The conductor of this column spent time in Texas, where an important conference was held with Texas Pyharian leaders prior to the Hirsching visit. He had a standing position as Chancellor S. W. Green of New Orlea. While in the North Texas city, we made our temporary headquarters at the William Hill Museum, the former being the brother of Mrs. John W. Rie, former Dallamia now reading at the Morgan Library. The Morgan showed that Mrs. Morgan is also a sculpted oil artist. Accompanying the writer on the trip to Dallas was Aaron Day, Jr., a sculptor and international Benefit Life Insurance Company of Washington, D.C. and John C. Johnson, the secretary of the Texas Old Fellows. It appears that Dallas is in the throes of a financial crisis, and we learned that the city council of the city measured, giving the citizens a little measure, giving the citizens an economic and financial conditions in Houston, while not the most favorable are certainly good comparatives. We are important to the Chancellor S. W. Green of New Orlea.

After attending American parents, after attending Boston, he went to New York City in 1916 to further his education. After two years he forsook the study of medicine to study music. Five years of serious study in the music department, he studied a scholarship to study the piano with the University of Paris. At the University of Paris (better known as "La Sorbonne") for special concerning Mr. Turner's ability; "A master whose touch is intriguing," he said. "His music magically done that one is reminded of music descending daintily—Not Gallon, Antwerp, Belgium." "A magician on the key," first Faces, director Boardwood Piano Co., said. "A magician at the student council of Wheatley.

Marshall, Leped — The Bishop Bears dropped a leap of 19-30 decision to the Wiley Wildcats in a basketball game here last week. According to comparative scores the Bears were doped to win over the Wileyites but the usual thing happened and the Bears won, apparently from form of habit.
"Nellie" Nellima, who is generally admitted to be the best guard in an injury he sustained in the Hibsby-week. "Salt-Top" Hepson and Takahashi all game, the gavers were in injury week. "Must and Jeff" of the Wiley team, Thompson sank them from all angles and positions at will. Had it not occurred, he would have reached prodigious proportions, but he was here, there and everywhere. The turnover Wiley threeds and attempts at the loop in adverse directions much to the disgrace of the Wiley group and the team. Wiley played only two games but Bears had only two three days returned from a hard road trip to one game out of three. The scores: Bibhop 10, Prairie View 16, Bibhop 11, Bibhon 21, Prairie View 17. This defeat did not put the Bears out of the kettleball tournament to be awarded to the winner of the tournament to be held February 28 and March 1.
WILDCATS BEAT BISHOP CAGERS IN WEIRD GAME
WILDCATS BEAT BISHOP CAGERS IN WEIRD GAME
Marshall, Text. — The Bishop Bears lost to Wiley last by a 29-10 and are destined to once more endure the bears left by the recent unsuccessful Wildcat. It appears that it has broken the bond with the boy to win often from the Methodist institution. Numerous occurrences they have to only let the boy tie by a competitive or concentration. Their comparative percentage of wins is almost 90%.
The season's record of the Bear in beams is long and impressive. They have played in 32-12; won from Pratt and St. Louis in 18-10 and finally dropped a heart-breaking 21-23 decision to the first stepping stone in the playoffs. The scores are not an indication of the ability of the team, but a morpure moment in the season. The recent game has been enough to make Coach Mumford as cheerful as a morpure moment with a warm-up, but has been enough to consider the best guard in the conference, has been up with a swapper digit, but has been up with a swapper digit. Wiley fractes despite this handicap. Coach Mumford, Jr. guard, has been consisted the placing of W. Perry in his new position. Coach Mumford, true to form, has consisted on his task of getting his charges in trim for the tournament, and he is certainly about to win the trophy, and so are his Bear. Several things were certainly about to win the trophy, and so are his Bear. Several things were certainly about to win the trophy, and it is hoped that these obvious weaknesses will be invoked out before the game on February 28 and March 1.

