This is the first and great commandment. The second is like unto it. Thoel shalt love thy neighbor as thy self. PRIMARY TOPIC—Jesus Teaching in the Temple. JUNIOR TOPIC—Jesus in the Temple INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR TOP- INTERMEDIATE AND NERMOR TOP-IC-How to Become a Good Citizen, INTERMEDIATE AND NERMOR TOP-IC-Who is a Good Citizen? In the previous pamble, the responsibilities of the subjects of the top-ic are listed, and the light of the obligation to render to the householder the fruits of his vineyard. In this one the emphasis is placed on the importance of the king. Christ's kingdom is infinitely more than a state law and organization. 1. The Marriage Feast (v. 1.13). The benefits of the kingdom are set forth under the figure of marriage. 1. The king's invitation depicted. 1. The king's invitation depicted. The previous parable showed the attitude of the Jewish people toward the king, who is one carries us beyond the cross, even to the present age of the Gentiles. The marriage feast which the king invited guests, represents the gracious offer of God to give joy and blessing made in honor of his son, and is an exceeding rich one. The repeated invitations show God's earnestness in showing his love for his son, but selected it, but made light of it and hurried on to their world business, showing their disgrace for the sake of the king, and theience to the messengers of the king, even killing them. Primarily, this is the result from Christ's crucifixion to the destruction of Jerusalem, but it has its counterpart in the present day. The king's invitation accepted (v. 80. 1). When those first invited, the king sent his servants to others, and invited guests. The Lord's table has been prepared at infinite cost. 3. The king inspecting the guests As a result of this inspection, one was found without a wedding garment and had to be brought to the regulation of the feast was an inault to the king. The wedding garment provided for each one invited to the Lord's table is the righteousness of II. 11. The Wonderful Wisdom of the King (v. 15), 12-34. That which called forth this wisdom was the leader of the leaders to entrap Jesus. 1. The tribute money (v. 15-22). The Herodians sought to test his wisdom and to prove that, therefore, they came to him with the subtle question: "Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?" For the Herodians have conceived the impression of endowment of the Roman government, and "No" would have brought him to the court. The Herodians have conceived the reply to this question is the final word on the Christian's relationship to gift government. 2. Concerning the resurrection The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection. To entreat them they pleaded before the Lord that he had seven servants—as to whose wife she would be in the resurrection. The Scriptures make it clear that marriage is only a human benefit and human beings will be as angered of God. The great commandment in the law (vv. 84-89). The Lord commanded (vv. 89-90). The Lord commanded the Lord the God with all his glory. Suppose and unified love to God in the first second commandment (vv. 89, 90). This is like the first, in that it connotes in love. The measure of love to my neighbor is my self-love. The question put by Christ (vv. 83-89). The mystery of Christ being the same as the same thing being David's Lord, the same as who had sought to conquer Him. Our Prayers Our prayers are ships. We send them to no uncertain port. CHARGE DENTAL CLINIC UNFAIR TO NEGRO RACE Los Angeles, Cal.—(ANP)-How the dental clinic of the University of Southern California discriminates against Negro patients, was revealed morning when a letter written by Anne C. T卡尔曼 was made public. Mr. T卡尔曼 is one of the most localized localists and in his letter described that he sent the letter he went to the University Dental Clinic for examination and treatment. He raced his case and took X-ray pictures of the infected teeth. He returned and was handed a slip for extraction and some bridge-work and was assigned an agent after looking over the X-rays and the diagnosis, informed Mr. T卡尔曼 that he would have to be transfixed and advised him that he could not do the bridge-work. Continuing, Mr. T卡尔曼 states that he charged and advised him of the information the Negro student had given him and be glad to recommend him to a private dentist for the work. Mr. T卡尔曼 refused his treatment as the clinic stating that so far every satisfactorily done, but to no avail. He left the clinic and returned the next day and after being forced to take an audience with the instructor, who as before refused to assign a white shirt to the dentist, will impress him to recommend him to a private dentist who would do the work perhaps cheaper than it could be done. Seeking the situation, Mr. Talamon asked to see the superintendent. He was advised that the superintendent had been turned in and asked for an interview with the superintendent and again he was advised that the superintendent had been turned in and asked for the report, he went out and called the superintendent on the telephone and on the telephone and in and out as he was asked. he advised her that he was a Negro, she told him: "Well, I will be frank with you, our policy is not to emulate him, and we will teach them to work on colored patients, and there is a dearth of colored students this year, so there is nothing I can do in the matter." This case has caused quite a stir in local and several organizations are planning to protest against this practice at the university, which is one of the largest in the country and usually attended by Negro students. In discussing the case pointed to the graduate and hang out their shingles they are not embarrassed to work on courses and take the money for the work. BURGHARDT DuOiis "I can't individual, nor the army as a whole, but the everlasting team-work of the business crowd." Not long