one thing which always impresses this writer about San Antonio is the large number of students awarded and occupied by our people, and the fine streets in most of the Negro residential areas. Where these streets are not naked, the other greener or filled in with able students, we obtain them from the ground in terrain adjacent to the Alamo Cemetery and a beautiful library building and auditorium for its colored cemetery, which will be open every week. It is, indeed, an imposing structure and will fill a long-fell need. We are acquainted with other friends, including Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Leonard, at whose lovely home we had dinner with the students of McCallough is a native House and still like our native burgery in the well-established business and we succeed. Will his brother, Will Leopold, is a well-known drug store at Fine and Iowa streets, where his spouse serves as his able supervisor J. T. Duncan, with a known insurance man; Dr. A. C. Whittier, prominent surgeon, Dr. E. H. Givens, Austin dentist, and Dr. E. H. Givens, Austin dentist, we meet in San Antonio.

Fairstead stated that it was the plan of the directors to write the first amount this amount over to the agency director and his department when he takes charge sometimes during the coming months to him, and that he thought that it should be to all Texas Ngerson, when he takes charge of the company Jones, Samuel Taylor, Dr. R. President Fairchild also stated that, under the direction of the company, whose identity Mr. Fairchild still refuses to disclose, the new, progressive ideas which this official of the company plans to install when he takes charge of the company. Mr. Fairchild further stated that, in his role, he will develop companies and that these methods of agency development and planning which have hitherto been used in the company will be used in the company. Author of Ill-Fated Anti-Lynching Bill—
District Almost Entirely Inhabited By Black Ectors—Simmons Delivers Stirring Speeches
By R. C. FISHER
St. Louis, Mo.—(ANP)—A brief glance into the political life of the Negro in St. Louis, we now find Waltlall M. Moore, member of the Missouri state legislature, ambition for a seat as a representative in the United States congress, intentions to enter the race for the Republican congressional nomination from the TD trifect against L. C. Dyer, white, who has been representing the largely populated Negro district for many years. Moore has the formal announcement of his candidacy last Monday night, a Lincoln-Douglas celebration at Tbernacle Baptist Church, allowing a spectacular address delivered by Ronco C. Simmons, Lincoln minister. Colonel Wimmer, in his address, of St. Louis offers the best opportunity to praise the record the Moore has made as a member of the Missouri legislature, and urged his fellow Democrats to fight for the place, where, according to Simmons, Moore, because of his lawmaker, could serve them better.
Battling Among themselves
It is understood that our political party has failed to organize an attempt to send candidates to the group as a representative to the twelfth congressional district secretly of a Republican senator.

New York City—(ANP)—Declare that they never had stood for and did not now stand for segregation of colored people, and avowing that the same stint of free movement of colored people, and low cemeteries, the Greater New York Federation of Churches ended a misunderstanding which began three weeks ago and aimed at the organizing stands.
The ministers of the inter-demonstration ministers meeting were in session at the Salem Methamphetamine Evance when Dr. William B. Miller executive secretary of the federation, appeared and read a letter from the New York Federation of Churches. The federation's letter, "Owing to the situation which has recently arisen on action of the press, we desire to reaffirm our position of the following points:
"We never have stood and do not stand for all others of colored people of this city. The same right of free movement belongs to all others of our fellow citizens.
"We are opposed to race prejudice and do everything in our power to remove it.
"We believe in the equality of opportunity and treatment of all people."
"We stand on the bread principles of brotherhood and Christian fellowship." We desire to work in the closest cooperation with our brethren in the church, and we desire to foster fellowship between the colored church and the church, realizing how essential this cooperation is to the extension of the church. We desire to cooperate with our colored brethren in removing the barriers which they now face in living together, which they now face in living together.

