OPEKA PLAINDEALER
VOLUME XVIII.
The Mo'llie Groves Saming and Milling Company with general offices at Muskogee, are developing some valuable mines. The property is located at Parshall Grand county Colorado, where the company owns and operates mines on 114 acres. Their last report shows they have struck a four foot uein of paying dirt with bright prospects of a much larger and richer strike.
The prospecting has been carried from Nov. 2, 1910 to Feb. 28, '11 They have drilled and developed 260 feet and after a careful examination, we find everything to be exactly as represented. They have quite a bit of ore on the banks at present ready for shipment.
The company is owned, oederated and controlled solely by colored men. Many of them are bankers, lawyers, doctors and merchants and have made a financial success of their early career in the business men.
Following are the officers: L. F Fue, president, wholesale and retail grocery, Muskogee; V.President J. E. Johnson, cashier Peoples' Bank and Trust Co., Muskogee; Treasurer M. O. Gtovee, general manager; Everett E. Philips, attorney.
Directors: L. F. Fue, R. Emmett Stewart, John H. Escoe, W. H. Bousefield J. E. Johnson, O. M. Groves and P. B Austin. These men are all good, square, fair, honorable business men who are capable of managing any concern. This have proven beyond doubt by making a success of their personal affairs in business and financial matters. It is one of the best mixing propositions that has come to our notice and we have looked into it carefully.
We had a personal interview with Mr. Johnson, earlier of the People's Bank and Trust company. He is wise on all propositions pertaining to finance and enjoys the confidence of his fellowmen and has contributed much toward making a greater Muskogee. He is a live wire and has an enviable reputation for honesty and fair dealing with all men. With such a man at the head any institution is bound to glide smoothly over the sea of success. The colored race needs more men like Mr. Johnson.
I. F. Fue, another member of the mining company is also one of the proprietors of the Greek Grocery company. He is an excellent business man and stands high in the estimation of the people of both races. He is a man well met and makes friends readily on account of the open, frank, honest manner in which he does things.
P. B. Austin is a member of the Creek Grocery company and a successful business man and financier of great ability. He too is one of the photos of the mining company. He is one of Munkogee's wealthy colored citizens and has done much for the advancement of his race.

Mr. O W. Gurley of the Gurley Grocery company, has recently opened up an addition to the city of Tulsa to be known as the Gurley and Hill addition for the settlement of colored people. The lots are 25x130 and in a beautiful spot for

residence. Mr. Gurley is prominent in business circles having conducted a grocery for many years. His business was a signal success and he invested large sums in real estate and is now building houses on his new addition to the city and selling to members of the race on the same terms that they pay rent. He is living in a house on the addition that cost over $3,000. It is but a few blocks from the car line and is one of the most ideal homes in the city. We recommend the addition not because we are a warm friend and ardent admirer of Mr. Gurley, but because it is the most desirable building spot in Tulsa and

Being successful in this he entered the real estate and rental business and in now building houses and selling them on installments. He was married some two months ago to Miss Satie J. Carter, a highly cultured young lady and a leader in Muskogee's social set. Mr. Bell in one of the happiest men in all Tulsa and one are more deserving than he and his estimable bride.

SAMUEL E. LUX
It has been the policy of a certain element in Topeka to deceive the voters in every election by injecting the "wet" and "dry" issue into the campaign. In this way good men-staunch friends of law enforcement have been maligned and grossly misrepresented. It has been the one stambling block in the way of building a greater Topeka There is a law against the sale of liquor, and we do not believe there is a single man running for office in Topeka who would fail to enforce all laws if elected
The all-absorbing question before the people at present is to get a goon business man for mayor-one who will inject life into the commercial activity of the city. "I am for greater prosperity through a greater Topeka--a cleaner Topeka, for what helps our city, helps you, helps me."
The above is a paragraph from the platform of Mr. Samuel E. Lux, candidate for mayor, and one of the most successful and progressive business men in Topeka. He has

sport this time, money and energy in boosting Topeka, and now that he is sking for an opportunity to do more, it is wrong for people to throw out hints that he would no perform every day and enter into law to the letter. Sam Lux has been a blessing to the city - spending his money lavishly, and it was the it passed through the hards of those who toll. He says further in platform that he is for:
"More workshops and factories
"For more laborers.
"For making a greater and better city."
Sentiments of this kind have the correct ring, and when put into execution will bring happiness and comfort into the homes of those who win their bread by daily toil
Fopeka has long suffered from a lot of drones who can see nothing but lightness and liquor, but a that the people have been thoroughly awakened, she will free herself from the clatter of this dreadful nightmare, and take one big bound and lose for a rid.
Mr. Lux is made of the right material, and it honored by the vote of the city, his legion of friends among business men and laborers promise a good, clean ad. ministrator. He is a man who

Has made a success of the Midwinter Exposition. Has made a success of his own business. Sam has proven what he will do. When all is to be gained and nothing lost, lets BOOST and BOOST for MAYOR.
