PEACE VN SAM ETT
Let us approach the Christmas sca-
son with Joy and gladness, The
prophetic chant of the angely, “Glory
to God in the Ulehest, and on Earth
Peace, Good Will Toward Men,” Is
being realized, The tremendous
struggle to establish a world court,
that will preserve peace among the
nations of the earth, will succeed In
1920,
In the lower animal world the
liger hus evolved inte a common
house cat, the wolf Into a watch dog,
in tuct nearly all animals have been
domesticated. ‘They have lain down
topether and they are being led by
the Ietle thus fulilling the seri
ture, Who does not believe that
these same evolutionary forces are
at work in the hearts of men? The
Necorder bel'oves that we are hear
ing the time when cur swords shall
be beaten Into plough shares and
that “Man the World “Ger Shall

TRUE SPIRIT CF GIVING
Members of the home circle gre
asking themsctyes the question,
“abat shall we give father, mother,
sister, brother or friend?) This in a
commendable xpitit. Hut in i ALL
of the Christ spirit? How many
Rifts ure given because returna are
eapected or Lecanse Mr. or Mra.
So and So belong to our circle?
Let St. John try this time to see
and make glad the poor and the un-
forturate, In so doing the church
will enjoy the real beginnings of
Heaven, Remember, the question
In asked. “If we give only to those
who love us, 4hat thanks have we?
LESSONS FROM THE COAL STRIKE
The recent strike taught all of the
people, including the miners, some
lesrons that they would have pained
in no other way,
The people aro thinking an never
before. They now know that the
“flow of reason should govern in the
demand of the unions for higher
Waxes; that the increases enter into
a higher cost of the necessities of all
the people. For who does not know
that In the settlement of the coal
strike the higher sages will be met
by an increase in the price of our
food, clothing and shelker? Who
doex not know, 100, that the ad-
}ditlonal cost of coal will be added to
the already high prices of production
and that the manufacturer, the Job-
ber and the retailer will all pass this
inereared cost of coal on to the con-
sumer?