This corporation is desired to satisfy a long felt want and to fill an urgent need. For a minor investment, the corporation of homes have been lost by the gross purchasing property through harb foreclosures of land contracts, by some times, and as scrupulums as well as legitimate methods. A ZEPHYR, light as an angel's breath, rustled the leaves of oak and maple in Pickens' valley and wafed, caddling, lazily, thousands of distinct streams of hickory smoke, up to the highlands above.
On the first evening, of October's hay, brownd blue ones, and the slowly glowing ones, a huge red fire, tinselting, with a touch super, each object in Cedar Springs, a baitless little town in the neck of the valley, and from the four directions, hungry, tinselting, trudging homeward. Each soon turned into his own little cottage, leaving

He was just about to leave the house when window two two blasting headlights shone. "That's just what I always said," she said. Then it was lawn. The car stopped; only a sec. he repeated from a female angle was open, then it was gone. So soon he heard a child in the village known by every child in the village ped into the front door. He did not "that's what I always said" be re- seized him as he stood in the shadow. "The she's made for me to be the

"I must tell him," she soliloquied.
"I must—I can't stand it."
"Oh, so early?" he returned.
"Smart girl"
How could he hurt him, she wondered, could she else, why wouldn't he see things her way?
The afternoon were slowly away, capped by a beautiful sunset, surrounded by hours and hours of quietness and peace before the storm.
So October's bright blue weather passed with the weeks, and November's games and games and games and turkeys. It was the night before Thanksgiving, a for him over all occasion, a appear and goatheil. A riddy fire bured in room, and its blue and red and yellow舞ings, danced in glaze, wove shadows on the pale orchid canvas drawer, and the curtain before her dressing table, combing her unobbed hair which fell in silky way against the ground, and she ground out gravily against the astring background of her negligence. David slimmed in the slim, graceful figure, the tender curves and the chony beauty of 'My goodness, but you're lovely', he whispered, as he sat down on the table, wondering why yet you married me

TOOTH BRUSH
One of the proper ways of assuring ourselves good health well, healthy teeth and proper observance of the use of a toothbrush is one of the most important maintaining proper mouth or oral hygiene. To attempt to give the origin of toothpaste to the toothbrush bit of fascinating history, as referencing in literature is quite confusing.
However, we do know that the use of the modern tooth brush is comparable to the others of us we have not as yet seen the modern tooth brush, but rather we know that the use of us who are guilty of not keeping our mouths in a hygienic condition, makes us liable to the use of the tooth brush). There was possibly some excuse for some of us not using a tooth brush, but we know that green stick that had been flattened to the mouth may not only were unhealthy to the mouth but were dangerous to our health in a sanitary condition. But thanks to science, we have a variety of tooth brushes that are not useful, and there is little excuse for any of us not possessing one of these for our own health. The tooth brush should be selected according to the instruction of your dentist, and we know that to the purpose it is to serve, that is whether the condition of the mouth demands a soft, medium or stiff bristle. The size of the dental arch or the factor in the selection of the brush. One of the reasons some of us do not brush our teeth is the ingestion of the teeth, when we have followed the proper procedure, is the correct one for our mouth.
Having selected the proper brush, have seen that an aseptic before and after use should be an anseptic condition. Rinsing the brush before and after use, in a mild condition, will prevent the formation of the way of the dust or in a well protected case such as can be obtain. Are soils are sold, is the care that should be given the brush to insure its cleanliness. The tooth brush should be changed often. The life of the average tooth brush, if properly used, is about three years. The idea of keeping a brush for one or more years only goes to prove that we are not properly using the brush.

In Christine, Bastiatella and Cicerone work and have done most of His mighty works, but the people deliberately his hearts against him and his Message. Tyre and Sidon and didolators, but they will be more tolerably dealt with in the Day of Judgment than will those who will fully reject Jesus Christ. and who are babies in spirit (v. 29-30).
There were some among the people who heard Jesus with childlike faith. They believed that Jesus was the Messiah and that their hearts to receive Him.
I. The Antagonism to Jesus
In chapter eleven we saw the shameful indifference of the Jews to their King. In this chapter we see the positive and bitter antagonism manifested in the day of the occasion of their wicked detention was Christ's relation to the Sabbath.
Sons of Man in Lord of the Sabbath (v. 18).
The hungry disciples were plucking corn on the Sabbath. With this the Christian church, led by Charles the Great, and showed us a purpose in instituting the Sabbath was to serve man's biggest interests and to give them a greater place (1). He is greater than their greatest King, David (v. 5, 4). (2) He is greater than their priest and priestess. (3) He is the temple (v. 6). The temple, with its gorgeous rites and ceremonies, was but typified of Himself. (4) He is the very Lord of the Sabbath. He is the very Lord of the Sabbath.
2. Healing the withered hand (v. 9-14).
3. order that they might accept Him, they asked, "it is lawful to heal on the Sabbath days?" Jesus' reply was both a question and a declaration.
4. The unapparable sin (v. 22-32).
The occasion of their blasphemy against the Holy Ghost was the casting out of the demon. In this act, they were accused of casting out demons. The effect of this miracle was twofold: (1) Upon the multitude they were anaclit, and cried for help; (2) Upon the Pharisees. When they heard what the people were saying, their aneurysm and entamic malfunction out demons by the prince of the demons. With unanswerable logic, He met their accusations and deceived them. He upheld them upon them their awful guilt. They attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to the devil. This Christ calls for the Holy Ghost for which there is no pardon.
The Last Step Wine
It is the last step that wins, and there is no place in the pilgrim's program where so many shunners turk in the air. The pilgrim is the talons of the celestial city. It is when heaven's heights are full in view that hell's gate is most persistent and full of deadly peril—A. R. Simpson.

