lerdinald Q. Morton, Civil Service
Commissioner of the City of New

se declared:
“To you dark skined mothers
it (the Nation) pays the same
measure of homage that It gives to
your fah-skinned sisters who nob-
ly gave their sons in its defense.
Secure in the knowledge of this
you will not allow your hearts
to be imbittered by the inault of-
fered you by the Government at
Washington.”
Fred R. Moore, City Alderman ard
editor of the New York AGE, de-
livered an impassioned attack upon
the segragation of the colored Gold

the assurance giveh him by a cap-
tain of the United states Army and
mublished by ifr. Moore in hia news

Acting Mayor Joseph V. McKee re-
pretted that the note of bitterness
had to be uttered at the reception
tendered the mothers by the City of
New York and assured the mothers
that New York City welcomed them
in the same rpirit sad with the rome
admiration it had shown white moth-

of the finest fighting units

Fegregation of the mothers by the
war Department to flame up to a

columns, usvally on the front page,
and much resentment was expresae
ed by both white and colored citl-
zeng against the shabby sasnion in
which the colored mcthers were
treated.
Among those orga izatiors coop
erating with the N, A. A. C. P. in
ita fight against this diecrimorat-

Colored Women who sent the fol-
lowing telegram from their annual

‘MISSIONS IN CHANGING CHINA’
2nd. Chron, 1521-7
The awakering in China and the
trlumphant march towards the cross
of Christ has never been excelled
fn miacionary actlyetles, The chan-
ges ate phenomical,
While the Missionaries have nat
always boon grent, they, inthe main,
have had a preat message.
The fruits of the mismonary mes-
sage aie cvulence in the coming
to Chrict of the Chiveee by the hun-
dreds, when they find the pearl of
great price they seeh to enlist
others,
In the text we have a ci-onerntive
venture with prophet and king to
bring Isreal to God. She had been
without God, preacher and Jaw;but
Jehovah remembers us though we
forget Him.
However, He often reminds ue of
duty through afilictions, When
things Lereath us and things a-
found uz fai! we learn to loos up.
“My health cometh trom thee
Lord,”

ANNOUNCING
IF you're a normal, I celthy individual you spend about a third of your time in your bed-room-or even more than that.
"Farly to Bed and Early to Rise" isn't fiction. You've got to have rest to retain your health, disposition, and prosperity. Why not make your bedroom as comfortable as you like to have your living room? You actually spend more time there.
Somebody said: "Heaven's a Led with a lamp overhead and an uncut magazine." Whoever wrote that had a keen sense of the pleasure to be derived from reclining and reading with a good light over your head.

from a Living Room
And there are lots of other ways to make your bedroom more livable. When mornings get chill a heating pad and an electric heater will give you a better before-breakfast mood.
Then there's the boudoir appliance-group. Hair dryer, curling iron, vibrator—and the sewing machine if you wish. Electric clocks with a tiny light that tells you the time of day all night. And some of them have pleasant alarms to get you to the office on time.
Oh, there are a world of ways to make your bedroom a comfort living room. And most of those ways come from new uses for electricity!
