BINGA STATE BANK TO REOPEN Baptists Stage Near Fight Baptists S Stormy Session Ends; Fred Morris Selected To Succeed Pierson The chief occurrences at the convention on the day have been: It was thus after they had made these pledges that it was thought ahead. Quite quickly and suddenly to more persons the matter of electing a president was brought up Wednesday at the meeting with the Kenyan government, the leader of the THE HOUSTON INFORMER This technicality, intruded at much greater depth, prompted written calls "their own," Pandemionum did break loose. Patience was lost among the Lord's help in the fight against the plague, prevailed. On the platform, a flight of stairs led to the entrance in this struggle was a Rev. Mr. Pope of Calo, Ill., and Mr. Lorden of Bristol, England, but now in the tailoring. Rev. Pope is said to have taken blade and made for Mr. Lorden, where he was stationed. Rev. One report had it that the knife was only the strong application of a policeman's stick to the top of his head could bring him around on this point it not substantiated. Rev. Pope on Mr. Lorden was only a highlight. It precipitated a stalk toward the door in which he shaded a number of lesser quarrels in which plaques were exchanged and the movement was made by Prof. B. Lorden, secretary, that Rev. William In delightful contradiction to the force assertion server has been nightly chorus. Prof. Garner's one-thousand opens with a grand congratulation on everything from Baptist aborts to even nightly she have spread peace and good feeling among the delegates with their spandrel renderers. Dr. Austin replied to telling them that Dr. William was not against this interdiscipline of exchanging compassion and treaty. A WEEKLY NEWSPAPER FOR ALL THE PEOPLE HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 30, 1930 DR. E. A. ETTER, physician and surgeon, Galveston, ex-president and delegate to the National Medical Association, which convened at Indianapolis, Ind., August 18, 32, has returned home. In speaking of the meeting in Indianapolis, Dr. Etters says that the most vital question of today concerns the association in Negro hospitals, which the association is trying to solve a problem which must be put up to the Negroes of America, and the Negroes must help them solve. "Will make a good report of the National Medical Association." Y Summer Camp Is Great Success' By G. T. STOCKS The Colored Young Men's Christian Summer Camp for boys in spring, Texas, August 13-22. A summer camp director and in his capacity as assistant to the executive secretary, and in his capacity as director of work, judging from the number of favorable comments that have already been received by visitors to the camp and others. Mr. Stocks conducted a course of study in "Military Leadership" of the Association Press studi- ship. Emphasis was laid on what happened at the camp might do upon the camp idea and instruction. The camp idea and instruction change the religions and educational program of the camp and gives the campers a wise call to his assistance several of the city whose addresses were short, apt, and appropriate to the boys that could do all appreciation. Athletics and aquatics were jointly founded by Fritz Frisch F. Stone, students of Howard University and Fisk universities, respectively. Students from time to time and evidence of their good work is shown from the campus, many of whom had never tried to swim before, only two returned uninterrupted, swimming in a swim hole, swimming in pool, and due to fear on the part of the boys and the inexperienced, to induce them to leave terra firma. Camp visitors were numerous and we visit prominently among them: the boys, who speak to the boys, arate at the state of Oklahoma. Though Mr. Young speaks to the boys, arate at the state of Oklahoma. In the water and leaving before the boys, he speaks to the words and words of praise for the cleanliness and diffs and what he expressed as the fine manner in which it was being Our New Creed Editor's note: The management of the The Houston Informer believes that the time has come for a restatement of its policies and program in the Houston Informer and its Texas. Consistent with that belief the following is herewith submitted: The Houston Informer believes: That men appreciate each other most when they know most of the doings of their fellowmen. Therefore this paper opens its columns for the use of all classes and kinds of movements which have for their objective the progress of Negroes in Houston, in the domain of the war in Houston and in Texas each week with worldwide accomplishments of members of the race, and it hereby invites the cooperation of all men everywhere to the realization of this objective. That men's virtues should be magnified instead of their vices; that criticism should be constructive rather than destructive; that lasting progress is founded upon the agreement of men upon a common domain of their disagreement to the extent that cooperative action is hindered. That the generation of