MERCHANTS SEEK COFFEE TO OFFER NEGRO PATRONS
New York City—(ANP)—With its chain of cooperative greenery marching the 150 mark in membership, the Colored Merchants' Association, organized and sponsored by the National New York Merchants Association, occupied with the selection of a special blend of coffee for distribution by Negro merchants. A nationwide contest has been launched for selection of the blind by the Merchants Association, Holsey, secretary of the Business League and organizer of the grocer, who has offices here at 2814 Eighth Avenue, nearly fifty citizens' committees have already made application of their cities in the competition.
The blend will include some of the best South American coffee, according to Mr. Hosley and will include coffee from the little West African region in the blend, and the spending may be commensal. This will be in line with the association's plan for production in as well as in selling. Four blends will be prepared by one of the best known coffee importers, and the spending will be sent to committees in the various cities, who will be aided by the association. The public will be invited to sample each blend, made in apparel porchers, and signify its choice by number. The blend will also be submitted by the samplers.
Prices of $23 each will be paid for the best name and slogan. When the blend will appear in stores owned by Negro grocers throughout the nation, it will be attractively labeled and displayed.
A famous physician discussed the formula when he asked, "WHAT ANNOXEANODE cleans the head and shoulders?" He said it cleans ANNOXEANODE that we suggest you try a bottle at your own pace. It is an improvement immediately, you may return the bottle, and your money will be promptly refunded.

A grand jury several months and returned six indictments against the bankers and offenders and offenders but this case captured partially against the re-arrested and was declared involuntary. According to an article which appeared in several of the daily papers, some of the Texas Republican leaders are expressing their opposition to the civil status in this state which makes it mandatory upon all political parties, which polled more than 100,000 votes for their gubernatorial candidates at the last general election, to conduct primary elections instead of party conventions.
The Lincoln family migrated to the state of Indiana. The family was indied in the great. But is the more important measure of his family's history, the frontiers of one world to the frontiers of another. It had gone on for some years, prevailed to a long where the idea of freedom, for all men, was so important, as the alougent DeFocqueline "labor is confounded with slavery, but here" it identified with prosocialism.
In the 1928 campaign, the Republican candidate for governor of Texas polled more than 100,000 votes, and thus the Republican party, under the law, will be compelled to hold primary elections during the summer.
One of the Republican leaders has been quoted as saying that the state should bear the expenses of such primary elections, and that the same polling parties and election judges should serve both political parties in this state at such partisan primaries.
How vast was the gain for freedom in this seemingly insignificant event that prevailed in the land in which he grew up, was the greatest individual force in overthrowing the idea of slave labor in the land where he was born.
Under the convolution system party control is usually vested in the hands of a minority group—a political coterie or regime—which can ignore and disregard the will and wishes of the majority. The convention system enables party leaders to manipulate the steam roller with telling effect and to build up and perpetuate a political dynasty or ring.

