Her name might be Rose, Annabelle or even Alabaster, but even so, she has been declared by the leading physicians of California to be a perfect baby, mentally and physically. The youngster is a 10 months' old inmate of the Salvation Army Rescue Home in Oakland, Calif., a place where virtually every nation is represented, including Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French and others. Physicians seeking over California for a perfect specimen of child, found her a foundling in this home. They declare she is 100 per cent plus.

An investitute and flag presenta-
tion service was held by Troop 17,
Colored Boy Scouts of Phoenix at
the First Baptist church, at which
their newly organized Wand played
several pieces. The troop received a
beautiful United States flag for hav-
ing had more representatives at
Camp Geronimo last summer than
any other troop in the Roosevelt
District council. Scout executive F.
E. Maitland presented scout badges
to two candidates. Those to speak
were: Executive Maitland, Rev.
Burkhalter, J. A. Green, R. Wells, J.
L. Arnold, J. V. Alexander, G. C.
Hamby and C. G. Hoyer.
Mr. J. L. Arnold, one of the fore
most social leaders among the young
boys of this city, presented the Col-.
ored Boy Scouts of Troop 17, with a
complete standard band. Mr. Arnold
made this donation in order that the
Colored boys would be on an equal
with any other race of the city as
music was concerned.
Mr. Geo. S. Thompson, another of
the social leaders of the younger
set of this city, and a master musi-
cian, donated his services as instruc-
tor to each boy presented with an in-
strument. The band has just re-
cently been organized and with each
member giving Mr. Thompson the
utmost cooperation the band has
made a wonderful success.
The community greatly appreciates
the work that these two leaders are
doing and will give them their hearty
cooperation in making it a success.

FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA
The colored students teachers of the Northern Arizona Teachers College had many courtesies tendered them during their ten weeks' summer session in Flagstaff. The teachers were: Miss Novella Taylor of Phoenix; Miss Mozell Mack, of Phoenix; Miss Madelina Cook, of Phoenix; Miss Lena Cook, of Phoenix; Miss Erma Brown, of Georgia; Mrs. Love Jordan, of Prescott, Mrs. A. A. Snowden, of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; Mrs. Thompson of Phoenix, and Mrs. Temple of Phoenxi.
Miss Lizzie Barnett of 19 W. Phoenix Ave., entertained the N. A.| T. C. students at an elaborate dinner. The delicious dinner and jolly good times enjoyed by the girls will never be forgotten.
Miss Lizzie Barnett also showed her high esteem held for the N. A. T. C. students when she entertained them with a most delightful Farewell Breakfast. Miss Barnett's hospitality will long be remembered by all of those who received her motherly kindness.
A beautifully appointed farewell reception was given in honor of the colored students of the Northern Arizona Teachers' College by Miss Ida Ford. Miss Ford proved a charming hostess to twenty-five guests. The reception was very unique and attractive. No pains or expense were spared to make the girls happy. Everything was just as it should have been, and all present reported a very good time and were grateful to Miss Ford for her generosity.
Sighs of regret and pleasure were breathed when the colored students of N. A. T. C. departed from the depot in Flagstaff for their various cities. The girls were all good chums while in Flagstaff, and won the admiration and love of all the colored citizens there.
NORTON DAIRY WINS FIRST PLACE IN MILK AWARDS
Market milk and cream awards at the Arizona State Fair this year, showed the Norton Dairy company in the lead again. With a score of 98 per cent, first prize was awarded this dairy for market milk—and a score of 98 1-10 per cent gave them first prize for market cream. The Norton company also captured the second prize ribbon for cottage cheese. In winning the first prize ribbon for market cream, the Norton company chalks up the sixth consecutive capture of first prize.

Enters Ministry
Mr. J. L. Arnold, who has been quite active in politics among the colored people, has entered the ministry and identified himself with Antioch Baptist church, 11th street and Monroe, of which the Rev. Mr. Massey is pastor. Mr. Arnold will now devote his efforts to the saving of souls and working for community betterment. More power to him. May he meet with unbounded success in his new field of endeavor.
Pertinent Question
It is generally supposed that Frederick J. Haskin of Washington, D. C., can answer any question you choose to ask. Will some one kindly write and ask him: "What Has Become Of The Western Dispatch", erstwhile weekly Negro newspaper fromerly published in Phoenix? We would write and ask him ourselves, but honestly, we aint got the heart".
PHOENIX COLORED BOY
MAKING GOOD IN MOVIES
LOS ANGELES, CAL., Dec.—The rapid advancement of Oscar Smith in the moving picture game is attracting the attention of many writers. Oscar, as he is known to most everyone in the profession, always seems to fit in better than any one else for the parts he is selected to play. His success in the new release, "Love Madness," has won for him another contract with the Cecil B. DeMille Studios. Oscar Smith has a wife of whom he is very proud, and he was both surprised and pleased when Rev. Hayes of Pasadena told the congregation that the wife of Mr. Smith was the donor of the wonderful new Bible which adorns the pulpit.
The article above refers to a Phoenix boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Smith of 1435 East Jefferson street. He is well known in Phoenix, where for many years he made his home with his parents.
L. A. McCarty, manager of thank his many patrons for the just ended. He wishes you a Me Year. In the ensuing year, as in you the very best in service.

Every indication points to a period of unparalelled prosperity for Phoenix and the Valley. The publicity which this locality has so sorely needed is now being sent broadcast throughout the country and as a result every day brings new people and new money to our gates. We are getting our house in order to take care of the increasing population and we have many reasons to believe that we are entering a new phase in our community life. Building permits show a staggering increase, the tax rate for Phoenix is exceptionally low. Bank Clearings and general business conditions reflect our good fortune. Climate, population and opportunity are the three essentials to our future. Let us see that we deserve them.
With pleasant wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous and Happy New Year.

PEACE
PEACE
At this season, when man is at his very best, when his heart is filled deep with the spirit of love and service, of giving and doing, when everything of doubt and fear, of hatred and mistrust, of envy and malice, is cast out of his heart, this blessed and holy peace enters in and he knows a happiness so deep and sincere that it floods all his being, like sunshine flooding a darkened landscape.
Let us away with strife at this season. Now is the time to speak kindly words. Let us not carry into the new year the enmities of the old. Let not the harsh notes of contention come into the heavenly song of peace. Christ came to give peace, and from heaven's throne today He bends to give peace to all who trust Him.
To have peace within the heart and home is to enjoy sincere and genuine happiness. Without it no joy can be really satisfying, no pleasure or gain worth while. With peace lacking there is always unrest in the soul, always an unsatisfied yearning no matter what else one may possess.
SHOPPING GUIDE
For the past Ten years it has been the policy of the Phoenix Tribune to come forth in a holiday number at this season, and at this time, the beginning of our Eleventh year of continuous publication, we pride ourselves on the presentation of this Christmas Number. It is especially designed to aid our large family of readers in doing their Christmas shopping. Progressive and thoughtful merchants, who appreciate your patronage, have purchased advertising space in this issue, and their ads should be regarded as a direct personal appeal to you to come and do your buying in their stores. Go where you are invited.

Mrs. Johnson is known as a genial hostess, but on this occasion she fairly out did any of her former efforts.