animosities which have their beginning in criticisms, which is not founded on a desire to promote the best as much as it is calculated to advertise the worst, is at all times to be avoided. The Informer proposes rather to seek to promote the best as much as possible, with self-self-respect and upright morality, civic and social procedure. That courage may be courteously shown; that real bravery should not be confused with helplessness; and that reasoning has been responsible for the accomplishment of more progress than That more emphasis should be placed upon the creation of wider contacts both within the Negro race and with the leaders of all races among the citizenry of Houston and of Texas; to the extent that we can foster a sense of unity to bear upon the impact of race programs and the creation of an atmosphere in which we can contribute to the extent of our ability to the progress of our community and state. That at least a working agreement with all our neighbors is absolutely necessary, that, while much has been done in the matter of individual successes among Houston and Texas Negroes, our success as a race group will depend upon our ability to develop collective efficiency, and to create organizations and institutions which will be able to work together to improve the status of Negroes. That Negroes should be more aggressively interested in the social and welfare agencies which operate in the city of Houston and in the state of Texas. As individuals and within our club organizations we should first hand knowledge of the Dorsacs, the Negroes, and the Negroes' community service, the Houston Social Service Bureau, the Community Chest, the Y. M. C. A, the Y. W. C. A, and all other agencies which seek to improve the social lot of under-privileged classes in Houston. That little or no progress along civil or social lines can be had until the Negroes of Houston, along with all other classes and races in its citizenry, have the right to vote in all of its elections and on all of its questions of public policy. With this idea in mind, The informer will seek at all times to promote every effort which will be held to well-directed opinions seeking to further this endeavor. That all Negro institutions which are directed toward the uplift of the race should be helped to success, and that, by the same token, the charismat and the fake should be exposed and repudiated. That intelligence and integrity make men and races great, and that, wherever found among us they should be cultivated and nurtured and their possessors helped into positions from which they make substantial contributions toward the progress of the group. And finally, The Informer believes that this is ground high enough and broad enough for all men, regardless of race, creed, gender, race, nationality, and national origin of Houston and of Texas to cooperate in the bringing into reality of this program of progress. Harris County Negro Democrats Stage Big Meeting The Harris County Negro Democrat Club, under the leadership of the mayor, has been a strong force in Glennore as secretary, seems to be gaining in strength despite the lack of support for the vice mayor Lubock (which had for its time been the most powerful man to compel the Harris County Democratic executive committee to permit Mr. White and all other current members of the committee and runoff elections) was decided to appoint Mr. White as Galveston's chief of civil Appeals at Galveston, the case having been appealed to the Supreme Court, which decided that their continued interest in the case should stand more than 180 men and women, members of the club, gathered at the Galveston County day afternoon to help formulate policies and to transact the business of President White called the meeting to order and presided over prayer being held at the White House. The first thing on program was the report of the Department of Defense on the功绩 of Dr. M. Sullivan. Dr. Shadowwsen is the originator and is the chairman of this group, which consists of 100 men who are giving advice to the balance of the expense of the Galveston primary case, including the expenses of prosecuting the case in the Supreme Court of the United States, added to the expense of the added to the club at this meeting, C. F. Richardson was called upon to explain to them the purposes of the club, in his imminent style. Among other things, Richardson stated that it was no longer regarded as an amoralous to see Negro democrats, and that Negroes should consider until they could vote in every election which played an important part in choosing officials and determining the policies of government. The principal address of the afternoon was made by Dr. H. E. Lee, who said all great things have started. We must get Negroes to the point where their common interests, and be proud of them, are ready to rally to the cause of Negroes, and we must be dissatisfied with our present situation and ally with the cause of the Galveston primary case. Music was furnished by the Good Home female quartet.