The primary election system gives every voter a chance to select those who are to be party nominees, as well as those who are to guide and direct the partisan organization in the city, county and state, and takes the control out of the hands of the designing few and places it in the hands of the masses.
The fundamental principle of democracy is popular rule, where electors are elected by choice both for party nominees and public officials, and any course different to this is subversive of American ideals and courses.
Bishop E. Thomas Deyb, head of the Arkansas diocese of the Protestant Church, conducted a meeting of meetings at the Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, was the principal speaker before the meeting at the Monday noon lunch.
Whether the state has a right to conduct and shoulder the expenses incident to partisan primaries, is a legal question that the Infermer does not attempt to discuss or determine here; but the United States Supreme Court, in the Nixon case from El Paso, held that the state could not enact and enforce class legislation which seeks to prescribe qualifications for partisan electors.
The distinguished private told his auditors that the average Nigerian businessman should never enter into business without a religious duty, and that denominationism should never enter into business without a religious duty. The grocery stores, operated by members of two respective denominations, failed because the pastor of one church refused to attend a service. He also urged the business men to oracle what they preach, contend with, and patronize certain concerned operators by members of other races and then condemn his race for not patronizing the businessmen.
Pristian primaries are rather expensive, we admit, yet the Texas Democrats, who seek nominations on their party's ticket, bear their brunt of this expense; and the Republicans, laying claims as a major political party in this state, ought to be willing to follow the lead set by their Democratic fraters. Do the Texas Republican leaders object to the primaries on the ground of the expense, or is this objection based on the ground that the result of such an election might overthrow the reign of pie-cake Republicans? In order to maintain a vent-pocket edition of a Republican organization, are the Republican leaders of Texas willing to discourage party growth in this state, and will they endeavor to conceive some scheme to circumvent the law in the July primaries?
He said that the ministers should be able to learn from the way he how to live here on earth, in order that they might become important factors in the race and so on.
Texas Republicans, who are opposed to machine rule, will do well to keep their eyes on some of the party leaders in this state, for primary pranks of 1926 are still fresh in the memory of many Texas Republicans.
The committee on summer school of music of M. H. McGruder, chairman, rewrote the program with Mrs. M. H. Fowler of Porter College of Negro Musicians, aposos of the project, and that all details were worked out by the meeting next Monday.
BUSSES AS COMMON CARRIERS
According to a decision handed down recently by the North Carolina Supreme Court, motor buses are common carriers under the law and must provide accommodations for Negro passengers just as they have been providing for whites.
Mr. Corvine, planner and business manager of the dressing club and informed the organization that he was representing the fashion factory in Houston in the meantime.
This opinion strengthens the position assumed by The Informer when motor buses first begin to operate extensively in Southern states, and the decision of the highest legal tribunal in the Tar Heel State should have a fawtracting effect.
L. G. Luster, farm demonstration agent for Harris County, invited the students to participate in a Negro farm, and H. P. Cater, secretary of the club was named as chairman of the delegation to accrue grants from expertors and workers on this farm.
Not that Negroes were or are desirous of riding in busses where they are not wanted or desired, but no common carrier, employing the highways made possible by the taxes of all the people even though the bus corporation is a private concern, has a right to refuse to provide accommodations for all citizens and prospective passengers, regardless of color, creed or class.
With O. P. Dewalt as chairman,
the director of the directing head of the Chamber of Commerce on some important matters,
are John W. Rice and Oscar J.
That businesses are common carriers has long been the contention of The Informer, and Texas will do well to study the decision of the North Carolina Supreme Court, for several of the bus lines in this state absolutely refuse to carry colored passengers. No common carrier—train, bus, street car or whatnot—has any right to operate which refuses to haul colored passengers, for the Negro is just as much of an American citizen as any other racial group in our polygot population; and, in some instances, the Negro is more of an American citizen than many others enjoying and carrying all the rights and progratives warranted to citizens of

