white, who have endorsed the ac-
tion taken at the Dallas conference om March 24, when a resoli-
tion was introdueed, debated and finally passed, offering the ten-
tative baa of pence and barony among the warring Rep
‘can factions in Texas.
‘News dispatcher reveal that a similar movement in Arkansas
has already borne fruit: a compromise having been effected be-
threen the “black and tan faction, led by Judge Scipio A. Jones
Little Rock, and the “liy-white” (organisation group, under
icaderahip of Wallace ‘Townsend.

partisan disputes toe settled in the several statea, if poasible,
‘Soas to make it unnecessary for the quadrennial washing of dirs
iimen before the contents committee at Kanaas City.
Going a bit further and to be brutally frank, the Republicans
have enough trouble on their hands at present without internal
bickerings and fights; and unselfish and patriotic Republicans
wil nt engage im practices and activities at thin stage, of the
‘ame to further hamper and impede partisan harmony and vie

“The colored Republicans of Texas are not trying to dictate the
terms of peace but they have merely and coarly indleated the
tania of peace, which, summed up in one word, it REPRESEN-
TATION
While the present Republican regime in Texas has control of
the party machinery, the colored Rpublicana of the state have
the votes: and no party can be built-up, nor candidates elected
tovofice without votes.
Whatever else might be said, either pro or con, about the re-
cent statewide parley at Dallas, the fact remains thatthe colored
Republieans of Texas have placed the present party leaders in
this atate on the defensive.
"Te hareany resolution” deprecated “inceaant and repeated
internal bickering of the last three quadrenniums_ and the re
sultant retardation of a healthy and consistent party growth tn
‘Texzan"and sirensed the idea of bringing about and maintain
ing "party harmony” and building up “a robust and functioning
Republican party organization in Texas."
Going a bit further the conference merely sunrested a basis of
agreement, whereby all three warring factions Creager faction
‘Warsbech faction and remnants of “black and tan’ faction ~
‘ould come together on some common ground and elect 2 delegs
tion composed of Republicans, without regard to thelr former
titade in internal partisan afar.
“This was indeed wise and generous act on the part of the cok
ored Republicans of Texas, and if the Creager-Nolte and Ware
tich-Littleton combinations are in earmest about peace, and wa
‘o uphold Republican principles, tenets, traditions and anaes,
harmony conference Will be called before the state convention
ce at said convention a basis of agreement will be reached.
