Methodists Will Elect Day Delegates!
To the pastors and members of the A. M. E. church throughout the Kansas conference:—
In some way I misplaced the resolution which had fixed the time and place of holding the electoral college which in turn shall elect its lay delegates to the general conference which will meet in Kansas City, Mo during the month of May, 1912.
Rev. J. R. Ransom, who offered the resolution giving the time and place, retained a copy of the same, and I herewith as secretary of the Kansas conference, do notify all concerned that the electoral college will convene in St. James A. M. E. church, North Lawrence, the first Wednesday in May, which is May 3rd, 1911. Each pastor will therefore per A. M. E. discipline elect and send on the above late to this place one delegate or alternate representing each quarterly conference to this said electoral college. Please notify me by April 24th who your delegate be that I may arring for his accommodation. Your ample servant,

James Wilkerson, aged forty three years, died Saturday at his home in Soldier township, after being ill a week with pneumonia. He left a wife and several children, who are the recipients of much sympathy from a large circle of friends The remains were interred in Steward cemetery.
Mrs. Florence Conley, aged fifty, died Friday at her home, 1159 Buchanan street. Her funeral was held Monday from Shiloh Baptist church, of which she had been a devoted member for many years. Her death occurred suddenly from heart trouble. Mrs. Conley was an old resident of Topeka, and the many warm friends that she made extend their sympathy to the bereaved family. She is survived by her husband, four sons and a daughter and other relatives.
Earl Smith of Ellsworth spent Saturday and Sunday in the city, the guest of his old friend, Billy Grimes. Mr. Smith has homes read a quarter section of land in Logan county, and was here to arrange with the land office about his papers. He departed Sunday evening for his new possessions where he will remain among the prairie dogs, skunks and other pests for fourteen months. He is a good fellow and "Old" Grimes showed him a royal time.
Presiding Elder King of the Umaha district came in from Tonganoxie the first of the week to spend a few days with his family. He reports a rousing time at that place Sunday, and that throughout his district the people are happy and doing well. Elder King is one of the most persistent workers in the A.M.E. connection. He never finds time for political and other wranglers, he is a church man strictly, and spends every minute of his time looking after the welfare and upbuilding of the cause of Christ and humanity.
Hon. Fred. L. Smith of Omaha spent several days in the city this week, the guest of Dr. and Mrs. O A. Taylor. He was here to attend the Page-Tillery nuptials. Mr. Smith is one of the leading attorneys of his state, knows law and is considered to be one of the most successful practitioners before the Douglas county bar. He stands away up in the front ranks of Omaha's leading citizens and professional men. Mr. Smith was charmed, yes, amazed at our broad thoroughfares, beautiful lawns, rich dwellings, numerous business enterprises and hospitable people. Men and women vled with each other in making his stay one of pleasure, and proved beyond doubt that Topeka leads and all others follow Attorney Smith has proven many persons not guilty before judge and jury, but from his marked attention to a certain young lady while here, it is generally believed that the Nebraskan will return shortly, fall at her feet, "plead guilty" and ask that the judge give him a life sentence at once.

The afternoon was delightfully spent in playing various games, pirzes being awarded as follows; Miss, Euen Page, first, a pair of pink silk hose; Mrs Elizabeth Alexander, a motto on housekeeping.
