Dallas, Texas, June 5, 1929—Amidst all the trimmings and settings of a gala carnival, and with thousands of delegates and 11 regimental brass bands in attendance, the forty-fifth grand lodge of the Colored Knights of Pythias of Texas, headed by W. S. Willis of Dallas as grand chancellor, held its public welcoming program at the Fair Park Auditorium, a very beautiful and spacious building, Monday night. The features of the opening program were the welcome address by Finance Commissioner James H. McCormick, and the invitation to come the visitors to the city when Mayor J. Waddy This Dallas' famed "hot-dog" mayor, had informed Dallas Pythias that he would not deliver an address to Negroes. Responding to the official welcome, Colonel Roscoe Coulking Simmons, Chicago, supreme lecturer of the order and well-known orator and publicist, not only captivated his mammoth audience composed of more than 4000 people, composed of both races, but he won widely new friends by the able and admirable man. It was a great success for the keys to the city. It was a new Simmons who impassionately argued the case of his race, expressing the determination to "win his case, or hang the jury." Because of the publicity given the grand lodge by the mayor's prejudicial action and the reaction of the citizens of Dallas to the prosecution and democratic and unchristian attitudes, a large number of whites attended the Monday night public program, and before the program began a bountiful welcome of Dallas to the grand Chancellor Willis by Nathan Adams and G. C. Chidsey, president and Vice-president of the American Exchange National Bank of Dallas the strongest financial house in the state. The other gift of $65,000 was made to the Industrial High School of Winston-Salem. Both gifts are announced as the first of a series of contributions that may be made to develop high school courses in teacher training, as well as in the industries for Negroes in the city. Prior to the Rosenwald offer in Littleton, Rock, the school board of that city originally planned, to color for colored pupils to cost $250,000. A originally planned, to color class found in the South, but not the kind regarded as standard by the school board. In fact, this association has never been able to grade Southern colored students and inadequate courses. The subjects taught were as a rule not designed for practical use after graduation. There were no industrial courses nor modern classes in home economics, nursing, vogue than the modern French and Spanish required of many teachers to lead. The Rosenwald Fund directors had brought before them statistics of the status of the schools in the communities which the schools were supposed to serve. As a consequence, they were moved to steps that required them to give up urgent additional necessary courses. Some of these were classics, some industrial, such as automobile carpentry, with the domestic science courses for the girl; and some were volunteered to add $65,000 to the original sum of $250,000 provided by the Little Rock board if the board would agree to give them the appropriate extra tracourses favored by the fund. Of the highest legal tribunal in the country, granting *Nerre Sherriins* all the rights, function, et cetera, enjoyed and exercised by the plaintiff, the court again demonstrates that this august legal body will generally decide all matters properly brought before the court; and it blows proves that prejudice often influences and aids the plaintiff, many cases involving the more nausea. LESSON TEXT-Jeremiah 25:1-19 OLDEN TEXT-We will drink no PRIMARY TOPIC-Strong to Live Right PRIMARY TOPIC-Loyal to Do THE INTENDENT AND RESOND TOPIC-Accepting a High Moral Standard YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULT TOPIC-Form of Modern Persecution. 1. Who Were the Rechabibes? (I Chron. 2:50). They were Kestenius of Homestead (Mon. 10:25). Moses' father in-law (Num. 10:25). cf. Judges 1:16). They entered Canaan with the Israelites. It means that in order to preserve their loyalty they chose the name of them (I Sam. 15:5). They were characterized by: 1. A matriarch from strong drink (2 Sam. 15:9). 2. A nomadic life (35:10). II. The Rechabites Tested (v.1.5) In the days of Jebeliam the Lord charged Jeremiah to bring the Rechabites test them according to the drinking of wine. This he did in a place where the people might hold them the blood. The father of the Rechabites had given the command that they should put to them their filial obedience to put to them the lord of Judah for their lord of obedience to their Heavenly Father. Joadah the god, their Creator and Savior, they man, but the commands which Judah disregarded were from the Almighty God, their Creator and Savior. They turned away from the fathers even turning away from the luxury and degeneracy of Judah and maintaining that every man be tested. Being a free agent, he can have character only through testing. It was for this reason that every man was Eve in Elen and permitted the deril to test them. While we should be tempted from men, we should be more concerned with showing them how to overcome it. II. The Filaal Loyalty of the Rechabites Though they were out of their own country and among a foreign people, they had been instructed that they had been true to the instructions of Jomah all their lives. Obedience to his instruction had led them to children. It is a fine thing when children keep in mind their fathers and children. It is a fine thing when the Loyalty of the Rechabites Contrasted with the Disloyalty of Judah (v. 12-16), V. The Loyalty of the Rechabites Contrasted with the Disloyalty of Judah (v. 13, 14). This appeal was made on the basis of the filial loyalty of the Rechabites. He reminded them that though their fathers had been instructed to rechabites remained loyal to his command. The prophets appealed to them not only on the ground of this agreement, but on the current entree through the prophets. 2. The ministry of the prophets 2. The ministry of the prophets to render obedience to God. He sent them prophets who pleaded with them to amend their ways by turning away from them. 3. The points of contrast as follows: (1) The Rechibals were obedient to one who but a man. The Jews God. (2) Jonadab was dead long since and could not know of their disloyalty or correct them concerning it will punish the disobedient. (3) The Rechibals were never put in mind of their obligations, but God sent His仆人 Jadah. (4) Jonadab left the charge, with no one to bear the expense of his task as did Jonadab, but good land and blessed them in it. (5) God never tied up His people to any hard task as did Jonadab, but God would have it would bring judgment as pronounced against them. V. Judgment Upon the Jews for Disobedience (v. 17) Jadah would have it would bring judgment as pronounced against them. The Rechibals Rewarded for Their Loyalty (v. 18, 19) Because they had been true to the commands of Jonadab, they should continued representation before God. As a follower of the Guggenheim Foundation, White studied, taking the best part of a year from his work with the N.A.A.C. A year later, he gathered during his years of study and personal investigation. The author's two previous books, "THe lynchings were bwere novels," the former containing the story of a lynching quite as great as the crimes recorded in these chronic cases recorded in this later study. Just where we will place the story of a lynching, the literature of literature is difficult to say. Hardly a history; not complete enough to form a novel, nor a biography; title fecitiously claims to be a "biography of Judge J. James Pagenot," the latter category, it is excellent—a record of authentic cases of lynchings, and a gathering of conclusions and information. As a contemporary reference book, it is ex- pseudo-science and economic con- tents, and the use of lychnis, and Mr. White discusses them in relation to the subject rather than in the chapters—that is, matters in the chapters—that is, matters under one heading, sometimes appears under another caption, in al- phabetical order. Some interesting by-products of interracial relations are brought out in the research. For example, the crease of mixed blood in relation to the total of unimagnized Negroes is conceived as a marker of interracial intermarriage by law between Negroes and Negroes in all states where they live. This situation quite familiar with most colored people, who have gone to the pain of investigating conditions, has been documented in persons, unless the statement can be bolstered with irrefutable figures. The research has concluded another table in his appendix proving his assertion. The inception of the idea of making a matching a pastime for all persons to be forced to pay for the sport, is interesting traced by reference to days of slavery, where the owners of the lynched used for and received damages for the crime, are amusingly punctures some pseudo-scientific findings concerning the Necroes' city, etc. The only puffy thing about this research thus refuted will not read me.