one of the few hotels big enough for a convention meeting that will extend the meeting of the Federal Council of Churcheses executive committee was the one in this city, because those in charge of the convention met in the Christian democracy to meet in a place where all delegates could meet. The convention, over, quite a few of the most influential delegates registered with the church, and apposed with them at colored halls.
The Y. M. G. A. the Y. W. C. A. the origine of the Congregational women of group organization all have been putting up a determined fight for equal accommodation and respect. This is one answer of the Christian movement with a deliberate and organized movement hotels with a consequent reaction of congregational meetings. The outspoken congregational stand of the Congregational boards is the answer of the church to this challenge.
The Negro delegates were: George W. H. Barnwell, superintendent of the Board and the Commission of Missions; H. S. Barnwell, superintendent of the Mission; Monsignor Mitsuoka, missionary and Rev. Heinold M. Kingsgaul, director of Negro Missionary Churches and Christian Extension Churches.

Now, where, now, I rise to ask, does the department of the aid differ from the department of the grief? Do they not bear their burdens, without a suitable complaint, except in cases of grief? Do it occur to the luck of the black brothet to right back except when the victim is bombed, or race rage? Are they unurged in planning any measures to protect the victim from violence against them? After an urgency of moci violence, do Derego deny the victim the opportunity and uncompromisingly the old harbors? Answer these questions, and consider the mass of General Stalin's statement. Here the child spent his first year in the river in a but more wretched than any of the others. It was four years old, and he was on a board, on the river, only, without a floor and with no need for doors or floors, moved to a better structure nearly, but he kept with windows and doors, his feet in the water, his flooring. That year the mother, Nanette Abel, then nine, and a sister two years older, the two following years were able of a life that had in it much of the day of the Civil War with its terrible poll of death: that came from the depth of despair. Thomas Lincoln then married again. The step-brother some念 some unsimply unfortunate of the fallen of the word to the boy. Abel, as he was called, with her aunt on a brigar bar. COLLEGE GROUPS INTERESTED IN RACE RELATION
Atlanta. Ga.—An exponent of the South, according to the University of Georgia, said that the interest which the college has in the student is the greatest in the student in the past.
Courses on race relations, either by individual work in the social science, are given in a hundred colleges, and a large number of them offer a wide variety of this way. Speakers on race relations go every year into many of the many as 10,000 students in a large number of discussion groups in race relations and are being conducted by the student Christian Association of interracial forces and carried on, in which students of the different races are involved for mutual understanding. In Albuquerque, for a number of years and enrolls students from Emory and Atlanta and other colleges, and frequently visitors from other colleges are brought to Albuquerque for about fifty and in the course number are brought in touch with it. Literature on race relations is being made by young people and a large number of excellent papers are submitted to the college prizes offered by the commission in Race Relations.

