Popular demand charged aspirin is a closely guarded secret of medicine, a medically important an obese country chemist, and an unobese country chemist, who know and have faith in aspirin and faith in failure to make aspirin the world. There is one laboratory alone in Memphis, Texas, which predemedicated aspirin last year and this aspirin, aspirin last year, and this aspirin, Joseph's Pure Aspirin, is sold in the tabular tables of guaranteed purity.
Sensible economy and a surmise in its purity have directed it to demand only St. Joseph's Pure Aspirin which con-

MOREHOUSE TO GET $100,000.00 FROM NEGROES
Two years ago the General Education Board made an offer of $300,000 to Morehouse College on condition that Morehouse raise $100,000 among alumni and other friends. Of the $100,000 the Julius Rosewald Fund promised to give $100,000 provided Negroes give $100,000. Success in raising the third $100,000 depends also upon the gifts from Negroes and is assured if they each dollar, therefore, contributed by Negroes will bring five dollars from other sources. It is safe to say that if Negroes will give $100,000, $600,000 can be added to the college entrance fee to almost an amount one million dollars. With this inspiration, a vigorous campaign was waged among Negroes for pledges and cash. Many of them who pledged $1,000 and have paid have received a willingness to give more if necessary. February 18 is Founder's Day at the Morehouse College last year of the Education Board expires during this school year. Y. W. C. A. NOTES

EXPRESSSES THANKS FOR COOPERATION
To the Managing Editor
Houston Informer:
Permit me, as a member of Mayor W. W. Clinton's office, to take this method of expressing our appreciation to the various agencies among our ground staff, and to part in helping to alleviate the unemployment approximately 14% of the population of our city, more than 5000 of this First, we wish to thank you for your most helpful and instructive editorial on the labor situation from these agencies, and we have been of unold value in helping to awaken the public to the realities of the job. Second, I wish to thank the College-Tayne Church Club and the benefactor who dered a benefit program; not only was this program of benefit to the unold population of thousands of thousands of thousands of Houstonians.
Third, the Houston Negro Business Club, which has served the spirit in which they opened their distribution center of food and clothing to the basement of the Old Pelham since its beginning and I have never witnessed a movement endorsed so wholeheartedly and harmoniously as
I understand that all of the colored churches and the majority of the jobless people need something to bring Christmas cheer to the jobless. We have more contributions that the colored citizens will play their part in this crisis as in all others. But I hope we will not be unmindful of the fact that the solution to the whole situation is employment.

USELESS OBJECTS
MAY BE A MENACE
FAMILY'S HEALTH
BY ALGERNON R. JACKSON, M.-D. (For The Associated Negro Press) those that have outlived their usefulness. If you're paying rent in a city you need every inch for the more necessities of life. But where ewomen need it, you need an unoccupied cram every unoccupied shelf and counter with old furniture, clothing, books and linens. Chipped dishes "too good to throw away." The storage space is needed in every household for furnishings and clothing that are only used during the day. As a general thing objects such as card tables and extra folding chairs. As a general thing that has been of no use throughout the past year—either by sending it to a friend or by throwing it ruthlessly on the junk heap to be disposed of, when the house is cleaned, these old pieces must be moved conveniently or to provide a spare room if it is in a kitchen or a bedroom. Sometimes an old table or a dresser of drawers which has stood in the house for a long time can be used in intimate furnishing by a little armature carpentry, plenty of sofa and bedding.

INTELLIGENCE AND INTRGRITY MAKE MEN
‘AND RACES GREAT
HOUSTON, TEXAS, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1930
1ORBS ARE MORE NECESSARY THAN FOOD
‘The turn Of events in recent days seems t6 indicate that there)
hhas been a dimming of the interest on tbe part of the general Ne-
sro public in the'matter of working to get jobs for the unemplay-
dn an organized way. It appears that certain sentthents, prob-
ably unfortunately expressed, gave the impression that the work
‘wan not well intentioned and that the personnel had been poorly
selected. That, coupled with the refusal of the general commit-
‘tee to make certain concessions in the matter of a separate clear-
‘toune, caused the slump in interest

‘And there are many of them who now are to be found in the lines
‘those who walt nt all of the social agencies for the bare neces-
‘of life, would rather have-work to do than to be assured of
ofthe charity which they might need. And 10 i lio true
‘hat glo there arp as any’ of out of works ne ara
there can be no end in sight for the need of contributions to
from which food and clothing are furnisted to the needy.
‘Houston Negrose need to learn that in times like these, they
aust garry, an much of thelr own lod as possible. Tt i allright
for un to feel that white people wil take care of us. Probably
‘hey wil when al of the neds of Chet own pons have bac ca
cedfor. But what are our needy to do in the meantime. On thelr
‘part it in nob a lack of the desire to be of service to us #o much

Wha ave rope to te iabor baron in the City Hall and non the
Yabld rush for jobs by the unemployed of all races, and the ad
‘vantage which those of white skins have over Diack ren, some of
Hey trsay reratra but who, because of the rush and tht
‘kins, are definitely at a disadvantage. "For them to rush
ver white’ men, as white men rush over them, to answer to
Sianies and applications for jobs would start a small riot.” And
‘there are thove of the white race who may not agree with this
aituation, but who nevertheless are powerless to change It, And
to itis happening that times for the unemployed Negro are not
ioting any beter, despite the efforts of the whol ety, leaving
‘ut, to help. "And it is underyconditions like these that
‘we are stopping, demoralized at the first rebuff; halting at the
Firat sign of a dissenting volee; fearful to go forward.
‘Jobs are more important than food, It is from jobs that food
is bought. ‘Give more of us jobs and we all ean buy more food
for those for whom there may be no Jobs. ‘But in heaven's name
Jet us.not cease to work to get as may of them employed as pos.
sible. ‘There are jobs waiting for Negroes every day. The trou-
ble ig that the men cannot find the jobs without direction, A
separate clearing house will serve the purpose, ‘There is a man
famong us who Knows the “ins and outa” of the workers’ needs
He also has contact with employers of labor to a greater extent
‘than any other one man among us. Let those who fear that con-
tributions to the cause which he heads may not be well handled,
‘et up a plan for tho efficlet handling of the affairs. ‘Such 4
‘toall circumstance can be cured in a few minutes by a group af
thinking business menrworking-layethor. ‘The taekcand the goal
‘of the whole movement in the rellet of unemployed Negro men.
Let that not be lost sight of.” Tt is nothing else. Tf the move:
ment is'abandoned, for whatever cause, the plight of the race Wil
be worse than before. "Bread lines will grow longer, Conteibu-
tions must be inereased by those who, as time goes on, will be
Jogs and lees able to contribute, "Permanent ‘goodwill not be
‘done. ‘The Informer feels that Houston Negroes in this instance,

Andrew, better know as “Rube” Foster is dead. After more
than three years of an incurable illness, the former son of Texas
who for nearly a quarter of a cehtury was a leading figure in
the field of American Nogro sports, has passed. Hailing from
Calvert and its vicinity, reared in the typieal Texas way, he lived,
nevertheles, to become known as one of the “fathers of organized
Negro basebsil,” and was the moving spirit in the formation of a
national Negro baseball league.
Negro Texans have made thelr mark in all of the activities of
Ameriea and thelr contribution to the various felds of endeavor

ert in solence and in business, let us not forget Andrew “Rube”
Foster, leader in the field of organized baschall—a native Texan,
who compelled the admiration and respect of the athletic world.
