I. The Controversy in the Church at Antioch (v. 1.5).
This difficulty was a most serious one for it threatened the disruption of the church into a Jewish and a Gentile division. It was not a question of the admission of the Gentiles into the church. That had been settled some years before when Peter received Corinthians and his household. The question now was, on what ground could they be received? Should Gentile convicts be required to keep the Mosque law as a condition of salvation? This issue was brought on by the coming of certain men from Jerusalem who clared, 'Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses ye cannot be saved (v.1)'. The question was so difficult that Paul and Barnabas were unable to put the man to silence. These Jewish legalists had the letter of the Scripture on their side. They could point to the command in which this was enjoined upon believers (Gen. 17:14). Paul could not point to any Scripture where it had been abrogated. If Paul could I plead that Abraham was justified before he was circumcised, his ant godists could answer, 'Yes, but after justification the rite was divinely imposed'. The brethren at Antioch decided to refer the matter to the mother church at Jerusalem. Accordingly, Paul and Barnabas and others were sent as a deputation to Jerusalem. At an informal reception by the church at Jerusalem they rehearsed the things which God had done for them
11. The Deliberations of the Council (vv. 621)
1. Peter's Speech (vv. 611).
He argued that God had borne witness to His acceptance of the Gentleby giving the Holy spirit to them as unto the Jews (Aos 10 7 47). Since therefore, God had not made a difference it would be toly for them to do so.
2. Paul and Pumbae Rehearsed Their Experience (v. 12).
They told how God had set his seal of approval on their preaching of salvation by giving through faith, apart from works by the working of signs and wonders through them.
3. The Argument of James (vv 14 21)
He took the declaration of Peter and showed how it bar moralized with the prophecy of Amos (Amos 9 11 15) He showed that the reception of the Gentiles was not in conflict with God's plan, but in strict harmony therewith As set forth by James, God's plan is as follows:
(1) To take out from among the Gentiles a people for His name (v 14). This is what is now going on—the preaching of the gospel to the ends of the earth and the calling out of the church
(2) After the church is completed and removed, the Hobrow nation will be converted and resorted to its own land and privileges by the Lord Himself at His return (v 16 17)
(3) Following this will be the con-
version of the world through the
agency of converted Israel (v. 12, of
Iron 11:15). It is showed that there
is no conflict when the Solitures are
relatively divided.
His judgment was that the Gentiles
should not be treated with respect
are Jewish, but should be treated
against the paths of heathen in such
as meant of it to Hols concession
and blood.
(4). The Decision (vv. 22000)
The Mother church came to many limous agreement and accepted the resolution offered by James. The appeal and edders not only sent it stating the decision of the conference but took the also a request to see influential men along with Paul and Barnabus to bear the same testimony by word of mouth. The letter doubted the authority of the J. J. Smith, teachers (v. 24) and stated the method by which this deed had been reached (vv. 2527). They in the Holy Spirit first.
IV. The Decision Delivered to the Church (vv. 3035)
The church was called together to hear the report. Its reading brought reholling. They were now free to prosecute the great ordinary work.
We must not expect spiritual growth when we persist in noticing the fool—Charles H. Jefferson.

O. J. WATSON MOTOR COMPANY CLEARS ITSELF
It is not the wishes of the paper to destroy the good name of any firm or person, so we take as much pleasure in stating to the 7,000 Negroes of Wichita, and the whites who believe in fair play to every man, that a letter from the O. J. Watson Motor Company, proves that Classified ad in the 16th inst., of the Beacon, was not the sentiments of the company, but while Mr. O. J. Watson, President and family were away on a short vacation, the classified ad writer thought it wise to slander a whole race to sell a second hand car. We still hold that he is unworthy to hold position with such a representative firm. You can tell from the following letter that this company in principles and treatments to the public:
Mr. H. T. Sims, Editor and Publisher,
I have today received a copvof your publication under date of the 17th inst, which takes us to task for a certain classified ad written by our classified ad writer a few days ago. I want to anologize for this ad as being in-defensible and uncalled for. The ad was run while the writer, together with his family was away on a short vacation and the first time our attention was called to the matter was the receipt of your publication and a copy of the Wichita Protest, both of which reached us today.
It has never been the policy of this organization to do anything which would cause racial or strife. My position when on the City Commission, regarding a hooded parade by the Klu Klux Klan is well known and is sufficient evidence of our stand in such matters.
It is indeed unfortunate that a matter of this kind should come

We have always numbered among our friends, clients, and employees a number of people of your race. It has never been a part of our interrogation when interviewing people who apply for employment, to ask them their religion, race or previous condition of servitude. We believe everybody is entitled to his own religious belief and we know that individuals cannot change their nationality.
We trust you will give this apology and explanation equal prominence with your criticism already made.
Friends were surprised to hear of the marriage of Miss Gladys Jones. 942 E. 9th to Mr Robert King. 1108 Cleveland, and the marriage of Miss Edith Saulter 842 Ohio to Mr. Herbert King 1108 Cleveland Both nuptials were celebrated at the same time. The grooms are brothers and the brides are close chums. Friends wish the young couples a happy future life together.