after the selection of the characters who form this list of personalities a friend of mine, commenting upon the selection, said to me: "I see Mr. DuOiis has been selected; well, whether most folks like him personally or not, or whether they agree always with his methods of doing things or will agree that he is an outstanding Negro, and that he is great." And I think so, too; and indeed I feel that most people who have kept up with the program will at least admit that Mr. DuOiis is an outstanding personality. It is hard to determine, even with the race in the army or social status, the temptation to great to discuss his personality in the latter, to allow us to linger long on I would present to you, or at least give you to stimulate it, to take the DuBois to indicate that I before I try to present him or his work in any other field. And, indeed, as any biographer, I would not do that, because I but let us look at him: (1) He is quite fearless of criticism, a character that is not afraid of being hardened and certainly most certainly, Mr. DuBois could never have accomplished the work for the race that has been his greatest achievement, for this specific characteristic; (2) he is an outstanding foe of compromise, and it is his sacrifice of Negro rights or the degeneration of clean principles—and it is his consistent practice of its dictates that will play an invaluable part in writting the story of the race on the second of the race's importance. Two characteristics: Now let us watch this gentleman from Fifth Ave. and see how he manifests itself through these. Fearless of criticism indeed; for how many of the people he has brand of criticism equalled only in sharpness by the maliciousness of its only to come through "like a million of people," because he did not "break his neck," as it were, to champion the rather impracticable and even somewhat fatiguing race. The depth and scope of Mr. DuBois' superior training is better shown perhaps in the trend of his writings—compliments in the literary world Mr. DuBois is the author of "Suppression of the American Jvlcan War," "Darkwater," and "The Song of Black Polk." Mr. DuBois personality has not one single direct service, but he has repeatedly capitalized upon his uncommon knowledge for his food and indeed lies personal sacrifice, the foundation stone of greatness. As the editor of the Crisis, perhaps the race's most outstanding journal, Mr. DuBois has led the race and its progress; bringing to his aid, whenever needed, the resource-keeping organization—the Association for the advancement of Colored People—that is not in vain, for in time the Negro, as a race, will come to realize the importance of the labor and loftiness of his ideas; to treasure and cognizant of the axiom of progress as Kipling has expressed it, that "it's the everlasting teamwork of every bloomer." THE LARGES SELLING ASPIRIN IN THE WORLD FOR 10¢ St. Joseph's Pure ASPIRIN Philadelphia, Pa.—(ANP)—The eyes of the country are on Pennsylvania, and one of the most bitter primary fights ever known in the history of the Keystone State. Death of senior Boston Penrose has not been any definite leadership. The machine Quay lies from the Camerons, and of them Penrose was torn saunder by the fights of the smaller fry leaders who could not carry on. Penrose was so much the emperor and the lieutenant that he left no political heirs. The fight is centered around a number of candidates for office, the principal candidates being the senatorship and the United States senatorship. The gubernatorial office there are four candidates running in the Republican primaries. Mr. Shank Brown, a former attorney general, is in state, the Vare candidate. Mr. Brown is a Philadelphiaian. He went to that city years ago, and he was an ardent Democrat. A matter of fact he was a presidential elector in Philadelphia for the Bryan- Being ambitious he forsok his Democrat attorney of the Vare machine, which he has served with such fidelity that he has been accused of several years exerted considerable influence with it. As a matter of fact, he has served with the courts of Philadelphia, his former law partner, Alexander Simpson, and the courts of Pennsylvania. This is a saddlerable influence for a Democrat of a strongly Republican state such as Pennsylvania. This is not aid to be very friendly to the colored people. About a week or more ago when a woman's friend was to appear before it and address its members, Mr. Brown is reported to have appeared from the same platform with a Negro. There is a colored man by the Democrat date for the Republican nomination for governor of the Keystone State. There is neither wet nor dry and by reason of that straddle he is unsatisfactory to either wing of the Republican par- Then there is a candidate for governor by the name of Thomas W. Newcastle, Pa. Mr. Phillips is dripping wet and does not care who knows him. Newcastle is drawing strongly from the Brown vote. Brown will suffer the loss of thousands of wet votes in Philadelphia and many counties, because of straddling the wet issue. The new candidate for governor is Gifford Pinchot. He was elected in 1922 after a hard-fought primary fight in which he defeated George E. Lewis. Pinchot is a Pennsylvania. Mr. Alter was questioned by a Southern United States senator who the Dyer anti-lynching bill and Alter anti-slavery senator saying that the enactment of the Dyer bill would be worse than the one passed by the governor around theire of the colored voters of Pennsylvania and they helped to defiant him for the nomination. Of all the candidates in the field Gifford Pinchot is far and ahead of Pinchot is able, approachable, and able in a square deal for all. When he is asked to matter of according recognition to the colored people than any previous governor of Pennsylvania. He opened up a commission named Edward W. Henry as magistrate pressure was brought to hear on him to appoint a white woman. He named Charles Proffitt as commissioner. Edward W. $5,000 nenum. Ernest Attwell as trustee of Eastern Penitentiary, and he named James Buckton as commissioner. Buck County, Excepting in the case of Magistrate Henry these places were vacant, Governor Pinchot also saw that an anti-jailing bill was enacted by the legislature of Pennsylvania. PAGE SEVEN Chicago, Ill.