TEXAS BAPTISTS LOSE PROPERTY
While the leaders of the Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention of Texas are wringing and using all the money they can raise in legal litigation, not only is the denominational cause sustaining an irreparable injury, but all the real estate owned by the convention in Texas has been sold by court decree.
In order to protect their own interests, the Colored Knights of Piedmont are carrying on as if they are engaged in the property in the state formerly owned by this organization, including Houston College, local Baptist institution of learning; Bryan Orphan Home in Brazos County and considerable holdings throughout Texas.
Even with this tremendous loss and the slim chances of recovering it, these Baptist leaders are still engaged in their tug-wag and are carrying on as if they are engaged in a battle. When the organization constitutes of this Baptist convention, The Informer admonished the leaders to bury their differences, unite on some compromise candidate for the presidency of the organization and thus save the denomination from the pitiful position in which it finds itself today.
After more than two years of internal bickering and court action, these Baptist leaders are no longer the solution of their differences and the president of their differences than when the break originally took place.
As a matter of fact, it is apparent that these supposed religious leaders (Christian brethren) are farther apart today than when they agreed to disagree at the Paris convention in 1927.
Before this split the Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention of Texas possessed some very valuable holdings in various cities, but the amount paid by the Pythian alliance is easily worth the amount paid by the Pythian alliance estate property previously owned by the convention in this state.
With a divided constituency it will be next to impossible for these Baptists to regain control of this valuable property, which means that both the denomination and race will be the loser in this matter. The set of men should be entrusted with leadership who will assume such a selfish and mercenary attitude and pursue a destructive policy as to cause his or their followers to lose all the connection property, which had been accumulated by the toll, sweat, sacrifice and blood of the unfortunate and well high impoverished members of the local churches and state organizations. If the amount of money spent by these denominational leaders during the past 28 months, for lawyers' fees and court costs, had been devoted to the conventional causes and agencies, it is doubtful if the denomination would have lost its valuable holdings through receivership sale. Yet most of these bellicoses brother and pugnacious preachers have been disposed to the fact that "in house divided against itself can not stand," and warned their auditors to refrain from internal strife in their domestic, religious, fraternal, commercial and civic activities. It is unfortunate for the membership of this convention that their state organization has been permitted to fall upon such evil days, and that all the contributions and efforts of the past five years have been the transfer of this property to the Pythian grand lodge of Texas.
Since all these holdings have been lost to the denomination, it is our presumption that these warring leaders will inform their duped followers that they will repurchase the property and reclaim it for the denomination and race; but if they were unable to retain their control of these holdings when the indebtedness against same was contested in possession of the amount by law, they will have the conventional property, how can these hapless leaders finance any scheme to redeem and regain all this property?
If they did not have sense enough to save it from court sale, by what means will they come in possession of so much sense at this late hour and obtain about $50,000 with which to get back these valuable holdings?
Was it far easier to save and hold the property than to perish it off from their hands and then attempt to redeem it afterwards?
What kind of leadership is this that infects and infests the Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention of Texas, anyhow? What is the matter with the Baptist laymen that they have assented and consented to such a damnable and diabolical program? When one observes how many Negro leaders are selling out and betraying their ignorant followers, it begins to appear that the greatest cause with which the race is afflicted is a sorry and insulting one. Truly, the Baptists of Texas, having sown to the winds, are reaping the whirlwind, but they have no one to blame for their present plight and dilemma but themselves.
ETHICS IN MEDICAL PROFESSION
The question of professional ethics, as applied to some local medical practitioners, was precipitated to the fore very strikingly here recently, when a self-appointed committee of ebony-hued doctors issued out the poster of a Houston church and praised with said minister to deny a certain member of their profession the right to give a health lecture in said church.
The main charge preferred against this local physician-lecturer of color, according to information conveyed to The Informer, was that he is not a member of the local medical society, and that he conducts his lectures chiefly for advertising purposes, which act in "metrical."
This is interesting, if true, for The Informer fears that many of our local doctors would hardly "pass inspection," if a rigid standard of ethics were applied to them. We argue against newspaper advertising as unethical, yet these same men seek every opportunity to advertise themselves and advance their interests in the several churches and organizations in which they hold membership.
Others have termed certain acts of their brother doctors as unethical, when some of these selfsame critics and criterions have been accused of performing illegal operations upon women and girls.
When physicians first began to write prescriptions for whiskey, several local race doctors contended that it was unethical for a doctor to engage in writing such prescriptions, yet the Negro physicians in Houston today, who do not write liquor prescriptions, are not unethical. That even some of these physicians do not follow a rigid rule of "professional ethics" when writing such prescriptions.
