KINGFISHER, OKLA. The Colored Teachers' Institute for Garfield. Kingfisher, Blaine, Canadian and Grady counties is holding its third annual session in this city. Ninety-two teachers are enrolled and the prospects are that before the close of the term the books will show an enrollment of more than one hundred.
There are several grammar schools and normal institutes in the state in which colored teachers can interchange ideas and receive instruction in methods as to how to teach the youth: but this is one of the largest if not the largest, in the state.
The faculty is an excellent one, efficient in every way and intellectually strong, and is therefore second to none in our commonwealth; and because of the quality and character of the instruction imparted; upon the subjecte taught and prescribed in the course of study, we feel safe in placing it among the best, if not the very best, west of the Mississippi. The gentleman at the head of the institute is Prof E A Hall, A M., conductor, a graduate of Lincoln University, Pa., principal of the High school of Hennessey.

ey, Okl., teaches arithmetic, higher mathematics, book-keeping, methods, agriculture, physics, etc. Prof N J Johnson, A M, instructor, a graduate of Atlanta University, Ga, late vice-president of the Langston University, and principal of the Douglas High school of this city, teaches grammar, composition, agriculture, United States history, general history, civics, etc.
Prof F F Bailey, B S D, principal of the grammar department of the Hennessey High school, has under his charge instruction in orthograpey, reading, physiology, geography, domestic science, etc
Besides, the faculty of the institute has organized a thorough musical department which aside aims to provide training in vocal music, encourages and maintains musical organizations of the teachers that will tend to develop special talent and create in the teacher a taste for the best in music. At the head of this department is Rev H A J Bryant, of Hennessy.
The faculty has worked hard both day and night to make the institute a success in every way, and in this they have received the heartiest approbation and support of the colored people of Kingfisher and vicinity.
The Normal is under the supervision and management of our fellow townman H. Geo. H. Moore, county superintendent of Kingfish er county, who can make no mi take in retaining the services of these gentlemen for another year. If this is done we feel safe in saying the attendance will double itself, thus necessitating the employment of more instructors.
The institute is not only a financial success, but an intellectual treat to this community. At the close of the session an examination will be conducted by the faculty and all persons desiring to teach in the state will be examined.

ATCHISON POLITICS. We are glad to note the increasing popularity of W. V. Ingham in Atchison city and county. Why not? He is a clean, strcight Republican and belongs to no cliques This makes him one of the strongest Republican candidates on the county ticket and there is no question about him being nominated at the primaries Aug. 2d as the choice of the Republicans for county treasurer.
Politics are getting hot in A chison county. Severa, colored voters report they have been approached this week by the Boss of the court house ring and urged them to vote for Ernest Underwood for county treasurer. They listened and smiled at the "hot air" the political court house Boss gave them, but say he cannot lead them into such a hole. To use the expression of one colored man who said, "how much is he getting out of this deal when he is trying so hard to get us to vote for a man in a Democrat office." Another remarked, "Won't this kill his chances for postmaster when his record is truthfully told to the congressman, how he has flirted and I now flirting on both sides of the peace."
There is a state Republican ticket this year and no man should receive the support in any way of true Republicans who is a trader and making deals on both sides of the tense as if to say to --- with the party. This is an unusual condition forced on the party but the voters will take care of it like men and true Republicans.
What are you a Democrat or Republican. Think of this when they scheme to have you on both sides of the fence. The schemers are cut and have asked some colored men to quit good jobs for two or three weeks to make other colored men who they claim they have in their pockets to vote for a Democratic office holder

"I had dripsy, and was told by my family physician that there was no chance for me. My family also gave me up. My limbs and body were swollen one-third larger than natural, water collected around my heart and I had to be propped up in bed to keep from smothering. I took Dr. Miles' Heart Remedy until I was entirely cured. This was in 1902, and I am now able to do any kind of work on my farm. My cure was certainly marvelous."