—(ANP)—Alonso-Soneil Parham, sent to West Point MIL-01 commandment of Congressman Oscar DePriest, and honorably dismissed from his position in february because of deficiency in training in his final test to regain admission, although the letter informing him that he had failed came as a surprise to Parham who claimed to have made a mistake in his training and who felt he had passed, he stuck sturdily to his previously national and who felt he had passed, he was not being treated unfairly. On only one occasion he has given his name to the man he had any private feelings about and academy. That indication occurred when he dismissed from West Point. He had been shown a colored newspaper and he had asked for a back" and credited the statement to Parham. After he read the headline, he an apparent paraphrase of what some of the officials at West Point might have said, he read the statement he will, eh? "And if he felt anyone at West Point would assume that attitude, but he evaded saying so directly and closed himself from further questioning." It is understood that the academic board at West Point may agree to have some accredited university, he makes an exceptional record in mathematics. At the present time, Parham is planning to enter Northwestern University. He is trying to prevail upon him to go to either the University of Illinois or Chicago University. He will doubtless take the summer to make his mind up. No indication was given in the letter that he will pass the examination taken a month ago at Fort Sheridan of the mark he made. The letter simply stated that he had not passed. The grand rally of the colored voters to the Pinchot standard because they know he will maintain his principles. Mr. Pinchot is dry, but even at that point, Mr. Pinchot does not dry who know his record was so exceptional when he was governor because he was a strong leader, organized and unorganized, the farmer, and men and women in all of the states, and exemplifies efficiency and efficiency. The candidate, because he believes and exemplifies honesty and integrity, H. Holmes and Joseph R. Grumby for the senatorship is being bitterly criticized by the Brown, who is straddling the liquor question. Bohlen is distinctly wet and has a strong candidate for governor, and Grumby believes in law enforcement. From the three candidates for governor, and Grumby is stronger of the three senatorial candidates with the colored voters, not the white voters, whom they, but they believe he may. The primaries will be held May 20. They will be a political fortress will be in a political ferment. COLORED COLLEGE GETS MORE MONEY FROM DUKE STOCK Salisbury, N. C.—(ANP)—President W. J. Parker of North Caroling, as an associate justice of the United States Su- preme Court and President Hoover's latest act of nominating Jurist from a Northern state for this important judicial post, con- atitute a serious indictment against the South, Although the South has produced some outatanding legal Jumi- naries and brilliant jurists, few of them have ever been made members of the highest legal tribunal in this country; and Park. er’s defeat was due more to his racial prejudice than any other factor, for one opposing senator stated that he would never vote for a man to serve on the United States Supreme Court, who held to the view that fourteen millions of American citizens should hhave no voiee ar part in their government. During the senatorial debate on Parker's fitness, several South- ‘er newspapers came out with editorials endorsing Parker's anti Negro attitude, as enunciated in his eampaign for governor of the ‘Tar Hoel State in 1920 on the Republican tieket, when the judge sought to ride into office by vilifying and denotncing the Negro race. | One white weekly newspaper, published in Texas, carried front page editorial endorsing the North Carolina jurists attitude ‘against th Nogro, and added that every Dixie Democrat found himself in happy consonance with Parker's view; but also sound- ed a note of warning that if Parker were rejected it would mean that the South would not be considered hereafter in appointments to the United States Supreme Court—not for many years to come. Very few native Southerners have served as members of the highest court in this country, which fs a serious reflection upon this section; yet the argument is advanced that Southern judges, like the rejected Judge Parker af North Carolina, not only aré biased and prejudiced when it comes to the black race, but do not believe that Negroes should exercise and enjoy any of the con- stitutional rights and warranted guaranteed to all Americkn eti- zens. Instead of developing liberal Jeaders in the legal and Judicial field, the South has spent and ia still spending most of its time trying to enslave, disfranchise, jim-crow, segregate and outlaw the Negro, and tifus the leadership of the country—whether in religion, business, finance, industry, commerce, politics, law, sci ‘ence ari, muse or whatnot—comes from other sections of the re al ‘The truthfulness of the lute Dr. Booker ‘T, Washington's aft- repeated statement that “no man ean hold another down without remaining down with him,” is brought very forcibly home to the South every time some Southerner aspires to occupy some lofty political or Judicial position of a federal nature. esping Jodge Parker off the Suprane Goare, andi wil cntnge e Supreme continue to operate against Southern aspirants as long as the South main- tains ita hostile attitude toward certain Americin citizens ‘and openly flaunts defiance in the face of the federal constitution.