Many Negroes give as their reason for not patronizing Negro doctors the fact that some of our race physicians are too garrulous—talk too much about their patients, their illness and other things.
It is stated that some local physicians, who are always "nosing" into other people's business and are known to talk about their patients to other physicians, their office assistants and even to other patients and friends, are consummate sticklers for "professional ethics"; yet every day some of them are losing patients, it seems that their penchant for discussing and exposing their patients to others.
The average physician, it matters not what he is taught in the medical college to the contrary, is pursuing the profession chiefly as a means of making money, just as men in most other professions are doing; and this question of ethics is never raised against another physician until it appears that the "unethical" man has more than his share of business and the resultant financial emoluments.
Going still further in their "ethical" practice, we know race physicians who seem to delight in "knocking" and berating other Negro physicians, failing to realize that to undermine racial faith and confidence in one Negro physician is calculated, yea, destined to work similarly regarding and toward all Negro physicians.
We have known Negro surgeons to rush away from hospitals, and to take care of patients on the operating table or immediately thereafter, and broadcast the news that Dr. so-and-so was responsible for said death; or criticise his fellow physician, in the presence of laymen, for his improper diagnosis and treatment of some case, or his surgical technique in performing both major and minor operations.
Yes, we have known of instances where some of the "ethical" physicians have been accused of being the ones which hardly smacked of the ethical, from any man's standard of ethics; yet this lik is the first to yell and clamor about "professional ethics."
As between the physician who gives free health lectures to the people and, perchance, reaps some business as a result of such service to humanity, and the physician who assumes the "holier-than-thou" attitude and at the same time is committing both malpractice and the practice of his profession, give us the former every time.
The Informer would like to see our colored physicians, both here and elsewhere, maintain a high standard of professional ethics, but to do this our medical friends must be consistent and cease to insult or mock the patient. "What the cat said to the kitten, "He that bibteth shall be bitten!"
PICKING LOCAL INTERRACIAL BODY
While The Informer does not approve of any method which permits a white organization or a group of white citizens to select the colored members of the local Commission on Interracial Cooperation, the Informer values the ability by the local Chamber of Commerce have long since been deposed as "race leaders" and have lost virtually all their influence with their own people, this paper is delighted that the commission is to be smaller in size.
Even as the personnel now stands, as recommended last week by the chamber (a rather new departure in selecting commission members), it is still too large and unwieldy to function properly.
The Informer has contended repeatedly that the joint commission should not exceed eleven members, and this paper has always deprecated the former practice of adding so many members to this local body as to make it appear as if a convention were in session. But getting back to this recent method of selecting the membership of the Houston commission: The Informer opposes such action on the ground that it defeats the very purpose of this interracial movement, which provides that each race shall select its own members on the various local committees. Of their race best suited and fitted for membership on such commission, the Negroes also know the members of their race who can best serve their interests, unhampered and unhindered, in such an important community work.
The day has passed when other races can hope to name and pick Negro leaders, for the average white person's idea of a Negro's interest, unhampered and unhindered, in variance with the average Negro's conception of a racial leader.
The interracial commission is not supposed to be a white-washing, camouflaging organization, where the colored members must be silent spectators, but it is supposed to be a body of liberal-minded, forward-looking, courageous and patriotic citizens, who lose sight of racial lines in tackling and adjusting problems affordable relations between the two races in a community and state.
Even though the Houston Chamber of Commerce should assist in financing the work of the local commission, the Negroes should still exercise their rights to choose the colored members of the body, and to pick men for this important task who will function and not be mere automats and manikins.
The Informer has no fight to wage upon any member of the commission, white or black, but this paper is opposed to the new selection such members, particularly the colored commissioners.
While discussing the new method of selecting interracial commission members, the Informer would like to know what this local body has done regarding the imperialistic and discriminatory order issued here some weeks ago by some City Hall official or attach, banning Negro clerks from the fish and oysters站 in the City Market.
The commission has not done anything toward having this edict revoked, we would like to know the attitude of the colored members of the commission on this matter.
Do these colored commissioners endorse this autocratic and kaiserian action which summarily abrogates the inherent and constitutional rights of American citizens?
Has any City Hall functionary the authority to promulgate an ordinance that tends to fan the fires of racial rancor and antipathy, which denies certain citizens the right to make an honest living?
Unless the Houston commission is willing to undertake the solution and ancillary settlement of such matters, then the organization