After many years of traveling throughout the United States and meeting most of the leading and wealthy Negroes in every community, large and small, I can count upon the individuals who have denied that they were race men, loyal to their group anarchies and eager for the Negro to be freed. Practically every Negro in this country, when coronaed and questioned, practically lay down his life to see that full citizenship rights and receiving full protection of the law. Here and there I have encountered an individual who has denied the fate of his people, but such an individual has philanthropist or research foundation would contribute sufficient money to the study, I can very confidently say, of the matter of full social equality sent broadcast to all Negro business and government in the United States, would be returned by at least 90 per cent answered in the
From the results of such a question, we would naturally assume that those who had answered affirmatively were least contributing a little hand to the cause, and that they claim to desire. A little knowledge of the "balanced tenth" of Afrikaans would show just the opposite to be the hard and bitter and tropical fact is that the great bulk of the Nebraska population has not caused this matter, not what cause it is in the United States that is carrying on this fight for Negroes, the Nation of Colored People, has to spend most of its time and energy, vainly perplexed by the education educated of Negroes to give three or four dollars to help the poor, to $600,000 a year after constant begging, a white people.
Infantile Paralysis
Governmental Negro Employes
BY KELLY MILLER, Howard University, Washington, D. C.
Recently I received a letter of which the following extract will be fully explanatory. "Sometime ago, I read an interview with the appointee officer may my personal interview with the appointee officer and the Civil Service." I copied this article and forwarded it to President Hoover, accompanied by a letter citing an experience of my own as example of the practice you condemn."
This letter with enclosure was forwarded by the president to the Civil Service Commission for consideration. The commission is composed of two parts artist side-steping of the main issue, and three parts speeches justification of race discrimination in the practical operation of the civil service. The letter states that there is no cause for disquisition of part of members of the colored race in regard to their employment positions, but rather of self congratulation.
and in the end this would not discrimination complained of the appointee officer may my personal interview with the appointee officer and the Civil Service." A bulletin or the Department of Labor was inclined, issued September 28, 1928 (note the date), pointing out the NGOs employed in the country and the salaries which they receive. It is disclosed that 51, $25 Norges were then employed at a combined salary of $25,655,990, since 1914, the increase had risen from $14,650,790 to just figures cited. This was calculated to show, not only the present generous attitude of the government towards the employment of Norges, but also the growing liberalism, indeed magnificent, but wholly relevant to the grievance of the complainant. The vast bulk of these positions fall below the classified grade and outside of the jurisdiction of the government, no more to do with them than with the appointment of cabinet officers or foreign diplomats. The complainant raises the issue of racial discrimination in the classified service, and is in the minority of the number of Norges on the pay bill and the salaries they draw.
The bulletin in question was unobediently issued with political purpose afterthought. Its appearance in the midst of the late presidential view. It was certainly used as a campaign document with telling effect. Negro newspapers and spellbinders quoted these figures with great gas to justify the Republican presidential campaign for continued support. Indeed this bulletin runs on all fours with another one which lies before me, issued by Tammany Hall during the recent mayoral contest in 1973. We good provision for her black allies. In 1971, under Republican regime, there were 247 Negroes on the city pay roll, with a total salary scale of $387.36. But in August, the Negroes, the rule, the Negro city employees had swollen to $275 with a total pay roll of $382.376. Both the G. O. P. and the Tammany Tiger expect the Negro to support its fortune for the master's curb. Such concrete arguments are easily understandable by the politician, white or black. But we do not support the Democrat. But we do not descend to the lower plane of political politics. Indeed this commission was established for the very purpose of eliminating politics in the civil service. O, the shades of the George W. Bush
In dealing more directly with the complaint of racial discrimination, the commissioner's reply is a model of plausibility and specious reasoning. The complaint is not a principle, but only in practice. All applicants are admitted to the examination; and all papers are rated fairly. I have never disputed or even doubted this. No complaint is addressed at this point. But according to law, the commissioner appoints officers, with whose race and color he is previously made acquainted. Experience shows that the Negro is thus eliminated every time. The Civil Service Commission knows that the commissioner will not wilt stigmatize itself by attempting to deny it. Why attempt to assign injunction by honor words? Recognizing the law in principle while negating it in practice by the Civil Service Commission pushes us to the conclusion that the commissioner is appointed. Several years ago, I suggested to the commission the substitution of the finger print method of the conceded necessity of establishing the identity of the examinee and the appointee. The objection was that the appointee. The objection would require a staff of supervise
and in the end this will not prevent discrimination complained of, since the appointing officer may request a personal interview with the applicant prior to appointment, and than learn of his racial identity. There is no way to prevent the color of the applicant from figuring in the consideration of the appointment. The constitution places the selection of his assistants in the hand of the head of the several government departments. To meet this requirement, the Service Commission must certify more than one name, else there would be left no margin of choice. The president of the United States is ultimately responsible for every individual] on the government pay roll from charwman to cabinet officer. The president will have to pass valliation violation of the spirit and purpose of the law by hiding behind the shadow of its letter. The civil service commissioners are cohere of the president and sensitive to his sentiment. If the president should say that all American citizens, white or black, will be valliation violation of the civil service, it will be so. Otherwise, it will be otherwise.
There was a president once, Gover-
Cleveland, by name, and a civil service
commissioner, Ylept Roosevelt
and his wife, Eleanor, and blacks should be treated without discrimination or prejudice in appointment to the classified service of the government. Will Herbert Herbert be tried? Are there any other questions? That is the question.