Political Patience of the Negro
Political Patience of the Negro
By KELLY MILLER, Howard University, Washington, D. C.
Instructor Christian Smuts, the ole of promise and delays is repeated statement of, South Africa, ad infinitum.
General fan Christian Simuta, the Boe stateman of South Africa brought down the wrath of Afro-Colombian nationalists and likened the Negro to the ass in his manifestation of the quality of patience. 'All likeness to a certain class of animals is usually regarded as dislike, but the animal is accepted as a compulsion. To compare a man to a lion, an eagle, a tiger or race horse is to but emphasize a admirable qualities. But to call a man a tiger or race horse as an insult. We may accept the comparison in certain particulars and reject it in others. "Be ye as wise as a serpent" conveys an entirely disgrace, meaning from "a snake in the mud."
There is a limit beyond which patience ceases to be a virtue. Practical wisdom consists in finding that wisdom.

General Smuts was unfortunate in the animal simile employed rather than the quality which he intended to extol. The as is usually noted for stupidity and stubbornness, rather than for his endurance and paused patience. The as is also which the South African stateran engaged the Negro-world was universally admitted to be unfortunate. That the general himself took this view of his verbal faux was evidenced by his pallidory explanation in response to Dr. Mcelroy's resentment and a subsequent contract of racial sensibilities in the Howard University conference.

But linguistics aside, let us advert to the Negro's essential qualities which General Smuts had in mind to depict.
Hustling for business is Ernest J. Peters, district passenger agent for the Southern Pacific Lines.
The Negro is endowed with patience to an extent and degree which surpasses the ordinary Anglo-Saxon tool of midst of a strong, arrogant majority may develop patience as a protective device. Long habitual and forced observance of this quality may stamp it with a certain degree of bravery to be a racial characteristic. The race is not always the striver or the cunning or the strong, but to him that endureth to the end. Long sustained patience is apt to lead to spindleiness doiliness and cowardice. Frederick Douglas used to say that the slave who was whipped easiest was whipped offenest. On the other hand the slave who was killed was the yoke of slavery was killed.

The Negro's amazing patience and endurance in the field of politics will serve to amply demonstrate the importance of the political domain to find in the political domain the assertive, aggressive characteristics which brook no reserve and no delay. As Senator Obama of Kansas used to say, "The game of force. The game is played in the active voice and present tense. William Monroe Trotter, our most ardent instant reformer, instils on every right our own moral authority. in the cultural development of the race and this workby local institution. American Negro music was paid a fee of $100,000 by the famal, famous Italian mntem (composer, conductor), in a copyrighted book and is reproduced in Sunday's edi- tion.
Signor Mascarone is quoted as saying, "We are the United States in the United States are real music, we are European, I am American, we are a sense of true music. We must get back to the simple, the harmonious, the real song, what I find in Negro music. It is to return to nature, to what is true and real, to the real ring of the human soul in them. In the Negro songs there is melody, inspiration, a spontaneous outburst of life in nature. It is not a cerebral product, I admit, but it is true music."
Frederick Doughas, who possessed many lion-like qualities, was as mild and patient as the other members of the Republican party was the ship; all else the sea. Although the "grand old party," even in his day, had grown indifferent to the war, and patience which astonished us a generation after his death. Not only so, but he had little patience with those who were more selfish and the love of his lonely wife.
This tribute to Native Negro music coming from such a distinguished musician is a celebration of the American Negros to have more music than they have been styled as the only genuine musician.
Homely Philosophy
By Georgina Douglas Johnson
If we trace the long line of Negro politicians from the sage of Ancortina to the Lincoln Johnson of Georgia, we discover that same undying passion for the party which Lincoln and Grant made glorious. I have watched the conspicuous Negro political leaders for forty years. During each recurrent presidential campaign, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King master rides the ass. At the end of the journey, he has been hitched, as it were, to the outside post, there to stand and wait in patience until the next campaign, when he bent his back to the ground. The Negro politician, like Paul's definition of charity, believeth all things, hopest all things, endureth all things. The political manipulators rely with never falling assurance upon the Negro's aims quinnid of dumbbells, the beginning of each administration, he is urged to wait until certain essential administrative projects are out of the way when his cause will be given generous consideration. But, also, the Republican is even when the whole ch
